Christie’s International Real Estate, along with EWM Realty International, is a marquee sponsor of Art Miami and its sister event, CONTEXT Art Miami, for the eighth consecutive year.  Christie’s and its affiliates will host an interactive booth at the main entrance of Art Miami, displaying luxury residential properties from around the world.

Art Miami’s works on display will include Peter Anton’s CHOCO TOWER, a 10-foot tall sculpture of five chocolates stacked on top of each other that weighs more than 1,000 pounds. Made from painted aluminum, the sculpture will be on display at Stuttgart-based Galerie von Braunbehrens’s booth, part of an edition of three works, each painted in different colors.

The developers of the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Sunny Isles Beach, which just topped off, will be the official sponsor of the 17th annual ArtNexus Party in Wynwood. Developed by Fortune International Group and Château Group, The Ritz-Carlton Residences will be hosting the VIP lounge during the party, with a scale model of the condo tower.

The event will also unveil Uruguayan artist Pablo Atchugarry sculpture for the exterior of the project’s Oceanside tower. Atchugarry will debut a sketch of his piece, and guests will celebrate the opening of his family gallery in Wynwood, the Atchugarry Art Center.

Acqualina Resort & Spa’s AQ Bar is hosting an event on Thursday, in partnership with Fine Art Mia. Cervera’s hosting “The Art of Living” collection at Red Dot Miami, beginning with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday and ending on Sunday at Mana Wynwood. The collection will showcase some of Cervera’s exclusive projects, including Aston Martin Residences Miami, Aria on the Bay and Elysee Miami.

Oppenheim Architecture’s Ilona Oppenheim and the Related Group’s Jorge Pérez on Tuesday evening will celebrate their new book “Island in the Light,” which features 35 artists and 30 writers celebrating contemporary Cuban art, music and literature.

The project, designed by Rene Gonzalez Architects, will display Richard Serra’s “Passage of Time,” a 218-foot-long sculpture that will be installed in the courtyard. The 45,000-square-foot building was designed to incorporate an 80-foot-tall light installation by James Turrell’s “Aten Reign.” The building is slated to be completed in 2023.

Gonzalez also designed Sotheby’s (RED) Auction exhibition. Artist Theaster Gates and architect Sir David Adjaye are hosting an event Wednesday in the Moore Building in the Miami Design District, which will auction works of art by Jeff Koons, Pierre Jeanneret, Zaha Hadid and more, with proceeds benefiting the Global Fund to Fight AIDS and the Rebuild Foundation.

On Friday, Valli Art Gallery is hosting a private event in Miami Beach’s Star Island. Miami is getting a rare look inside the world of Banksy at the planned site of the Magic City Innovation District. The Little Haiti site just opened an exhibit with over 80 original works by the artist. The Art of Banksy is curated by Steve Lazarides, Banksy’s former business partner, and displays the world’s largest collection of the artist’s works, including the “Balloon Girl” and the “Flag Wall.”

Lexus held a kickoff cocktail for Design Miami at Le Sirenuse at Fort Partner’s Four Seasons Residences at The Surf Club on Monday, unveiling its luxury crossover vehicle, LF-1 Limitless, designed by Japanese architect Socha Ichikawa. Lexus is the official automotive partner of Design Miami.

Last week, even before Art Basel, some developers began celebrating art and design. Jade Signature in Sunny Isles Beach’s developers Edgardo and Cristina Defortuna held a book signing of Pierre Yves Rochon’s Interior Splendor. Rochon designed the common areas of Jade Signature, including the lobby, library, and Club Room, and also designed the interiors of London’s Savoy, the Four Seasons George V in Paris and the Waldorf Astoria, now under construction in New York.

Head to Main Street Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25 for the massive Manayunk Arts Festival, where nearly 300 craftsmen from all over the country can be found.

MANAYUNK ARTS FESTIVAL FAST FACTS

The two-day festival runs June 24, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and June 25, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Admission to the festival is free, but bring money for the arts and food vendors.

Restaurants and boutiques along Main Street will offer sales and outdoor seating.

The festival offers visitors the chance to browse goods of all sorts while basking in a festival atmosphere full of food and other al fresco fun on open streets in Manayunk.

Approximately 300 local and national artists travel to Manayunk every year for the neighborhood’s enormous arts festival. Getting There and Staying Over

With so many blocks closed to traffic along Main Street, parking will be difficult. Organizers recommend biking or taking public transportation to Manayunk.

SEPTA’s Manayunk/Norristown Line takes you to the Manayunk stop, just a short walk from all of the activities on Main Street. SEPTA Bus routes 35 and 61 also drop guests off mere steps from the festival.

The festival will also run shuttle buses throughout the day. Board at one of two locations: 555 City Avenue or at the Ivy Ridge Train Station on Umbria Street. For $4, the shuttles will drop you off at different points throughout the festival.

Active types can ride into Manayunk on two wheels, biking along Kelly Drive from Center City along the Schuylkill River Trail.

Do not look behind you, and do not stay [q]anywhere in the valley; escape to the [r]mountains, or you will be swept away.” 18 But Lot said to them, “Oh no, my lords! 19 Now behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your lovingkindness, which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the [s]mountains, for the disaster will overtake me and I will die; 20 now behold, this town is near enough to flee to, and it is small. Please, let me escape there (is it not small?) [t]that my life may be saved.” 21 He said to him, “Behold, I grant you this [u]request also, not to overthrow the town of which you have spoken. 22 Hurry, escape there, for I cannot do anything until you arrive there.” Therefore the name of the town was called [v]Zoar.

23 The sun had risen over the earth when Lot came to Zoar. 24 Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven, 25 and He overthrew those cities, and all the [w]valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. 26 But his wife, from behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

27 Now Abraham arose early in the morning and went to the place where he had stood before the Lord; 28 and he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the [x]valley, and he saw, and behold, the smoke of the land ascended like the smoke of a [y]furnace.

29 Thus it came about, when God destroyed the cities of the [z]valley, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.

Lot Is Debased

30 Lot went up from Zoar, and [aa]stayed in the [ab]mountains, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to [ac]stay in Zoar; and he [ad]stayed in a cave, he and his two daughters. 31 Then the firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man [ae]on earth to come in to us after the manner of the earth. 32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and let us lie with him that we may preserve [af]our family through our father.” 33 So they made their father drink wine that night, and the firstborn went in and lay with her father; and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. 34 On the following day, the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father; let us make him drink wine tonight also; then you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve [ag]our family through our father.” 35 So they made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger arose and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.36 Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father. 37 The firstborn bore a son, and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day. 38 As for the younger, she also bore a son, and called his name Ben-ammi; he is the father of the [ah]sons of Ammon to this day.

Abraham’s Treachery

20 Now Abraham journeyed from there toward the land of the [ai]Negev, and [aj]settled between Kadesh and Shur; then he sojourned in Gerar.2 Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” So Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Behold, you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is [ak]married.” 4 Now Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, “Lord, will You slay a nation, even though [al]blameless? 5 Did he not himself say to me, ‘She is my sister’? And she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my [am]hands I have done this.” 6 Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also [an]kept you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her. 7 Now therefore, restore the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”

8 So Abimelech arose early in the morning and called all his servants and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were greatly frightened. 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, “What have you done to us? And [ao]how have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done to me [ap]things that ought not to be done.” 10 And Abimelech said to Abraham, “What have you [aq]encountered, that you have done this thing?” 11 Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife. 12 Besides, she actually is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife; 13 and it came about, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, ‘This is [ar]the kindness which you will show to me: [as]everywhere we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’” 14 Abimelech then took sheep and oxen and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored his wife Sarah to him. 15 Abimelech said, “Behold, my land is before you; [at]settle wherever [au]you please.” 16 To Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; behold, it is [av]your vindication before all who are with you, and before all men you are cleared.” 17 Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maids, so that they bore children. 18 For the Lord had closed fast all the wombs of the household of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

Psalm 1

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the [a]path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by [b]streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its [c]leaf does not wither; And [d]in whatever he does, he prospers.

4 The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the Lord [e]knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.

Mark 7

The Pharisees and some of the scribes gathered around Him when they had come from Jerusalem, 2 and had seen that some of His disciples were eating their bread with impure hands, that is, unwashed. 3 (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they [a]carefully wash their hands, thus observing the traditions of the elders; 4 and when they come from the market place, they do not eat unless they [b]cleanse themselves; and there are many other things which they have received in order to observe, such as the [c]washing of cups and pitchers and copper pots.) 5 The Pharisees and the scribes *asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands?” 6 And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:

‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. 7 ‘But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’

8 Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”

9 He was also saying to them, “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition. 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, is to [d]be put to death’; 11 but you say, ‘If a man says to his father or his mother, whatever I have that would help you is Corban (that is to say, [e]given to God),’ 12 you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother; 13 thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that.”

The Heart of Man

14 After He called the crowd to Him again, He began saying to them, “Listen to Me, all of you, and understand: 15 there is nothing outside the man which can defile him if it goes into him; but the things which proceed out of the man are what defile the man. 16 [[f]If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”]

17 When he had left the crowd and entered the house, His disciples questioned Him about the parable. 18 And He *said to them, “Are you so lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him, 19 because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and [g]is eliminated?” (Thus He declared all foods clean.) 20 And He was saying, “That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, [h]fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, 22 deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, [i]envy, slander, [j]pride and foolishness. 23 All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man.”

The Syrophoenician Woman

24 Jesus got up and went away from there to the region of Tyre[k]. And when He had entered a house, He wanted no one to know of it; [l]yet He could not escape notice. 25 But after hearing of Him, a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately came and fell at His feet. 26 Now the woman was a [m]Gentile, of the Syrophoenician race. And she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27 And He was saying to her, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not [n]good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” 28 But she answered and *said to Him, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.” 29 And He said to her, “Because of this [o]answer go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.” 30 And going back to her home, she found the child [p]lying on the bed, the demon having left.

31 Again He went out from the region of Tyre, and came through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, within the region of Decapolis. 32 They *brought to Him one who was deaf and spoke with difficulty, and they *implored Him to lay His hand on him. 33 Jesus took him aside from the crowd, by himself, and put His fingers into his ears, and after spitting, He touched his tongue with the saliva; 34 and looking up to heaven with a deep sigh, He *said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!” 35 And his ears were opened, and the [q]impediment of his tongue [r]was removed, and he began speaking plainly. 36 And He gave them orders not to tell anyone; but the more He ordered them, the more widely they continued to proclaim it. 37 They were utterly astonished, saying, “He has done all things well; He makes even the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”
