Summary: With you and Daryl being in a good place, kissing coming naturally to you both and cuddling no longer awkward, it was inevitable that your make out sessions would start to heat up into something else. However, in the heat of what should've been a hot moment, Daryl's mind started to wander to it's usual self deprecating depths. Luckily, you were there to help him through it.

A/n: Another young!Daryl fic in a span of not even two days? Who would've thought it was possible? It's mainly because I've been enjoying writing for young!Daryl recently, and I'd be happy to get any requests for this au. Also, I've never personally experienced a panic attack myself and this is all based off of what Google told me, so if any of it is inaccurate, please let me know so I can fix it. Other than that, I hope you enjoy!

“Shit, girl. Yer gon' be the death of me.”

You giggled against his lips, allowing him to push you down onto the bed. He followed soon after, moving to hover over you before reattaching his lips to yours hungrily. He used one of his hands to hold his weight up, the other one wandering over your exposed stomach. Your shirt was already disposed of and long forgotten, leaving you clad in only your shorts and bra.

To your surprise, when your hands wandered under Daryl's shirt, he only hesitated for a quick moment before withdrawing from the kiss and tugging his shirt over his head. Old and new scars were on display for you, leaving Daryl completely vulnerable under your gaze.

You smiled at him and pulled him down for another kiss, a silent way of thanking him for trusting you. It wasn't the first time that you had seen his scars—you had helped him with his wounds too many times too count, leaving you familiar with all of his scars—but you always tried to make sure that he knew you didn't judge him. You loved every part of him, scars and all.

You gasped against his lips when he let his hand trail down, his fingers lightly tracing over your clothed cunt. His tongue entered your mouth and he groaned at the taste. He pulled back momentarily to look at you, his pupils blown with lust.

“Fuck, yer so perfect,” he whispered, leaning down to leave a trail of kisses from your jaw to your neck.

You moaned when he kissed a particularly sensitive spot, leaning your head back to grant him better access. Your mind was starting to get cloudy, the only thought on your mind being how good Daryl was making you feel. Admittedly, you were also nervous, since this would be your first time doing something like this, but you trusted Daryl. He wouldn't ever hurt you.

In an unexpected move, you managed to roll you both over. Daryl's eyes slightly widened in wonder, before smiling and leaning up for another kiss. His hands settled on your waist, allowing you to take the reigns for the moment.

Daryl was thoroughly enjoying himself. However, when he felt you subconsciously grind your hips against his, his mind zoomed in and focused on one thing—you would regret this. You would regret giving your first time to someone like him. He would be terrible at this and you'd finally kick him to the curb after figuring it out. He didn't deserve to have you in this way, in your most vulnerable state.

You would regret him.

Daryl's breathing started becoming erratic. Although you could've easily misinterpreted it as him simply getting more turned on, something told you it wasn't that. You pulled back from the kiss and looked at him, noticing the slightly pained expression on his face. His breathing was quick and choked off, and he seemed to be in some sort of daze. You instantly knew something was wrong.

“Daryl, hey, look at me,” you whispered, cupping his cheek and gently urging him to look at you. When his blue eyes met yours, you could very clearly see the panic in them.

Instantly, all previous lustful thoughts left your mind, concern for your boyfriend taking root in their place. You knew exactly what was happening; Daryl was busy having a panic attack. You helped him into a sitting position, still straddling his lap. You grabbed his hand and placed it on your chest right above your heart, hoping to divert his attention away from whatever negative thoughts were plaguing his mind.

Still looking deeply into his eyes, you gently caressed his cheek with the hand that wasn't holding his over your heart. “Try to breathe with me, okay?” you whispered, starting to breathe in a controlled rhythm.

Daryl nodded and began to copy your breathing, his sounding more choked up than yours. He tightened his grip on your waist with his hand that was still resting there, desperately trying to ground himself back to reality. It took a while, with you soothingly rubbing your thumb over his cheekbone and breathing with him in a controlled rhythm, but soon he was calming down.

Daryl felt ashamed of himself. There the two of you were, half naked and sharing what should've been a blissful, enjoyable experience, and he let himself get into his own head. He let his own insecurities get in the way. He should've just sucked it up, but instead he just had to ruin the moment.

“M'sorry,” he muttered, looking down to avoid what he thought would've been a disappointed stare.

You frowned slightly and gently grabbed his face with both hands, urging him to look at you. “Hey, it's okay,” you assured him. When he shook his head in denial, your grip became more firm. “It is okay. Don't blame yourself for something that was out of your control, alright? Do you wanna talk about it?”

Daryl hesitated for a moment, but nodded slowly. “I jus' got into my own head. I was nervous and convinced myself ya would regret givin' yer virginity to me. Started feelin' overwhelmed. M'sorry.”

You pressed a kiss against his forehead, giving him a reassuring smile. “Don't be sorry. I get it. I was nervous too, you know? But I wouldn't have regretted anything. I trust you. There's no one I'd rather do this with. But it's okay if that doesn't happen right now. I'm ready whenever you are.”

Daryl gave you a small smile before leaning forward to rest his forehead against your shoulder. “M'still sorry. I was lookin' forward to this.”

“Me too, but it can wait. Let's get you taken care of, okay? And I don't wanna hear any buts, mister.”

Daryl nodded. “Alrigh',” he agreed, but made no effort to lift you off his lap. Instead, he pulled you closer to him, hugging you tightly. “Thank you fer understandin'.”

“Of course.”

There was a lot of things going through Daryl's mind at that moment. Despite your reassuring words, he still felt awful for what happened, his mind continuing to shame him. However, with your hands now gently threading through his hair to bring him some comfort, not giving a damn that you were still half naked and straddling him, he forced his mind to shut up.

And in that moment, it was confirmed in his mind—Daryl Dixon knew that he was never letting you go.

You thought nothing of it when you stared into his eyes. It shouldn’t have been any different than any other time. But this time it was. 

He’s your best friend, so when he called you up for just a normal hangout day, you weren’t expecting the outcome of it. 

Your phone buzzed in your pocket, you let out a small sigh knowing damn well he was losing his patients. 

You answered the call, “Yeonjun I am quite literally walking into the building right now.”

 “Hurry up dude!” he exhales, “I am STARVING!” 

You rolled your eyes, “I’m walking as fast as my legs can take me up these stairs you know.” 

You turned the corner to see Yeonjun standing in the doorway to his dorm, phone up to his ear, staring back at you, and pouting. 

Ending the call, you scoff, “You literally could have met me downstairs but instead decided to stand in the doorway?” 

“I literally just walked out.” he shrugs. 

You raise a brow at him, “I don’t believe you.” 

His pout gets worse, “Just hurry inside I want my ramen.” 

Yeonjun turns on his heels, walking inside. You had no choice but to follow behind him. 

You walk in? closing the door behind you and kicking your sneakers off. 

You noticed how quiet the dorm was. “Where's everyone else?” 

“Soobin is with Namjoon Hyung, Beomgyu and Taehyun are at HYBE, and Kai is spending the day with his family.” Yeonjun took the bag of ramen from your hands, licking his lips as he pulled the packages from the bag and got everything prepared in the kitchen. 

“Everyone's out having a good time and you chose to be stuck with me?” you joked. 

“Hey,” he points a finger at you, “we grew up together and my best friend you are just as important as everyone else.” 

You chuckle, taking a seat at the table, “You really haven’t changed a bit since getting famous huh?” 

“Nope! Just got even better than before.” 

You rolled your eyes, “whatever you say.” 

You both spent the rest of that time watching Yeonjun cook the ramen. Listening to him sing to himself. 

You always loved his voice and knew from the beginning he would be a superstar someday. It was his destiny. 

He placed the bowl of ramen in front of you, “time to eat!” 

While you both ate, the topics of what has been going on in each other's lives came up. Nothing was ever new on your part, besides things in college or family issues. But Yeonjun always treated your stories as if they are on the same par as his own life. 

“Oh! I bought that new Mario Kart game for my Switch.” Yeonjun mentioned.

You twirled the noodles with your chopsticks, “about time you did. I was getting bored of kicking your ass at super smash bros.” 

He dropped his utensils on the table giving you a side eye, “You literally button smash Y/N.” 

You smile up at him, shaking your head, “No you just suck.” 

Yeonjun scoffs, turning his head away from you, licking his bottom lip, “Okay, we will have a bet. Whoever wins three races in Mario Kart, the loser has to take the other shopping.” 

You rolled your eyes, “it’s always shopping with you.” 

“It’s called staying up with the latest trends and fashion baby, learn it.” 

Yeonjun practically skipped to his room, and you slowly followed behind him. 

He sets up the gaming system and you sit on the edge of his bed. 

Yeonjun sits beside you, handing you one of the joycons, “ready to lose?” he winked. 

You gave him a side eye, “In your dreams.” 

Before you knew it, the three races were over, and you indeed did lose.” 

“YES!!! Shopping spree!!” Yeonjun cheers, flinging himself back onto his bed.

You laid back beside him, covering your face with your hands, “I don’t remember ever being this terrible at Mario Kart, you totally cheated Yeonjun!” 

“I absolutely did not, in fact, cheat, you’re just a sore loser!” 

You looked over at him, his hand was shaped into an L on his forehead. You reached over, slapping his hand away from his head, “Shut up!” 

Yeonjun shoves your shoulder, “Sore loser sore loser!” 

You push him back, the both of you laughing. 

Yeonjun had the biggest smile, and it was one of your favorite things about him. 

He slowly turns and looks at you. You stare back into his eyes like you always do. Eye contact was important in your friendship. But something was different this time. 

Your heart rate was slowly increasing. What is this feeling? And why are you feeling it? You’ve looked at his smug face a million times, why is this one different?

Before you could answer your own question, you stopped thinking completely. 

His hand reached across to the back of your neck, pulling you toward him. 

He pressed his lips against yours. They were so warm and inviting, you couldn’t help but kiss him back. 

You couldn’t get enough of him. You needed more. As if you lost all your air and he became the oxygen. 

Yeonjun runs his hand down your back, hooking his finger in the belt loop of your jeans, pulling you closer to him. 

Your bodies touched. Your hands flew into his hair. His hands searched your body. First running to the back up your head, back down to your ass slowly giving it a squeeze and down to your thigh, raising it up and over his hip. 

He slowly licks your bottom lip, waiting for his offer to be accepted. You open your mouth just wide enough for his tongue to come through. 

Your tongues danced together in the perfect rhythm.

Yeonjun lets out a soft moan, squeezing your thigh tightly and it sends chills down your spine. 

He pulls you on top of him, both hands resting on your hips. Your hands found the sides of his neck, your thumb slowly tracing his jawline feeling the moment of it with every kiss. 

The front door opens then follows the sound of four voices. 

You both quickly jumped up and away from each other, you standing across the room, while Yeonjun sat up in his bed running his hands through his hair. 

The laughter of Soobin, Taehyun, Beomgyu, and Kai filled the other room, completely changing the air in this room. 

You looked over at Yeonjun and he slowly looked up at you. 

The realization of what just happened between the two of you clicked at once. 

A boundary was crossed and now your friendship has changed. 

Yeonjun seemed to realize it too. He slowly starts to stand up, “Y/N, I-I’m sorry. I don’t know what happened or came over me.” 

You couldn’t find the right words to speak, all you could do was look back at your best friend. You didn’t know what to think or how to feel. Your emotions were tied into a knot. 

“I need to go.” was the only thing you could say, and you made it your mission to get out of the dorm as fast as possible. 

“Y/N, please don’t go.” Yeonjun reached for you, but you were already out of the room. 

The boys noticed you walking out, you gave them hellos and goodbyes, quickly stepping foot out of the dorms. 

“What’s wrong with her? Did something happen?” Taehyun asked. 

Soobin noticed it too. Something seemed off. 

Soobin found Yeonjun hunched over sitting on his bed, his leg was shaking and he had a tight grip of his hair on the back of his head. 

“Hyung.” Soobin said. 

Hearing his voice made Yeonjun jump, he quickly looked up at his leader, “Hey Soobin.” 

Soobin looks out at the front door, then back at Yeonjun, “Did you fight?” 

Yeonjun raised a brow, trying to play it off that he didn’t know what Soobin could be talking about, “what?” 

“Y/N,” he sighed, “it’s not like her to just walk out like that. She seemed upset. What happened?” 

Yeonjun looked away from his leader, tucking his bottom lip between his teeth. Debating if talking about what just happened with his lifelong best friend was the right move. 

“Yeonjun.” 

And that was all it took. Yeonjun quickly stood up, facing his leader and second best friend, “I kissed her!”

Soobin raises both his brows, studying his hyung’s face carefully. 

“I kissed her okay, that’s what happened.” Yeonjun rolled his eyes, falling back down onto his bed. “I don’t know what came over me. We were just hanging out like normal, everything was normal, nothing was out of place but just…the moment I looked at her…” 

Soobin nodded, taking a seat beside him.

“I remember not thinking about anything. Just looked at her and into her eyes and the next I know, we were kissing. I escalated it further and who knows where it would have gone if you guys didn’t come home. And by the time I realized what we just did, she was running out the door.” 

“Well,” Soobin started, “you guys are best friends, grew up together, families are friends, everything. You crossed a line that has never been spoken about or even thought out. Y/N probably does not know how to respond to this.” 

Yeonjun shook his head, “I figured that but..”

“Hey, no none of that, don’t beat yourself up over it,” Soobin wrapped his arm around him, “She seemed deep in thought when she left, just give her time, okay?” 

Yeonjun nodded. 

“Another question?”

“Alright?” 

“Do you have feelings for her?” 

Yeonjun shakes his head, “Soobin, I have no idea. I don’t know. I never saw her as anything more than my best friend.”

All Soobin could do was nod and try his best to cheer up his friend, “Don’t beat yourself up. Give her some time.”

Two days have passed and all Yeonjun wanted to do was pick up his phone and call you. To apologize a million times over and make it right. But he was afraid you’d reject his calls and text or write him off completely. 

He was terrified to lose you. 

Two days turned into a week. Which is the longest either of you has gone without some sort of contact. 

Yeonjun slashed water in his face, looking up at himself in the mirror, watching the water trail down his face, stopping at the corner of his lip. 

He reached up, tracing his fingers over his lips. The memory of you came back to his mind. The feeling of your lips connected to his. The way your body moved against his. The sound of your breathing. How perfectly synced you were. How life is so wrong without you standing beside him. 

Yeonjun pulled his phone from his pocket, dialing your number. 

You sat at your desk, turning the pages of your textbook, doing some last-minute studying to keep your mind busy. 

It’s been a week since you’ve talked to him. And you regretted every day of that week walking out the way you did. It shouldn’t have ended up like this. 

He’s your best friend, who you’ve shared your entire world with. How could you have let things end this way?

As if on cue, your phone rings. Yeonjun’s name lights up. 

You slowly pick up your phone, counting down from three before answering the call. 

You didn’t have a chance to speak because he was already speaking, “Y/N,” he softly said your name, “meet me at HYBE.” 

Yeonjun was already waiting outside for you when you arrived. His head hung down, staring off into the distance, he did not know you have even arrived yet. 

You softly looked at him. He wore his favorite white tank top that perfectly showed off his muscular arms. A faded pair of blue jeans ripped at the knees and a black pair of Converse. The streetlamp he stood under shined on him like a spotlight. The summer breeze blew his hair against his cheeks.  

You knew you couldn’t stare at him much longer before he noticed you.

“I’m here,” Yeonjun looked up at you. His face might not have shown how happy he was to see you, but his eyes said it all, “why did you call me out here?”

He walked over to you, sliding his hands into his jean pockets, looking off into the distance, and licking his bottom lip, “Take a walk with me.”

You followed behind him, still confused as to why you had to meet him at his place of work. 

“Practice today?” you asked.

Yeonjun nodded, “Dance practice, Soobin had a meeting and then we all discussed future plans for the group. 

You nodded, “Could have just called me and talked if you were busy.”

“I’m not busy, plus I wanted to see you.”

You stopped walking. Your heart felt like it was about to burst. All you wanted was to see him but thought after everything that happened, you two would not be able to be friends anymore. Everything was ruined. 

Yeonjun turned around, concern filling his face, “Are you okay?”

You nodded, “Yeah, just haven’t seen you in a while.”

He nodded too, “Yeah it has been a minute.”

Yeonjun could feel how uncomfortable you were. Things were different between the two of you. He knows that, but still tried to lighten the mood anyways. “Plus, you still owe me a shopping trip.”

You scoff, shaking your head, and continued walking ahead of him, “You called me out of my apartment at nine o’clock at night just to drag me on a walk about your company building to remind me about your shopping addiction? You’re really something Choi Yeonjun.”

Yeonjun sighs, as he watched you walk away from him, but this time he’s not going to let you go. 

“Want to know the actual reason I called you out here?”

You stopped walking, afraid to turn around and look at him. 

“Look, Y/N, I am truly sorry for what happened…but I do not regret it.”

You slowly turned and faced him, “Why?”

Yeonjun softly smiles, “Because I am in love with you idiot.”

Your heart completely stops at hearing those words, and you lost your breath as he slowly walks closer to you. 

“I think I have always loved you,” he continues, “but I was blinded by our friendship and deep down was scared if I made the wrong move I would lose you and I cannot lose you, Y/N.”

You shook your head, “But I ruined everything! I walked away and did not even try to-”

“No we are not doing this,” he interrupted, “you did nothing wrong, it was all me. I am the one that decided to cross that line. I am the one who ruined our friendship.”

“Yeonjun,” you sighed, “I had just as much part of it as you did.”

You stare into his eyes, trying to read every thought that was going through that beautiful head of his. 

“I don’t want to be just friends,” he takes one step closer, “I am in love with you. I always have been and I was a fool to not see it sooner than when I did. I can’t get you out of my head,” he takes another step closer, “I can’t stop thinking about how you looked that day, the way you looked back at me while we were in my bed. The way your lips felt on mine, the way you tasted.”

Yeonjun was nearly inches away from your face, slowly backing you up against the wall of his company building. 

He places his hands on the sides of your head against the wall, “The way your body felt against mine and how perfect you felt in my hands,” he rests his forehead against yours, “I can’t sleep in my bed without remembering you on top of me and hearing the sounds of your sexy breathing ringing in my brain from the way I was touching you.”

Your heart raced against your chest. His lips were inches away from yours, and his body’s heat radiated to yours. You felt as if you have stopped breathing, and the only way to get that oxygen was to breathe him in. 

“I going to give you two options,” he exhaled, “either tell me to move and I will respect your space and leave you alon-”

“Touch me again.” you quietly whispered. 

“What?” he asked lifting his forehead from yours. 

“I said touch me again,” you took a deep breath, “Kiss me, grab me, run your hands over every inch of me. Breathe me completely in. Use me as your drug, as your oxygen. Make love to me right here if you’d want, do everything you want to me except let me walk away from you.”

And that was all it took. His lips connected to yours. He pinned you completely against the wall, his hands squeezing your hips. His body completely pressed against yours. 

“I think that was the sexiest thing I have ever heard you say.” Yeonjun chuckled against your lips, “I am so turned on right now, if we weren’t right outside my workplace, I would so fuck you right here.”

You ran your hands through his hair, softening the kiss, “I’m in love with you too, Yeonjun. I also always have known too deep down. I always felt some sort of jealousness when you liked some other girl, and always felt relieved when it wouldn’t work out, and just told myself it was because you deserved better than what they were.”

“But I did deserve better than them, I deserved you.” Yeonjun tucks a strand of your hair behind your ear, “It has always been you, Y/N. It has always been us, just took us twenty-plus years to realize it.” he chuckled. 

All you could do was smile at him. Not only did you get your best friend back, but you gained the love of your life. 

“So how about I ditch the rest of my practice and we quickly head back to the dorms, because wooo if we don’t I might actually take you right here and now.”

You smiled even brighter, “last one to the dorms owes the other a shopping spree.” and you took off running, the sounds of Yeonjun’s laughter following behind you.

“We haven’t changed, and I am so in love with it.”

Budding Frenemies: The Tale of Faybelle Thorn and The Thorned Rose

Chapter 2: Narrow the suspects

Thorned Rose had a busy, busy day.

She rescued princess Holly O’Hair from Faybelle Thorn, stopped a burglary done by a Cheshire Cat, returned Bunny Blanc and Hopper Croakington II to their human forms after they were struck by an animalfication ray, and released an entire class of students from Rumplestilksin’s basement. That guy has really got to stop holding students captive and making them spin straw into gold for him!

But now that things had slowed down, it was time for a much-needed relaxing hangout with her BFFA, Princess Apple White.

Apple's destiny, like Briar's, was to fall into a deep sleep only to be awoken by true love's kiss.

But, unlike Briar, Apple didn't have to wait for a hundred years to be woken up. She could technically be woken up the same day; her story didn't have any ground rules when it came to that. Briar sighed. She was not looking forward to sleeping for a hundred years. She wasn't looking forward to losing her friends and maybe her family too… but enough of the sad stuff, she had had a productive day and she wasn't going to let her annoying destiny ruin it.

Faybelle also had a busy, busy day. She kidnapped a princess, got her butt kicked by the nemesis of her dreams, ran from the cops, and started trying to track down said nemesis.

She took the scrap of cape fabric to her BFFA, Duchess Swan. Duchess quickly determined the exact materials that it was made up of, and muttered something about seeing a bolt of that fabric and a spool of the lace at a particular craft store.

So of course, Faybelle offered to take Duchess there on a shopping spree. Of course, she planned on hacking into a store computer while there to get a list of everyone who has bought that fabric and lace recently, but Duchess didn’t have to know that.

Duchess eagerly led Faybelle to the fabric shop, gushing about a dress she’s commissioning from Briar Beauty. “- and I just have to provide her a sample of the fabric I want! She suggested this store since it’s the one she shops from for all of her projects, and all of the fabrics they carry are simply spell-tastic! They’ll all look so wonderful on me, I just don’t know which one to pick!”

Faybelle nods along, her thoughts elsewhere. Duchess doesn’t even notice that Faybelle isn’t listening to her.

They get to the store, and Duchess immediately goes to the fabrics. Faybelle follows just long enough to get some information from the tags on the particular fabric and lace used in the cape. After she’s got the info she needs, she trails off from Duchess and sneaks into the back room.

She finds a computer used for inventory, the password written on a sticky note stuck to the monitor. She navigates her way through the system, looking up the data for the fabric and the lace. She writes down everyone who appears as recently buying the fabric on another sticky note, and then checks the names that also show up on the list for the lace.

By the time she goes to find Duchess, she’s got a list of 10 possible suspects.

Holly O’Hair, who couldn’t have possibly been the heroine since she was the one being saved.

Apple White, who couldn’t have been her since she’s too pale and her hair is too light.

Ashlynn Ella, who again couldn’t have been the heroine due to her looks.

Lizzie Hearts, who wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a color that wasn’t black or red herself - but quite possibly could have made the costume for someone else.

And lastly, Briar Beauty. A thrill-seeking daredevil whose entire wardrobe is that shade of hot pink.

One of those suspects is much more likely than the others.

Pyrrha: Today has been absolutely wonderful, I’m so glad you came with me.

Nora: Yeah! Today’s been super fun, thanks for introducing us to those pervert books.

Blake: They are not— *sighs* You’re welcome, but please don’t call them that anymore. *turns to Pyrrha* By the way, there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you.

Pyrrha: What is it, Blake?

Blake: What makes you so sure Jaune and Cardin won’t realize they have the hots for each other?

Pyrrha: From what I’ve observed and what Cardin’s teammates have told me, Jaune and Cardin are equally dense when it comes to feeling of the romantic or sexual nature. I believe without outside intervention, they may never realize their feelings for one another.

Blake: Come on, I know guys can be dense, but you’ve got to be over exaggerating.

Pyrrha: I assure you, I’m not.

Nora: Look, I know Jaune can play up the “idiot” part of lovable idiot, but he can’t be that bad.

Pyrrha: *sighs* Fine, let me tell you the extent of Jaune’s thick-headedness. The first time I told Jaune I loved him, he immediately assumed I meant platonically and said how happy he was we were friends.

Blake: …oh.

Pyrrha: I invited him to take a bath with me, and he said that it was a great way to cut down on water for the environment.

Nora: He didn’t try anything?

Pyrrha: Unfortunately, Jaune was a perfect gentleman through the whole bath. Later, I stripped naked right in front of him, and said that if I was hot he would gladly turn down the thermostat.

Blake: How the fuck can one man be so dense?

Pyrrha: When Jaune asked me if I was interested in dating, I described him as the man of my dream and he said “Wow, I really hope you find a guy like that some day.”

Nora: That had to hurt.

Pyrrha: Indeed. And when I asked him out on a date, he thought I meant I wanted to hangout as friends and invited you and Ren along with us.

Nora: Is that why we went to see that weird movie?

Pyrrha: Yes.

Blake: I am so sorry you had to go through all of that. I’m honestly surprised you didn’t just call it quits.

Pyrrha: Jaune’s pure heart is what attracted me to him and what almost kept us apart. Truthfully, there were moments when I thought about giving up, but I persevered, and now Jaune and I are the happiest couple in Vale.

Blake: How did you finally get through to Jaune?

Pyrrha: Simple, I had to make sure I left no room for him to misinterpret what I was saying.

*flashback*

Jaune: *quietly reading in JNPR’s dorm room when Pyrrha walks in* Hey, Pyrrha, how was your d— *Pyrrha grabs Jaune’s face*

Pyrrha: *looking Jaune straight in the eye* Jaune Arc, I need you to look me in the eye and me in the eye and listen very closely. Are you listening?

Jaune: *frightened and confused* Y-yes.

Pyrrha: Okay. I am going to tell you something, something very important. I am going to completely literal, there will be no hidden meanings, no subtext, it is not a joke or trick or lie. I need you to understand that I am about to bear my heart to you and you need take everything I say at face value. Do you understand?

Jaune: I understand.

Pyrrha: Tell me what I just said so I know you understand.

Jaune: *confused himbo noises* Y-you’re going to tell me something important and there won’t be any bullshit.

Pyrrha: Right, no bullshit. *takes a deep breath* Jaune Arc, I, Pyrrha Nikos, am attracted to you romantically and sexually. I desire to be your girlfriend and to have sex with you. I think you are kind, handsome, and wonderful person and at this moment nothing would make me happier than to enter a romantic relationship with you.

Jaune: Um, I—

Pyrrha: Remember what I said at the beginning of this conversation. Remember what I said!

Jaune: *eyes slowly widen in realization* Oh. My. GOD!!! I’m an idiot! How could I be so dense!?

Pyrrha: *smiles and let’s Jaune go* So, you finally get.

Jaune: Yes. Absolutely. 100%. How did I miss this, you literally stripped naked right in front of me!

Pyrrha: Well, now I suppose the only question that remains is if my love is requited. Do you feel the same?

Jaune: Yes! Yes I do! To be honest, I’ve had a crush on you for while, but since I messed things up so badly with Weiss, I was terrified of saying anything. I never thought a woman as incredible as you would fall for a guy… like me.

Pyrrha: Three days, actually. It was a long weekend and we had a lot of loving to catch up on.

I was somewhat inspired by a TikTok POV called Two Lost Souls by hlovesmarvelpov which is where I got the idea to write what life was like for Bucky in Romania. I never knew where life would lead me. I knew I wasn’t going to find something to do to make me rich. All I really wanted was to find a good job that paid me enough to get by. Living in Romania was an absolute dream. It was so beautiful, and it was always so interesting. Everyday felt like a new adventure. At the market you never knew who was gonna show up, or what was going to happen.

One day while at the market, just shopping for some fresh produce to restock my apartment with for the week, I saw an interesting looking man. I had never seen him before, and he definitely didn’t look like he was from around here. Something about him drew me in, but I was too shy to approach him to say hello.

I was definitely at that age where I was ready to look for mister right, and finally settle down. I seemed to have met every guy in this city, and none of them were to my liking. They all seemed very bold, manly, and had egos bigger than some of the buildings. That wasn’t really something I was looking for, and to be fair it was probably just part of their personalities, no judgement there.

There was something about this stranger though that was different. Yes, he was very handsome and buff, but he looked very shy and reserved. Not something I was used to, and that probably contributed to why I was so attracted.

He seemingly glanced my way, and I turned to look away. I knew I must have been staring and I felt awkward about that. So, I quickly finished up my shopping and ran home. I really hoped though that I didn’t make him think that I found him creepy. Damn my shyness, and anxiety.

It had been a few days since I saw the stranger at the market. I was walking down the street to my office when I happened to pass him by. He seemed to pause his gaze for a quick second before looking away. I walked past him at a decent pace, hoping he would make the first move to say hi, but alas, he did not.

The week went by, and it came time for me to head back to the market to restock my produce for the week. I ended my shopping spree and turned to head home when I ran right into someone's very muscular chest. I almost fell back when the person grabbed my arm, catching me.

“Are you okay, miss?” The person asked, speaking Romanian.

“I am fine thank you.” I looked at the person, and it was the stranger I saw last week.

“You’re welcome. Sorry I knocked you over.”

“Please, don’t apologize. I was the one who bumped into you.”

“At least allow me to help you carry your groceries home.”

I nodded and handed him a bag. He gestured for me to start walking, and I led him to my apartment complex. “My place is a bit messy, I wasn’t expecting anyone to come over to see it.” I said, going to unlock the door.

“Don’t apologize, I won’t go in if you feel uncomfortable.”

“I feel bad having you follow me all this way, and not even offer you a snack or something.”

“You’re too sweet. I’m okay, doll. I’ll stay out here. It also wasn’t too out of the way for me.”

“Are you sure?” I reached my hand out to take the bag he was holding.

“I’m sure,” he handed me the bag and turned to walk away, “and if you need me, I live just across the hall.” He walked over, unlocking his door, and opening it.

I almost fell back in shock. How did I not know this man lived across the hall from me? I surely would have seen him walking out. He turned and smiled at me before walking into his apartment. I tried not to look shocked, but all this time I had no idea he was living just 5 steps away. 

I close my door quickly and go to put my produce away. I tried to keep the stranger off my mind, but that seemed like an impossible task. Then, I thought of the perfect idea, I would invite him over for dinner. I wanted to get to know him, I needed to. Put all these wandering thoughts to rest.

I made us a lovely dinner of chicken and potatoes. I set everything up to look somewhat nice, and go to knock on his door. When I went to open my door to walk out, he was standing there ready to knock on my door.

He had a bouquet of different assorted flowers. I give him a small, shy smile as he hands them to me. I, of course, take them and find a vase to put them in. As I put them in the water, I look over at him, and he looks kind of sad.

“What’s wrong?”

“Are you expecting someone? I didn’t mean to come off straight forward. I just-”

“I wasn’t technically. I was going to ask you if you wanted to join me for dinner?”

“Really?” He perked up, and I nodded my head, “I was going to ask you the same thing. A home cooked meal sounds better than one you can get at any restaurant.” He chuckled.

We sat down, and talked for hours. He avoided some of the questions I asked him, but I wasn’t going to push him for answers if he didn’t want to answer them yet. We laughed, joked, and just enjoyed each other’s company. 

“I realised that I never asked for your name, doll.” He spoke up.

“My name is Y/n. I never asked yours either.”

“I guess we both figured it would come up eventually. My real name is James, but you can call me Bucky.”

I smiled as I thought of what a lovely name that was. I didn’t ask why he preferred Bucky over James. Something in me wanted to make him love it, adore it. I wanted him to treasure his given name as I was right now.

The night came to an end much to our dismay. I didn’t want to say goodnight though. I wanted him to stay, which wasn’t like me at all. I usually said yes to one date, and that was that. I don’t know what was different about Bucky, but he brought out a new side of me. He intrigued me, and I had to know more about him.

“Until next time, doll. Promise you won’t bump into another guy before then?” He chuckled.

I giggle, “I promise. You’ll be the only guy I bump into now. At least that’s my hope.”

He kissed my cheek before walking to his door, and I could have sworn I was flying. If that was the way it felt when he kissed my cheek, what would it feel like if he kissed my lips.

Over the course of three months every Sunday Bucky and I had dinner together. We started with switching off, but slowly Bucky had been taking over our Sunday night dinners. Tonight when I went over I realised that I was slowly moving into his apartment. 

“You okay doll?” He asked, looking at my far off look.

“Yeah. I just realised it looks like I’m starting to take over your apartment.”

“That was one thing I was going to ask you about tonight.”

“I’m so sorry, I’ll pick up my stuff and take back to my place i didn’t-”

“Not that. I was going to ask if you wanted to move in together. It doesn’t have to be in my apartment, and I know we’ve only been together for a few months, but-”

“You want to move in together?”

Bucky just nods slowly, and I rush to hug him. I no longer had to wonder what it would feel like to be wrapped up in his arms. I no longer had to feel that lonely feeling I felt after our Sunday night dinners. I tried to keep my mind from racing with all the things I had wondered about. 

“I’ll take that as a yes.” Bucky chuckles, squeezing me back.

After dinner, we walked over to my apartment to get some extra blankets and pillows. I hoped I hadn’t rushed him into this by slowly looking like I was trying to move myself in on my own. I hadn’t even realised that our hangouts had left with me leaving my belongings all over the place.

“My place is your place now.” He spoke up, placing the blankets he was carrying on the bed.

“I didn’t rush you into this did I?”

“No. I know it seems quick, but I just get this feeling when I’m around that makes me not want to take things as slow as we probably should.”

“I was worried I was rushing you into things. I didn’t even realise that I was leaving things over at your house.”

“No. I have been planning on asking you for a few weeks now.”

I smile as we curl into bed together for the very first time. He was warm, and I felt safe laying in his arms. Laying there for the first time in a long time, I fell asleep almost immediately.

It has been 6 months since Bucky and I started seeing each other, and it has been the best 6 months of life. Even the last 3 months have been amazing. I have enjoyed every minute I have spent with Bucky. He is sweet and kind, and I couldn’t ask for anyone better. He had my heart in his hands, and I didn’t want it back.

The only thing that was strange is he didn’t talk about his life at all. He wanted to hear all about my life, but he wouldn’t speak about his life prior to coming to Romania. I knew he originally came from America because we both switched from speaking Romanian to English when we are alone.

“Is everything okay, doll?” Bucky asked, tearing me from my thoughts.

“I was just thinking.”

“About what? You know you can tell me anything right?”

“Tell you, yes. Ask, no.” I kind of snapped as I stood up to put my plate in the sink.

“Is everything okay?” I could hear the panic in his voice, and I didn’t mean to hurt him, but I knew I had to say something, or it would eat me alive.

“I just don’t get why you want to hear all about me, but avoid questions about your life. I get it if you don’t want to talk about it now. I just don’t like it when you dodge it altogether.”

“Okay I understand that, and I’m sorry.”

Bucky really was sorry. He didn’t want to scare her away with the horrors of his past. He wanted her to know more about him. He wanted her to know that he is way older than what she may think he is. That he fought side by side with Captain America during WWII. 

He couldn’t get the words out though. He would lie awake at night trying to figure out how to tell her. Even on the nights when he found it hard to sleep, and he couldn’t lay there anymore, he wanted to wake her and just spill all the stories. 

He found warmth and comfort in her, but he didn’t want to haunt her with his past. He couldn’t taint such an angel like her, no matter how bad he wanted her to know. To hear her voice break just a little as she expressed how she felt broke him.

“You don’t have to be sorry. I just want you to know that it hurts me a little whenever you don’t give an explanation.”

“I want to tell you all about my life, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’m sorry.” His eyes went down, and my heart broke for him.

“James, look at me please?”

Bucky loved when she called him James. It was like she was trying to teach him to love his given name, and it was working. It rolled off her tongue so sweetly, and it came out so easily. He couldn’t help but obey when she asked him in that sweet tone of hers.

“The fact that you want to is enough for me right now. I’m not upset,” I smile sweetly at him, and walk over, placing my hand on his, “I don’t want to push. When you are ready, my love, I will be here waiting to listen contently.”

Bucky’s heart sighed in relief. He was worried that he had mucked everything up. He cared too much about her to let himself ruin things. If she wasn’t content with his response he would have told her everything. If it meant keeping her happy, he would give her the world.

My conversation with Bucky seemed to have gone well. He slowly started to open up little by little. He was a bit vague, but at least he was trying. The first time he actually opened up a little was the first night I had noticed he was having a nightmare.

He was tossing and turning in his sleep, and I began to worry. I had heard never to wake someone up from a nightmare, so I sat there till he shot up. He was covered in sweat, and breathing heavily. He went to lay back down not realising I was already awake until I turned on the light. He looked over with sad, apologetic eyes. I just laid my hand on the small of his back letting him know everything was okay.

“I didn’t mean to wake you.”

“You didn't, I was already awake.”

I caressed his cheek, rubbing my thumb against his cheek. He slowly leaned in, and I followed until our lips came together. Sparks flew between us, and I felt butterflies. His lips were soft and gentle. The gentle kiss though soon turned into more. 

Bucky was gentle and slow. Making sure he wasn’t pushing my comfort level, and made sure he wasn’t hurting me. It felt amazing, and was the best night ever. I hoped that with Bucky and I becoming so intimate he would see that no matter what, I wasn’t going to go anywhere.

Bucky wasn’t sure how Y/n would feel if he initiated the kiss, but she put just as much passion into it as he did. He pushed into it more, and she returned it. Before he knew it he was on top of her naked body. He made sure he didn’t push her to do something she didn’t want to, but he could tell in her eyes she had been waiting a long time for this moment.

He made sure to be as gentle with her as he possibly could, but the urge to be inside her was too much for him to bear anymore. The room was filled with their moans as their bodies were connected so intimately.

Bucky felt that everything was going to be okay between them after that night. He held her as tight as possible after that, and was able to sleep through the rest of the night. Maybe he was worried about nothing. He felt like he could do anything now as long as he had her by her side.

“James, will you run out and get some fruit for me?” I hollered from the kitchen.

Bucky came into the room as he finished getting dressed, “anything specific you want?”

“No, just something I can turn into jam. The stand has been doing really well, and I’m running low on fruit.”

Bucky smiled as he walked over to me kissing my cheek, “anything for you, doll.”

Bucky left shortly after that, and I started to package the batch I had already made. Once I finished jarring what I had, I went to the walk-in pantry we had and started to shelve them. I thought I heard the door open so I called out to Bucky, but I got no answer.

“Everything alright out there my love?” I walked out of the pantry to be met by a man dressed in an all blue outfit. He was carrying a shield on his back that was red, white, and blue with a white star in the center.

He was looking through our kitchen, and I began to panic. I had no idea who this man was, or why he was in our apartment. I couldn’t find words to say when he noticed me.

“Where is Bucky?”

“Why do you want to know?” I asked, speaking in Romanian.

The man just turned around and looked at the top of the fridge. He pulled down a book, and that’s when I felt a hand on the small of my back. I jumped slightly at first then I realised it was Bucky behind me.

The stranger turned around, and saw Bucky. He started asking weird questions like if Bucky knew him, or why he pulled him from a river? All of it was so confusing and worrying to me. Before I knew it we were being attacked by the police. 

Bucky took off and I tried to follow him, but the stranger told me to stay put. Once the fight took the streets, I tried to follow on foot. By the time I got where I thought they would come out of, they were being surrounded. Bucky was being shoved to the ground and handcuffed. 

“James!” I yelled, rushing to him, and fighting the blockade of police.

They shoved me back, but I fought back harder. It was no use though as they loaded Bucky into a huge truck. I felt like my world had just come crashing down on me. Everything that happened this last year all came flooding back to me. I knew I had to get Bucky out of there. He was an innocent man, and I knew as long as we had each other, there would be nothing we couldn’t conquer.

Y/N tried to move on as best she could, but her heart felt empty. The day they took Bucky away in handcuffs was the day her heart left her. She closed her stand in the market, and went back to her dead end job. She moved out of their shared apartment because the thought, or even smell of him was too painful.

Y/n thought that the love of her life was gone forever. She even thought about moving away permanently, but loved the city too much to do that. The once bright and bubbly girl went back to her old reclusive self before she met him. No one had ever put the light back into her. Her smile was gone, and she hardly ever laughed anymore.

She was returning home from work one night, and decided to take the long way home. She wandered towards her old apartment complex as she often did. Ignoring the weird looks she got from the people she passed by, she kept her eyes to the ground. That was her mistake as she was lost in thought when she bumped into a muscular chest, almost falling to the ground. 

A firm gentle hand grabbed her arm kept her from falling, and she fought back tears as she remembered her very first full encounter with Bucky. “I’m sorry, I should have been paying attention.” Her voice broke as she fought back the pain, not wanting to look the stranger in the eyes.

“It’s okay. I’m sorry I almost knocked you over.”

“Please don’t apologize. I was-”

“The one who bumped into me?” 

Y/n heard the man chuckle and almost felt like she could hear Bucky behind the chuckle. She gained enough courage to look up at the stranger who she bumped into, and the person she saw was not who she was expecting.

“You okay doll? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

She didn’t even hesitate to jump into his arms. It was the reunion she waited almost two years for. He picked her up and held her tightly as if he let her go, she would disappear. Y/n nuzzled her face in the crook of his neck taking in his scent.

“I’m sorry I left you. I-”

“It’s not your fault James. You’re back, and that’s all that matters.”

Bucky pulled away slightly from the hug to look her in the eyes. He pulled her in for a soft, gentle kiss. For the first time since that terrible day, Y/n smiled into the kiss. Now that they were back in each other’s arms, she finally felt like her heart was put back together. 

She didn’t care what happened, she was just happy to have him back in her arms. She was happy he was safe and sound with her again. The light in her eyes had returned, and Bucky felt like he was falling in love with her all over again. The world could throw whatever it wanted at him now. He had his girl back, and he felt like he could overcome anything as long as he kept her by his side for the rest of his life.

The CDC as well as local and Federal governments have recommended that we practice “social distancing” and isolation, something that contrary how they sound have spurred much chaos and is leading to sitting home in front of the TV, increased smartphone screen time, overeating “quarantine snacks” and increasing frustrations as our daily lifestyle has changed and become far more sedentary. What are we do to!? Here’s some healthy ideas for mind and body that I think we can all benefit from during this time. Perhaps, it is time to put down the technology a bit and to re-acquaint ourselves with simpler times.

1. Explore the path less traveled 

Ask yourself: when is the last time you climbed a tree? The answer is most likely sad (I know mine is). Is your normal workout routine disrupted by gym closures? Get outside and go for a run! Reduce your screen time and get in touch with nature by exploring your local parks, trail heads and mountains. Just remember that while this will likely be less populated than the grocery store, that you won’t be the only one out there so respect personal space by keeping distance of at least 6′ from another person. In addition, spring has officially sprung and it’s absolutely beautiful! The trees will begin to bud, the animals are out and the streams are flowing. How could this not put you in a good mood!? It’s also great cardio!

2. Read a book

For many, physical reading material is a thing of a past as we’ve embarked on an electronic mission to replace paper with kindle and online news sources, but there’s something special about a book, the way it smells, feels and connects many readers even further to the story. Now is a good time to pick up your favorite book, or one that’s been collecting dust on the shelf and dive head first into a plot that has nothing to do with our latest headlines. Better yet, take that book outside and read while getting some fresh air and soaking up some vitamin-D!

3. Bust out the board games and puzzles

You won’t have a CLUE what you’ve been missing! See what I did there!? Remember how fun games and puzzles were when we were younger? Why did that have to end? Something tells me life got too busy and we entered a truly digital age. Well, times are reverting (at least temporarily) but many of us still have those boxes of joy laying around our homes. Time to bust them out! If you’re isolated at home by yourself, puzzles are a great way to stay busy and also to keep your mind sharp and focused. Don’t have any? 4. Spring cleaning and household chores

There’s no excuse now NOT to start cleaning out your closets, under your bed, the garage... you know, all these household chores we put off come spring and put even further off by not doing it at all. Well, some of us have much time on our hands being quarantined in our homes. This is the PERFECT time to do it, plus, it gets us off the couch and gets us moving, physically, around our homes and yards. The payoff also feels great and for those of us unable to work at the moment, it can be a useless feeling so seeing improvement and getting our blood flowing is a positive thing!

For many folks, our daily, busy work lives take over and despite that some of us love to be in the kitchen, meals get tedious, routine and quite frankly... boring. To break that monotony, we spend tons of money going out to eat, sometimes necessarily, just because we are sick of our own cooking, or because we are too tired to cook. Now is the time to explore if you have a bit more time on your hands, or your daily life has become a bit less hectic. Now is as good a time as any to start your seedlings if you have a green thumb, but even if you don’t, it’s a great time to begin thinking about being more self-reliant as we find ourselves embarking on some uncertain times. Some stores remain open and while I don’t promote heading out into the public for a big shopping spree, it’s OK to keep your distance and pick up some items (IMO) as long as you remember social distancing. Get some soil, seeds, planters and start your spring vegetables. Don’t want to begin from seed and planters are expensive at a time like this? Use containers you have around the home such as larger cans, 3L soda bottles (cut 1/3, or half) or other items and re-use those romaine lettuce hearts, carrot and celery stems, etc. to begin your own little garden. Upcycling is always good and so is being able to feed yourself, at least a little, without having to go to the store all the time!

7. Video chat with friends and family

While getting away from all the technology can be cleansing and healing at times, it does permit us (especially at a time like this) to interact with loved ones that we can’t see, or visit which is really fantastic. In addition, it will help us keep morale and mental health up and maintain some level of social interaction during quarantine! Yes, the cost can be a bit high at $180 for unlimited usage over the course of a year, but each course costs $90 so in the grand scheme of things, if you do plan on using it, the unlimited option is pretty good. There are wine and culinary courses, creative courses such as performance, comedy, acting, interior design... you name it and it’s probably on there.  Don’t want to sign up for Masterclass? The internet is flooded with information to learn from, especially video platforms such as youtube. EDX also offers free online courses for a myriad of topics as well which you can complete at your own pace through various institutions. In addition, they even offer certificates (for a fee). 

10. Pick up a new hobby, or an old one

Perhaps it’s time to dust off that old musical instrument from high school, or maybe even asking your musician child to teach you a thing or two with his/her own! There’s also many arts and crafts you can do from home with limited supplies, or inexpensive supplies you can pick up from a local store that will occupy yourself and your family for hours. Daryl nodded. “Mhm,” he agreed, before giving you a playful smile. “Dun' know 'bout yer gig, though. Those five year olds are gremlins. They're gon' eat ya alive when ya start on Monday. Ya dun' stand a chance.”

You faked an offended gasp and shoved him lightly, eliciting a laugh from him. “I'll have you know, Mr Dixon, that I'm more than capable of handling a couple of five year olds. I've been doing it for two years.”

Daryl smiled and pulled you closer into his side, placing a kiss on the top of your head. “Yeah, I know. S'those high schoolers yer plannin' on teachin' one day tha's gon' eat ya up. Teenagers are the real ones ya should look out for.”

“Luckily that won't be for a while. I'm quite content on just teaching the little ones for now,” you responded, nuzzling your face into his chest. “And teenagers aren't that bad. Most of them are just misunderstood. Some of them are in situations a lot like—”

Despite cutting yourself off, Daryl knew exactly what you meant. If it were any other person, Daryl would've gotten pissed, but it wasn't just any other person. It was you, the love of his life, the person who's stuck with him despite everything, because of everything. He wouldn't fault you for one slip up. God only knows he'd said so much worse a couple of years ago, but you forgave him.

You were amazing to him like that.

“Situations a lot like wha' I went through,” Daryl finished for you, letting out a deep sigh.

“Sorry,” you hurriedly apologised, pulling back slightly to look into your boyfriend's eyes. “I didn't mean to bring it up. I—”

A tender kiss to your lips shut you up instantly. When Daryl pulled back, he gave you a reassuring smile. The last thing he wanted was for you to feel like he'd get mad at you for one minor slip of the tongue.

“S'alrigh',” he reassured you. “M'not mad. And yer righ'. There's way too many kids tha' go through wha' I went through. Tha's why any highschool would be lucky to have ya. Ya could help a lot of kids in situations like tha'. No, ya will help a lot of kids in situations like tha'. Jus' like ya helped me.”

You smiled and gently cupped his cheek, bringing him into a sweet kiss. “I love you,” you whispered when you pulled away, resting your forehead against his.

“I love ya too. More than ya'll ever know,” he responded, before pulling away and reaching for something in his pocket. “But maybe this will give ya a glimmer of how much I love ya.”

You gasped in surprise, happy tears welling up in your eyes. A choked up laugh escaped you, ecstasy flooding through your body as your eyes flickered between the man you loved and the small, round object he held delicately between his fingers.

A ring.

“I know this ain't the most expensive ring out there, and it dun' have some big diamond in the middle tha's worth more than this apartment, but m'hopin' s'enough. If I could get a better one, I would, and I will someday. Someday when I finally get promoted and yer teachin' high schoolers, when we dun' have to worry 'bout rent and shit like tha'.”

You smiled through your tears, another small laugh escaping. “Daryl—”

“Nah, please let me finish 'fore I chicken out,” he cut you off. When you nodded, he continued. “Ya've always been there fer me. Ever since we were twelve and ya started joinin' me by tha' river. When I needed ya the most, ya were always there with a reassurin' smile and a willin' ear. Then ya became my girlfriend ten years ago, and despite everythin', ya've stuck with me. Despite my outbursts, my baggage, my brother...”

You laughed at that. “I really don't like your brother.”

Daryl chuckled and nodded. “I know, but ya stayed. Fer ten years now, ya've been by my side. Yer my best friend, my partner in crime, the love of my life, and there's no one I wanna spend the rest of my days with than the beautiful, kind, funny, smart woman right in front of me. Yer my ray of sunshine, the one who always manages to make me feel better.”

Daryl adjusted himself until he was on one knee in front of you. Your breath got caught in your throat, and you scrambled to sit on your knees, your eyes sparkling in wonder as the ring glinted in the light.

“Sunshine, would ya do me the honour of bein' my wife?”

Words completely eluded you at that moment. You quickly grabbed his face and brought him into a kiss, that particular kiss conveying more than words ever could. When you pulled away, you smiled softly at him.

“Yes, I'll marry you. You didn't even have to ask.”

Daryl let out a sigh of relief and pulled you into his arms, hugging you tightly. “God, tha' was nerve wrackin'.”

You laughed as you pulled away from the hug. “I bet. You know, for a man of few words, that speech was kind of incredible. It definitely beat the one I had planned for you.”

Daryl frowned in confusion. “Wha' speech fer me?”

Nervously, you reached into your own pocket and pulled out a silver band. Daryl's eyes widened in surprise as you showed him the ring you had.

“I was kinda getting fed up with waiting for you to pop the question, so I was gonna take matters into my own hands.”

Daryl let out a laugh of surprise and shook his head. “Wow,” he mused. “Gender roles be damned, huh?”

“Damn straight,” you agreed, before motioning to the ring in his hand. “You can slip the ring on my finger, Mr Dixon.”

Complying with your request, he slipped the ring onto your finger. Before you even had to ask, Daryl extended his left hand to you. You smiled and slipped his own ring onto his finger.

Looking at the ring, Daryl smiled fondly. “Ya continue to surprise me everyday, Mrs Dixon.”

“I'm not a Dixon yet,” you reminded him, allowing him to pull you into his arms for the millionth time that day. “But I could be one soon. Maybe tomorrow, even.”

“Ya suggestin' we elope?” he asked, raising his eyebrows at the idea—an idea that sounded absolutely perfect to him. “Yer mom would kill us if she found out.”

“Well,” you began, admiring the ring on your finger. “It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Besides, we don't need some elaborate wedding to show how much we love each other. All we need is each other, and someone willing to officiate. We can go to the courthouse tomorrow.”

“Tha' sounds absolutely perfect,” Daryl agreed, pressing a kiss to your head.

“By the way, if you buy me another ring in the future to replace this one, I will be pissed. This ring is perfect.”

“Whatever makes ya happy, Mrs Dixon. I love ya.”

“I love you too.”

★ Your ages aren't specified, but I headcannon that y'all are 17-almost 18 in this au.

★ As mentioned in Through The Good Times And The Bad, you moved to the trailer park when you were twelve. However, Daryl definitely didn't approach you first. You had to go up to him and start talking to him.

★ You were exploring the woods behind the trailer park when you stumbled upon a river. There you met Daryl, and since he was the only kid there who was your age, you wanted to strike up a friendship, although it was difficult.

★ I also feel like Daryl definitely didn't talk during the first few weeks when you went up to him. With Merle and his father constantly ruining his self-esteem, he was sure that you would recognise what a screw up he was and head for the hills.

★ However, when a month passed with you showing up at the river and keeping him company, he found himself looking forward to seeing you, and with that knowledge, he slowly started warming up to you.

★ The first time he ever spoke a word to you was when you accidentally slipped on a wet rock and fell into the river. He snorted a laugh at your predicament, and couldn't resist the urge to tease you.

★ “Careful. Heard the rocks in the river ain't exactly dry.”

★ You had laughed at him and splashed some water at him, and that was the start of your friendship.

★ Although you quickly became close friends, it took almost two years for him to start opening up about his father.

★ His father's beatings had started to become way worse and he started leaving more visible marks, resulting in questioning glances from you, though you never pressed for answers. That made him feel comfortable enough to gradually start opening up to you.

★ By the time you were both 15, you knew all about his father, Daryl's past with his mother committing suicide and his asshole of a brother.

★ This is definitely the "she fell first, he fell harder" trope.

★ You had started crushing on him when you were 14. However, Daryl only started acknowledging his own feelings for you when he was 16 and you had saved up to get him a gift for his birthday.

★ His feelings had smacked him right in the face, and the rest is history.

★ Moving away from you and Daryl for now, it's pretty clear that your mom is yours and Daryl's number one shipper.

★ She knows about Daryl's abuse, but not to the extent that you do. She only knows the "basics", so to speak.

★ She's offered to talk to social services for him, but Daryl had refused, so she offered for him to stay over whenever he needed to.

★ She totally already sees Daryl as her son-in-law. She knows for a fact that you and Daryl are meant to be together, even if you're only teenagers.

★ This might only be me, but I headcannon that your mom in this was a teen mom—she got pregnant during her senior year in highschool.

★ She's implied to be a single mom, so the dad split when he found out she was pregnant.

★ She lived with her parents to raise you until you were 6. Her parents eventually kicked the two of you out and you've been in and out of multiple crappy apartments before settling on the trailer park.

★ She's the type of mom who tries to give you the freedom you desire while still being strict. Hence the "if anything happens, be sure to use protection" jokes. She knows she can't stop you from doing that, but she can ensure that you don't make her mistakes.

★ She definitely "secretly" buys condoms for you and Daryl.

★ During the first few months of your relationship, she noticed that the box remained untouched. Knowing Daryl's shyness, she knew that it wasn't because you and him were having unprotected sex. The two of you weren't like that.

★ When she noticed after a couple of months that there was finally one gone, she couldn't help the teasing she bestowed on you when Daryl went home.

★ She has met his father a number of times. The man has hit on her more times than one, completely unaware that she knew his son. However, since she was aware of the abuse, she's told him to "fuck off" every time.

A/n: Here's a part two of my personal headcannons while I mentally prepare myself for the scene I'm about to write in my newest fic. Hope y'all like these!

★ So it's quite common for us Daryl writers to have him call the reader "Sunshine", but I feel like it explains a lot about how he feels about you in this.

★ He definitely called you sunshine long before you actually got together. It's because Daryl sees his life as a bad thunderstorm, but you're the ray of sunshine that breaks through the devastating downpour.

★ Of all the things he loves the most about you, his favourite physical thing about you is your thighs. Whether you guys are watching movies on the couch and are cuddling, whether you're with him when he's driving, whether you guys are doing more... not-so-family-friendly activities, it doesn't matter. He loves gripping them. It's his absolute favourite.

★ Despite that, however, he's definitely a boob guy. He just can't hold them when you're in public, so your thighs share first place with them.

★ He definitely is also enamoured with your smile. It just makes his day so much better whenever he sees it.

★ He wanted to drop out of high school, but you talked him out of it—it wasn't easy, and you promised him that you'd support him either way, but he decided to stick it out and graduate.

★ In the first part, I mentioned that you and your mom lived with your grandparents until you were six. I definitely headcannon that your grandparents didn't love you and were deeply disappointed in your mom—they are really conservative and couldn't come to terms with the fact that their daughter got pregnant at 18.

★ They were abusive to you. Whether it was physically or mentally, that I'll let y'all decide for future fics.

★ Despite that, you remained positive. That was over a decade ago and you had refused a long time ago to allow them to be an anchor around your neck.

★ You talked to Daryl about them a while after you officially got together.

★ You told them about what they did and that made Daryl realise why you were so patient and caring with him. You understood.

★ On a more lighthearted note, Daryl has an unhealthy obsession with playing little pranks on you.

★ He's usually a serious guy, but with you, he allows himself to let loose. He plays pretty innocent pranks on you, like swapping your toothpaste out for mayonnaise. Never anything that could hurt you.

★ You always returned the favour, though, and that started many prank wars between the two of you.

★ Daryl isn't a great dancer, but sometimes he'll pull you into his arms and just sway with you, with or without music.

★ You absolutely loved it, even if you didn't understand why he did it.

★ “D, not that I'm complaining, but what's this about?”

★ “Jus' 'cause.” He never revealed more than that.

★ He would never tell you this, put he loved wearing face masks with you.

★ He kind of loved the way his skin felt afterwards. However, he loved how giggly you would get whenever he put up a "fight" and then finally agree to it.

★ He would always agree to it, but he allowed you to think you convinced him to change his mind. He'd let you have that just to see your radiant smile and hear your radiant laugh.

★ He lives for forehead kisses. Whether it's him giving them or receiving them from you, he doesn't care. He just loves them.

★ You and Daryl had both walked in on your mom being all lovey dovey with a man and teased her endlessly for it.

★ She always teased you and Daryl, so it was only fair to repay the favour, you had told her once.

★ She knew it was all in good fun, though, so she didn't scold you for it.

★ Your mom and Daryl are close. Not in a gross way, but in a familial way. She sees Daryl as her son-in-law.

★ She worked a lot of nightshirts at the bar and more often than not walked in the next morning to find you and Daryl acting all romantic in the kitchen.

★ Has she accidentally walked in on you and Daryl having sex? She would never tell...

★ She has met Daryl's father, as stated in the previous part, and absolutely hated the guy for what he was doing to Daryl.

★ She may or may not have been the reason why he had a flat tyre once and was late to something.

★ She had grown to heavily dislike her parents for how they treated her when she got pregnant with you. She vowed to herself that if you were to get pregnant at that age, she would never make you feel like you were worthless. She may have been a kid having a kid, but she loved you dearly and couldn't imagine her life without you.

★ She knew she wasn't always the best mom, but she tried her best and hoped she was doing okay.

Me: “Yeah... What about it?”

My brain: “He kinda looks nervous in it. And there's a guy already sitting at the table. Remember how you said in your headcannons post that the reader's dad split when her mom was pregnant?”

Me: knowing where this is going. “No, shut up, I'm busy with—”

My brain: “What if the reader's mom was working a night shift, so her and Daryl spent the night together in not-so-family-friendly ways. The next morning, the reader walks out wearing Daryl's shirt and her mom and some guy (reader's father) is sitting there. Reader has some obvious hickeys from the night before. Then Daryl walks out shirtless and some chaos ensues with the reader's father trying to step up and play the man of the house.”

Me: banging my head against a wall. “Shut. UP!”

My brain: “And then, what if—”

Me: screaming into my pillow in frustration.

Since I've already stated that if I were to write about them in the apocalypse and in the quarry era, they would still be together, does that mean they're married? Since, y'know, they've been together since they were teenagers? Do I make them married? Give them a kid? Give them multiple kids? Do I make the kid/s have Daryl's accent? His personality?
