#Signature Assignment Prepared In Guyana

I completed about 10 signature assignments at NCU. One of those signature assignments was prepared from Georgetown, Guyana - the signature assignment on IKEA Operations (prepared for the Business Environment course). I traveled to Guyana five years ago after my ordeal in New York. I completed most of the assignments for the course in New York. Memory

I had an interesting memory item from Facebook today (the system selects/retrieves a past post based on today's date). The memory item reminded me of the concept map I prepared showing how concepts from my signature assignment on employee monitoring connect. I thought of a diagram because I had trouble staying within the word limit for a section of the paper.

#Reviews

My previous post (the post added earlier today) made me think of the first signature assignment I prepared at NCU, which was on online reviews. While preparing that signature assignment, I learned that a consumer review is considered more believable if it is balanced or neutral. One-sided reviews are not as believable. The analysis provided additional information on why a review may be one-sided. A review may be one-sided or biased because of the reviewer’s field of specialization, beliefs, or background/experiences. The motivation for some of the reviews seemed to be to contribute to the discussion or add their “two cents. The intent was not always clear. It is interesting that the concept map I prepared as a step towards the signature assignment – based on selected papers in the literature – did not provide much information on intent. I found an article (research) on the PhD experience. I did not know there was research on this.

Database course

I am reminded of database courses I completed at NCU. I learned a lot. I learned about data mining, OLAP, knowledge management, and data protection/loss.

For the database administration and management course, MIS 7002, I needed to prepare a signature assignment. It required me to prepare a 12-page organizational intelligence policy. I was proud of this assignment.

There was a paper on the knowledge and skills needed for specific database positions (by different database professionals or people who work with databases). I need to think about these issues for my situation.

One of the papers I prepared during the course was similar to a document I prepared on an audit project at Grant Thornton. I pulled together the federal and state regulations/rules, standards, and policies that pertain to data protection.

There was a presentation on data mining (https://youtu.be/H4crCeJegGY). I recall that I used my background to select data mining examples. Under-the-hood information on this assignment (in the course blog) reminded me that I prepared it in the computer lab for residents of my Gainesville apartment community (http://fmooredbadminmngtsiga.blogspot.com/2016/10/assignment-submitted.html). Posts and pictures in the blog bring back a lot of memories. I recall the cover photo / header picture that I designed for my social media accounts. Recommendation Systems

I first learned of recommendation systems during my first literature review course at NCU. The topic was online reviews and recommender systems were one type of system connected with online reviews. I included some information in my paper on these systems that made recommendations to users. I thought they added a lot of value (were very helpful and useful to the consumer). Today, I learned of recommendation systems for music. I found several papers on systems that use different approaches to recommend music to users. How interesting! I would like to personally test these systems.

Progress With Paper

I am still working on my paper on electronic hand hygiene compliance monitoring for publishing. I am finding a lot of recent research on the topic, i.e. research published since I completed my signature assignment (the assignment is available here: https://w.taskstream.com/ts/moore783/SignatureAssignmentProposalMonitoring.html/acf5e6eq00akfcfkf7e8edfefl). I decided to add some of the recent research to the paper. I also sent a draft to the professor who graded the signature assignment for review.

I am trying not to exert myself too much. Just recently, I was dealing with some serious health issues. A few days ago, my mother sent me this photo to remind me of my journey:

An entire piece on David Bowie that failed to mention his androgynous style and successful break from the male role stereotype, instead highlighting his accomplishments and valuing of fatherhood.

One page of People that actually breaks out of their rigid promotion of male stereotypes and highlights a softer, non-aggressive side of men such as Pierce Bronson.

A few articles in the magazines I analyzed which discuss certain men, paying absolutely no attention to what’s in their purse, how they dress, or how they accessorize. The same can’t be said for the women mentioned in these magazines, such as the late Queen of England.

Some magazine pages that promote reducing worth to physical appearance, even if that means needing intensive plastic surgery to feel better about oneself.

These highlight gender roles men are expected to fill stereotypically, such as: aggression, competition, financial success, and being heterosexual.

IKEA Paper Submitted For Publishing

I finally finished the IKEA paper and submitted it to a journal for publishing!

I also updated my author description:

Fahmeena Odetta Moore is currently working on publishing papers so she could graduate with a PhD from Northcentral University (ncu.edu). For courses completed thus far, she has completed papers on a variety of topics: Decision-making, Usability and Consumer Analytics, Innovation, Technology to Handle Employee Risk, Quality and Success, Videos, and Social Media. Ms. Moore's background includes master's degrees in Finance and Information Systems from US universities, a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Guyana, and success at A-Level Accounting, Pure Mathematics with Statistics and Economics examinations. Ms. Moore qualified for and attended top schools in Guyana.

Importance Of Changes

I noticed that change is an important part of the IKEA story. The company made a lot of changes to be competitive (mostly in response to the marketplace). I will look into.
