smell the air. listen i know, but it’s 41 years back into the past where pollution was a lot less and i’m also in indiana. in this reality i live in southern Canada, where it’s basically california but w the harsh winters. i wanna sniff that SMALL TOWN AIR 😤

speaking of, i wonder if winters in hawkins are harsh. i like to imagine they are because indiana is up north but is it just as bad? i mean i dont think anyone can beat canada but a close second maybe??

IM SO EXCITED FOR GROCERY PRICES LMFAOOOOOOO. affordable prices and not spending $50 on three items MAN i can’t wait for that especially 🤌🤌🤌

im also Sooooo excited to make mixtapes i know its like a process with the record player and the recorder but i RLLY WANNA DO IT (esp make mixtapes for billy. ik he’s gonna hate them cause i do enjoy pop music and I WILL be putting songs on there that make me think of him regardless of genre 😤 but it’s the gesture that counts right? 😩)

OH MY GOD LITSENING TO THE RADIO AND HEARING THE DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY OF THE TECHNOLOGY VERSUS TODAY. Tv included, omg there’s no netflix none of that, you have to put on the right channel and the right time and actually sit through the commercials and stuff omg i forgot WE used to do that before the pandemic.

this might sound really really weird but I’m kinda excited to do my school assignments??? i mean here im so used to typing it up on a computer and submitting everything digitally but back then everything was handwritten or if you’re lucky on a type writer- I WANNA USE A TYPE WRITER SO BAD, i hope the school has them, better yet i hope my house has one causw gawdamn-

I agree. Like I know not a lot of shifters want to talk about how fucked shit can get but like it gets scary out there and I feel like it’s so irresponsible to pretend it’s all glitz and glamor.

Like genuinely I feel like a lot of people don’t understand just how real it is. Like obviously it’s as real as ours but it’s a really difficult thing to fully comprehend until you’ve actually done it. I worry so much for people shifting to places like Attack on Titan. Like are you prepared to see your friends get eaten alive in front of you. “Oh I knew that they were gonna die so I’ll be fine” these are real people you’re going to be in close proximity with you’re most likely going to get attached to in some capacity and even if you’re not it’s difficult to watch people die in front of you. And that goes for anywhere with any kind of violence. In Demon Slayer I almost threw up hearing and smelling demons, humans being devoured, etc. and it’s going to stick with me forever. I might not always think about it but when I do it fucks with me. The violence I’ve been forced to commit on other people because my life was on the line in most of my DRs fucks with me too.

I feel like we should talk about it more and we just don’t and it’s really upsetting cuz now I feel like I’m crazy for being so shaken about it, or being devastated by a friend’s death. Why should I feel weird for not being over the fact I was fucking strangled. Idk it just upset me that everyone wants to act like it’s got no flaws

Shifting Advice

(from the comment section of a livestream I watched yesterday) (hello to everyone who followed me here!!!)

1. You are shifting every single day even if you don’t realize it

2. You can group shift but since each person experiences different things you might have different recounts of your shift

3. You can shift to you group Dr by yourself. You don’t need to wait for your other people.

4. You don’t need a method to shift, but it can be helpful for focus and unwind.

5. You can put anything in your script. It can be the most embarrassing thing ever, the only person who knows is you.

6. You don’t even need a written script to shift. As long as you have it in your head, you will shift. (I use it because I find it helpful since I forget a lot)

7. You can shift anywhere. Literally anywhere. (Ex: I have a DR where I live in a made up place and just exist. I have a post apocalyptic DR where I travel through ruined cities. I have a DR where I live I. A cottage. I have a DR where I fly planes. I have a DR where I’m in space.)

8. Not all advice you receive will be right for you. What worked for one person might not work for you.

9. Sometimes you need to put down your phone and stop going on your socials for a bit. Clear your head and just shift.

10. Shifting tik tok is (mostly) toxic at times. Don’t believe everything someone says.

11. Stop using Character ai and all those apps for a day or two. (I don’t have a reason for this but I think you should connect more with your Dr than a robot)

12. Make a Dr scripting journal where you put all your thoughts about your Dr. You can write letters to your s/o or just plan your day in your Dr. I also record my shifting attempts

13. Make a dream journal or keep a journal by your bed. Makes it easier to remember dreams about your Dr or thoughts you have about shifting when you’re asleep so you don’t have to get blue light from your phone and then stay up for an extra hour

14. Take breaks!!!! Even if you are trying only once every weekend, you still need that mental break from thinking about your Dr. I know it may feel literally impossible but just put your phone down and hide your script or journal for a week or two and clear your mind. (After tonight I’m literally doing this because I think about my Dr 24/7 now and it’s getting severely unhealthy.)

15. Have fun with your experiences. You found shifting for a reason. And now maybe it feels like a chore. But you don’t have to force yourself to do something that takes your energy away. Do what makes you feel right and shift on your own terms.

At the end of the day it’s your choice. It doesn’t matter what theory behind shifting you believe because you are in control of your own mind.

You don’t have to follow this list exactly. You can pick and choose how to shift and make your experience unique to fit your needs.

Steve Harrington - Best Friend

the man, the myth, the legend. the rumors are true, he's a bit of an asshole (but lets be real, what teenage boy isn't?). like tina, he's extremely loyal to those he calls his friends, and those close enough to him are considered family. strangely enough, he has a passion for creating stories and has been building on one in particular for years.... too bad he's not very good at writing. always comes up with the coolest nicknames. king steve? yeah, king of adhd holy shit

Heather Holloway - Best Friend

the sweetest little thing you will ever meet. she's a busy bee (heavily involved in school activities, works, and has to study a lot for classes), so we're not as close as i'd like, but she loves going with us on adventures when she's free. the self-proclaimed photographer of the group and always captures our hangouts.

Tommy Hagan - Best (?) Friend

yeah i don't like this guy very much. lowkey evil and turns anyone in his general vicinity a little more evil. the only reason we're really friends is because we have the same friends. unfortunately, he has a killer sense of humor and can be a super fun person to be around. evil is an exaggeration ofc but it's a miracle i've put up with it for so long. king of teasing his friends, especially when it makes them uncomfortable. while the others are loyal, tommy would probably sell any of us for a really good sandwich.

Mark McConnell - Best Friend

non-canon character! we love to see it! (picture is the closest I could find to what he looks like) tbh one of my favorite friends in my DR. I think he's what the kids would call babygirl. generally reserved, prefers to fade to the background. unhealthy attachment to his letterman jacket. gets REALLY excited about things he's passionate about, but otherwise is an observer for the most part. definitely queer but you didn't hear this from me.

you do know that Billy is racist right...

*sighhhhhhhh* Alright, here we go…

Typically I don’t like getting into this argument because you’re not supposed to argue with a POC about what’s racist and what isn’t (I don’t actually know if you are poc or not this is a general statement I’m making), I know I don’t because it just doesn’t feel right, but here’s the thing.

When it comes to this character the one line he said that everyone’s going crazy for I’m going to have to disagree here because it’s just 1. too vague of a statement, of course you could argue that Billy talking about Lucas’ skin colour is implied in his statement and I agree, but not for the reasons you think.

And 2. there’s a reason Dacre changed this scene with the duffers regarding Billy’s potential racism because you’re creating a character who’s an antagonist who originally had no reason to be bad (until Dacre suggested the scene with his father) and then you wanna add racism into the mix? if the duffers really wanted to bring up the issue of racism during the 80s especially in small secluded areas like Hawkins, I’m pretty sure it would’ve been an actual subplot, but no they just wanted to use it as an additional reason to make Billy’s character initially unlikeable and it was so poorly written into the script and also Dacre was just straight up uncomfortable acting out that whole sequence so we can safely say the concept of Billy being a racist is scrapped from canon all together. I’m explaining this from the perspective of a film student because you can’t write an antagonist without a plausible reason and motive to be bad, so Dacre humanizing him and giving him that back story and lore is exactly what you do when it comes to character work, especially for antagonists like Billy (unless you wanna make the villain a basic villain with a basic story arc who’s sole purpose is to get in the hero’s way and die trying but in this case Billy never did that. He never really got into anyone’s way besides at the end of season 2 but it’s because he had no idea what’s going on and in HIS mind he thinks he’s saving Max from a fucked up situation. And im not even going to start with season 3 because we all know; bro was possessed, he wasn’t himself, Vecna was acting out entirely through him Billy had no say in any of it. In fact he even showed remorse and shame during the little time Vecna let him be in control of himself before abruptly taking over.) Also, yes you can be from an educated and woke society (California is a blue state and the equal opportunities act in the states already passed and Billy leaves for hawkins in fall 1984 so it’s already well established in society at that time that being racist is not acceptable) and still be a bigot, but I really just don’t believe this is the case for Billy.

What I think the issue here is his father, now hear me out, hear me out.

In the book “Runaway Max” it is brought up that Neil is a huge supporter of Reagen who at the time was a republican and attempted to abolish the equal opportunities act bill but ultimately failed of course. Max even says it herself that Neil is racist and a white supremacist. What does that tell you? His father is the whole problem. Because we all know that Billy gets beaten and blamed for everything that happens whether it’s Max’s fault or his Neil will take any excuse to physically hurt Billy. And being how Neil is so adamant on Billy watching over Max and being in charge of her, what would happen if Neil caught Max with Lucas who is black and we know Neil’s views on that demographic of people? What do you think would happen?

Of course, we could also bring up that if Billy was racist it would be a learned behaviour from his father. Though, to be honest, considering how much Billy tries to rebel against his father, I think it’s safe to say that would include Neil’s morals and beliefs, so I highly doubt it.

Going back to my first point, I think Billy did say that about Lucas not because he hates Lucas but because his father would and would take out that well known hatred out on Billy. It was more of a warning for both of their safety because of how insane Neil is. That’s why I think Billy said that and acted that way in terms of their friendship because he doesn’t want to deal with the consequences of his father’s wrath.

We can also see this in season 3, when Billy is working full time, starting to take control of his life (likely saving up money so he could leave and move back to California) he doesn’t even care about what Max is doing let alone dating Lucas, he’s too busy trying to get his life together.

So no, I don’t think Billy is a racist and I’ve listed all of my reasons why from a canonical standpoint using evidence from the story, plus my own analysis on his character as an actor myself.

Now from a shifter’s standpoint; I really don’t wanna hear y’all judge my choice of S/O considering some of y’all shift for active psychopaths and murderers meanwhile I’m shifting for a dude who’s been deeply traumatized and wants to live his life in peace and find true love.

To conclude; this is entirely my opinion and my belief on the topic. If you believe the opposite you’re fully entitled to, no one’s gonna attack you or try to convince you otherwise. But the thing is with people like myself who like Billy’s character and indulge in his lore and fanfiction we’re constantly getting criticized and harassed and even as far as labeled as bad people just because we view him from a different perspective. I believe it’s time we all grow up and respect each other’s opinions because not everyone agrees with everyone and that’s the way of the world. freedom of thought freedom of speech.
