saw this, and the text about error made me think- if nightmare insulted error in spanish, he would know from all his hours watching undernovela. maybe he wouldnt be able to translate it, but he'd definitely have picked up on some fighting words.

if he HAS actually learned some though, he could pull the power move at throwing spanish insults back at him. if he can pull nightmares mom into it too, we're getting into a fistfight for sure lol

I actually really love the idea of Error knowing a lil bit of Spanish, he kinda picked up on some phrases and words but isn’t fluent in it

Nightmare is definitely fluent on the other hand (his native language), and I can see him getting so frustrated he just switches to Spanish, Error would definitely pick up on insults if they do happen and he definitely wouldn’t shy away from insulting back

i think it’s interesting how sunny is the bad people who do bad things show (to a cartoonish extent, which is of course where its comedy comes from) but other sitcoms have bad people that aren’t presented as such. for example, the big bang theory. tbbt, like sunny, revolves around a group of friends who do selfish and incredibly hurtful things to each other, and even seem to hate each other. yet with the big bang theory because there’s a laugh track in the background is presented as your average it-all-works-out-in-the-end sitcom. of course, tbbt has never reached even close to the level of evil in the sense that sunny has- but the relentless xenophobia and racism directed at raj, the almost violently chauvinistic howard, the cartoonishly selfish sheldon- these are not people that i like and they often do incredibly bad things. yet they are presented as “good” characters in the sense that they are successful and get what they want, and aren’t often punished by the narrative. yes, jokes are made at their expense, but the each episode ends in the typical sitcom structure with their problems resolved. many times while watching tbbt, i wondered if these characters were truly growing and maturing. often they reverted back to old habits with a barb and a laugh. the show ends with the characters having the lives they dreamed of, for the most part. yet even when i watched this series at fourteen, i was wondering if they really deserved it. the characters of sunny are punished for their arch, cruel, and downright evil behaviors in almost every episode. both shows have characters who constantly insult and manipulate each other, but the tone is very different. iasip has a depth that tbbt cannot reach. it discusses and analyzes the characters and their world in a way that tbbt never really does. sunny is a show with bad people who are framed as bad, and tbbt is a show with bad people framed as good. and yet the big bang theory has seven emmys and two spin offs. hm.
