. Just like the fuse that ignites the whole bomb, we are important. Black women - be ready. White women - get ready. Red women - stay ready. For, this is our time and all must realize that.

I can’t believe it’s been 20 years today since Paul Wellstone died. Anyway, I haven’t seen anything about the anniversary yet today, aside from the radio here, so I thought I’d do my own little tribute.
20 years ago today, on a crisp Northern Minnesota fall morning, the United States lost one of its best Senators, Minnesota lost one of her favorite sons, and we all lost some of the best people in politics. Senator Paul Wellstone, his wife Sheila, their daughter Marcia, campaign aides Mary McEvoy, Tom Lapic and Will McLaughlin, and pilots Richard Conroy and Micheal Guess died in a plane crash near Eveleth. Their loss is still deeply felt in my home state, and in the Democratic Party, and we’re still fighting to push forward all the things he believed in.
Rest In Peace, Paul, Sheila and everyone. We’ll remember you.

California Voters:  Vote YES on Proposition 10--Fairness to Renters paying in excess of 30% of their income on rent.
Make it clear to greedy developers and unscrupulous landlords that the rent is too damn high!  We’re counting on grassroots supporters to step up and vote for Proposition 10 on November 6. Your vote and your voice COUNT! Give the right of city self-determination back to each city government = local control.  People on fixed incomes like retirees, veterans, and others require reasonable rents.  Median home values have increased by 80% since 2011.   More than half the renters in the state of California spend MORE than 30% of their income on rent (Haas Institute for Fair & Inclusive Society, UC Berkeley).

Love in Kilnerry Movie Review
Love in Kilnerry is definitely the kind of movie that you’d expect to see as a sixties sex-romp comedy but it’s actually brand new.
Tumblr media
Kilnerry is a small “anytown” with a big problem—their drinking water is tainted by a chemical called P-172 which, while not a health hazard, will massively increase their libido. They get the news from an EPA agent (Debargo Sandal) at a town meeting and respond in several different ways without really knowing what to expect.
One of the funniest turns is from Sybil Lines, who plays Aednat McLaughlin, a classic disapproving “spinster” who is anti-romance and definitely anti-sex… of course, she becomes among the most liberated and libidinous as the additive in the water takes hold. Another unlikely character, town gossip Brigid (Sheila Stasack), gets a mad crush on Mayor Jerry Boylan (Tony Triano) and things get very wild between them. A stuffy priest, Father Wesley O’Dell (James Patrick Nelson), justifies his sudden need for nudity by saying Adam and Eve didn’t have clothes, either. Then there’s the sheriff’s dad—and the local mail carrier—Fergal O’Reilly (Roger Hendricks Simon) who takes to delivering packages with his own package fully exposed!
There are more than just raunchy jokes and sight gags to Love in Kilnerry, though. After all, “love” is right there in the title. With inhibitions dispensed, a few of the previously uptight or overly shy residents open themselves up to the possibility of real relationships. The humor is nicely balanced with drama and some heartwarming moments as well. That’s not to say it’s a perfect film—there are a few gags I found a bit too goofy, but of course, comedy is subjective.
Kudos must go to Daniel Keith, who not only stars in the film as Sheriff Gary, but also produced, directed, and wrote Love in Kilnerry. It’s long been a “passion project” of his; press notes say that he came up with this quirky tale as a play during his stint as an actor in the TV shows “The Blacklist” and “Luke Cage.” The play’s performances were well-received, so Keith took the necessary steps to find financing for this film, which has been picked up by Regal Cinemas for a theatrical run. Love in Kilnerry goes to the small screen via streaming platforms in October.
If you love movies like Calendar Girls or Hope Springs, you’ll definitely enjoy Love in Kilnerry.

Evidence That The Real Estate Market is Beginning To Turn
Tumblr media
In Connecticut’s collegiate New Haven, where the median asking price for a home rose significantly over the past year, broker John Cuozzo has noticed a shift. “You’re seeing somewhat of a slowdown in aggressive asking prices,” says Cuozzo, who co-founded New Haven’s Press/Cuozzo Realtors, adding that price cuts have become more frequent over the past several weeks and that this summer has felt like a more typical one for the area’s university-driven market. That’s not an anomaly as the housing market shifts into a lower gear. Across the U.S., buyers are feeling squeezed as mortgage rates and home prices have risen significantly. About 3.2 million first-time buyers could be priced out this year, according to an estimate from National Association of Realtors senior economist Nadia Evangelou. The New York Times and Financial Times Digital Subscription Combo 77% OFF “We’re seeing a cooling off from an impossibly frothy market, where there were just way too many buyers relative to the number of sellers,” says Benjamin Keys, a professor of real estate at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, who says higher mortgage rates may also deter homeowners who bought or refinanced at near-record low rates during the pandemic from entering the market. Those twin dynamics have helped take some air out of highflying listing-price increases. In June, the median listing price of a home was about 17% higher than the previous year, according to Realtor.com—a slight deceleration from the month prior. (Barron’s and the company that operates Realtor.com are both owned by News Corp.) To uncover areas where listing-price growth has slowed most sharply, Barron’s used Realtor.com data from 100 of the most populous U.S. metropolitan areas and found where June’s median listing-price growth was lower than its 12-month average. Wall Street Journal Newspaper | WSJ Newspaper | WSJ Print Save 30% Off Nationally, listing-price growth in June is still above the past year’s average of 12%, the analysis found. But some metros have seen a more significant slowdown in year-over-year price increases. In New Haven, for example, the data showed that median year-over-year listing-price growth in June was about half of its 12-month trend. To minimize the impact of a seasonal slowdown, we analyzed areas’ year-over-year listing-price changes instead of month-over-month. To spot areas where a trend of fast price growth could be reversing, we excluded metros where listing-price growth was negative over the past year. Listing prices aren’t necessarily a proxy for sales prices, which can get bid up or bargained down—but that doesn’t mean they’re meaningless. “Slowing listing prices are almost certainly a leading indicator of slowing or lower sales prices,” says Ralph McLaughlin, chief economist at real estate start-up Haus. Connecticut’s Fairfield County, an exurb of New York City popular with longer-distance commuters, topped the list. The median listing price in the Bridgeport metro area was $982,000 in June—a 4% increase from the year prior and 28 percentage points below its 12-month average increase of 32%. “The environment has changed,” says Amy Barsanti of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty in Darien, Conn. “Houses are no longer selling with multiple offers the first weekend.” New York Times and The Economist Epaper 3 Years The red-hot fevers in Boise, Idaho, and Austin, Texas, Nos. 2 and 3 on our list, broke too, the data show. Median listing prices in both of these metros posted the slowest year-over-year growth since 2020 in June. In Austin, the typical summer lull has returned for the first time since the start of the pandemic, says Cord Shiflet, a real estate agent and president of the Austin Board of Realtors. That’s a much-needed break for buyers still in the market, who Shiflet says are no longer competing against dozens of other offers in a short period. In Boise, where home prices surged during the pandemic, Re/Max Capital City agent Sheila Smith says she is seeing “an extreme amount” of price drops and lots of new listings. “All we’re doing really is getting back to a more balanced market,” Smith says. “It’s just happening on steroids.” Other areas where median listing-price growth is lowest compared with its 12-month average include McAllen, Texas; Baton Rouge, La.; Las Vegas; Fresno, Calif.; Hartford, Conn.; and Denver. Cooling Down These metropolitan areas have seen the biggest slowdowns in listing prices compared to their one-year trends. The Mortgage Bankers Association, a trade group, anticipates home prices in the third quarter of 2022 to be 5.6% higher than the year prior—a significantly slower rate of annual appreciation than the 18.6% gain in the same quarter last year. Nor does it portend disaster. Slower home-price growth “doesn’t mean that the market is collapsing, it doesn’t mean we’re in a recession,” says Wharton’s Keys. “This cooling off is a normalization of the market.” More markets could be in for a similar slowdown in the coming months. “Price growth over the next year is going to be very, very different than what it has been over the past year to two years,” says Haus’s McLaughlin, who expects minimal price growth over the next year, with declines in some markets. “The big wild card is going to be what happens with supply,” he says. Lesbian Home Movie Project
The Lesbian Home Movie Project is made up of collections in partner with Woman Behind the Camera. The collections is made up of documentaries , film testimonies etc streaming lesbian like content as not everyone who was portrayed lesbian was. The movement started with a film maker by the name of Sheila McLaughlin who had missing reels she created and edited. A friend of hers was able to help her track several of this missing reels and was able to give be returned to Sheila via digitized copy. Sheila then shared her creations with some of her friends where she sparked courage and bravery among the women who also wanted to share they stories. In tern Sheila & Ruby Rich decided to build a project that allowed for lesbian home movies and films to be located and preserve for its art. Lesbian Home Project then became a non-profit and has been thriving ever since. The project now includes over 500 films and tapes from all over the United States of America. While browsing the collection and film makers I notice that most of them were older white women and that the lesbian project didn't really have a diverse ethnic group in representing lesbians. Of course a lot of the films were dated back well into the 1940s and so forth. It just goes to show that even in being excluded in a racial aspect , black women were excluded in sexuality as well. While I admire what they were trying to do , I most certainly think that they should be inclusive in including all dynamics and ethnicities in the Lesbian Home Project. Not only in the U.S but across the world as I believe it could have a greater impact.
