Shizuka and Lea are honestly a really interesting inversion to the usual 'clone finds their own identity' narrative.

Cause like. Usually when a story uses that trope it's about the clone living in the original's shadow, a question of 'how can I be myself when I'm already someone else.' Even Crosscode itself does that in two different ways, C'tron learning to be a good person despite his origins, and Luke dealing with the fact that the life he knows is no longer his own.

But for Shizuka and Lea the roles are reversed. For most of the game Lea doesn't even remember that she *was* anyone else, and even when Shizuka tells Lea what she is, Lea's more affected by the revelation that she's never going to be able to leave Crossworlds and the fact that the person who's been guiding her through all of this has been lying to her the whole time. Lea never really has any direct conflict around being an offshoot of Shizuka's existence, entirely content with her own sense of self.

Meanwhile Shizuka spends most of the game absolutely hating Lea and feeling like *she's* the one in *Lea's* shadow. She envies how Lea got to only see Sidwell's good side, not knowing the hell he's putting everyone else through, not being there to see Gautham's downward spiral, not having to witness Satoshi's death.

I almost get the vibe that she sees Lea as 'perfect', a version of herself that never had to suffer through all the trauma she did, gets to be happy while Shizuka feels like she can never be.

It's just a really fun inversion I think. Shizuka's the one who feels trapped by the existence of her counterpart, while Lea thrives in her own identity.

I wonder if most of the CrossCode soundtrack is canon.

Like, is the music that you the player the same things that the characters hear? Do the environments have their own built-in soundtracks playing, like when Lea is running around Autumn's Rise is she hearing the same music you are? If she's going on a killing spree trying to farm items for a new pair of boots does the S-Rank Battle theme kick in when she gets an S Rank? I know not all the songs can be canon, because I highly doubt that that Emilie actually has her own Theme of French theme playing whenever she has a moment, and I don't think Shizuka was in too much of a mood to make she sure she had her own boss theme playing when that fight happened.

I do think Gautham commissioned his own boss themes though. You don't do all that and don't fully commit to the bit.

So it might be on a case by case basis.
