3 viral fantasy books I should read soon
Buying books and reading them are two entirely different hobbies...
Reading books and buying books are two separate hobbies. Before 2023 I counted over 50 unread books in my bookshelf. I made a promise to not buy more books before reading at least some of them, but that only lasted until July, when I was holidaying and ended up in bookstores. Playing bookshelf-tetris upon my return back to my apartment, I was forced to face the truth once again. I’ve bought…

When I saw that new tarn figure I immediately remembered your comic with him and overlord. My brain just went "look at your stupid little eyes" when I saw it💀
lmfao thank you, but those little eyes are light piped, not stupid now.

So some updates in what appears to be coming next post EarthSpark, and might be coming sooner than we think.
User JtPrime17 on TFW2005 has reported on the matter, reinforcing ProtoMan’s earlier comments.
The next show, & evidently its toyline too, is already in the works, no more EarthSpark after S2. The new thing however is 2025 might be when we’re gonna see it. Much sooner than I honestly expected. When in 2025 is not clear as of typing as we still haven’t heard of if/when the next batch of ES S2 will premier yet either. The toys for the new show are, either way, solicited to retailers for 2025.
The other leak is also intriguing, and maybe a sign Hasbro is loosening the leash. JtPrime17 also reports that the cast for the Decepticons LACKS Megs, Screamer & the Waves whatsoever. He can’t say more for understandable reasons, but this is quite a shake up, as Cyberverse, IDW, IDW2, EarthSpark, One & Skybound have all featured the Frag’d Four in some major capacity.
Perhaps this is a return to RiD15 style Decepticons? Not so much the beast theme, but the idea of using all new characters (Steeljaw, Clampdown, Underbite & so forth) or existing characters that don’t get used much like Cyclonus & the Stunticons.
Now RiD15 did eventually use Screamer & Soundwave as major villains, but curiously avoided Shockwave & never used Megatron (The Fallen doesn’t count). Skybound is following a similar approach with Shockwave as the current major villain, Soundwave having taken over leadership from Starscream (who may or may not be offline) & Megatron having escaped Cobra-La but having sustained major damage.
Perhaps Hasbro is realizing selling the same versions of the Frag’d Four with little variation (ES Shockwave is just the Cyberverse mold with Action Master colors, not matching the show at all) or not offering better size classes for kids & collectors (ES Bomber Soundwave is so far stuck as a One Step Changer and he shelfwarms horribly my way) doesn’t work.
The Terran toys that seem to do the best my way are Jawbreaker & Thrash, since I rarely see them stocked, where as Nightshade & Twitch are mostly shelf warmers. So new characters at least can work, & I hope to see some new ones or at least obscure ones getting a chance to shine like Finback, Bugly, Iguanus, Lugnut, Thunderblast & the like. It does appear Airachnid has new relevance once more via TFONE, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her included in the next thing.
On that note, the new show doesn’t appear to be a One continuation (I feel like Protoman & JtPrime17 would’ve eluded to it), as the lack of Megatron in particular doesn’t make sense in that context. It’s also not a Skybound adaption either since the Decepticon cast is mostly G1 cartoon S1-S2 characters thus far.
No Autobot cast was teased yet to my knowledge though until told otherwise I’m gonna assume it’s Marvel G1, RiD15, Energon, RotB logic: Optimus and/or Bumblebee as the main Autobots again, a mix & match team of old & new Autobots vs a new Decepticon or Terrorcon faction with a new leader for the time being. Steeljaw, Scorponok, Bludgeon, RatBat, Alpha Q, Scourge, and Shatter are what we got before, so I’m eager to see who we get next.

silly ass question maybe but how easy/hard is it to sell/ship off junk in general?? i mean idk if i actually have any figures or whatever of high enough value but I might look into it. sorry if this is like. too broad or vague lol
the process of putting up listings and shipping is piss easy, actually making a sale really just comes down to how in demand what youre selling is, even then it can still be a wild card. most of what ive sold has been hard to find sealed toys that a lot of people want, but theres still some stuff i thought would sell fast that has sat unsold for months whereas common shelfwarmers i thought would take forever to move sold almost instantly. so its just kinda random. a general rule of thumb when first starting out you wanna set your prices a bit lower than the average for any given item to get your foot in the door
generally though when it comes to figures theres a market for literally everything, even if it doesnt have much value individually theres almost certainly someone out there that wants it

collecting toys means you inevitably start to sound like you are speaking a made up language btw. size classes are nothing. shortpacked, chase figures, retool vs redeco vs pretool, shelfwarmer, gangmoulding, 3P, 4P, repurposing, running change... unfortunately you become unfit for polite conversation after a while.

Today's photo is of GX-03 Combattler V! Was telling someone about how this lad has been shelfwarming at a local store for years now and they said "you should go get him" and apparently that was all the impetus I needed. Can really see how even early on, the Soul of Chogokin line had a distinct, trendsetting style

Hasbro's customer support is funny as hell. If your Transformer arrives broken they'll let you exchange it, but only if they have it in stock. Otherwise they send back whatever they have that's equal retail price. One guy got a rare Shattered Glass figure. Another guy got a shelfwarmer absolutely no one wanted. It's roulette with action figures.

Hey, TransFormers fans! Do you wanna build up your army?
The Studio Series 86 Sweeps are being discounted in Smyths in the UK. They're shelfwarming alongside Kingdom Tigatron and Coronation Starscream, who are also in abundance right now (April 2022).

And it begins, the EarthSpark toys are on clearance.
So far it’s just these size classes, but it’s not looking long for this toy line. None of it really moves super well. The store I was in moves the Tacticons a little better, but probably only because they’re so cheap.
Among the Deluxe line, Nightshade continues to shelfwarm, with the ROTB and Legacy toy lines still doing better by comparison.
If this changes for TFOne’s toy line later this year remains to be seen, as we still have no clear idea on what the movie is like or what the TFs look like. A candid shot of an Orion Pax popcorn bucket is the best we got, and most people are playfully making fun of how chunky it is like Energon Optimus Prime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Art by staticoctopus on Twitter, it’s cute and fits very well with the topic, lol).
Meanwhile, Skybound’s still knocking it out of the park, and is garnering far more discussion and speculation that EarthSpark can ever hope to have.
It’s doing what Bob Budiansky had been making a point of from the start: you need Earth and humans to properly tell the stories of alien robots that turn into vehicles, just having them only on their own doesn’t work unless it’s Beast Wars or Beast Machines. Because you get WFC, Prime Wars, and Cyberverse when you strip Transformers of its humanity figuratively and literally.
It’s why EarthSpark is so weird, because it is trying so hard to make statements it has no qualifications to make, and pretty much treats most of its non Megatron, non-Mandroid and non Jawbreaker male characters like morons. Robbie practically dies and the show treats it somewhat as a joke, instead having Alex & Dot love up Mo while Robbie lays there probably thinking of the worst retirement homes he can shove his parents in to. The human X Transformer relations are still frankly terrible unless you’re a Malto. If modern writers despise the Chosen One story, they’re sure going all in on the Maltos as being chosen for a vague destiny, aren’t they?
Meanwhile, Skybound does this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Telling a much better and heartfelt story about humans and Autobots coming together with future trials yet to come. There’s a reason people criticize the inept and some that shady EarthSpark Optimus (his only saving grace currently is being voiced by Alan Tudyk), but most universally praise Skybound Optimus as the return to form Transformers desperately, desperately needed.
On top of that, spoilers for context, Sparkplug sacrificed himself to save Optimus, by merging with the Matrix, revitalizing it. Now Optimus is guided by the human wisdom of a repentant Sparkplug, who previously was consumed by the horrors of the war he served in, the death of his wife & eldest son and his alcoholism used to drown it out.
Now Optimus is seeing what appears to be Sparkplug’s memories due to his influence of the Matrix.
Tumblr media
It’s led many to assume this is Optimus stepping into the role of father to Spike, mirroring Star Saber & Jan. I think that’s terrific idea, Optimus better understanding humans from the get go but now having Sparkplug as his Jaga to potentially guide him further.
It also seems to be a reverse Hi-Q from the Marvel comics.
Tumblr media
And that resulted in Hi-Q evolving into a new Optimus (mostly because of the Action Master toy at the time, but still.)
Tumblr media
This is what EarthSpark wants to be but refuses to do, it’s what IDW thought it was trying to be, but absolutely failed, and now we’re at TFONE.
Hasbro is now trying to properly advertise it with an animated logo on places like Instagram. The movie is set to come out this September if all goes well with the toys trickling out around that time (though toy distribution being what it is, probably January 2025 at this rate).
Like EarthSpark, One is stated to have “political” commentary and characters like Nightshade according to leaks and rumors. This I guarantee will kill this movie faster than EarthSpark if the story and characters aren’t up to snuff. Thankfully, audience test screenings have been very positive so far, but another problem we’ve all anticipated. Comments about the official logo now have people incredibly confused and hesitant to go near ONE because they don’t know if it’s Bayformers, Bee/ROTB, or something new, and being told it’s a new thing doesn’t seem to be helping…
Skybound remains the best thing Transformers has had in a long time. One has the potential, but I think its main “non politically driven” deterrent is it being another movie with vague ties to Bayformers and being a cartoon movie. (Some are actually angry it’s an animated movie and not a live action thing, it’s confusing…) There’s apparently plans to to make TMNT: The Last Ronin into an R movie under Paramount, as it too is the only good thing TMNT has going for it (besides Mutant Mayhem, but we’ll see how that goes for its TV show), so it’s entirely possible Hasbro may chose to do the same with the Energon Universe, as it’s the only thing period Transformers has going for it right now…

Here’s some bionicle urban legends, because this fandom is hungry for crumbs
- the Toa were originally going to be all-male until a female Lego executive convinced the creators to make one of them female, they chose Gali. Ga-Matoran being all-female is the only reason there were women at all in Bionicle, because every time they didn’t have to stick to the “blue is female“ rule for canister sets the blue one was male (vezok, takadox, vamprah, tarix). Nvm there was Makuta Gorast who was green, almost forgot about her.
- Stone and ice were added later in development to take advantage of Lego’s large production lines; originally the elements were just water, fire, earth, and air.
- The G2 creative team had almost no story plan at all, most of the lore and names in the chapter books were made up by the author on the spot after the team told him they “hadn’t even thought of those things”.
- The decision to cancel Bionicle G2 was made during production of the Journey to One Netflix miniseries sometime in 2015, the very year the line was launched. So yes G2 was doomed from the start.
- Constraction in general was killed by shelfwarming Star Wars ultrabuilds. Lego wanted to stick to armored figures and droids, but Disney mandated that they make sets of sequel characters who didn’t translate well into buildable figures (eg Rey and Finn).

This is my “intended to be clearance hunting but then I found random stuff I wanted” Target run. 😝 The ornaments were 90 cents each, heck yes! And Potion Nova was only $3.50, I’m surprised to see her shelfwarm when she’s the only unique brushable we’ve gotten in ages! #mylittlepony #mlp #mylittlepony #mylittleponyfriendshipismagic #mylittleponycollector #mlpcollector #mlpg4 #potionlife #mylittleponypotionlife #kittencatfe https://www.instagram.com/p/CKfFhIQgfdJ/?igshid=1fn4j6xara5t4
