Anjali - Juhi - Shashank
I purposely put Juhi in the middle because well...
I was wondering why Anjali doesn’t like Juhi when I started watching and here’s my take:
The thing is, most parents love to compare their children with someone else's. They think it builds competitiveness in their child when all it does is build resentment.
With Anjali growing up, probably all she heard is Juhi this and that. “Juhi is such a gifted student” “Juhi is an excellent doctor” “Juhi is the best surgeon I've ever trained” Juhi-Juhi-Juhi- making Anjali feel that no matter what she does or how hard she works, she can never match up to The Great Dr. Juhi.
Dr. Juhi is that mountain she needs to cross to prove herself to her father. That she’s just as gifted, just as excellent, just as great. So when Anjali said Juhi has always been between us, well yes, in that context I agree.
But is it Juhi’s fault? Of course not. Do I blame Anjali for resenting her? No. However, I do wish she wouldn’t take out her anger on her.
I am disappointed with Dr. Shashank tho. He needs to really listen to Anjali.
I’m waiting to see how this equation develops. I’m hoping Dr. Juhi doesn’t interfere and try to solve the father-daughter relationship because it’ll just make it worse.
#Sanjivani#Dr. Anjali Gupta#Dr. Juhi Singh#Dr. Shashank Gupta#such a grey area tho#could be any other possibilities#or I'm just over analyzing and she just hates her for plot convenience#which could be The Worst#I'm gonna keep putting Juhi in the middle#because I can#sn analysis#Sanjivani 2#tv: india

Dr Shashank x Dr Juhi - Part 2
Maybe now Juhi begins to wonder how he loves her. What if it's all platonic on his side? But these butterflies in his presence and the sheer awareness of his physicality. Is it only in her head? Who can she talk to, confide in? Anjali has begun to thaw to her but yeah no way she's going to be able to talk through her physical attraction to Anjali's DAD. Fat chance.
Meanwhile, if they are out at dinner or a movie or just stopping by stores in a mall to pick things up, they're just routinely assumed to be a married couple. They spend most of their free days also together now.
Sure, they're workaholics, but they each - privately and then together - realize that some of the nature of their passion at work was driven by each other. The opportunity to be each other's work spouse all those years ago, to bring forward the best outcome every time... There was a precious high there. And it could only be gotten at work then! At first they were both single but hadn't found the balance with each other properly. Then he was married, then she was. Then he was widowed...but she had Rahul. And it wasn't right to revolve around the other if unrelated to work and hospital (they never even consciously considered it!). Later, after Juhi left Sanjivani, they both used work as a solace for loneliness. But now, they had each other. Truly had each other in a way they didn't before -- workaholics they needn't be anymore, couldn't be anymore. Not when there was happiness to also be had in a coffee outside, in trying to bake together, attend a furniture sale, go to a park, pick up presents for a baby shower (even though Anjali had insisted that it's just cheaper to buy online).
Anjali has finally thawed enough to have Juhi over at their home during weekends. The three of them can hang out; she and Juhi pick out movies on Netflix and Prime (and Hotstar, ahem) to watch. Anjali always has the last say in what they order in. None of them are great shakes at cooking but Shashank can do ok provided he is given enough time. Cooking is just like surgery he says, and one of his girls rolls her eyes, the other lights up and laughs. Sometimes they serve as his sous chefs and spend the night in, food, wine and a movie.
Anjali cannot help but be curious as to why Shashank and Juhi aren't physically demonstrative. At first she thinks it's because they're respecting her feelings and she's relieved, whew. But ... she's smart, observant. She can pick up the tension too. How Juhi lingers around Dad, as if inhaling in his essence without his knowledge. How Dad manages to walk around Juhi in the kitchen without really touching her. And she thinks, gosh, idiots (I agree).
So she gives them more space. She encourages Juhi to be over at their place more when she's not around. She innocently suggests to Dad and Juhi separately why some evenings aren't spent at Juhi's. And in a combination of wisdom and frustration, Juhi realized she's gotta make the first move with Shashank.
It's ... "Shashank" now. The first time it happened was when she had met some of his friends at the hospital. They joined forces to tease him about something and in the moment, she dropped her guard and called him, "Shashank". Of course he picked it up, glanced at her to indicate he had and she blushes at the slip of tongue. Later he said, "Acha lagta hai," when they were cleaning dishes together at her place at night.
"Kya sir?"
"You know, jab tum mujhe naam se pukar te ho" Hadn't he dispensed with Dr Singh, Dr Juhi, eons ago in their relationship?
"Acha? Aur kya acha lagta hai aapko..."
He didn't rise to that bait, wouldn't any other lover have rhapsodized?
Instead, "so what do I have to do to hear it again?"
She laughs and splashes water onto him. He grabs her arm. The smiles are slipping off their faces, their gazes are fixed and it's a... moment. "Sha... Shashank," she whispers.
Yeah, well no, she thinks later to herself, satisfied. It's not all platonic.

What is HAPPENING on Sanjeevani, girl?! I saw some clips on my Insta and it had a wild!Gaurav Chopra?! A nervous wreck masquerading as Dr Ishani?? And she's MARRIED to GChops?! Ded!Dr Shashank?? Mysterious son and Dr Anjali in Germany??? What.
Hiiiiiiiiii friend! 😘😘😘
Loooooooong time! How have you beeeeeeeen?! 🤗🤗🤗
Lmao I can’t even beginnnnnnn to describe the clusterfuck that has been Sanjivani since like…. October, but lemme try and break it down in bullet points (if you know all of this already, just skip down to the “three years later” bit!):
Sid who was flirting it up and sexy dancing at a wedding with Ishani till 8 pm, suddenly at 8:01 pm remembers that he has a dead fiancee in his past (plus najaayaz issues) and suddenly starts calling himself a panauti, properly balls-to-the-wall believing in the phenomenon (y’know, as educated, scientifically-minded surgical residents/general medical wunderkinds tend to do! blaming things like their mother’s premarital pregnancy and an older family members’ developmental disorder on themselves!) and being passive-aggressive in trying to ward off Ishani to “protect her” from him.
Passive-aggressive has to be notched up to AGGRESSIVE-AGGRESSIVE coz Ishani’s a dheent who won’t take no for an answer; so he GOES AND MARRIES ISHANI’S BEST FRIEND ASHA, who has gotten knocked up by Aman (who tata-bye-byed outta the whole sitch. Props to him for being the smartest person in this show. He’s probably living an unfulfilled life somewhere, but seemed to come from wealth, so how sad can you really be when you have so much money????)
This whole SidAsha marriage was engineered behind the scenes by Vardhan - who found out that Asha was pregnant and threatened to set her Khap Panchayat from Haryana on her or some shit. He coerced Asha to take advantage of Sid’s “achchaai” by playing on his najaayaz kid feels and take responsibility for her.
Lots of angst and drama as Ishani and Sid struggle with their feels about each other while he’s married to a pregnant Asha, whom he’s pledged his support and name to.
Asha’s pregnancy hormones seem to make her batshit crazy and unable to make any reasonable decisions, and she keeps messing with Sid’s career; drugging him and making him fuck up important surgeries and what not.
All this, again, coz Vardhan. Vardhan wants revenge from Sid. Why? Because dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnn, Sid is Shashank’s son! Vardhan wants to ruin Shashank’s life and thinks the best way to do it is by torturing his kids, and thus is fucking with Sid’s career, and is fucking with Anjali (like, literally. 👉🏽👌🏽👉🏽👌🏽👉🏽👌🏽 Coz sis has daddy issues and reallllllll bad judgement when it comes to men.)
But why does Vardhan want revenge from Shashank???? Damned if we (including the writers) know. Something to do with Vardhan’s Dearly Departed Didi, whose photo he keeps staring at while gritting his teeth. I’m guessing Shashank’s stuck his pen in that inkwell too?
Oh btw, Shashank also confessed his feelings for Juhi, who seemed HORRIFIED at the prospect, but like 5 minutes later is cool with it and reciprocates with her own crushy-wushy feelings? Idk man, idk. It’s all very unclear what that whole plot point was exactly, beyond some vague conversations and ambiguous coy smiles.
Daddy Shashank is disappointed in his known/unknown kid(s) for their various missteps in personal/professional lives. Saare milke inhe paagal banaa rahein hai, yeh chutiya bachchein.
Lots of other miscellaneous fuckery is going on between Sid/Ishani which……. honestly, is exhausting and not worth getting into. Anyway, it’s finally found out that Asha is the culprit behind this dhai mahine ka dukh-dard-chutiyaapa.
Ishani takes a bullet for pregnant Asha, and goes into a coma. Guilt-ridden Asha tells Vardhan to fuck off, signs annulment papers, and finally gtfo, but not before giving Sid a clue about who’s really behind all this kaand.
Vardhan is like lmao, I didn’t need her anyway and goes about paying randomass people to frame Sid for medical malpractice. Ishani literally comes out of the coma and hightails it straight to the police station to save her man. (For the record: I wouldn’t even let a man interrupt an afternoon nap of mine.)
Oh btw, by this point Anjali was like bohut ho gaya and fucked off to go play a Naagin on Colors. Good for her. 🐍🐍🐍
Sid and Ishani start working on exposing Vardhan. Coz appropriate R&R after getting up from a goddamn coma, what’s that!?!??!? JUST SHAKE IT OFF!!!!!!!!! PFFFFFFFT, TAKE A CROCIN OR TWO!!!!
Lo and behold, Dr. Shashank is killed in an accident. (We haven’t really seen him for the last………………………………… like 20 episodes or so? So…. do we really care at this point? Not really. Mohnish didn’t even show up to shoot the dead body waale shots. For the longest time I was like PAKKA SHASHANK NAHI HOGA, FACE NAHI DIKHA RAHEIN, KOI AUR HAI YAAR!!!!!!!!!!! But nope, all the characters identify him by face……… So yeah, egg on MY face.)
Sid’s mummy drops the bomb at the cremation that Sid is Shashank’s son and should light the funeral pyre. A very cool fun appropriate time for Anjali AND SID to find that out!!!!!
Sid and Ishani channel their sads into exposing Vardhan. Hallelujah, finally a win for the unluckiest people in this show. FFS even the little child who got impaled on a rod and Nurse Philo’s daughter with terminal brain cancer have had better lives.
Sid proposes to Ishani. He says he’s been accepted into some program in America and wants her to come with to start a new life there. Ishani is like nope, YEH MERA INDIA SANJIVANI, I LOVE MY INDIA SANJIVANI.
Ishani’s Mama/Mami come for rishta talks and catch the two almost making out in an on-call room and are all hawwwwwwwwww cheeeeeeee sanskaaaaaaar, etc. They turn out to dislike Sid coz najaayaz. And are rudeass snobby assholes to him and his family. Sid is understandably quite mad.
INSTEAD OF TALKING THAT SHIT THROUGH WITH HER, HE DITCHES ISHANI AT THE FUCKING MANDAP VIA TEXT AND FLIES OFF TO AMERICA. VIA TEXT. VIA TEXTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. We are all reminded once again, that Tellywood Men Ain’t Shit.
Except for Drs. Rahil and Neil who have categorically maintained their Very Good Boy crowns 👑👑👑👑 throughout the run of this show. Gold stars to them for achieving the impossible. 🌟🌟🌟
Sanjivani is on fire. Like, metaphorically it was always on fire, but this time literally. Unhinged Ishani runs riiiiiiight into the burning building.
3 years later………..
Sanjivani has been rebuilt. By Gaurav Chopra whose name is Navratna Singh, lololololol. An appropriate name because he does seem to be quite thanda thanda cool cool. He reopens and invites all the old staff back to pitch in and restore the place back to its old glory.
Anjali is a guest lecturer in Germany and may or may not come back to Sanjivani soon, depending on her Naagin transformation schedule.
Rishabh now seems to be a semi-decent human being????? Still a bit of a self-obsessed idiot, but definitely seems to be not as much of an asshole.
Rahil is super-serious and also bitter that his best friend just fucked off to America and hasn’t bothered keeping in touch. No one knows where Ishani is.
Ishani is now some kinda nervous wreck who spends her time doing pottery, but not the sexy Ghost kind. Just very sad and jittery and constantly popping anxiety pills (which looked like green Cadbury Gems to me???????) She can’t seem to help a person who sustains a semi-serious injury near her, completely freezing up in the moment.
Mr. Thanda Thanda Cool Cool finds her at the pottery studio, seems quite familiar with her, and tries to gently persuade her to come back to her first love: medicine.
But ofc heterosexuality rears its ugly head and sis can only think of the trash boy that ditched her.
Mr. TTCC brings her to Sanjivani but she behaves exactly like a toddler on the first day of school. There’s having to be coaxed out of the vehicle, reluctant dragging of feet, weeping, the works.
Precap shows her yelling at TTCC and saying he’s the boss of Sanjivani, not her, and kis haq se pakda hai, chodo mera haath!!!!!!!!!! And he gently reminds her of the wedding vows he took, to never let go of her.
Looks like the poor dude may have invested and rebuilt all this just for her and……………… in the end he’s gonna have to let her go to Dr. FuckBoi, mirroring the end of DMG, which……………… *prolonged, defeated sigh*
AND THAT’S WHAT YOU MISSED ON GLEE SANJIVANI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sanjivani 2
I finally binged the episodes & here’s my impression so far:
Note: I’ve never watched DMG or the previous Sanjivani. If there’s anything I should know do share, thanks!
**warning: long post + spoilers ahead!**
The Seniors:
Dr. Shashank Gupta the first time I saw him I just had this warm feeling in my heart. The guy has such charisma & radiate so much warmth & kindness I instantly fell in-love with him. I love love his dynamics with every single character in the show. I’m a sucker for platonic bonds and this guy has it all. A father figure & a mentor. Without a doubt my favorite character & I’m very glad they didn’t kill him off.
Dr. Juhi Singh a brilliant neurosurgeon. Kind & soft but something happened that made Dr. Shashank fire her from the hospital. Honestly the flashback scenes made her & Dr. Shashank look like ex-lovers but from what I read that was not the case & I’m glad. I’m not down for a romantic relationship between the two. I love her relationship with Dr. Shashank as mentor-student & I want more of it! She’s such a badass boss lady, I fucking love her. how beautiful is Gurdip? like, wow
Dr. Anjali Gupta I would like to start by saying that Sayantani is a Goddess. This is the first show I’ve seen of her and I. Am. Sold. She carries herself with so much grace & elegance leaves me in Aww every time she’s on screen, the woman commands attention teach me, Queen! Now coming to her character, Dr. Anjali is very determined & ambitious, has her eyes set on a goal but she has certain insecurities especially with regards to her relationship with her father. She does not like Dr. Juhi at all & and I’m very curious to know why. (Is she Shashank’s only family member? where’s her mother?)
Mr. Vardhan Makhija money minded. Likes to mess with other people by feeding on their insecurities for shits & giggles. A certified douche. Seems to have a thing for Anjali. but, like, who wouldn’t? I like him purely because of Rohit Roy’s performance. He’s that character I know I’m gonna love to hate.
The Juniors:
Dr. Siddhant Mathur a charismatic playboy with a good heart but a criminal none the less. I don’t know how to feel about his relationship with his patients. On one hand i like it on the other hand I hate it. He discriminates between his patients according to class & that is something a doctor should not do. It’s completely unethical. I get he has good intentions, but it doesn’t make it any less wrong or illegal I really don’t like how they’re glorifying this on the show. Putting a patient through unnecessarily procedure is a criminal offense & strips him off his medical license. There's no mystery about his character so far. A big softie & an open book.
Dr. Ishani Arora arrogant, rude & has so much baggage. Honestly, she was too much for me at the beginning. As cliche as it is, I am used to warm sunshines girls on my screen but with Ishani it’s like ice, blizzards & snow. I mean, the whole air around her feels cold. Ice. Cold. you know from the corpse? bffs? get it? *winkwink* One hell of a smart woman & savage af. Can be such a bitch sometimes I actually like that about her lol. Has me cackling every time she selectively wipes off human contact. I still don’t know how to feel about her yet, but I do find her background intriguing. If there’s a character I’d pick to analyze, it would be her. A tough coconut.
Sid/Ishani pairing In general I need to be invested in the characters to actually ‘ship’ them which usually happens much much later in a show. So currently I have no impression about the pair other than they look good together on screen but then again it’s a good looking cast & they all look good together on screen. That Juhi/Vardhan face-off? jfc.
Dr Rishab Vaidya A miniature Vardhan but with extra extra slime.
Dr. Asha Kanwar + Dr. Aman Gehlot two peas in a pod.
Dr. Rahil Shekhar even though I haven’t seen much of him, but he seems to me the only unproblematic character out of the lot. please, keep him this way!
Dr. Neil Lama Lau what kind of doctor faints at the sight of blood? shouldn’t that be like a prerequisite for studying medicine? smh.
Performance:
Oh boy.. I have a lot, and I mean ah-loooot, to say about this, but I'll just say the Junior cast really need to up their game to keep up with the senior cast because so far they are lacking behind. The writers really need to put some elbow grease into these characters.
Editing & everything else:
The first episodes were a fucking mess. & Can someone tell me how many hours a day are there in the Sanjivani universe?. I am not a fan of the lighting. I’m all for the ‘gloom’ but this is too fucking much. Like, I get they want to go for the ‘serious’ effect but dude what's the point when people can’t even see? I do appreciate the lack of powerpoint transitions tho and the absence of 100x zoom in/zoom out. +1000 brownie points just for this!
Finally...
I don’t see myself watching the show on a daily basis there’s nothing gripping me as of yet, but i’ll probably binge it every other week or so when I feel like it.
*Special mention to how tellywood finally made use of the cloud! About fucking time.

SP has this habit of interfering in scripts like it did with RKC, EBSS et al, and then pulling the plug when it's interference doesn't work anyways (DSJZ didn't even get an ending afaik). Do you think same happened with KHKT & Sanjivani or here the producers were at fault?
Idk what the deal with KHKT is coz I completely stopped thinking about it the second I stopped watching it, but it’s certainly the case with Sanjivani. Star ainvayi mein forced the SidAsha marriage for drama and then kept amping up the BS with Vardhan and his revenge and then ratcheted it up to the point where they just fucking killed off Shashank?!?!?!!?!? WE STILL DON’T KNOW WHY TF VARDHAN WANTED HIS REVENGE FOR HIS BLOODY SWARGWAASI DIDI?!?!?!?!? Anjali??!?!?? Juhi?????? The characters we came for and were so invested in just disappeared overnight?????? And now with forcing this leap and bringing in NV and forcing this triangle that’s just so damn stupid. We were in this to see the medical background and invested in these characters (both the former established ones and the new ones) as doctors and they completely lost that aspect of the show in 2 months and made it into a ridiculous shadow of what it was and essentially ruined the whole franchise. Fuck Star Plus for ruining this show and most of all, the amazing character of Sid and making him go from one of the most wholesome male leads ever to one of the biggest insufferable chutiyas.
