the first half of the 1940s was, of course, dominated by world war two. just as with world war one, more women were involved in the war effort, and those who weren't often took the jobs dominated by men. icons such as rosie the riveter propagated a sort of idealized "tough girl" image, with her denim coveralls and clenched fists – yet red lips, defined lashes, and thin brows. she was just masculine enough to fit the mold of serving one's country, and still feminine enough for the general public to accept. once again, fabric rationing led to certain garments and styles being reused and revamped. some designers, like claire mccardell, worked within the confines of wool and silk rationing to create clothing made of denim and jersey knits. "ready-to-wear" clothing was becoming more popular, especially in the united states, allowing fashion trends to spread faster and further than before. at the end of the decade, christian dior debuted his "new look", which would set the stage for the iconic mid-century silhouette: cinched waists (thanks a lot, dior...), full skirts, and round shoulders. this "new look" emphasized the stereotypical ideal of femininity and ruled post-war fashion.

okay, maybe the tangent about claire mccardell wasn't that important, but i did just see a museum exhibit about her, so i wanted to include it.

(ps. i know 1942 isnt entirely accurate but it was a fit of inspiration, and it takes like 20 minutes to get my game open so i was not willing to exit when i already had two looks done)

🇬🇧 SWINGING SIXTIES

"Groovy, mod, colorful." (This song was legit stuck in my head the entire time I was creating these models.)

Unexpectedly, a 1960's-inspired lookbook! This one was something of a passion project. ( ‾́ ◡ ‾́ )

My main inspiration being this wonderful piece of artwork! You can see that for the "Cosmo-Corps Style" and "Psychedelic" outfits I had to get creative. ( ╥ω╥ )

For the Cosmo-Corps look I took inspo from this photo instead of following the artwork. (And yes I know the Psychedelic Sim sticks out like a sore thumb but shhh she's beautiful, let her have her anachronistic fun in the 60's.) As per usual, CC used on each look will be listed down below!

Recreate those miserable family gatherings you were forced to attend!

We have: A lawn chair, an aluminum frame and scratchy straps with 6 swatches. A matching lounge chair for pretending to be asleep so you don't have to speak to family members! A classic "Bug Zapper". This is actually a hanging light, and like the real thing, it won't keep bugs away! A citronella candle for the table. This one is just a small light, but real ones were supposedly toxic to bugs, and probably humans/pets, but be like my relatives and put it next to all the food on the table. Not kidding about that. An old school round BBQ grill! 6 swatches. A classic picnic table with 5 swatches A set of 3 grill tools with wood handles to match the grill. A deco lid for the grill - this will slot to the grill when not in use(use the MOO cheat!) A bag of Charcoal A cute kiddie pool! 6 colors and each color has 2-3 bottom prints. The slide is just for show, but it's cute. A functional cooler! This one is "always open" to show the vast array of retro drinks inside, unlike real life the ice is always full, and all the good sodas haven't been taken. Comes in 6 swatches to match the grill. A boombox! Play all your favorite tapes(I wish) with it! Or set it to the in-game retro station and be disappointed it's not actually 80's/90's music.

Christmas 2022 Peanuts Dolls

Snoopy Doll - 1 swatch (a note about this mesh - it is weird, and has the eye as a separate piece, which makes it look like it is sticking out in game as shown above. It looks normal in Sims4Studio. I tried to mess with it to fix it, but it’s a strange mesh. Feel free to look at it yourself if you’d like to fix it, in fact pls let me know if you figure it out, it’s bugging me! Note this is not a piece that needs transparency. it is a “hole” in one mesh, with another small square mesh piece to place in the area of the hole and is flush with the rest of the mesh.
