Happy 77th Birthday, David Bowie! I’ve had a lot of fun working on this one. It started as just a silly idea and a good way to draw a lot of his costumes to practice textures. When I first started sketching, I hadn’t expected it to take over a year to complete, but I knew this one wasn’t to be rushed, but to be enjoyed to the fullest extent. I truly enjoyed studying photographs of each costume, both the beautiful detailed and well-lit pictures from the V&A museum exhibit, but also those captured over the years while the costumes were in use for performances, music videos, and movies. Every article of clothing here (even the ones in the basket (deep in the basket even!) and on David himself) are actual items worn throughout his career. I’m so super curious to see if anyone can name them all. I think my favorites to do were also the ones that were the hardest to capture, such as the Pierrot outfit on the far left and the Yamamoto piece in the center. - Weyoun 4/Kilana - Don’t get me wrong, here. I still love WeyEzri and EzLana, but these two have just been on my mind a lot, lately. There is just something very warm, perfect and tragic about them. 

- Carrie White/Ash Williams - This is a crackpairing that I think needs more love. It was born purely from my enjoyment of beneficial relationships, when two hurting people find comfort in each other. 

- Sam Emerson/Alan Frog - I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one, at first, but it’s really grown on me. I’m soft for a pair of nerds, who make significantly more ridiculous decisions together than apart, but still make each other happy.

How To Put Coloring Pages on Paper of Your Choice

Hi guys! This is the first tutorial from the David Bowie Coloring Book (DBCB)!

We get a lot of asks about how to move pages onto your own paper, or how to enjoy the blog if you don’t have access to digital media. Today, we’re gonna show you how Mod Silver does it!

So first, you need to pick lineart of your choice from the blog. The blog’s lineart is all free to use with permission already given by the artists who submit. This particular piece of lineart was drawn by @silvermoon822. This does not extend to the rest of the internet! Please ask artists before you use their lineart!

Pick your paper. Mod Silver likes to use Mixed Media paper or Bristol (smooth surface, not vellum). Watercolor paper, sketch or drawing paper works well too.

Mod Silver has a light-box. This is a relatively inexpensive tool that is very helpful when you need to transfer a drawing from low quality paper to somthing that can take a beating (such as drawing paper -> bristol or watercolor) or you need to transfer lineart that has been drawn on the computer to a more traditional medium. 

if you don’t have a light box, you can use a brightly lit window to get the same effect

First, place your lineart on the box and turn it on. make sure it is plugged in and safely done!

Next, place the paper of your choice on top and go over with a pencil. 

After you’ve finished, turn your box off or remove your paper from the window to make sure you haven’t missed any important lines (mod silver forgot his teeth when making this tutorial!).

And voila! You now have lineart to color, paint or ink!

This technique can be used to make coloring books for yourself, shrinky dinks, and many other fun crafts!

Remember! If you use any DBCB lineart, we only ask that you credit the original artist (the DBCB is not an artist, just a collection) and submit or tag the #davidbowiecoloringbook or #dbcb

OMG SAME. My dweeb is a big black cat that I adopted from the local human society after she was rescued from a hoarding situation of 64 black cats. My mom heard about her through a friend, my sister heard about her through that friend's daughter, and i found her on the website and we all came up to each other at the same time like "LOOOOK. WAIT THAT'S THE CAT I WAS GONNA SHOW YOU". We were the only family she actually reacted to at the shelter. I renamed her after the cat in sailor moon (cont)

(cont) bc the name she was given originally didn't fit. She's a HUGE black cat, and the previous owner had named her Whispy. There is NOTHING whispy about this cat lol. She INSTANTLY took to Luna and we're best buds. I knew she was my familiar bc we have this great emotional connection. She's just amazingly intuitive. She finds me whenever I listen to or play/sing witchy music and flicks her tail to the beat, and INSISTS on sitting by/on me when I'm working on magick stuff (end)
