Rotti is a great villain. Many villains are motivated by greed, but with Rotti you get a real sense that his greed is not motivated by vanity or opulence, but deep bitterness and cynicism after having survived in a time of societal collapse. He believes the harshness of the laws of supply and demand can be relied on when the softness of people cannot. This is not Scrooge McDuck; this is a cruel old man with an uncompromising and hard to refute philosophy, and Paul Sorvino did a masterful job portraying him.
I think Rotti mistakenly believes that Shiloh is a worthy heir because of some innate quality that made his unrequited love, Marni, special. The irony being that if Shiloh is fit to lead, it's because of the care and discipline Nathan raised her with. Rotti's kids are spoiled train wrecks because Rotti neglected them as a father, not because they were inferior stock. This ties into the movie's titular theme of society putting too much emphasis on this fascist notion of genetic determinism instead of investigating how people are a product of their environment. Nurture vs. Nature and all that.

Graduates (2)🎓
Billie Jang
Fine Arts Major / Alvin Ailey Scholarship / Foxbury / Ward Hall
Billie Jang is out here living her best life, you hear me? She got into the student corps at B Lab, has a yoga studio next-door to her dorm, and Kwame in her rearview mirror. Sure, she misses her parents, Baako and Anaya , but nothing brings them more pleasure than watching their daughter follow her dreams.
Kenya Tharp
Veterinary Medicine / Work/Study Program
Kenya has two things on her mind: vet, camp and her horse Shiloh. She’s looking forward to the veterinary program, but it will be a little strange being away from all of her high school friends and her cousin Shalom. Thank goodness for technology. Besides, she’s looking forward to spending time with PawPaw and Judge B.
She’ll miss her mother, Ava and her mom’s boyfriend Al, but she thinks it’ll be good for those two to have a little time to themselves for a change. She won’t be surprised if she comes home to a sibling, she can tell you that much.
Curtis Fernsby
Computer Science / Young Gamers Program
Even though he’s staying home, Curtis plans to take full advantage of what the campus has to offer; it’s only a bike ride away, after all. There are times he regrets not getting his own dorm, considering that his girlfriend Michiko will be at the Chopra House in Britechester, but they have plans after graduation.
On the plus side, he gets a little more time with his parents, Wallace and Miracle. And - now that his brother Cosmo is a little older, they can really have some fun.
Michiko Yamashita
Music Arts Major / Maestro Scholarship / Chopra House
Being raised by parents Yuna & Kengo, who are both rock musicians, it was a bit of a surprise when Michiko was drawn to classical music. She rocks out every now and then (in the shower), but appreciates the delicacy and strength of the classical genre.
She hopes for a long career with the orchestra, then maybe composing musical scores in her golden years.
She’s got plans for her and Curtis too - more on that later 👌🏾

Don't get me wrong, Repo has a lot going for it, aesthetically. The juxtaposition of the Wallace house gothic mansion at the edge of a cyberpunk city shows how isolated Shiloh feels from the modern world. The sprinkling of Italian culture and regular festivals, operas, and circuses, reflects how desperate Rotti is to distract the citizens from the reality of their situation. And you know what little detail I absolutely love? No animals! We see one radioactive bug at the opening of the movie, and that's it. In the words of our narrator "Industrialization has crippled the globe; nature failed as technology spread". No dogs, no chickens, no cows…. but we still somehow have pizza in this dystopian future. Plenty of corpses though! Which adds this delightful horrifying implication hanging over the entire film, that on top of everything else going on, we're probably dealing with a "Soylent Green" type situation.

Repo! The Genetic Opera Nathan Wallace x reader headcanons
Nathan Wallace
Nathan would definitely be a sucker for the common pet names like: Sweetheart, honey, darling, babe.
If you would call him by his full name he would absolutely think it's a turn on but would also be scared thinking he got you mad.
If he ever got you mad he'd wait a few minutes then sit you down and try to talk to you about how you're feeling and what he could do better.
His love languages are definitely words of affirmation and acts of service.
He likes his things in their certain places if not, his day would still function but he'd be bothered by it.
He has a thing for hair and how he just likes to play with it and even learned how to braid just to mess with your hair.
He would get protective of you at some moments when it came to going the downtown alleys and would get a little annoyed of you pushing him away.
After becoming the feared Repoman, he knew you would disapprove of his actions and how he keeps Shiloh locked inside the house but he doesn't want the chance to lose her like he had lost you.
