Jesus doesn't take His followers for granite.

JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. In the full Bible story, Jesus asks His disciples a tough question: "Who am I?"  Simon answers by wholeheartedly declaring that Jesus is the Messiah.  Jesus tells Simon that this perfect answer was a truth revealed to him by God's grace, not by mankind.  Then He renames Simon, saying, "You are Peter (which means "rock"), and upon this rock, I will build My church.  I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.  What you bind and loose on earth shall be bound and loosed in heaven."  Later, in Matthew 18, all the disciples are given the "binding and loosing" power, but the imagery of the keys remains unique to Peter. 2. In this cartoon, Simon-Peter gives his epic answer and Jesus says, "Simon... you rock."  Based on the grammar, this could either mean, "Simon, you are a rock," or, "Simon, you are awesome," (because "you rock" is slang for "you're awesome").  Simon takes it as the latter and is quite elated by Jesus's praise, as anyone ought to be.

I just....love the idea of Peter walking on water being about grief and faith. It's such a beautiful take.

Because when you experience grief you are yelling about how much faith you have, screaming with rage about it because how could this happen when you have been so faithful?

And then you see the darkness and the sadness and the pain, just like how Peter saw the waves and the wind, and you cry out for the Lord because you're scared he's not there

Boycott the Chosen

We are a community of fans calling for likeminded others to boycott The Chosen as a result of the response (or lack thereof) to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine. We were all excited for the new season. Many of us were planning to attend theatre screenings of the premier. But we cannot support a show about the life of a revolutionary Palestinian man when its creators won't speak up for the Palestinian people. We are asking fans to

1. Boycott the series. This involves not attending theatre screenings, refunding tickets where possible, and not watching season four.

2. Delete The Chosen app

3. Donate to our fundraiser for Medical Aid Palestine. We are not expecting many donations, but every little helps

Approximately 1,200 Israelis were killed on October 7th. Since then, approximately 25, 000 Palestinians have been killed. If you as a Christian were disturbed by the violence on October 7th you should also be appalled by the ongoing violence against the innocent civilians of Palestine. If Jesus were alive in Palestine today he would be in the middle of a warzone, facing displacement, famine, and death. It is unconscionable to profit from the life of a Jewish Palestinian while ignoring the ongoing violence.

JOKE-OGRAPHY: Jesus calls Simon-Peter and his friends from their fishing to follow Him as disciples.  Jesus says, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men."  He means He will charge them with bringing more followers to the Faith, but in this cartoon, Simon-Peter is about to take Jesus's words literally.  For small fish, you catch them in a net.  For people-sized fish, you use something a little sharper.  Luckily, Jesus explains His meaning before Simon-Peter resolves to "catch" the merrily un-harpooned gentleman behind him.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is the first Tomics Resurrection of the year.  That's where I take an old comic of mine, knock it out with a dry iron, and drag its limp-but-hopefully-not-dead form into the (っ◔◡◔)っ˜”*°• 𝐅 𝐔 𝐓 𝐔 𝐑 𝐄 •°*”˜.
