ommgg fallen leaves being possessive and slightly unhinged is so good. like, over the course of holly's stay in the tunnels there are signs--but holly also refusing to move on and be with her loved ones.

then hollyleaf realizes: "wait he's a little crazy, actually" . like, an omen of what could happen to her if she doesn't leave the tunnels and confront her past mistakes.

so in the end, fallen leaves' own self-destructive behavior further pushes the first friend he's had in decades away--and hollyleaf's decision to amend for what she's done/learning to live with her identity directly contrast's fallen's.

living in denial for what, a century? just exacerbates fallen leaves' fixation on isolating himself. he refuses to move on because doing so would mean he has to acknowledge that he made a mistake in his own ambition to become a sharpclaw. him impatiently going into the tunnels for his assessment ultimately resulted in a world of pain for his mother and groupmates--which also led to them leaving the lake and going to the mountains. (you could also rewrite his backstory and he still serves as a decent parallel to holly.)

plus it's deliciously dark to have fallen want to keep holly in the tunnels so she can die (and stay dead in the eyes of her loved ones) so he doesn't have to be alone anymore. alone with your mistakes for possibly eternity OR project yourself onto the next living thing within a 5 mile radius so you can BOTH live with your mistakes. TOGETHER.

speaking of goosefeather and yellowfang i actually gave a reason for why they have powers at all in the rewrite.

it essentially boils down to starclan being terrified at the near immediate promise of superpowered beings being born from their collective action to allow/vote for skyclan to be exiled; because they pissed off whatever higher power that resides beyond them. it's established in canon that starclan is not responsible for every prophecy, INCLUDING the po3 one.

so, in an effort to combat these future threats, they attempted to create the three on their own. and if that failed, they could still use these cats as tools to fight whatever was to come.

goosefeather was the first "blessed" cat, and it shows. his powers tap into that higher source of prophecies/omens, things that the mortal ear was never meant to hear--it fucks with him. he gets bombarded with visions and warnings of scenarios he will never live to see, and it ends up causing more trouble for himself and the clan than good. starclan realized this and goes "oh shit" and backs off for a while.

yellowfang is next, though her power is reeled back a fair amount. it's still intrusive, specifically when she's younger, but it does something. she's pushed into the healers den because of this.

i have more thoughts about brokenkit being framed as a harebringer of destruction by starclan to take some heat off their back, but that's a very WIP thing atm.

tdlr; starclan fucked around and found out...and unintentionally unleashed multiple tyrants onto the forest. one plus is that a certain ginger kittypet is brought to their attention because of this chaos, though.

bumble wc is just a piece of writing from this series that TRULY astounds me. like the characters do not acknoledge that shes a living person whatsoever once she becomes a "nuisance" (she is fat and a house pet). and on top of that, to have turtle tail turn her back on her as well??>?? because gray wing has it bad for her and so we have to exterminate the "obstacle" in the way of their straight romance???

like i expect gray wing and clear sky to be dicks but..why would TURTLE TAIL rationally allow her friend (who lived through the same abuse as she) be shunned away from the moor group??

its some of the most mean spirited shit in this entire series and it only exists as a plotline...for what reason??? cause "kittypets are bad you dont want to be a kittypet"?? its not like you remind us every fucking arc erin hunter. because we're supposed to like gray wing and they really wanted him to serve as an adoptive parent to turtle's litter?? like..what???

i dont even have a real point to this post i just want to express my confusion cause what even was the goal. it does nothing but make the entire cast abuse-enabling discriminatory assholes who are willing to send outsiders to easily preventable deaths. and we're supposed to agree with these jackasses??? one thing i love about universes with feral/quadrupedal animals is when they redesign items familiar to us to better fit characters who don't have hands. like year they can't wear bags the same way we do so they instead have harnesses/saddles like this cause of course they would:

or using latch doorknobs OR EVEN swinging doors being more commonplace. animals like cats and dogs can open those easier in real life so translating that into a fictional world is a fun idea. why would a world full of mainly no-thumb-havers even bother with round knobs lol

oooo or the issue of sanitation because if you are using your paw/hooves/etc to walk....are you expected to wash them anytime you use them like hands or does the general population just ignore that because "hell we all do it". is there a mix of reactions because of cultural differences? how do winged creatures like bats and birds deal with...any of this????

all the unique ways they could build weapons and armor...do they have artificial horns or claws they could put on? how practical would a wielding a sword/spear via your mouth be???

also when everything like architecture or furniture is scaled down or altered for quads. is super fun visually as well. it makes my brain go: ":)" every single time

yellowfang genuinely believing that because brokenstar was "cursed" and that her (being manipulated into) giving him up...her loosing her daughters at birth...and that this meant she was incapable of birthing and raising a cat like firestar....ooooo...

then later projecting herself onto leafpool having the three...which, as old as their prophecy is, i would imagine causing some unrest in starclan....her children having a "pre-determined" destiny, being born against the same rules that brokenstar was...

both leaf and yellow and their similar powers...its all too much really

i need to fully watch s9 of mlp fim honestly but oh god do i not like the tone of that season. everything feels off and...cynical?? if that makes sense??? at least the finale's song is great and feels genuine but bleh.

i have a lot of thoughts and feelings about fireheart and cloudtail's relationship through arc one.

rusty being indoctrinated into the clans only because of a prophecy and an innate need to feel like he's part of something bigger. ironically triggering like at least five other prophecies surrounding yourself and your lineage, far outliving you yourself (how big is that?). fire constantly being singled out and shunned for his origins and for ever questioning/going against the code. the taunts and microaggressions never really stopping even after you assume the role of leader. all of this because of a choice he made when he was a child.

then you have cloudtail. fireheart bringing his infant nephew into a cult, removing him of that choice and then later shunning him for not "acting like a warrior". like yeah no shit this child is acting out and ignoring authority because that same authority is constantly bullying him for his heritage.

that scene where fireheart learns that cloudtail doesnt believe in starclan...and fire is horrified. enough to the point where he wants to intimidate/frighten his own kin into believing???? like his own mentors and clanmates had been doing to him ever since he joined??? (btw can totally feel the white british Christian woman influence seeping through, there....)

cloud being kidnapped by twolegs is framed as the final nail in the coffin for cloud to see the "error of his ways" and truly commit to his warrior role. idk something about that strikes me as...odd (again yt middle aged women wrote these books)

i could go on and on really. again, im always eating up any "firestar is a deeply flawed character/possibly a failed prophet who was brainwashed into containing the clan's status quo" content i can get. especially if he reflected on his role later in life and realized that he's directly responsible for forcing cloudtail into a similar position despite believing it would do him good?? midlife crisis firestar???

and brambleclaw, who was already distrustful of her due to her discovering his df shenanigans from TNP...now aware that (according to hawk’s final words) someone within thunderclan was attempting to expose/frame him for firestar’s murder...WHAT IF HE WAS AWARE THAT LEAF AND HAWK HAD SOMETHING GOING ON AND NOW SUSPECTS THAT SHE TRIED TO SET HIM UP...
