for @silmarilasta Day 21: Salmon! pretty sure this is a reference to the Silm being misspelled as “Salmon Riot” so I went for a crack-y concept. Meet Salmonáro Curufishwë, rabble-rouser of the Noldor! (Also, I can cross “floating Silmarils” off my Silm Artist Bingo Card......)

Silmarilasta - Day 1: Valinor

A day late, but ah well!

I don’t think I’ve ever tried writing alliterative verse before, and I had a good time with it! Here, have some sad Eärendil content.

Aiya Eärendil!

Aiya Eärendil elenion ancalima,

borne on black waves to the beaches jeweled

by the Noldor in days now passed into shadow –

beaches of the land where loss comes seldom,

land of a people who will live forever,

yet whose bliss is shadowed by two barren trees.

Hail Eärendil! O hope that was longed for

Herald of a people passed beyond reach,

our wandering kinsfolk who went into darkness

seeking the light that has brought you safely

out of death-shadow on the mortal shore –

the jewel on your brow that has borne you home.
