you know nobody ever comes here on halloween. -donna! she literally gets jumpscared by kids knocking on her door on Halloween bc 1) she doesn't realize it's halloween and 2) she never has candy. sorry pump you're gettin death sticks for halloween

❝ I didn't. ❞ He might have never seen this lady until he decided to come to her doorstep, but he could already guess why nobody else did. ❝ When you don't have candy, you don't open the door! ❞ She had played it smart, though. Had she not opened the door, he would have hammered it in. Literally.

And here he thought only the church and that boarded-up house located in Skid's street were considered to be off-limits during Halloween night. Not like he had stopped visiting the latter after multiple threats. Nope! Somehow, after so many years in the trick-or-treating scene, he and his best friend had never set foot in The Cigarette Lady's, as he now was going to call her, doorstep. Until then, that is.

Credit where credit was due, at least she had handed Pump something: a box of cigarettes. Still sealed. Which he, understandably enough, would rather not have. He could not eat those! They smelled bad, and tasted even worse! Wait.

❝ And I might like burning stuff but-- ❞ After eyeing the red and white box for a moment, he simply rose it for the middle-aged lady to take back. ❝ --I don't want these, ma'am. ❞ But she probably did. ❝ They're all yours. ❞ Even past the doorway, it smelled like the word "flammable".

behind the puppet's mask, tiffany could surely sense a scowl on the teenager's face. once abandoned, now somehow worse off; stuffed into the rotting, stinking back room of a horror attraction, where idiots wouldn't watch their feet and would step horribly all over his vessel's fragile arms

(poor puppet, he thinks. it doesn't deserve that. still he's empathetic for the robot that gave him a second chance.)

once the clumsy workers leave, there goes tiffany piping up. again. somehow she had gotten scooped up with the fazbear's junk, along with some other miscellaneous "scary" things, and lucky for him (sarcasm) she was in a situation quite like his.

but she was way more smug about it.

"you know what, tiff?" he sits up, limp, floppy, decaying form still visibly angered. "and you'll never get what you want if you don't reach for the stars." with that, large plush hands wrap around the doll's body, and james is rising to his borrowed body's full height, and -- puts tiffany up on a tall shelf, one where she could not, easily, get down by herself, before laying back down in the same position he started in.

"there. got ya started. let's see chuck find you up there."
