Shoutmon X7 is such a wonderful representation of the power of friendship and love for Team Xros Heart and Blue Flare. Too bad that everything related to its arrival and build up had the pacing of a bullet train.

It's funny how Tagiru & Gumdramon (and Young Hunters) have this strange status of either being included in a pic of all digimon protags or not...
Because Hunters is not technically counted as its own series. Unlike Adventure'99 and 02, Hunters is officially classified as the 3rd arc/segment from Xros Wars series, which means sometimes they just count Taiki and Shoutmon to rep XW and call it a day.
Tagiru and Gumdramon are truly the Schrodinger's Digimon Animation Protagonists and i find it very fitting to their characters lol

With the finale of Digimon Ghost Game yesterday, how would you now rank the finales of each Digimon series?
You can tell it's been a minute since I've had a chance to get to these. It's what happens when you run a big tournament and immediately have a ton of con work (and a con). Anyhoo...
Appmon: Perhaps a surprise winner, but it has the massive action sequence, a tearjerker ending, didn't force an unnecessary separation, and the hero made decisive actions that both wrapped up his character arc and established where he goes next.
Tamers: Immensely powerful and ticks all of the right boxes. Both thrilling, tragic, and still somehow hopeful in the end. Only second because the partner separation, as much as it pays off and works in this ending, is out of the heroes' control.
Adventure (1999): The final farewell and the buildup to it is etched in everyone's minds as an iconic franchise moment, as it should be. But there is a lack of suspense in the final battle, which is more of a badass showcase of everyone. That's all right, but it's nice to be a little concerned about fighting a being of total destruction.
Frontier: Rough as the buildup is, it delivers on everything we wanted to see. Takuya has a proper meltdown, everyone unifies for one massive world-spanning fight against Lucemon's final form, and the big hospital scene at the end is silly yet poignant. It makes full use of everything it had to work with.
Adventure: (2020): For a series defined by spectacle, they certainly knew to go all out for the ending. A new form for Omegamon, a multi-tiered fight, and an ending that's smooth enough to offer something for every character. It's not ambitious, but it's plenty of fun.
Ghost Game: Speedrunning past the stuff that needs to be covered (big battle, exposition) to make time for things that actually ties the show together (characters taking a stand, story advancement). It's a bold choice, but it's nice to see from a show lacking in story and character meat.
Xros Wars: It's a solid enough string of action sequences and a Xros Wars-worthy final evolution. It delivers everything it needs to, but also exposes how thin the relationships in Xros Wars are, when Taiki's final farewell to Shoutmon is a hardy handshake and a congratulations. Feels like there should be more to it.
Savers: Exactly the kind of wild, badass climax you'd expect Savers to deliver, and Masaru is in top form. But it's one of those that when you let it process for a bit, forcing the Digimon back into the Digital World seems so wrong considering proving they and humans could co-exist was the point of the whole show in the first place. Masaru busting through that is but a small consolation.
Hunters: Really the only thing wrong with it is that Tagiru never cemented his place as underdog enough to earn the ending he gets. With that, you've got the last kid anyone should trust with the world forced to save it in front of legends. He brushes with that here, but his overall attitude makes it feel more like immature wish-fulfullment than a satisfying narrative conclusion.
Zero Two: Regardless of where you're at with the actual choices made with the epilogue, the franchise is still struggling to navigate all the worms it opened in that can. It's vague where it shouldn't be, definitive where it shouldn't be, and while the concept of all kids potentially becoming Chosen is both wonderful and intriguing, lobbing it at us with no development and so many distractions makes it hard to appreciate.

Akashi Tagiru, the Crimson Hunter | codename: Superstar [2018 version]
2018 timeskip. While Taiki and Yuu are busy with their personal lives and barely can hang out with him, Tagiru works as some part-time Digimon Rescuer helping Shoutmon and Wisemon capture lost digimon in the human world and send them back to the Digital World. He doesn’t seem to be the same person at first, but deep down he’s the noisy and fired up Tagiru everyone knows.
Gumdramon and him seek Digimon around Tokyo, sometimes even after College. He and Sudou Miho work together solving cases and preventing chaos caused by the digimon. Quite similar to a certain kid from the future… Huh?
One day, Tagiru found a portal connected to all the worlds and their Digital Worlds, and there the old Watchmaker waited for him. Not that the worlds are in danger again, but just in case you know? Tagiru’s memories of a certain group of people starts making him nostalgic, and he wonders how they all have been all those years. The Watchmaker doesn’t seem to bother. But something happens: He meets children from different futures. Is he their mentor now?! Luckily, the past Legends can also access this portal, but for what purpose? Who knows…

So, you come here to read my blogs, which are about 9Digi-Protagonists. It's clear, based on the name of my blog and the blog rules. But what exactly is the '9Digi-Protagonists'?
Well, let's talk about the context. I am talking about the Japanese sub.
When I say about the 'Digimon characters', it means all of the characters, main or side, good or bad, have appeared and will appear in all media branches of the Digimon franchise. When I say about the 'Main characters', it means all important characters whom the show is around.
'Protagonists' are the ones the show focuses on. They are (usually) the symbol of the show, and even when the audiences almost forget the show, they will remember them.
So, in conclusion, the '9Digi-Protagonists' are:
Yagami Taichi (14) and Agumon from Digimon Adventure (1999-2000)
Motomiya Daisuke (11) and V-mon from Digimon Adventure 02 (2000-2001)
Matsuda Takato (10) and Guilmon from Digimon Tamers (2001-2002)
Kanbara Takuya (11) and his Spirit (Agnimon/Vritramon) from Digimon Frontier (2002-2003)
Daimon Masaru (14) and Agumon from Digimon Savers (2006-2007)
Kudou Taiki (14) and Shoutmon from Digimon Xros Wars (2010-2011)
Akashi Tagiru (13) and Gumdramon from Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time (2011-2012)
Shinkai Haru (14) and Gatchmon from Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters (2016-2017)
Amanokawa Hiro (13) and Gammamon from Digimon Ghost Game (2021-2023)
Some of you may have the following questions, and I will answer:
Why is Yagami Taichi from Digimon Adventure: (or, as you may know, 'the reboot of the original') not listed here? Reboot Taichi and Original Taichi may have the same name and appearance, but they are very different. I respect Reboot Taichi as a character. However, I… have mixed feelings about the reboot generally. Not that I hate it, but… By the way, I think it's better to not include him in the group. Although the shenanigans when we have two Taichi in the room are very fun… You can still ask me about him, of course!
Why do you include such annoyed/flat characters? I can't imagine how you can make interesting interactions by including them! In my opinion, there are no bad characters, only bad writing and bad interpretation. Characters' developments exist after all. And I think all Digimon characters have been written very well! It's just that Adventure (and especially 02, remove tri) have a specific, implicit, signature way of writing characters' personalities and developments. And Tamers has a special general way of writing (actually, not because it's dark). But not because other series don't have that way of writing characters that their characters have bad writing. You can see a lot of characters over there have really bad ways of writing. So, no, I think all the characters I have chosen above are very suitable.
Why is the Japanese sub? I think the sub and the dub are the same, right? Uh… It's a truth that no matter how good your dubbing is, there will always be differences. Japanese culture has very unique differences. We cannot add a long note about those differences in the show; that is obvious. And although Digimon's dubbing is very good compared to other dubs, I just want to respect the original one. So we come to the conclusion that the sub and the dub are very different. The main reason, after the fact that some people don't know about this large gap, is that not many people rewatch another version of what they have seen. That is absolutely beyond blame. And to avoid bias or discrimination, we are talking about the previous American dub. Modern dubs or non-related-to-American dubs are usually closer to the original.
If you have any other questions, please ask me!

✨~ Pinned! ~✨
If you've found this blog and interacted with this post, that likely means you either:
1.) Are intimidated by the much bigger and fancier digimon rp blogs here,
2.) You've found only dead digimon rp blogs from decades ago,
3.) You just wanna itch your digimon rp desires because of the following above, or
4.) You just wanna interact.
Then you're probably in luck for finding this blog!
For this is an indie, post-canon and headcanon centric ask/rp blog for Taiki and Shoutmon from Digimon Xros Wars.
~~~
||Rules||
• Avoid god-modding- Pretty much just basic rp rules we've all seen and heard.
• No NSFW (not counting violence and blood. Gore mostly kept at a minimum.)
• M!A's are a ok! Just so long as it's nothing uncomfortable in my books.
• Please be patient! I may not be able to reply to you instantly, but i will get there. If i haven't replied in a while, feel free to tag me!- so long as it's not every few seconds/minutes-
• not necessarily a rule but- doubles (if there are any out there-) come on by! I want to see our Shoutmon's duke it out- or not-
~~~
Follows back from @nakamanokizuna or @shoutmonishere
{Mod profile}
* Howl (he/they)
* The Xros Wars enthusiast™
* Probably around 7 years of rp experience- but dont let that deter you! I'd love to interact with you!
* Semi-literate- in short i sometimes type alot with fancy words- but don't let that deter you either, that also means i type not so fancy stuff-
* Activity constantly fluctuating.
~~~
{Muse profile}
* Shoutmon (he/him, but they/them's cool too)
* The king of the digital world. With peace (mostly) achieved, he has time to show up in the human world more often.
* Pure of heart, dumb of ass (but atleast a little wiser)
* This literally doesn't matter but he's like 4'0".
* He's literally a foot shorter than Taiki, idk.
* Taiki Kudou (he/him)
* Hottokenai™
* 2 years post-Hunters, this dumbass is 16,
* And he still has relatively horrible self preservation.
* Dw, he probably has more stuff going on here than in canon (or rather briefly shown in canon). I will give him his own problems to deal with- i think—
Fifth Review - Let’s Talk About DigiXroses
Been in a Digimon mood for a while, and I’ve spent part of that mood designing a few of my own Digimon. As I was planning and sketching things, I ended up coming back to Xros Wars (as I oft seem to do >_>). When it comes to fan created Digimon, I’d say 90% are based on Adventure (Child-to-Ultimate), with another 9% from 02 (Armors or Jogress) or Tamers (Bio-Merges). Very few OrigiDigi use the Spirit, Burst, or Xros mechanics, and the few times I have seen DigiXroses have been XrosUps (the blended forms seen in Boy Hunters).
Tumblr media
However, the iconic DigiXroses are not XrosUps, but Xroses that utilize every element of the fusing Digimon in a very toyetic way, like a Megazord (maybe why I like them so much). I can count the number of times I’ve seen an OrigiDigi of this type attempted on one hand, and never more than a X2, which is where the above designs come into play.
I like Digimon, I like toys, and I like creature design, so I challenged myself to try designing a complete Xros of 3 or higher. As Shoutmon is loosely based on Omegamon, I used Dukemon as a rough base, then tried creating a new combination scheme. It was quite a long process, taking a few months of mental planning, and a few days of sketching.
Tumblr media
I was so happy with this first attempt, that I ended up commissioning artist @/EL_POYOMON to render them in the traditional Digimon style (who you should go check out; they’re really cool and very nice).
Going through everyone in order, I wanted a small, Child-level-esque Digimon, similar to Shoutmon, which is where Partymon comes in. I mostly tried replicating Shoutmon’s general physique, with the head and dreads specifically being designed so they would form 1) a head piece similar to Dukemon’s, part of the reason he has non-standard eyes, and 2) the fingers for the right arm he would eventually form.
Tumblr media
Since Shoutmon X5, MetalGreymon, and DarkKnightmon are all comprised of male Digimon, I specifically wanted a Digimon that was obviously female, hence Ladysmon. Her transformation scheme was probably the hardest, where I knew I wanted her to split down the middle, but it took me a while to figure out what to do with her arms. I also didn’t come up with the ladybug motif until I started planning names. I think my original plan for her was an angel? But I didn’t know what to do with her wings. Once I settled on ladybug, incorporating her wings into a Dukemon-esque shield became easy, and everything flowed after that.
Tumblr media
The last of our trio is Comicmon. I settled on the dragon motif pretty early, as, like Ladysmon, Dragons are a pretty common Digimon staple that weren’t utilized in any of the canon Xroses. This design was probably the easiest to get to transform, and I’m pretty sure he has a drill because I needed something that looked like a lance, and drills are cool (and make great tails). Once I settled on a name, the POW using the eye as an O, and the comic-sound-effect-esque mane on the head and tail came quickly after.
Tumblr media
There isn’t much to say about PartyKnightmon, since he’s a combination of all the above elements, so let’s talk about names. I don’t remember when I settled on “Partymon” as a name, but it existed long before any of the others had one. I was originally going to call their combined form “Partymon X3,” since Shoutmon is the only Digimon that uses that name scheme, and I wanted a second one, but as I was trying to come up with names for everyone else, the name PartyKnightmon popped into my head, and the names Ladysmon and Comicmon came soon after as they all had a common theme:
Party Night, Lady’s Night, Comic Night; PartyKnightmon, LadysKnightmon, ComicKnightmon. A unique name scheme that worked for possible X2s.
Tumblr media
Maybe this is a little big headed of me, but one of my hopes in commissioning these guys was to inspire other people to try the idea. Compared to a usual Digimon line, DigiXroses are quite complicated when it comes to the toyetic design aspects, but it’s really a fun challenge. I’d love to see more artists with different design philosophies give it a shot.
And just because I cranked one out doesn’t mean I’m done with DigiXroses just yet. While these were being worked on, I started ironing out several more projects, including some evolutions related to these designs, a new X4 with intermediary Xroses, and a new evolution for the existing Greymon design. I don’t know if I’ll commission them all (because, remember, that costs money), but I will eventually post them "elsewhere” if you’re curious (@/EPY_RM).
Tumblr media
Overall, this was a fun little self-challenge, which sent me down quite the design rabbit hole. I’d like it if at least one other person got a little inspiration from seeing these designs, as I really do want to see other people’s takes, so if you draw anything Xros Wars related, let me know! :)
And, again, check out Poyo. I couldn’t have done this without them.
