For those who have experienced this segment before - welcome back! For those who are new readers, or this is your first Silver Box Segment, this is a way for ForestClan to include the audience into the narrative. Rootgrove possibly holds answers that you do not have. Pry information from the beast, and give Shiverpaw the knowledge she needs to protect her Clan. A refresher on the ground rules:

You don’t need to use my ask box; replies will work too! The ask box just allows you to be anonymous. Keep in mind that if you use replies and your question is answered, you will be pinged on the response post!

Question segment SHOULD end in about a week, but with the influx of new readers since my first segment + upcomming Easter/Passover next week, I MAY have to extend it. Beware, however! Not all answers may be honest. Prior interactions revealed that the Silver Box answers with two voices - only one of them is Rootgrove, the other are the Deep Roots bound to him.

The questions you ask will determine the amount of knowledge Shiverpaw has in the narrative of ForestClan’s story. This might affect what decisions she can make in the future. Consider Shiverpaw a party member you’re trying to guide!

ADDITIONAL NOTE: I cannot promise every question will be answered, since I'm just one person managing everything. The last time I had the Silver Box segment, I was working from home and drew answers on my breaks, now I am in office and cannot, lol. OH MY GOD WAIT since pure vanilla and shadow milk are diff sides of the same coin, and so are white lily and silent salt, what if shadow milk and silent salt used to be friends but something happened between them like what happened between white lily and pure vanilla.

because when pure vanilla says he saw a glimpse of the past, it shows what appears to be a reflection of silent salt behind shadow milk. he wants to learn more about it, probably because it would give him more information about shadow milk's past that could possibly help him to redeem him.

maybe that's where shadow milk's whole problem with loneliness and friendship comes from. if he had something end badly with silent salt, of course he would be upset by pure vanilla insinuating he is lonely and needs a friend. one because of pv pointing that out, two because he would likely be afraid of another friendship after how things went last time.

OKAY SO- does sonic ever realize he screwed up when leaving patiya(probably spelled that wrong) behind? Does he ever acknowledge her? What would she do if he tried? Would tails stand in the way? Is Knuckles mad at sonic? Sorry for so many questions, I just found this AU recently and I am OBSESSED (in a healthy way). Love your art and I can't wait to see how this AU grows!

He absolutely does! In fact, he realizes pretty early on that he's screwing things up with Pitaya, but just doesn't know how to do right by her and is too prideful to ask for help. He figures he doesn't need to and that everything will turn out fine since Tails is already stepping in and helping... But now Tails is clearly mad at him too. It seems like no one's on his side anymore. This is why he eventually starts running off on adventures all the time with Ray and Mighty - they're the only two people he knows who aren't connected to this whole mess. This, too, is him avoiding the situation.

By the time he has Barb, his deepest regret is how he handled Pitaya. He wants to make amends, but he still doesn't know how. He hopes just being friendly to her will start bridging the gap, but she's responded coldly so far. He's not happy about it, but he won't force her to accept him. He just hopes she knows that he's there for her now if she ever needs him.

Tails doesn't get in the way of this, he actively avoids interacting or dealing with Sonic directly up until certain events (that y'all will see later!). If Sonic can figure out how to bond with Pitaya, that's fine by him.

And yes, Knuckles gets mad at him too, but only until they fully separate. When they don't have a little kid or co-parenting to argue over, he gets along with Sonic just fine. He even considers him a good friend still, up until the topic lands on Pitaya. Then it's a battle to the death again.

[GENERAL KNOWLEDGE SUMMARY]

Like all Deep Root entities, the monster is averse to fire and thunderstorms.

Rootgrove was comforted by simple questions that reminded him of being a cat. However, delving into positive memories of his life was more straining on his psyche.

The aggressive voice from the box is, indeed, the monster itself.

Rootgrove holds no affection for Chicoryglint, the former ForestClan medicine cat and Windfur's mentor. Neither does he know where she is.

Rootgrove still holds bitterness and anger towards Lakestar. He sees her as responsible for the way he is. He believes himself absolved of any possible crimes he tried to commit.

Both himself and the monster seem to prefer the name "Rootgrove" as opposed to anything else, but Shiverpaw has no intent on calling the monster anything but a monster.

The monster considers other Woodcrawlers its kin, and claims they "grow".

The nests of all Deep Root entities are called "Gardens", and they're described in a life-like manner.

The Woodcrawler either refuses to answer, or doesn't know, why Rootgrove is connected to it.

The monster's only motivation, is to satiate its hunger. Nothing more, nothing less. It cannot be reasoned with.

It seems to make attempts to conserve energy when starving - either making minimal effort to answer, or its mimicked words breaking down.

The excitement of the hunt seems to remove its energy conservation.

It has an eye. At least...you think it's an eye.
