You're welcome! And thank you for such a nice message! <3 I did say, in October I think, if that goes down as the most popular thing I ever do for Shepherds of Haven, I'd be happy with that. Especially since I know my fan fiction has less broad appeal for the fandom as a whole. Admittedly I'm still shocked how well it went over. I really wasn't expecting people to like it so much! It still feels a little surreal, tbh. But I'm very happy that folks got such a kick out of it! (For those curious and don't know what anon is talking about, it's this blorbo AITA. It came about from a combination of my "do it for the bit" sense of humor, a random fit of confidence late at night, and inspiration from this fan art by devourthesnack.)

The Shepherds of Haven Soundtrack (Volume 1) is Now Out!

Over the last several months, I've been working with the brilliant composer, Ivan Duch, to develop an official soundtrack for Shepherds of Haven! Volume 1 of that soundtrack is out today!

This volume contains 16 songs, including theme songs for specific characters like Shery, Riel, Chase, Red, and Trouble; motifs and signature music for the game and numerous locations throughout its alpha build; and so much more! 

Working with Ivan to create this album has been such a blast. I'm pretty new to working with a composer and commissioning custom music based on locations and characters that exist only in text (and my imagination), but Ivan is a bonafide genius and master of his craft. Seriously, if you have any desire to commission an orchestral or instrumental piece based on your own stories or characters, I can safely say you should run, not walk, to work with him! I have nothing but resounding praise for his work and how easy and fun this collaboration has been. :) Work on Volume 2 has already been started as well!

C, G, and L for the fanfic ask game! -em

C: What character do you identify with most?

Of my own? AJ. There's parts of her that are wish fulfillment, but personality-wise, she's the closest to me of all my OCs. Of canon characters I've written? Aloth from Pillars of Eternity or Shery from ShoH

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

The vast majority of the time I write in order. Every once in a while I'll have a scene that I really don't want to forget that I'll scribble down even if I'm not there yet(there's about four of these for down the road in OwaP, and one from near the end of tLBT :3), but I tend to write in order.

L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

Two or three. But it's mostly grammar stuff, spellchecking, maybe rephrase things if they read clunky/doublecheck stuff like timeline. 98% of the time, what I wrote in my notebook and what I publish looks basically the same. xD There have been a few spots in OWaP where I sent the draft to Alex and she gave me good concrit on why XYZ scene or dialogue didn't work and I had to redo more significant portions. (One of the Fade chapters I had to rewrite half of the damn thing,3k words down the drain, BUT the new version was a thousand times better)

I find it terribly amusing of myself that most folks have tons of MCs for Shoh and I have— one. Who I just interchangeably put with different ROs nendjdj

Achillea legit romances: Chase, Blade, Trouble, Shery AND Red. Her story arc changes depending on who she is with and her personality and values definitely develop differently with each person.

With Trouble and Shery, she opens up more and becomes a warmer and less serious person. They definitely bring out her protective and provider side. She wants to take care of them!

With Blade and Red, she stays very much the same stoic and serious person, but she is now at the core a very happy stoic and srs person. They compliment her (even tho Red does contrast her a lot, she remains the “cool” one to his “nerdy” one). And with these two there is more a willingness from Achillea to let them take care of her.

And Chase provides the biggest change because she becomes very much a softer and better version of herself entirely. Warmer AND develops a new, albeit dry, sense of humor. Has the most change and influence on Achillea somehow. I don’t make the rules it’s the chemistry.

Bridge is, for the most part, genuinely as laidback and sweet as she acts. she likes being the friend you can vent to about anything, the person that makes people feel at ease. that's a part of her. what's ALSO a part of her is her feeling like she sort of has to be that person, the one who's gentle and kind and cheerful, because she's been on her own for a long time and she's seen the world chew up Diminished who "step out of line," or act in a way that Norms don't like. equal parts herself, equal parts a defense mechanism (doubly so for my own personal canon, where she's another Shepherd instead of the Brightburner.) it's easy and even preferable to be this person everybody wants her to be, instead of the elf-mage who misses her people and questions her decisions and prefers to follow somebody else's lead.
