Didn’t Know Pt. 3
So... another part... this time, how would Beni take care of Suna- alone~ I also forgot that the reader told Suna that Beni was her father in pt.1- oop- I will also be adding a small bonus part with just you and Beni and how your relationship will end.
I will also say, when it’s referred to Benimura it’s your pov. But when it’s Waka, it’s just in Asakusa without you. Okay? Okay.
Also I think this is the last part for the little Didn’t Know series, but if you want to see something, then request it~
pt.1 pt. 2 Read those before reading this
both @grumguchi and @answer-the-sirens asked to be tagged if I made a part 3 so here~
I hope you enjoy! and if you want to be tagged in my writings, let me know~
[Shinmon Benimura]
—————-
After taking Suna to Asakusa, she’s been begging to go back. Every. Day.
You tried to explain to her that you couldn’t, but she wouldn’t take no as an answer. And you were at your wits end about how to deal with her.
You were currently on the phone with Obi, who knew the situation.
“She’s napping right now, but when she’s up she won’t stop asking and demanding to go back.”
“Well, why don’t you?” Sighing you switch to a new sitting position on your couch, pinching the bridge of your nose.
“I don’t have any days off this week, Obi, so I can’t take her.”
“Why not have Captain Shinmon watch her?” It was an idea that had crossed your mind while dealing with Suna’s sudden urge to go to Asakusa, but with the way Benimura dealt with kids wasn’t your favorite thing. Even if the child in question was also his.
“I know you think it might be pointless, but why not try it? If things go bad then you know to never do it again.” Obi continued, and he was right. You never know what will happen unless you try it. But there was a problem.
They never answered their phones!
*
Early in the morning, you took Suna and headed to Asakusa before work. The venders that were setting up and the elders out at the time looked at you with distrust and disgust as you passed. But it was a look you first got when you first arrived in Asakusa all those years ago, they didn’t bother you anymore.
You made your way to the fire force station after getting stopped by multiple people asking you why you were there.
“Waka! Konro!” You yelled out as your toddler stood next to you, rubbing her red eyes of any tiredness that was in them only to yawn after.
The station was quiet except for the occasional loud snores of the people living there.
“Come on, Suna, let’s go see Papa.” Suna only nodded, not fully awake enough to walk on her own for very long without stumbling. Picking her up, you slip your shoes off and walk into the station, remembering the place like the back of your hand, you make your way to Konro’s room.
On the way home from your last Asakusa visit, you simply explained that the man with mix matched eyes and the face of a scary dog- Suna’s words- was her father. She, of coursed, asked why he wasn’t living with them and you only told her because of your work. It wasn’t fully a lie, but she’s wouldn’t understand anything if you told her the real reason- and she didn’t need to know anyway.
Knocking on Konro’s door, you waited before the door slide open and Konro appeared.
“Y/N? What are you doing, why are you here with Suna?”
“I did try to call, I know you guys don’t rely on technology- but the phone is there for a reason.” You rambled while forcing your way into Konro’s room, who wasn’t really surprised considering you did that almost all the time when you still lived with them. “Anyway, I came to do two things.” You said turned to him with Suna on your hip, who was asleep.
“And what are those two things?”
“1 is to help you fix your bandages. I was only there a little bit after your accident, but I never got to help and I felt guilty because of it.” You gave him a sweet, yet sad, smile, remembering what happened and how Konro risked everything for Benimura. You had found out you were pregnant a few weeks later and left.
“What’s the second thing?” Konro said, stepping closer to you and looking at you with apologetic eyes.
“To dump my kid on you guys for the day.” It sounded meaner than it should, but you weren’t wrong.
“Are you sure about that?” Konro asked, not questioning your word choice- knowing very well that you and Benimura had a similar vocabulary and way of speaking.
You nodded, “I tried calling you guys about it, and after talking to Obi this was the best way- I also have work in 2 hours, so enough time to drop her off, help with your bandages and then get to work.” Konro sighed and nodded, fixing his futon and telling you to put Suna down before leaving to get the things needed to rebandage him.
*
After helping Konro, you were now on your way to work as Konro was watching over your daughter as she slept. Making sure everything was okay before going to make breakfast and wake the 3 demons he lived with it. As he watched her, he couldn’t help but see the similarities that Suna had with Waka. She had the same circle eye that Waka had, but in both eyes as well as the same color. And her hair was the same jet black hair color, and from Konro’s point of view- she looked the same that Waka did when he was her age.
After a few more minutes, Konro felt well enough to leave Suna alone for a bit to start wake the Waka, Hina, and Hika so Suna wouldn’t be totally alone. So going to Hina and Hika’s room first, he tells the two to go wake up Waka.
Once the two are awake and ready, they sprint to Waka’s room with a life time of energy as Konro went to start breakfast. He had asked you what she could eat, despite having raised Hina and Hika- he wanted to make sure Suna wasn’t allergic to anything. You said anything was fine, and left it at that with a bag for her and the number to you work place.
A roar was heard followed by two thuds. Konro knew exactly what had happened- Hina and Hika ran into Waka’s room and were yelling at him to wake up as they ran around him. Feed up by Hina and Hika, he sat up and grabbed them by their collars and threw then against the wall. And Konro wouldn’t be so worried.
If there wasn’t a toddler sleeping in the room across from them.
Sighing, Konro turned off the stove and walked to where the commotion was coming from.
“Waka, get up. Hina, Hika, go sit at the table.” The two whined before Konro shoed them from the room and closed the door behind them. With his arms in his kimono, Konro lends against the wall. Waka only covered his head with the comforter, wanting to go back to sleep- but knowing he can’t.
“Suna’s in the other room.” The comforter visibly flinch at Konro’s words, the older man waiting for Waka to come out of his cocoon. “She in the other room sleeping. Y/N, dropped her off about an hour ago.”
“I’m going to check on her, so go make sure Hina and Hika don’t get into trouble.” Konro said after a few seconds of silence, going to exit the room, only for Waka to stand- the comforter sliding off his body.
“I’ll check on her.”
“Just see if she’s still sleeping, Y/N brought her over early, if she isn’t then bring her to the kitchen.” Konro left the room, letting Waka check on his child and him going to check on Hina and Hika knowing that they were probably doing something they weren’t supposed to.
Benimura slowly walked towards Konro’s room where Suna was sleeping, making sure not to wake her if she was sleeping. Sliding the door open, Benimura sees Suna sleeping peacefully on Konor’s futon, the large comforter swallowing up the toddler.
All he had to do was check to see if she was sleeping, but looking at her face, he couldn’t move.
Normally when he sees a child, he thinks of how annoying and loud it is and how he would rather face another demon infernal. But when he looks at Suna, he sees a new world. Similar to what he first saw, and still sees, when he looked at you.
“What are you thinking? I can visibly see the wheels turning in your head.” Konro said while watching the simply sweet interaction.
“I always thought that she left because she stopped loving me, it never occurred to me that she thought I didn’t want a family with her.” The god of destruction or the ultimate fire solider, never really cared for what others thought of him- except Konro and you.
“I don’t think she ever stopped, but she knew you better than you did yourself. I think she new that you weren’t ready at the time, no matter how much you deny it. You only started to take your role of Asakusa’s leader seriously.” Konro placed a hand on Waka’s shoulder, “come on, breakfast is ready, Suna can eat later.”
*
When Suna awoke, Waka had been called out because another infernal appeared, leaving Konro with her. And when the first thing she asked was, is there food. Now Konro was watching Suna eat, only to stare at the toddler in shock and awe.
“Dis is good!” The toddler shouted as she continued to shove noodles into her mouth with a spork. Konro didn’t know what to do or say. While the he was contemplating on what to say, Suna had finished her food and was climbing out of the chair walking toward Konro.
“Can you hand me the bowl, please?” Suna asked after tugging on his pant leg, Konro nodded, grabbing the bowl and handing it to Suna. She thanked him and walked over to the kitchen with Konro watching her from afar. After a bit of Suna looking around, she looked back at the two with furrowed brows and pouting lips.
“I can’t put this on there.” Suna said, trying to put the bowl and utensil on the counter.
“Here, I’ll help.” Konro grabbed the bowl from Suna and placed it in the sink, only for a loud boom to be hear from outside. Suna flinched and looked around before hugging Konro’s leg, the man bent down and puller Suna closer to his leg with one of his hands.
“It’s okay, Suna.”
“Where’s Papa?” Was her only question. Not, what’s happening. Not, what’s that sound. But, where’s dad.
“He’s outside, he’ll be back in a few minutes.” Konro felt Suna’s grip on his pants tighten as a small ‘okay’ left her mouth.
When the infernal was put to rest and Waka had returned, he felt a wave of panic wash over him when he couldn’t find Suna and Konro in the station or around it. He knew that Konro wouldn’t just leave- he hated the Empire just as much as he did, but his daughter didn’t know anything.
Even though his face never chanced, his mind was racing a million miles a minute. What if she wanted her mom. What if she wanted to leave Asakusa. What if-
“Waka?” Turning around he sees Konro with Suna by his side. Sighing, Waka sped toward them and collapsed to his knees when he was in front of Suna. His head hung low and eye closed. Suna looked up at Konro before looking at Waka, stepping forward a bit she reached a hand out.
“Papa?” She placed her small hand on the side of his head, “Papa, okay?” She asked. Waka nodded and covered her small hand with his as he raised his head to look at her.
“I’m okay.” Suna smiled at his response before she took out a bun of Daifuku, taking a bit before offering him some. Waka only looked at Konro, only for the man to shrug.
“She has a sweet tooth like Y/N did.” Waka chuckled a bit before accepting the Daifuku and took a bite, causing the toddler to giggle.
“So, where did you guys go?” Waka asked standing up, picking up Suna in the process as she continued to munch on the Daifuku.
“After she finished eating, we heard the noise of you destroying the buildings, so when we heard the fireworks go off we went out and Baba spotted us and gave us some Daifuku.”
“That Baba...” Waka mumbled, looking away from Suna, who only looked between Waka and Konro with wide eyes.
*
As night started to fall, and the twins were doing Suna’s hair- and horribly in Waka’s opinion- Konro was making dinner with some other fire soliders. Now having even more people due to the infernal that happened earlier in the day.
The rumor of Waka having a child spread like wildfire, and the confirmation of it from the stations guest spread even faster. But only a few knew who the mother was, while most didn’t.
“What’s your mothers name?” A random lady asked while the twins went to grab something from their room, leaving the girl alone and still munching on Daifuku. Suna only looked at the woman with curious eyes, wondering who this was.
“Why?”
“Because I’m curious, who locked the handsome, sexy-”
“That’s enough, you hag!” Hina and Hika said while rushing over to the woman, flying kicking her away from Suna. The woman was very obviously offended that she was called a hag, she wanted answers even more.
“I was just asking this child who her mother was, it’s not everyday a woman can lock Shinmon down.”
“Lock me down?” The woman jumped at the sound of Waka’s voice, not expecting him to be there.
“That- that’s not what I meant.” she stuttered nervously as he faced him. Suna only watched as Waka tried to get a straight answer out of the woman, but wasn’t getting anywhere. Somehow, Suna could tell that Waka was getting frustrated with the woman, so she decided to help him.
And by that, she set the woman’s kimono of fire, only for one of the passing fire soldiers to put it out with their power. She asked if she was okay, only for her to direct her anger at Suna- only for her to do it again.
“What is wrong with that child?! Setting someone on fire!” The woman said, finally having enough and walking off, Suna only giggled as Hina and Hika complimented her.
“Suna, you can’t do that.”
“But you were uncomfortable.” She blatantly said stopping her munching to look at Waka. Hina and Hika raised a brow at Suna, wondering if she was right or not. Waka was surprised that Suna could tell, she was young and normally nobody could see any changes in his face.
“Suna, how could you tell?” Hina asked, only for Hika to repeat, only adding ‘yeah’ at the beginning of it.
“Papa color went more red.” Suna simply said like it was the easiest thing to understand.
“So you could tell I was uncomfortable because my body heat went up?” Waka asked not believing it at all. Suna only nodded, taking her last bite of the Daifuku before clapping her hand together and smiling.
“’M hungry.” Was all the toddler said, getting up and walking over to the dinning room. Leaving the twins and Waka to wonder- what was up with that child.
*
Once dinner was over, and most of the guest were asleep, including Suna, is when you came to pick her up.
“Hello? Is anyone awake?”
“Y/N, here to get Suna?” Konro asked, him coming out of the kitchen wiping his hands with a towel.
You playfully rolled your eyes, “no, I’m here for Baba’s Daifuku.” You both laughed and Konro welcomed you in, leading you to the back porch.
“Suna has a sweet tooth like you, she almost ruined her dinner with how much of Baba’s Daifuku she ate.” You only laughed as you stepped out on the porch.
“There was an infernal, and when Waka couldn’t find us his eyes looked so scared.” Konro said as the 2 of you sat down looking at the sky.
“The only time I saw him like that was when Captain Hibachi died and you left.” You let out a deep breath and leaned back. Not saying anything, only looking at the sky.
“Can you get Beni?” You asked Konro, your tone softer than when you first arrived at the station a few minutes ago. Konro only nodded and carefully got up, and after a few minutes Waka was out on the porch sitting next to you as Konro was most likely inside watching Suna.
“You know our kid almost set someone on fire,” was the first thing Benimura said. You burst out laughing, not wanting to believe it, but you could see it happening.
“So what caused it?”
“Suna knew I was uncomfortable when I woman was asking about who “locked me down”.” Even more laughter came from you after hearing those words from his mouth. You weren’t surprised by the explanation, for her age, Suna was good at reading people and her pyrotechnics didn’t help at all.
“I heard you got scared after you couldn’t find Suna and Konro. Not seeing your child is hard, I understand-”
“It wasn’t just about Suna going missing.” You looked away from the sky to look at Benimura, his face looked the same, but you could tell that it wasn’t just his normally stoic face.
“I was scared that if something happened, that you would disappear again without a trace.” Swallowing the lump in your throat, you moved a bit closer to him.
“Honestly, I didn’t want to leave.” You started, not knowing what to say after, but Benimura didn’t speak and waited for you to continue of finish whatever you were saying.
“But you didn’t want to accept the reality that was in front of you, especially not after what happened to Konro. And adding a child on top of that, I couldn’t do that- not to you or Suna.”
“But if I’d had known-”
“Nothing would’ve changed.” You interrupted, “you love Asakusa, you love the people and hate the Empire. But you only recently started taking the role seriously, right? The only thing would be that I would’ve stayed and had a child.”
“we would’ve gotten married- we still can.” it was simple, sweet, and something you would’ve loved to accept. But...
“Beni... I do still love you, but-”
“I know, but think about it seriously, please. I’m not just thinking about being with you again- I would love that as well- but it would be better for Suna. Having both parents around and I just think Asakusa is better than the Empire.” You laughed, knowing very well that you agreed that the Empire sucked.
“I will, but I don’t think Suna will like the offering of a city block when an infernal appears.”
-------------
Bonus;
When you first moved from Asakusa back to the empire, you didn’t have anything. But now that you were moving back, and with a child, it was a pain- you were lucky to have some soldiers helping you.
but we all know Benimura probably forced then to help while he was away.
“You guys don’t have to help, if Waka threatened you then I’ll deal with him.” A few nervously laughed, while some others shock their head and said that they were happy you were back.
“Say, were is Suna?”
“Watching Waka basically torture Shinra and Arthur with the same bullshit that Konro did to him when he was their age.”
“Should she be watching that?” One of the asked with furrowed brows, you only shrugged and rolled your eyes.
“It was either let Waka watch her, or have a wondering toddler around while we moved these boxes. I know which one I prefer.” You said while picking up another box out of company 8′s matchbox, thankful that Obi and Hinawa let you use the vehicle- it was already going to Asakusa anyway.
Once you were inside you made your way to your new room and put down the box you were carrying. Wiping your brow, you huff, not expecting that you’d have to move so much, but you were almost done. You suddenly felt the feelings of arms around your waist, and you would think it was Suna, but she’s not tall enough to reach that height without a step stool.
“Waka, aren’t you supposed to make sure Shinra and Arthur don’t die?” You ask, grabbing his hands and intertwining your fingers with his. He replied with something alongs the lines of ‘would rather be with you’, ‘Konro’s watching them’, or ‘they’re fine, they won’t die, yet.’
You’re guess was the last one.
“What about Suna, where is she-”
“Mama!” Suna ran into the room, tackling your legs in a hug and if it wasn’t for Benimura, there was a chance you would’ve fallen over for the force Suna was running out.
“Hi, baby, was it fun to watch Shira and Arthur?” Suna looked up at up with big eyes and nodded, you sighed.
“She’s definitely your daughter Shinmon Benimura.”
“But you wouldn’t have it any other way.” It was mumbled but you heard his words loud and clear. And he was right.
“I really wouldn’t.”

I've been down in the dumps recently. It kinda added up that I coincidentally read a lot of consecutive angst (cheating and break up) stories. (all of those stories are really good btw, I really feel the hurt hahahuhu)
Any fluff story suggestions?? I badly need it T w T

And the answer is: there is no right answer!
Whether or not a character is considered underrated changes from fandom to fandom, and from person to person. There could be a consensus amongst fans that a certain character doesn’t get enough love, or maybe there are characters that just dominate popularity and leave most other characters in their shadow. So really, it comes down to personal feelings.
If you’re wondering whether or not your character counts as underrated, here are some questions to ask yourself:
Is this character the protagonist or main antagonist?
How much screen time does the character have?
How many works are there in their tag on ao3/fanfiction/wattpad?
How often does their character tag on tumblr update with new fan created content (actual content not just random posts)?
How easy is it to find fanart of this character on twitter/tumblr?
Is the character a female character in a shonen?
How big is the fandom/how active is the fandom?
Does this character only appear in fan works with another character?
Do I personally feel like this character deserves more attention from the fandom?
Below the cut, you will find a list of fandoms and characters who DON’T count as underrated for this blog: Please note this list is subject to change, if you would like a fandom added you can send an ask or a DM. If you see a character on here that you feel qualifies as underrated, you can make an argument for them here. This is not an exhaustive list. Characters with three asterisks (***) after their name means that fanart for this character is not accepted, but writing is.

Didn’t Know Pt. 2
I was thinking of doing a part 2 anyway, but then someone (aka @rubyninja1 and now @answer-the-sirens) asked for it.
I would also love to see how the twins and Konro would react to Suna~ So lets see how they would.
Part One,  Part Three
These have the same warnings as the first one, with a bit more cussing.
[Shinmon Benimura]
—————-
It was a rare day off and Suna was somehow more hyper, and more trouble, then she normally was. It was only 12pm and you were dead tired, sitting on your couch with a toddler laughing and screeching at the top of her lungs.
“Suna, baby, please be quiet.” You said as she passed the living room and darted around. Suna only stopped for a moment, her big red eyes only looking at you for a moment before she started laughing and wobbling over to you, trying to climb on the couch to get next to you.
Smiling you grabbed the toddler and hugged her, slightly swinging her around while sitting on the couch.
“Suna, why don’t we go somewhere.” At your question, Suna’s head popped up and you could see the twinkle in her eyes.
You knew exactly where you were going to take her.
*
After a somewhat long train ride, and long because of a hyper toddler, you were on the outskirts of Asakusa. You had pulled out one of the Kimono’s you had kept and put it on, while making sure Suna hadn’t done anything her own that you had made when she was 2.
“You ready?” Suna nodded as she held on to one of your fingers as she walked next to you as you entered the bustling town. Most looked at you with looks of confusion and distrust, only a few looked at you with a somewhat familiar look before continuing on to whatever they were doing before hand.
Along the way you somehow ran into the town’s Granny.
“Oh my, Y/N-chan is that you? I haven’t seen you in 2 or 3 years.” she said before her eyes landed on the toddler that was somewhat hiding behind your legs.
“They’re Beni-chans, aren’t they?” She sweetly smiled before extending a hand out to the toddler, you only looked away before bending down beside your daughter and nudging her slightly.
“Oi, Baba, what are you doing?” You knew that voice, everyone in town did, Granny tucked her hand back into her Kimono sleeve and turned to face the stoic man. You were still beside Suna, somewhat blocked from Benimura’s view.
“Oh! Beni-chan! Out for a walk again?” Granny chimed, her neutral smile still on her face as she looks up at the man.
“What were you doing, Baba?”
“I was talking to Y/N-chan,” she simply said, turning around to see you on the ground with a toddler beside you. But not just any toddler, the same one from the last time he saw you.
“Y/N?” At the sound of your name, you turned your head at the sound of your name to see Benimura towering over her. His face still the same as it always was, but this frightened Suna, as she began to cling to her mother more and hide her face in her neck.
“Suna?”
“Scary...” it was quiet and muffled, but you could hear it load and clear. Pulling her body closer to you, you picked her up and stood up.
“Waka, you’re scaring her.” You said in a gentle tone as you rubbed your toddlers back, making sure she didn’t start crying in your arms. Benimura’s eyes slightly widened at your statement before returning to normal.
“Why didn’t you say you were coming?” Was all he asked, motioning for you to follow him before turning around and started walking.
“Like anyone besides Konro answers the phone at the station. And even then that’s rare.” You said rolling your eyes, remembering the days were you would hear the phone ring and never answer it because you either didn’t want to or you were too busy. A slight smile formed on Benimura’s face before it disappeared.
“You do have a good point,” he mumbled, itching his face before tucking his arms back into his Kimono.
“I also wanted it to be a surprise.” You smiled at him, before moving Suna’s head to look at you, “look, he’s not scary.” Suna slowly looked at Benimura, he red eyes glossed over with old tears. The toddler only hid her head in your neck again, you saw the corners of his mouth frown a bit more at the toddlers actions while you pursed your lips together. Then an idea popped into your head.
“Waka, lets go to the station.”
*
Once at the station, you couldn’t help but think of the memories that you created there. As you and Benimura were headed inside, Konro came outside.
“Oh, Y/N, I didn’t know you were coming to Asakusa.”
“Surprise, and I brought Suna.” You said while adjusting Suna, who was still on you hip after a 5 minute walk.
“It’s nice to see you again, Suna.” Konro said, getting a bit closer to where you a Suna stood. Suna never moved her head, instead extending one of her small arms and waving in the direction that she heard him from.
“Let’s go inside,” you said while looking at Suna. The two men could tell that you loved Suna more than anything in this world, and they knew that she left because she only wanted the best for her. Going inside, she was greeted by the other fire solider’s that were passing by. Some were surprised to see you again, and with a child no less, while some were meeting you for the first time.
“Waka, let’s go outside.”
“Are you sure? I’m pretty sure the kid doesn’t like me. And I think Hina and Hika are out there.” He says, a hint of worry and sorrow in his voice at the thought of his own child being terrified of him. You smiled at him Benimura, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“Don’t worry, I have an idea, but you have to listen to me.” And without saying anything else, you went to the training ground with Suna to see two other boys laying on the ground.
“Perfect, Waka, come here!” You yelled gaining the attention of the two fallen boys, who quick stood back up and went on high alert. You placed Suna down and looked at the boys with a raised brow.
“Waka, what did you do to them?”
“Obi asked me to train them,” he said jumping down on to the dirt ground, making the two flinch, “it’s their fault that they suck.”
“That’s Suna, are you her mom?” One boy with red eyes and brown hair asked.
“Yes, I’m Y/N, a friend of Obi’s- I want to thank you for taking care of Suna that day, she was really tired when we got home.” You gentle smiled, “I also have a favor to ask of you, both.”
*
“Are you sure we should do this? It doesn’t seem safe!” Shinra, who’s name you learned a few minutes ago, said while up in the sky.
“Entertaining the princess is a part of the Knight King’s job.” Arthur smirked while looking up at Shinra. Almost saying how he was winning the battle the two had going between them.
“I’m sure, if something happens, both Waka and I will stop it immediately.” You said while putting Suna down in the center of the training ground. Stepping back, Suna looks around and recognizes Arthur and Shinra from when Obi babysat her. Once you nodded, Arthur starts to swing his Excalibur around, creating lines of cyan and as he circles around the toddler. Once he had done this once, Shinra swoop in started to break dance. His fire flying and swirling around him as Suna watched in astonishment, her small hands together.
Up next was Benimura, he was nervous- the self proclaimed “wild child” was actually nervous. He was nervous that he was going to hurt his newfound child, that she would dislike him and be scared of him even more. He was nervous that you were going to hate him and leave again if something happened- he didn’t want that.
As Shinra’s break dancing came to an end, it was Benimura’s turn as Shinra flew over Suna’s head and out of sight. Benimura took a few deep breaths before his eyes mix matched eyes started to glow and flames started to appear in his hands. Standing behind Suna, you nod to Benimura who nods back, taking one of the old martial arts positions that he uses. A sea a flames start to flow towards Suna, but before they could reach her, you control the flames to go over Suna’s head before snuffing it out completely.
“How did you like that, Suna?” You asked, walking over to her.
“It was Amazing!” She yelled, jumping up and hugging your leg, her own red eyes sparkling with excitement.
“I’m glad you liked it, Suna,” you picked the toddler up and walked to Benimura.
“I told you she’d be fine, Waka, and she loved it.” You smiled while tickling the toddler, “Suna, do you know who this is?” You asked, pointing to Benimura. Suna shook her head, tilting it as she looked at the man.
“This is your dad.”
*
It was now night and after explaining and answering the toddlers random questions and eating dinner, you allowed Konro to watch the toddler with Hina and Hika also in the room, so you could talk to Benimura alone.
The crisp Asakusa air was a nice change to what you typically breath, and the night sky was a lot clearer.
“Are you going to come back?” Was the first thing said between the two of you.
“I want to,” you sighed, “but I have a job, and Suna does have friends her age at the daycare. I can’t just move back- no matter how much I want to.” You looked at him with a gentle smile, one that held the same gentleness that you used with Suna.
“I could protect you and Suna, you wouldn’t have to work and-”
“I know, and this would be a great place for Suna to grow up, and with both of her parents.”
“So move back-”
“Waka.” Konro said, while stepping outside with a sleeping toddler on his chest. “It’s not an easier thing to move away from your family, and even if they know they could come back- they’ve established a life in the empire.” Konro said, sitting down next to you. Even if he didn’t like the empire, you were still part of his family and knew that you had thought a lot about your situation.
“I know, but I don’t want my family to fall prey to the imperial dogs.” He grumbled, you and Konro both laughed at Benimura pouting. Placing your hand on his shoulders, you sigh.
“The night you took me in, it was similar to tonight- sitting on the porch and talking. Only now theres a toddler sleeping on Konro’s chest.”

Didn’t Know
So, I was gonna continue writing a different fic, but then this one popped into my mind- so I’m writing this one
Female pronouns, some angst, children, a little bit of cussing, and I think that’s it. Reader is the same age at Benimura
I honestly don’t know what to call this, it’s just rambling so~
Update: pt 2 now available
[Shinmon Benimura]
—————-
When you found yourself in need of a sudden babysitter on a Saturday, you knew there was only one person who Might be able to help. You had just moved to Tokyo and didn’t know many people, but the only person you knew in Tokyo was a busy man- and it had be years since you had a proper conversation with him. But he was your only hope right now.
“Please, Akitaru, I was suddenly called in and I don’t have anyone to watch her!” You beg, standing in front of Company 8′s cathedral with a toddler in your arms. Obi only looked at the young woman before smiling
“I know Hinawa won’t want her in the office, saying that it would be “unprofessional”, but you know I can’t bring her to my office, please.” Obi sighed, running a hand over his face like he had to think it over. When in reality, he had already made the decision the moment you asked.
“I’ll take care of Suna for the day,” Obi called your name before repeating his statement, stopping the mother in her tracks. Extending his large arms out toward the small child.
“Thank you so much Akitaru, and if you have to leave then put her some where safe for the time you’re gone or call someone from a different company to watch her.” Handing the baby bag and Suna over to Obi with out any complaints, you looked at your watch and feel panic run through you.
“I have you go now or I’ll be late, Suna be good for Uncle Obi and his team!” You yelled before sprinting away. Obi smiled at your retreating figure before looking at the red crossed girl snuggling into his neck, he knew that you wouldn’t have asked him to watch your daughter unless you really needed him to. Chuckling to himself, he patted the girls head a few times before smiling down at her.
“Come on Suna, let’s go see the others.”
~
“Captain, why do you have a toddler?” Shinra asked when he saw Obi enter their little office, Obi smiled and lightly tickled her side.
“This is Suna, her mom is an old fire fighter friend of mine. She go called into work suddenly and asked me to watch her.” Swinging Suna around a bit, causing her to laugh. His smile grew once she started to laugh, Shinra’s question already caused the others to look at their captain, but the sound of a child’s laughter caught their attention again.
“Captain, don’t you have a meeting today with Captain Hibana, Lieutenant Konro, and Lieutenant Karim?” Obi’s face dropped a bit when Hinawa reminded him of the meeting. Sighing he nodded.
“I do, which means one of you will have to watch Suna for me while the meeting is going on.” Maki had volunteered to watch her, but was quickly shut down when Hinawa offered. Telling her that “she can barely take care of herself, how is she suppose to care for a toddler”- more or less.
*
Knocking on the door, Hinawa quietly snuck his way into the meeting Obi was having with Karim, Hibana, Konro, and Benimura. Who was forced to come by Konro.
“What do you need Hinawa?” Hinawa was about to reply, but was cut off when a bang was heard against the door, followed by small giggles. Hinawa took off his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose- only guessing who was “watching” Suna now.
“I take my eyes off her for 1 minute...” The door squeaked open and in wondered a black hair, red eyed toddler was a wide smile on her face.
“I made Shina and Awfer go boom!” She said while making explosion gestures with he small chubby hands. Konro, Karim, and Obi smiled at the cute gesture while Benimura, Hibana, and Hinawa remained stoic. Suna’s smiled never fell from her face, even when Hinawa was face to face with her.
“Did they do anything to you?” Suna shook her head, that made Benimura slightly smile.
“They were starting to yell at each ader, and mommy says that you shouldn’t yell at others.” Suna nodded a little after her sentence. Hinawa sighed and ruffled her hair before picking her up.
“I was going to ask you if Suna is allergic to anything so I could make her lunch.”
“She gave me a bag before she left Suna here, there’s probably some food in there.” Hinawa nodded turning to leave the room, having Suna wave over Hinawa’s shoulder as they left. Konro lightly chuckled at the toddler, but he couldn’t help but think that the child looked like someone he knew.
“Sorry about that, a friend of mine needed me to watch her last minute. Any way, where were we?”
*
“She has third generation abilities? How did she even find that out?!” Maki asked, her eyes wide, sure you were a second generation like Maki and Hinawa. But the fact that your child already knew they had powers surprised her. Obi had just walked into the lounge with Konro and Benimura, speaking about something random.
Obi chuckled in response while picking Suna up in her arms, “She left her alone for a few seconds and came back to the table on fire. Luckily her abilities are similar to yours, Maki, so she was able to put them out before they spread.” Obi lightly tickled her stomach, causing the toddler to laugh once more.
“Suna, do you think you could find Shinra?”
“Captain Obi, I don’t think letting a toddler to wander the station alone-”
“Just watch, Hinawa, we’ll be following her” he said, trying to reassure the Lieutenant, “do you think you could find him, Suna?” The toddler puffed out her cheeks and nodded, balling her tiny hands into fist before she was set down and free to run around.
Once she felt that she wasn’t going to be picked up again, she moved away from the little group of adults and softly huffed. Her eyes suddenly shined red before she started running, or trotting, towards the stairs. The adults- even Benimura- were following the toddler, Hinawa was about to pick up the child but Obi stopped him. Watching her climb the stairs up to the roof.
“Here!” She yelled once she was at the top of the stairs, pointing to the roof door. The others looked between them, brows raised and slowly following her and pushing the door open to reveal Shinra, Iris, and Tamaki eating lunch.
The others looked between them, curious as to how Suna could do that at such a young age.
“Suna,” Maki asked, crouching down to Suna’s eye level, “can you explain to us how you did that?” Suna looked back at them, nodding as she started to explain how she found Shinra. To her, it made sense, but to the adults- they were lost.
“Heat sensor,” You said while coming up behind them. “Hi baby,” You picked up Suna and tickled her. You explained how she can sense heat, and if it’s at a certain degree, can set whatever that is on fire. Or she could use it to find someone, but while your doing that- Benimura and Konro only stared at you.
“I thought you had work?” Obi asked as you put Suna back on the ground, her running to where Shinra, Iris, and Tamaki were.
“I took an early lunch to check up on my daughter. Just because she can talk and walk doesn’t mean a mother doesn’t worry.” You said before looking at your watch, “I already ate, and I have about 10 minutes left so I have to leave now.” You quickly bid goodbye before going back downstairs.
“Who was that?” Konro asked once you were out of ear shot. Obi called out to Suna and she quickly came running back to the adults.
“That was Y/N L/N, I’ve known her for a while but she only moved back to Tokyo a few years ago.” Suna snuggled into Obi’s neck, mumbling a small ‘tired’. “Hinawa knows a bit, so any other questions you have, he can most likely answer.” He said while going down to his room to put Suna down for a nap.
“Do you know how old Suna is?” Konro asked, the only one between the three men that was actually willing to talk.
“I think she’s 2, almost 3 maybe.” It was a mistake to leave those 3 alone...
*
It was now after dark, and everyone was lucky that no internals had showed up. Surprisingly Konro and Benimura were still there watching the toddler wonder around, playing hero and villain with Shinra and Princess and Knight with Arthur.
By the time you got off work, they were preparing dinner- well Hinawa was due to the overstayed guests. And due to this, you were offered to say as well.
“Mommy! Look! Look!” Suna yelled as you entered where their little office was, only for you to see Suna’s eyes go red and a piece of paper set on fire. You quickly put it out and ran over to the paper to see the damages.
“Suna, I told you that you can’t just set things on fire. It’s great that you have amazing control over your flames but,” Sighing you bent down to eye level with your daughter, “don’t do it again, okay?” Suna pouted before nodding and running off to find either Shinra, Tamaki, or Iris. You laughed as she ran off, yelling for one of the others- it seemed like just yesterday she was starting to crawl.
“It’s nice to see you again, Y/N.” You turned to see Konro, his hands folded into his kimono sleeves. You lightly smiled and looked up at the 6′2ft man.
“This is the last place I’d expect to see you, and you.” You said while looking around Konro to see Benimura behind him, his hands folded in his kimono like Konro. Benimura scoffed and looked off to the side, something he did when he didn’t want to do something or listen.
“Whoever Suna’s father is, is a very lucky man.” Konro said trying to start a conversation. “He even watched her while working.” That sentence made you laugh.
“Sorry, Konro.” You smiled at them, “I asked Akitaru, or Obi, to watch her because I go called into work suddenly.”
“What about her father?” You bit the inside of your cheek, looking away from the two. Now Benimura and Konro were looking at you.
“Not in the picture.”
“Why not?” You were shocked to hear Benimura’s voice, “What kinda of bastard doesn’t take care of his own child?”
“One that doesn’t know she even exist.” It was your turn to look away, fiddling with your thumbs before looking at them.
“Y/N, how old is Suna?” Konro asked.
“She’ll be 3 in December.”
“Do you know who the father is? Last time we saw you was when you lived in Asakusa-”
“You’re so good at fighting and destorying shit, but anything else basically goes over your head.” You laughed, crossing your arms, leaning back on one of the many desks in the office. Looking between them you knew that Konro had already figured it out and was waiting for 2 possibly things to happen.
1. he figures it out himself.
or
2. you tell him.
“Waka, when I lived in Asakusa you were the only one I was with.” He only looked at you with same emotionless expression he always wore, and for you and Konro- you knew he wasn’t getting it.
“And after I moved, I was only focused on finding a job so I could support Suna. You’re the “bastard” father that doesn’t know about his child.” Telling his was a mistake, and you knew that was the instant his eyes started to glow red. Only to have Konro push him to a clearing where he won’t destroy anything Company 8 needed.
Which just so happened to be the roof. Konro didn’t want to be in the way of Benimura’s “melt down” so he left you alone with him. Thankfully there were only a small amount of flames, ones that you could easily snuff out without much concentration.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” The air, while warm from his previous fire use, was somehow crisp. You both were sitting on the edge of the cathedral, the moon shining down on the both of you.
“Don’t know, I was an outsider taken in after my parents and siblings went infernal. I was already outcasted for being someone from the empire, and even though everyone loved you they didn’t love me. So, I guess the reason was that I was scared.”
“You didn’t think I would protect you-”
“I knew you would, but I didn’t want you to throw everything away for an outsider and their kid-”
“Our kid.”
“Mommy!” You both turned to see Suna running toward you with tired eyes and a bright smile.
“Hi, my little firecracker,” You said while picking Suna up and swaddling her. “Is something wrong?”
“Tired.” She said before snuggling into your neck, her little arms finding there way around your neck. Smiling you rubbed her back and stood up, looking down at Benimura.
“I have to go, but let’s continue this talk later.” You started to walk off, but stopped before you left the roof you turned back to him. “On my next day off, I’ll see if I can bring her to Asakusa.”
