According to a post on his son's (Gunnar) Facebook, Sid Eudy passed away today at age 63 after a many years long battle with cancer.
He will be remembered fondly by wrestling fans throughout, whether as "Sycho" Syd, Sid Vicious, or Sid Justice: Master and Ruler of the Universe.
At the beginning of his career, he tagged with Dan Spivey as the other half of the Skyscrapers. Later in the WWF and in WCW, he would go on successful solos runs. He held the WCW Heavyweight belt and the WWF Championship belt twice each.

I am saddened to learn of the death of Psycho Sid /Sid Vicious/Sid Justice( Sid Eudy ). Sid was one of those wrestlers who would make the fans feel something , whether you cheered him, booed , him and or were terrified of him. He was also one of the only five wrestlers to be a headliner of both Wrestlemania and Starrcade. He ruled the ring and the world. There will never be another Sid. My condolences go out to his family and his friends during this time . If you haven’t , please go watch one of his matches . My favorite match of his was when he faced Shawn Michaels for the WWF Championship at the 1997 Royal Rumble.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated: October 1993
press conference…
SID VICIOUS
Every issue, reports from PRO WRESTLING ILLUSTRATED will participate in an incisive press conference with a top wrestling star. The questions will be demanding. And the answers will reveal the innermost thoughts of the giants of the sport.
[Sid Vicious stunned WCW twice: first by returning under the management of Col. Parker, then by joining forces with Big Van Vader.]
WHEN SID VICIOUS returned to WCW in mid-May, the general consensus was that the 6’8” 318-pound-muscleman would resume his temporarily suspended assault on the WCW World heavyweight title. The general consensus was wrong. Shortly after arriving, he formed an alliance with the champion himself. Big Van Vader.
It’s an incredible duo. Each possesses an awesome power bomb, a potentially crippling maneuver both men have used it on Sting, Nikita Koloff, Cactus Jack, and Ron Simmons. Could Vicious be next?
Vicious, known as Sid Justice in the WWF, is one of wrestling’s most notorious underachievers. When he came out of West Memphis Arkansas, in the late 1980s, everyone thought he was bound for heavyweight superstardom. But, after a failed alliance with The Four Horsemen, Sid stalled in WCW. He jumped to the WWF and targeted the title, but was eventually upstaged by Hulk Hogan. He left the federation after losing to the “Hulkster” at WrestleMania VIII.
After that, Sid wrestled only once (teaming with Johnny Rotten at the Kerry Von Erich memorial card in early April) before returning to WCW and becoming Vicious again. To the surprise of many, he returned with a manager, Col. Robert Parker. The one constant in Sid’s inconsistent career has been bad management and poor advice. Again he seems willing to put himself in someone else’s hands.
Shortly aftercoming back to WCW, Vicious took some time out from a heavy training session to speak with PWI Senior Writer Dave Rosenbaum, Managing Editor V.J. Paterno, and Associate Publisher Craig Peters. He once again proved that he’s not just some dumb muscleman but actually a pretty bright guy.
DAVE ROSENBAUM: Let’s get right to the point, Sid. When are you going to wrestle Vader?CRAIG PETERS: Boy, you’ve never heard of tact, have you, Dave?SID VICIOUS: That’s fine with me. I don’t like glazing over the facts, so if you have something to ask me, just ask it. The answer is, I don’t know.
V.J. PATERNO: You don’t know? VICIOUS: That’s what I said. Need an explanation?
ROSENBAUM: We wouldn’t mind one. After all, it doesn't make sense for you to be friends with Vader. He has the belt.
VICIOUS: Who said friends can’t wrestle?PATERNO: Well…
VICIOUS: Well, nothing. Vader and I have an understanding. We can speak honestly with each other, and when I’m ready to wrestle him, I’ll let him know it. I guarantee he won’t say no.
[“I’ll wrestle Vader when I’m ready to beat him the first time with three beats of the arm.”]
ROSENBAUM: I heard him say he’d beat you no problem.
VICIOUS: He’s confident. I’m confident. He wouldn’t stand a chance, but it would be a tough match.
PETERS: Is that a prediction? VICIOUS: No, it’s a fact. Vader’s a great champion, one of the best in WCW history, but he’s not unbeatable. He knows that. We talk about it all the time.
PATERNO: You talk about his weaknesses? VICIOUS: We talk about mine, too. It’s a short discussion.
ROSENBAUM: Very sharp. So when’s it going to happen?
VICIOUS: I told you. I don’t know.
PETERS: What’s your idea of ready? VICIOUS: I’ve seen plenty of challengers take 20 matches and they’re not ready to win the belt until the 15th. Eventually, the champion’s going to make a mistake and lose, but that’s not fair. I’ll wrestle Vader when I’m ready to beat him the first time with three beats of the arm. That’s when.
PATERNO: Does Col. Parker have a schedule for you? VICIOUS: If he does, he’s not saying. The Colonel’s different from the others. He doesn’t put pressure on me. He wants the title and he knows I want the title. The plan is to proceed cautiously. I’m young. There’s plenty of time.
ROSENBAUM: I hope this doesn’t come off sounding wrong, but you sound more mature Sid.
VICIOUS: Are you saying I'm not mature?
PETERS: Nice wording, Dave.
ROSENBAUM: No, I’m just saying you’re more patient and you seem to be thinking before you act. For instance, I don't think you would’ve joined The Four Horsemen if you really gave it some deep thought.
VICIOUS: I gave it some deep thought. It was the right move at the time, but Flair was afraid of me and he never admitted it publicly. I would’ve won the belt several times, but Flair always got in the way. That was the problem.
PATERNO: Do you regret joining the Horsemen?
VICIOUS: I don’t regret anything. It was an experience. Nothing wrong with that.
[Vicious feuded with Sting in late-1990, culminating in a remarkable title match at Halloween Havoc. Sting and Davey Boy Smith were Vicious and Vader’s first targets upon uniting.]
PETERS: You just got done with your workout…
VICIOUS: I’m not done. I’m in the middle. If I was done, I wouldn’t be sitting here in these sweaty shorts.
PETERS: Well, my question is, how long do your workouts last and what do they consist of?
VICIOUS: They last up to three hours, broken up into one hour of warming up in the first half and two hours of heavy lifting in the second half. I bench-press, squat, deadlift, do curls, leg exercises, more bench-presses, jump rope, a few of the Colonel’s secret exercises.
PETERS: Secret exercises? What are they?
VICIOUS: I can't say. They’re secrets.
[Vicious is as–well, as vicious as ever. Here, he holds an opponent by the hair as Harley Race delivers a beating of his own and Parker looks on.]
ROSENBAUM: Of course, Craig. They’re secrets. Are your workouts more intense than they used to be?VICIOUS: Not more intense, just more focused, just like the rest of my life. I’m not into wasting time anymore. I’m not into having fun. I’m into winning and doing everything necessary to make sure I win.
PATERNO: Let’s talk some more about the Horsemen. What do you think about their reunion?VICIOUS: I think Paul Roma’s a bad substitute for Sid Vicious.
PATERNO: Is that all?VICIOUS: I think Flair, Ole, and Arn are old and past their prince. I think Flair will use Roma every way he can. I think that since Tully Blanchard, the toughest man in the whole group, isn't around anymore, it makes them a weaker team. I think The Four Horsemen should’ve stayed retired the first time, instead of running the risk of having some like me retire them the second. I could do it.
ROSENBAUM: Would you like to get your hands on Flair?VICIOUS: It’s not a priority, but it would be nice. It would give me great pleasure to give him a one-way ticket out of wrestling. His “Flair For The Gold” segment? Good idea. He has a career in broadcasting and he should stick with it.
PATERNO: How about if Flair wins the World title?VICIOUS: How about it? It will never happen. Vader’s the man.
PETERS: How about Parker? A lot of people, myself included, thought you’d never have another manager after your bad experiences with the Horsemen and Harvey Wippleman. Why’d you go along with Parker?
[Vicious’ physique is ample testament to his incredible workout regimen. He says that his workouts now are more focused and productive than ever. He also seems more mature.]VICIOUS: Because he’s a smart man and he knows the sport. He made me a good offer, I looked it over, and I thought it was a good idea. Besides, there’s enough for a wrestler to worry about in this sport without worrying about the little details. If you ask me, every wrestler should have a manager. I'm surprised they all don’t look at boxers. They all have managers and trainers. Wrestling’s too tough to go it alone.
PATERNO: Can you trust Parker?VICIOUS: Can anyone trust anyone? There are always risks, and maybe I'm taking one, but it looks to me like the Colonel is out for my best interests, because they’re his best interests, too. It’s like any other sport. If I win, we’ll both be happy. If I lose, there'll be some changes.
PETERS: It sounds as if you're turning into a businessman.
VICIOUS: I am a businessman. Sports are business. And like all successful businessmen, I'm dead serious about what I'm doing. Let everyone else judge the risks of that.

Royal Rumble Marathon: 1992
The Royal Rumble marathon continues into 1992.
Spoilers for past Rumbles…
The undercard:
The Orient Express vs the New Foundation.
We see footage of the Mountie defeating Bret Hart. The commentators noted Bret wrestled with a high fever and is now out with the flu. I’m assuming Bret was sick as it would be an odd choice to change the title on a house show three days before Bret’s advertised match against the Mountie at the Royal Rumble. Roddy comes to Bret’s defense and will take his place against the now-champion Mountie.
The Mountie vs Roddy Piper. Roddy gets a huge reaction. Roddy wins his only WWF/E title when he defeats the Mountie.
The Bushwhackers (with Jamison) vs the Beverly Brothers (with the Genius). This re-watch marathon is bringing back memories of performers I haven’t thought of in decades. Jamison? That’s a blast from the past. If you’re too young to remember Jamison, think of a nerdy Rick Moreno type combined with a dash of the “Eugene” gimmick.
The Legion of Doom vs the Natural Disasters. Last year at the Rumble, Tugboat was helping Hogan fight Earthquake, now he calls himself Typhoon and has formed a tag team with Earthquake. I recommend the “Dark Side of the Ring” episode on Earthquake, it wasn’t “dark” per se but it was an interesting look at the man behind the gimmick. I never liked the Legion of Doom’s presentation in the WWF. The Road Warriors in the AWA/NWA were scary and intimidating. The team went to the WWF and their mystique/aura decreased by 75%.
Sean Mooney interviews a newly-turned Shawn Michaels with footage from the infamous Barbershop attack on Marty Janetty. The Rockers break-up has to be one of the all-time heel turns.
Hype vignettes before the Rumble: Flair, Savage, Sid Justice, Repo Man, Davey Boy, Jake Roberts, Undertaker, Hogan,
Marty Janetty and Nasty Boy Knobbs have lost their spots in the Royal Rumble due to injuries (though I think Janetty’s was in-storyline only as this took place a week after Shawn sent Marty through the barbershop window). Nikolai Volkoff and Haku will take their spots.
For the first time the Rumble has a point as this year the winner will become the WWF World heavyweight champion. If I remember correctly, the title was vacated/held up due to a Hogan/Undertaker storyline.
The entrants in order of appearance:
Davey Boy Smith
Ted DiBase (accompanied by Sherri Martel)
Ric Flair (accompanied by Mister Perfect)
Nasty Boy Sags
Haku
Shawn Michaels
“El Matador” Tito Santana (Such a lame gimmick for Tito)
The Barbarian
Kerry Von Erich
Repo Man (formerly known as Smash of Demolition) It’s a silly gimmick but I love it
Greg “The Hammer” Valentine
Nikolai Volkoff
Big Boss Man
Hercules
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper
Jake “the Snake” Roberts
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan
IRS (Mike Rotunda)
“Superfly” Jimmy Snuka
The Undertaker
“Macho Man” Randy Savage
The Berzerker (John Nord)
Virgil
Iron Sheik (referred to as Mustafa, accompanied by Adnan)
Rick “the Model” Martel
Hulk Hogan
Skinner (Steve Keirn)
Sgt Slaughter
Sid Justice
The Warlord (accompanied by Slick)
Flair wins the Rumble to become the new world champion. Hogan is the worst babyface ever – he has a hissy when Sid eliminates him from the Rumble, helps Flair eliminate Sid from the Rumble after his own elimination, and then chases Flair from the ring so he can’t celebrate his victory. Hogan continues to have a hissy at Sid. I never liked Hogan as a child and rewatching his storylines as an adult I can understand why all his “frends” eventually turn on him. He sucks!
Only the first two entrants received entrance music. Managers were allowed to accompany their charges to ringside but could not remain in the area (the WWF flip flops on whether managers could remain at ringside during the early years ).
First time Rumblers: Ric Flair, Nasty Boy Sags, IRS, Berzerker, Virgil, Skinner, Sid Justice
Highlights: Heenan having a panic attack the length of the Rumble over the possibility of Flair’s elimination, Flair’s performance, Savage accidentally eliminates himself but Taker throws him back in to continue in the Rumble. Flair sets a new endurance record for the Rumble
March to Wrestlemania: Hogan and Sid have their confrontation to set up their Wrestlemania match.
Wrestlers and others who have passed on: Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, Howard Finkel, Mr. Fuji, Owen Hart, Jim Neidhart (we have six deceased individual within 5 minutes of the event starting), Lord Alfred Hayes, Roddy Piper, “The Genius” Lanny Poffo, Bushwhacker Butch, the Legion of Doom, Earthquake, Mean Gene Okerlund, “Mister Perfect” Curt Henning, Paul Bearer, Jack Tunney, Davey Boy Smith, Sherri Martel, Kerry Von Erich, Nikolai Volkoff, Big Boss Man, Hercules, Jimmy Snuka, Joey Marella, Virgil, Iron Sheik, Adnan.
Total number of deceased performers: 28, passing the previous Rumble by seven.
Rating: 8 out of 10

Wrestlemania Main Event Reviews - Wrestlemania VIII
Hulk Hogan def. Sid Justice w/ Harvey Wippleman in 12:28
Technically, this show has a double main event but like does it really? No disrespect to Savage/Flair but it was not really given any distinction there. I would have put it on last though! Wippleman introduces Justice, then Fink introduces Hogan! The entrance way is vibrant this year! Beginning of Mania set design! Justice attacks as soon as Hogan gets in the ring, ducks down with a rope rebound but Hogan is ready and sends him to the outside. Real American does not stop playing throughout. Justice slowly gets back in the ring to start. Sid gets going with some vicious kicks and tries to tear Hogan’s face off. Menacing stuff from Sid! The exact same rope rebound spot happens! Sid looks dumb there! Back inside and Sid wants to lock up. Test of strength happens and the crowd wills on Hogan but Sid is too much! Hogan mounts the comeback though! This is very slow but Sid is still too strong once Hogan is on his feet. Knees in the corner. Hogan is able to hit a clothesline in the corner, but Wippleman on the apron allows Sid to hit a big chokeslam! Sid yells at the camera about doing unto the man what he would do unto you but doing it first. He laughs at this. Strikes to Hogan and he’s sent outside. Wippleman distracts Hebner while Sid uses Wippleman’s doctor’s bag as a weapon. Shoulder claw back in the ring for a long time. What is it with these matches and long uses of submission moves that don’t look great. Arm drop spot from a shoulder claw? Does that work? Hulking up but big side suplex from Sid. Big powerbomb but Hogan kicks out and Hulks up. Big boot but Sid stays up so powerslam! Leg drop and Sid kicks out! Wippleman gets in the ring, the bell is rung, Hogan picks him up immediately and throws him at Sid. Here comes Papa Shango who was meant to break up the pin off the leg drop but missed his cue. He stops running at one point because he realises he screwed up. Sid and Hogan brawl and then Shango joins the fight! Ultimate Warrior comes down to even the odds with a massive clothesline to the outside to Shango. Sid attacks with the chair but Hogan grabs it and the heels escape. Hogan is announced as the winner by DQ. What a mess but the crowd are enjoying the two faces in the ring! Hogan lifts up a Warrior sign from the crowd and Warrior does the Hogan poses for a bit.
Pros: Sid hits some big moves that looked good, action was pretty decent Cons: Run of the mill, Sid made to look dumb, REALLY botched finish, the actual DQ made no sense, maybe not the choice of main event.
This match was fine for the most part, but one of the infamously worst finishes ever hampered it further. Really nothing to say other than talk about the end, Shango missing his cue, Sid having to kick out, nonsense DQ (the bell rang on time as if Shango had done his bit!). Just a mess really with little in-ring to save it.
1 STAR OUT OF 5
