MelimeL Digital Art Design Announces 10th Annual Women Empowerment Event Will Be The Last
NEW YORK, New York (01/26/2022) - Creative design company MelimeL Digital Art Design and the women-owned business and professionals platform, The sisSTAR Loop, announce that the 10th Annual Women Empowerment Event in March 2022 will be the last for the foreseeable future.
The company is celebrating a decade of women empowerment for its 10th Annual installment, but there are no plans to continue the event after March 2022. The 10th Annual Women Empowerment Event is slated to be a hybrid event featuring virtual programming as well as a limited, in-person event in NYC with this year's panelists (subject to change to full virtual depending on the ongoing COVID pandemic).  The 2022 panelists feature women in culinary arts, fashion, and journalism, including Chef Elle Simone Scott (Co-Founder of SheChef Inc.), Pia Soy (Owner of apple body fashion line The Pia Shop), and Veralyn Williams (Award Winning Journalist). The event will also honor entrepreneurs Sabrina Grandchamps (Owner of Grandchamps restaurant) and Carolina Contreras (Owner of Miss Rizos Salon) and highlight special guest, Galit Adani (Founder & Executive Director of Dance To Unite). Other special features are in the works to celebrate the decade of the event, including appearances from past panelists and guests. More event updates and announcements are pending.
When the 1st Annual Women Empowerment Event was held in March 2013, MelimeL didn't anticipate what an immense success and impactful platform the event would turn out to be. It was a yearly marker for many of the participants and guests who were part of the journey because the event provided a safe space to discuss issues and sensitive topics, network and connect with brilliant minds, was open and welcoming for men to join, and celebrated and acknowledged the diverse voices and accomplishments of those on the panel.  There was a lack of diversity and women of color on other women empowerment type of events at the time, but MelimeL created an annual tradition that highlighted the faces and voices that were lacking in the collective of women centered events.  Each year after the 1st Annual was just as special, influential, and empowering.
While the annual event was a highly anticipated event during Women's History Month, dwindling sales, costly marketing, and a shift in energy over the years made producing the event a challenge.  Faced with that reality, and compounded by the impact of COVID-19, the decision to bring the Annual Event to an end after Year 10 was extremely difficult.
"I felt a calling to pivot.  As a creative artist and mompreneur, pivoting was a recurring theme in my spirit as I embark on major life changes and new creative endeavors. I do feel like Oprah when she announced Season 25 of The Oprah Winfrey Show would be the last; it is bittersweet, but I knew it was time to table this passion project for now.  It brought me immense joy and pride putting this event together year after year.  While the 10th Annual will be the last, it might come back years down the line.  You never know what can happen, but for now, I look forward to celebrating a decade of women empowerment and expressing my sincerest gratitude to every single person who was part of the legacy and journey of the Annual Women Empowerment Event," says MelimeL, Creative Artist and Owner of MelimeL Digital Art Design and Founder of The sisSTAR Loop.
The heart of the Annual Women Empowerment Event lives on in the everlasting memories, brave conversations, powerful testimonies, and profound introspection it made on the lives of those who were in attendance and witnessed the magic of its impact firsthand.  "Our goal with the event was to create an annual tradition that moved the needle forward for women of all walks of life to celebrate one another in empowering energy and share their success stories and struggles in ways that uplift and inspire all of us as a collective," says MelimeL. While the annual event will be on hiatus, other projects and creative works will continue.
"One thing I do want to make clear is that the women empowerment platform itself is not going away; conversations and content around women empowerment will continue on the event IG (@annualwee), The Empowerment Network (TEN Magazine) and via The sisSTAR Loop. Women empowerment is the movement!  And it continues..."
Tickets for the 10th Annual Women Empowerment Event are on sale and can be bought online at www.mldigitalart.com/wetix or via Eventbrite. Tickets include all access pass to virtual events and digital swag bag. The event is open to all globally and pre-registration is required to join. Men and youth over 12 are welcome and highly encouraged to attend and participate. Stay tuned for more updates, schedules, and event announcements.

From the Strategist: The Best Turkeys You Can Order Online, According to Experts
Tumblr media

From fresh to fried, how to get turkey shipped straight to your door, from the Strategist
Thanksgiving 2020 is shaping up to be unlike any other. More people will be driving to see their relatives than flying, and many folks may not travel at all, choosing instead to spend the holiday with close friends (or with Zoom). Factor in the need to put together an elaborate meal, and stress is inevitable — especially when it comes to sourcing a turkey. If you’ve never been in charge of the bird before and have no idea where to begin, don’t fret. We spoke to four experts, including the heads of two professional test kitchens and a fourth-generation butcher, who told us about the best turkeys you can get shipped straight to your door (including one option that’ll arrive mostly cooked, requiring minimal day-of work). Just be sure to order soon, as Thanksgiving is only a few short weeks away.
The Best Turkey to Order Online
Tumblr media
There are dozens of places to get a turkey from online, but Gaby Melian, the test kitchen manager at Bon Appétit, says that she’s always turned to D’Artagnan for high quality birds. Over the five years she’s been ordering turkeys for the magazine, she estimates she’s bought roughly 100. “This year was extra challenging, due to COVID and long distances, since the team was in different places,” she says. (Add to that the challenge that BA orders turkeys in summer, when they’re not yet in season.) “I was able to get them through D’Artagnan here in New Jersey and they were sent as far as L.A. This company is reliable, and their products are fantastic,” she says.
The Best Fried Turkey to Order Online
Tumblr media
If you don’t want to spend hours making a turkey, consider the deep fried turkeys from Brooklyn-based operation Jive Turkey, which “has its very own cult following,” says Elle Simone Scott, executive editor at America’s Test Kitchen and founder of SheChef Inc. “Their fried turkey has been their claim to fame since being featured on Food Network in 2009.” The company ships nationwide out of Chicago and offers 15 versions of fried turkey, including lemon pepper, red wine cranberry, and barbecue. Best of all, it only has to be reheated on the big day.
The Best Heritage Turkey to Order Online
Tumblr media
If genetic diversity is important to you, consider purchasing a heritage turkey like UK-favorite KellyBronze, now sold through one iconic Michigan retailer. “Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is really the granddaddy of mail order food in the Midwest,” says Brenna Houck, editor of Eater Detroit. “Around Thanksgiving, it’s basically a one stop shop for anything one could possibly want for an at-home feast. Want a heritage-breed turkey? Zingerman’s is shipping out 15 to 17 pound rarified birds from a farm in Crozet, Virginia. Need a brine for that turkey? Zingerman’s has you covered.”
The Best Organic, Free Range Turkey to Order Online
Tumblr media
For those who like to make sure their turkey lived as happy a life as possible, there’s the certified organic turkeys from Mary’s, based in California and operated by the Pitman family since 1954. “I love Mary’s because they’re a family-owned business doing meat the right way,” says Cara Nicoletti, founder of Seemore Meats & Veggies and a fourth-generation butcher. “Their turkeys are all free-range, treated humanely, and fed a vegetarian diet.” The company offers not only organic turkeys, but heritage and non-GMO varieties as well.
The Best Small Turkey to Order Online
Tumblr media
If you’re feeding a small group of just four to five people, a whole bird may be too much. Luckily, Greensbury, which specializes in grass-fed livestock and sustainably sourced meats, has you covered with this 4–5 pound turkey breast. “They control the entire process, from the farm to your door, and the care that goes into their products shows,” says Nicoletti. “I love when meat companies are super transparent about where their meat comes from, and they do a great job explaining this to customers.”

I'm not a religious person by any means these days but I have followed several faiths. I give them all credit for shaping/ molding me into the person that I am in my present state and the force that I will be in the future. Honestly, I NEVER pictured accomplishing so much in such a short amount of time. I used to think I wasn't worthy of greatness because of my circumstances, my womanhood, the ever changing standards of society and my insecurities. I didn't learn how to respect my worth until I hit rock bottom. To whomever is reading this, I hope you never do. If you do, you already know what the lowest point feels like. Why not test your abilities to see how great you can be? What do you have to lose when you already lost everything... right? I heard someone say recently on her Instagram story that she felt like she was cheating at life because she's living vicariously through being herself. I held onto that same sentiment for a few years now but I'm learning to not feel guilty. I am deserving of all of this. You are too. Enough of my blabbering...I want to congratulate the incredible young women from @shechefinc for experiencing such an incredible program this year. I had an amazing experience teaching young culinarians last month. I thank you for the experience and @shechefinc_elle for trusting me to teach for a few days.
