You remember that one time Ami tricked a guy that didn't speak English that the lyrics to 'Danger Zone' by Kenny Loggins was NASA documents? That's not a coincidence. Ami likes Top Gun and writes Top Gun fic. Her ships of choice are IceMav, Sunchip, and (eventually when Top Gun Maverick came out) Mavclone and Floydsinshaw.

'Not just about chips:' Frito-Lay, Loblaw expose tension between suppliers, retailers
One of Canada's biggest food manufacturers has halted shipments to the country's largest grocer in an extreme example of how inflation is impacting the food industry and driving a wedge between some retailers and suppliers.
At issue is a dispute over pricing between Frito-Lay Canada and Loblaw Companies Ltd. as the maker of brands like Cheetos, Doritos, Lays, Ruffles and Sunchips tries to recoup higher costs.
The situation has left the chip and snack food aisle of many Loblaw stores less full than usual or stocked with the retailer's house brands, President's Choice and No Name.
Frito-Lay spokeswoman Sheri Morgan confirmed there is a "temporary disruption" with one customer.
"Our business has faced unprecedented pressures from rising costs of items including ingredients, packaging and transportation," she said in an email.
"To help offset these pressures on our Canadian operations ... we have made adjustments to our prices that are consistent across the marketplace."
Loblaw spokeswoman Catherine Thomas said the grocer is "laser focused" on minimizing retail price increases.
"When suppliers request higher costs, we do a detailed review to ensure they are appropriate," she said in an email. "This can lead to difficult conversations and, in extreme cases, suppliers don't ship us products."
The rift between Frito-Lay and Loblaw exposes deepening tensions in Canada's food industry that many experts say could worsen as supply chain challenges and inflation continue.
Some argue that grocers are simply trying to keep sticker prices low and stop suppliers from using inflation to justify unreasonable price hikes.
Others suggest grocers are using their market strength to bully suppliers and pad their bottom lines.
"It's challenging that it has devolved into such a confrontational relationship," said Michael Graydon, CEO of Food, Health & Consumer Products of Canada, an industry group which lists Frito-Lays parent company PepsiCo Foods Canada among its members.
"The level of frustration is growing."
The increase in wholesale prices some suppliers are seeking from retailers will help mitigate ongoing inflation but won't completely offset higher costs, he said.
The final price consumers pay in stores is set by grocery retailers -- not food manufacturers, Graydon said.
However, retail industry advocates say food manufacturers are in some cases seeking price hikes that outpace inflation.
Retail Council of Canada spokeswoman Michelle Wasylyshen said the industry group, which represents Loblaw, has been contacted by both big and small grocery retailers about a flood of new price increases in January from vendors.
"This follows an already alarming number of increases in the preceding quarter," she said. "In many cases the increases are unprecedented and far exceed typical food inflation levels."
Statistics Canada said last week that food prices increased 6.5 per cent in January, the biggest year-over-year jump in grocery bills in more than a decade and higher than the overall annual inflation rate of 5.1 per cent.
It's unclear how the loss of sales at Loblaw, which includes conventional chains such as Zehrs, Atlantic Superstore and Provigo and discount stores No Frills and Maxi, could impact Frito-Lay.
The company's products are made in Canada, largely using Canadian potatoes grown by local farmers. Experts say a long-term drop in sales could ultimately hurt local producers.
But experts say brand loyalty will work in the chipmaker's favour.
"Frito-Lay is betting that the loyalty consumers have for their brands gives them leverage to make this move," said Joel Gregoire, associate director of Canada Food and Drink with market research company Mintel.
Yet pulling supply from Loblaw -- which holds the largest share of grocery sales in Canada -- is also risky for the food manufacturer, he said.
"Not filling orders to Canada's largest grocer will no doubt have a substantial impact on Frito-Lay's near-term sales," Gregoire said.
More broadly, he said the dispute appears emblematic of a broader battle for pricing leverage between grocers and manufacturers.
"This tension is not new, but this move by Frito-Lay has high stakes," he said. "This is a battle to maintain margins as costs rise."
Indeed, food expert Sylvain Charlebois said the friction between Frito-Lay and Loblaw is the "tip of the iceberg."
The hostility between retailers and manufacturers could worsen in the coming months, he said.
"This is not just about chips," said Charlebois, Dalhousie University professor of food distribution and policy. "We're going to be seeing this in other food categories like bakery and dairy as well."
This report by The Canadian Press was first published Feb. 22, 2022.

✤ for Shaleb
x. send me a ship && i’ll tell you
who said i love you first ? SHELBY. while breaking up with him was the first time she directly said the words. CALEB has only ever told her using the past tense, he’s only admitted to others his love for her.
who laughs when the other trips ? SHELBY. It’s not often that caleb does get clumsy, but there are times that he gets ahead of himself/runs into things, && you can bet he is instantly rolling his eyes the moment he hears her laugh.
who pays the bills ? BOTH. but shelby is in charge of submitting the payments, she has a system && honestly caleb isn’t the best with dates.
which one makes a bigger deal around the holidays? CALEB. with shelby’s family issues she doesn’t really seem into celebrating holidays, caleb on the other hand loves them. not only does he live for the family drama that happens at all of them, there’s a certain mood at the holidays that is reserved solely for them, he loves sharing that with her.
who’s more clumsy ? CALEB. refer to above.
who checks their daily horoscope? SHELBY,  && it’s something that he relentlessly makes fun of her for, randomly buys her those cheesy astrological mugs from target. tho caleb secretly checks his when she puts the magazine down so.
who sings louder in the car ? SHELBY, && while he constantly tells her to ‘keep it down whitney’, he adores her singing, && the fact that she’s relaxed enough to do so freely.
who leaves the cap off the toothpaste ? CALEB, && he leaves his toothbrush all over the apartment as well, can find it in the shower, by the kitchen sink, on the counter, bc he’s generally running late && needs to multitask.
who is more up to date in pop culture ? CALEB, someones gotta keep up with the nicknames for the team 10 of quantico.
who insists on going to see the newest movies ? CALEB, which he spends the entirety of the movie groping her b u t he promises to find it on the firestick later ( which probably won’t get watched either tbh. )
who cries when the abused animal commercials come on? SHELBY, caleb turns the channel any time he hears ‘arms of the angel’ because who the fuck thought of that marketing.
who’s the lighter sleeper ? CALEB, he still suffers from nightmares from his time with the bureau as well as his recovery from his addiction so when he does sleep it’s usually not sound or for very long. I doubt SHELBY sleeps much deeper than he does tho honestly.
who believes in ghosts ? NEITHER, they can’t afford to believe in ghosts, they are haunted by enough as it is.
who does the grocery shopping ? SHELBY, caleb is literally incapable of following her lists, && thinks combos && sunchips are a substantial meal replacement. so, shelby has given up on sending him to the store on his own. with his family, he never had to do those trivial things, letting him loose with simple freedoms of choosing what foods are in the apartment isn’t always ideal for the long run.
who updates their facebook status more often ? CALEB, #whitehuskies.

Loblaw vs. Frito-Lay: Snacks to return to store shelves after price dispute (msn.com)
Loblaw Companies Ltd. has said that snack food varieties by PepsiCo Inc. will return to store shelves across the country following a dispute that stalled shipments to the Canadian retailer for well over a month.
In an email Sunday to Global News, a Loblaw spokesperson confirmed shipments will resume on Monday.
"All along, this was about providing value to our customers. We’re happy to have a wider assortment in our chip aisle once again, with a mix of new Canadian flavours and classic favourites, at varying prices to suit our customers’ needs," said Catherine Thomas, vice president of communications at Loblaw.
Products will begin shipping on Monday and they fully stock the company expects to before the Easter weekend, she added.
Thomas declined to comment on the details of the negotiations. The dispute concerned pricing between Frito-Lay Canada and Loblaw Companies Ltd. as the maker of brands like Cheetos, Doritos, Lays, Ruffles and Sunchips tried to recoup higher costs.
The situation left the chip and snack food aisle of many Loblaw stores less full than usual, as the retailer relied more on house brands, such as President’s Choice or No Name.
The dispute started in February 2022 and Frito-Lay spokeswoman Sheri Morgan said then that it was a “temporary disruption.”
“Our business has faced unprecedented pressures from rising costs of items including ingredients, packaging and transportation,” she said.
“To help offset these pressures on our Canadian operations … we have made adjustments to our prices that are consistent across the marketplace.”
Loblaw spokeswoman Catherine Thomas had said the grocer was “laser-focused” on minimizing retail price increases.
“When suppliers request higher costs, we do a detailed review to ensure they are appropriate,” she said. “This can lead to tough conversations and, in extreme cases, suppliers don’t ship us products.”
The rift between Frito-Lay and Loblaw exposed deepening tensions in Canada’s food industry that many experts said could worsen as supply chain challenges and inflation continue.
Some argued at the time that grocery retailers were simply trying to keep sticker prices low for consumers and stop suppliers from using inflation to justify unreasonable price hikes.
Others suggested grocers are using their market strength to bully suppliers and pad their bottom lines.
“It’s challenging that it has devolved into such a confrontational relationship,” Michael Graydon, CEO of Food, Health & Consumer Products of Canada, which represents Frito-Lay, said.
“The level of frustration is growing.” The increase in wholesale prices some suppliers are seeking from retailers will help mitigate ongoing inflation but won’t completely offset higher costs, he said.
They set the final price consumers pay in stores by grocery retailers, Graydon said.
“This is a cost increase from the manufacturer to the retailer,” he said. “The manufacturer does not set retail pricing. It is set only by the retailer.”

Black flowy top and maroon cropped dress pants that last person you talked to on the phone said… 'Twas my mom, I said I was walking to the metro and we talked about dinner you’re at the grocery store, what 3 fruits do you buy? Strawberries, apples, & pineapples your lunch consisted of..? A Fuji apple chicken salad and mac & cheese pick 2 from Panera. With a baguette. And water. do you attend church regularly? No any superstitions? Not really what is your favorite superhero movie? I like the avengers. Would you consider Scott pilgrim vs the world a superhero movie? Probably not idk but either way it's a great movie do you listen to cobra starship? I did back in the day a lot. I still have them on my iTunes library since I'm sentimental and don't delete things, and sometimes when I shuffle the whole library I'll listen to a song if I'm into it do you watch gossip girl? I did, but never finished it. I know what happens though what do you get whenever you go school shopping? Not in school anymore but we'd usually do a supplies trip for notebooks and pens and what not, and then a clothes trip for whatever I was feelin do you have a temper? Nah, but I do bet annoyed do you consider yourself responsible? Yeah I'm pretty responsible what is the time? 11:04 pm anything special going on today? I'm going to sleep, that's special. The leg one I think is from a bug bite, but No clue where the arm one came from what about scratches? I kinda scraped up my heel today what are they from? I answered the bruise, the scratch is from walking around in my burlap ish toms that I thought were fine but in actuality were scraping up my heel if you died next week, what would be the cause of death? Idk that's morbid af what do you think about dating websites? Eh. Not for me at this stage in my life what is your favorite thing to get at Starbucks? 7/28/15
Saint John, New Brunswick to Weymouth, Nova Scotia
We woke up in our dark blue room with purple bedding and pink chairs, and slowly got ourselves out of the deep blankets and soft pillows for breakfast. We joined an old couple at the breakfast table downstairs and ate a French toast bake with Apple pork sausages and toast with homemade jam. They're visiting they're grandbabies, and we are far from home. After they left Carl and Jim chatted with us for a bit. Jim looks like he might be in his 70s and Carl is a bit younger. Carl is a massage therapist, retired RN, who worked at a Catholic hospital and massages the aging nuns of the Saint John convent. His voice is sort of high, soft and accented, and comes from somewhere deep in his sinuses. He told us a story about one of the nuns in her 80s saying she had to confess to the priest after her first massage, and Carl asked if he did anything inappropriate or anything that made her uncomfortable, and she said oh no but if a man had touched me like that fifty years ago I wouldn't have joined the convent. HA!
We got a map of Nova Scotia and they suggested a b&b they like over here, and we got our things ready to go. It started raining though, so we left our room and sat downstairs for a while where I worked and Jesse read. Around noon an older couple from Torino, Italy arrived to take over our room and we decided it was time to go.
First stop, Walmart for ratchet straps for the ferry and two new bungee cords, mouthwash, razors. Then we got sandwiches at Tim's and headed to the ferry dock while fog rolled in. We got directed to the front of the line on a bike, and Jesse parked with the rows of half a dozen other bikes. This was day 1 of their new ferry boat and there were kinks to work out. Without a new gangway for walking, all the passengers without a vehicle (including me as a bike passenger) had to take a shuttle bus from the terminal parking lot down the bridge into to the ferry's bottom deck, then stairs up. But even that was delayed over an hour because they couldn't get the doors open on the new boat to let out the stream of cars stuck on board from Digby.
We watched the boat, we watched the ocean, we watched people, and then we found a picnic table and I worked a bit, we watched a helicopter land through the thick fog to drop two people in a grassy field next to the terminal, we watched black smoke pour out of the ship's stacks and wondered what the hell was going on. Finally we got on the boat, and I found myself a table to sit at and later Jesse found me. We played golf and gin and Jesse got a little bag of sunchips, a Keith's beer and a canned Caesar. He's delighted to be back at home. I think he's more happy than he's letting on, after the months in my country where his dollar is worth 80 cents, where things are a little more unfamiliar and a little less friendly. But it's okay, I'm glad to be here too.
This is more new ground for me, and it is more relaxed, and uncrowded. One of the other biker ladies on the ferry told me that the Maritimes are God's favorite place, they're so incredible. She had her greasy blonde hair braided too, and less gear on than me, and I could see her pale soft stomach through a gaping button hole on her shirt, but she was friendly. They camp a lot too. She rides on the back, they meet people, they spend a lot of time on the road. She told me about finding a little beach at dead end roads called Pinks Cove where they camped when they couldn't find anything else. They spent a little extra on a NICE tent that's extra water proof and you can stand inside. Maybe if ours was bigger we wouldn't get hotels so much. I don't know.
I think it would be easier if I was on my own bike and we had more space for luggage and things. A cooler for snacks. Waterproof bags and boxes for our extra items instead of silver or black garbage bags that shred themselves in the wind after too many miles of flapping. For now, though, it all works.
More and more people are shocked at the trip we've done so far, and even though we don't look like real bikers 20+ years older in leather and denim, there's a little air of approval in their bearded smirks. "No kidding!" "Good for you two!"
And that's the thing about bikers, I think. Even though they are tough and hardy people who can stand discomfort and danger, many of them are kind, expressive, extremely experienced in traveling light and traveling well, at meeting people and sparking connections when you've got a motorcycle in common. They've seen the most beautiful parts of the world, and they've done it slowly. They've been out in it. They've lived differently, and I'm learning, maybe better, despite the stereotypes and stigma of reckless riders and hells angels.
The ferry ride was almost three hours, but it was shaky, so I couldn't draw on my turbulent table. Jesse's gravol/Dramamine knocked him out so I sat alone and read, researched, texted Rachel and Bryn. I could see out the windows, but just barely. The fog was thick and it was just flags being battered by the ocean wind. Canada flag, Nova Scotia flag, New Brunswick flag, and thick white fog.
Then, we docked, I rode the shuttle bus back up, and we rode into Digby, Nova Scotia for dinner on the water. Just pub food, but a nice deck as the sun came out. We took pictures of the harbor and walked around a bit before hopping back on the bike for Weymouth and an inn that looked like a grandma's house.
On the way, the evening light was incredible. After so much rain and fog, the day ended in sunlight. We raced through villages, fields, forest, cedar houses with beautiful porches and flowers, to a section of beach with dr seuss trees, long white curving trunks and bursts of leaves as the branches forked upward. We walked out to the water, and then over to a point facing west with tall grasses and purple flowers between us and the view. A little fog on the horizon, the sky like honey, we took pictures and tried to capture the feeling of it all, and then got back on to make it to our inn before 9.
A grandma greeted us at the back door. Our room was open with a key by the sink. The house smelled like tootsie rolls and had needlepoint art and cats everywhere. It was a little odd in the night, like it was a hundred and fifty year old house that got redecorated for the last time in the early 90s and hadn't changed since. The third floor was blocked off but a row of quilts lead up the stairs. Our room was just past that, small, but comfortable. We read in bed and fell asleep fast with the noise of a fan and a quiet house.

Where are the chips? The dispute between Frito-Lay and Loblaw
