Loaded and fired up Sally's kiln today with a mix of hers and my pottery. Love being able to share studio space with a fellow potter. Feeling inspired by her beautiful honey pots, look at those amazing drawing skills on a cute honey pot. So glad I had watercolor Underglaze for her to try out. So excited to see them finished. Custom Fashion Clients like Elizabeth C. meet up with me here in the Finger Lakes several times for fittings before their creation is perfected. My best friend and @hectorhandmade business partner @jennie_scarbrough offers beautiful, comfortable, stylish spaces for such fittings in her @airbnb(s (when they’re not booked with visitors.) Having a clean slate free of other fashion input or the distraction of an operating showroom creates a really aligned environment where both my Client (and her guests) and I can focus on their one of a kind garment. Showing Elizabeth the vintage garments I selected to include in her Custom Maternity Wedding Dress was such a fun and dynamic experience! It’s all about the details and how everything FEELS together. At this fitting in Jennie’s gorgeous Hector Lookout Loft we made final decisions on vintage components and lace placement, really important things to do in person and with good lighting! This particular vacation rental is so crisp and modern while still being really inviting and cozy. the #csportal connected to kigali rwanda yesterday. theirs is adjacent to a co-working space in an office building. Yves, one of their curators, is a market researcher and travels the african continent with a small team of people gathering various info for various clients. we had a full signup list on our side. 20min increments for 2hrs. my job, partially (when the other curators aren't available) is to set the whole thing up for the day (which is proprietary) and usher people in/out and shut it down. i dont stay in there with folxs, its a private conversation. i chatted with Yves before, after and in-between. he was the only one on his side because its a holiday weekend for them, and everyone is gone. their independence day (from belgian colonialism) was sat, and the national policy has the following monday as a day-off work, so everyone left for the long weekend... i also learned that their Liberation Day is the fourth of July. The day in 1994 when the Rwandan genocide ended, "so its a day we celebrate life", he said. today is amman jordan 8a-10a
