BOUNTY HUNTER 3: EIGHT MEN TO KILL (1972)

Made before the original six Lone Wolf and Cub films were produced, this is film series also starred Tomisaburo Wakayama as a ruthless killer.

This time Wakayama-san portrays Shikoro Ichibei, a doctor who leads as double life as the Shogunate's best bounty hunter. What sets this series apart from others, though, is that Ichibei makes use of a secret room full of gadgets that would make James Bond jealous, as well as various assistants (usually female ninjas) in the field.

Unfortunately, this film marked the series end. The good news, however, is that all the entire trilogy - Killer's Mission, The Fort of Death (both 1969), and Eight Men To Kill - was released on Blu-ray by Radiance Films earlier this year.

Wakayama-san would reprise the role in 1975 in the Bounty Hunter television series.. I saw several of the early episodes, and there were a few subtle changes from the films. For one, Shokoro Ichibei was now a teacher who ran a school when he wasn't collecting bounties.

Second, I believe the time period had been changed from the late Tokugawa Shogunate to either the Meiji Restoration or the early Taisho Period (I have to hunt down those DVDs and watch them again).

I clearly remember, though, the lovely Seiko Kaji (Lady Snowblood) guest starring as one of Ichibei's ninja assistants.

Quirk: Prism Wings - The wings on their back are made of glass and can bend, focus, scatter, and reflect light like a prism can. Another ability the wings have is to create rainbow beams of light that can sear and cut.

Their story: Shokoro is the younger sibling of the former hero Kaleidowing and lived with him during their high school years. Their brother was signed to the HPSC and they had a bad feeling about the organization, but said nothing so they wouldn't hurt their brother's feelings. However, that bad feeling became all too real when they came home to find their brother dead. Since then, they've wanted revenge on the HPSC for their involvement in his death.

Fusao Kageryu

Name: Fusao Kageryu

Age: 22

Short Description: Fusao is a tall, lithe man with long black hair that turns brown at the ends and black eyes. Though he shaves, the hairs from his beard always remain. Due to his Quirk, there are patches of skin that have black dragon scales.

Quirk: Shadow Dragon Drone - Fusao has the ability to create small black dragons from his scales. They're the size of his limb and are capable of both flying and breathing fire. But their true power lies in their ability to "steal" a target's shadow, paralyzing the target.

His story: Fusao's father used to work for the HPSC. Though Fusao and his mother didn't agree with it, they still supported his father. That was, until they had assassins sent to their home and were almost killed. Turns out, Fusao's father had been outed as a whistleblower for [redacted] and was killed by the HPSC as a result. But to avoid suspicion, they would also have his family killed in a "villain attack".

Both Fusao and his mother were forced to flee the country until his return for both college and revenge years later.

Mayumi Akubi

Birth Name: Mayumi Akubi

Age: 23

Short Description: Mayumi is a woman of average height with brown skin, dark purple hair, and brown eyes. In the middle of her forehead is a purple gem.

Quirk: Beautiful Nightmare - When the gem on her forehead shines, it can trap the target in a dream too good to be true only for it to slowly but surely become a nightmare. The Quirk can be used on multiple people at a time.

Her story: Mayumi comes from an elite hero family and as such, is the next in line. However, her father and mother have had to move from country to country as her father was being hunted down by the HPSC for his refusal to join them. They had almost caught and killed them but they managed to escape. Because of that, Mayumi sees them as a threat to not just her but to others as well.

In a bento there are four cooking methods: gohan, yukimono, sashimi, and nimono. It is important to note that in bento it is important that hot food is served and cold food is served cold. Shokoro was the man who thought to put kaiseki in a box. The focus in Keiseki style bento is the playing. The plating should be beautiful as there are many different types of cooking and ingredients involved.
