honestly, i have moments when i'm like i don't know if i can keep going. and that's just based on just there's a lot of travel. it's a lot of traveling, it's a lot of time away, the sacrifices that people make in their careers. striking a balance between social life, family life and career being the best you can, can be something has to give and the other two, which are the most important, take a hit. i think about that often but then i get into the paddock and i get in the car and i'm like damn, i love this so much.
i definitely get the same buzz. i would say, in last year's car and this year's car, i get in with hype and then you get in and [you're] like damn it it's bouncing or you've got some sort of problem with the car so it's not as enjoyable to drive, for example, like the w8. but i can see myself being here still in 5 year's time or for the next 5 years. but it can change at any point. but i'm grateful for the support. i'm working hard to just stay focused, to make sure i'm on top of my game so then eventually when we do have the car we're where we're supposed to be. [i'm] still massively competitive, still training hard, and still massively focused - LH
he did it once, he can do it again. he's with people he trusts, people who love him and will help him with whatever he needs. he knows how to drive, he still has it in him, I have faith. he knows what he needs to do.
ABU DHABI 2018 -> SILVERSTONE 2023: Daniel Ricciardo talks to his race engineer, Simon Rennie, prior to his last race with Red Bull in 2018, and prior to his test runs for Pirelli in the RB19
"What started as a testing day in RB19 turned into a full F1 season return. Who’s ready for Daniel's first race back in Hungary?" | via @ redbullracing
just to add to my earlier point that Daniel wasn’t pressed to take the alpha tauri seat at such short notice and it was all planned at least a bit in advance….Alpha Tauri CEO Peter Bayer (top-left) was at his test also :)) so I think we can stop with the whole he doesn’t want this seat argument and just crack on
