This is Connor Frio, who I made-over for a Pixelated Puddings challenge several months ago. I have decided to share him in the hope it will raise awareness of @sims3hasstoppedworking​‘s fundraising efforts so her mum can have a bit of dignity and comfort. 

Sadly, Ewa’s mum has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and is very ill. You can read her post HERE (which has a link to her Paypal) and if you click the link to the Crowdfunding site you can see that she has provided the appropriate documentation to prove credibility of her situation. If you check her blog you will also see that it is more or less a relentless list of hospital admissions and prescriptions and posts about how Ewa and her mum are repeatedly let down by the brutal Polish health system.

Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 💜

The file size is large because I have zipped the Sim File, Sims3pack and a package version together so you need to open it and choose the version you want. Ewa, aka @sims3hasstoppedworking, has graciously allowed me to recreate her sim, Xal, and I decided to make this mini comic to hopefully bring some joy, but more importantly, to help raise awareness for the fundraising Ewa is doing for her mother who is terminally ill with cervical cancer.

Ewa is an incredibly kind and supportive friend who has made being part of the Simblr community so enjoyable - and not just for me, but countless others as well.

She is taking care of her mother full-time, despite struggling with her own health issues, and they need help with the cost of medical supplies. It has been incredibly difficult to get the care and support her mother needs from the Polish healthcare system.

Ewa needs to buy things such as urine bags, cream for pressure sores, various medications, ambulance transports, etc. You can find an extensive list of recent purchases HERE. (Ewa posts general updates on her mom, medical & prescription documents, as well as receipts & photos of her purchases so that you can see exactly what you’re helping them with)

Currently, Ewa has raised over 14,000 Polish Złoty (PLN) with a goal of 20,000 PLN. The goal is 71% complete!

Here’s a few ways you can help Ewa and her mother:

1.) Donate to Ewa’s PayPal or Polish Crowd Funding Site. A little goes a long way, and anything helps! For example: 5 US Dollars is 19.16 PLN. (some other countries have similar conversion rates)

5 PLN can buy 2 urine bags. 10 PLN can buy a months worth of Bisoprolol tablets. 7 PLN can buy 1 small nutrition meal or 1 pack of probiotics. 15 PLN can buy 2 packs of wet wipes. 20 PLN can buy 1 pack of Simeticon capsules, etc, etc.

2.) Reblog Ewa’s post about her mother’s situation to help spread the word

3.) Reblog this mini comic or any of the amazing TS3 CC that has been made for Ewa by other fellow simmers to help spread the word

4.) Send Ewa and her mother a message of love, support, encouragement, or even a gif to make them smile - they would really enjoy hearing from you, and the support they’re received has helped them keep going!

The nice to know:

This lot was made for 3-48 Landgraab Avenue in Boroughsburg, but of course it can be placed anywhere. There are 4 floors, the playable space is on second floor. A small office at ground floor is open for business. The basement offers room for all sorts of things.

The lot is set up as apartment building, for playability reasons the doors to the other apartments are not set as NPC doors. If you want to change anything outside the playable unit you will need to enter the cheat RestrictBuildBuyInBuildings off.

REPLIES TO VIOLET’S VEXATION & SAOIRSE’S STRESS

She's not just asking her to leave Roy though. What about the 4 kids who adore their dad? Violet might not be filthy rich like Roy, but her life is not as tangled up.

That’s true. It’s not quite that black and white. As with most things, there is a lot of grey area. It occurred to me though as I was typing this that Sonia likes to inhabit the grey areas. It absolves her from having to confront a lot of truths.

No one is really big on communication up front in this story. Violet's 'made a mistake' after the event? What did she expect? Did they lay down some ground rules or talk before hand? I hope Sonia (finally) comes to her senses.

Violet was unprepared for the intensity of her feelings towards Sonia after they did the deed and does not want to be a side chick. But she also cannot shake her conviction that Sonia is only with Roy because he is a) wealthy b) dangerous.

I must agree with the comments above. And bringing up Claire is a bit unfair. Also Claire was ready to provide and coparent the ONE! unborn child of Sonia. Does Violet ready to do the same for FOUR! groun kids who have a particular life standard? What if Roy is the major D she thinks of him to be and throws them all out in the street? Of course he will never do this, but you have to be ready to suggest options when throwing such grand statements at someone.

Violet only brought up Claire to illustrate her fears and reservations about Roy, and about being made a target by him. One of the reasons she doesn’t want to fall in love with Sonia is that Roy still scares her. She is also angry and frustrated because she feels that Sonia is living a lie. I think she would love to be a second mother to the kids though. She adores children. She is also a bit of a hippy earth-mother type. (remember the 70s bush?:P)

I try to understand Violet but it's not that easy for Sonia to just leave Roy. He's father of her children, they've been through a lot. It's hard to leave everything.

Very true. It’s always a difficult situation, but I also think people underestimate how perceptive and resilient children are. Children know instinctively when their parents aren’t happy, even when the parents are smiling their fake smiles and pretending that everything is fine. Also Roy won’t be going any where, even if he and Sonia divorce. His kids are everything to him.

I can’t help but wonder if she might see Roy with his multiple children as a solution to her “trying very hard” to have kids. Or maybe I’m reading more than you meant with those statements. Either way, I love your writing!

She might later, but it isn’t part of her motivation at the moment. (OOC:  The main reason she doesn’t have kids is that I realised readers would be unable to forgive her for leaving them to be with Roy, and I wanted readers to be able to empathise with her at least a little bit!) Thank you for the lovely words!

I don't know, I'm totally happy with my partner but if someone from my past showed up and declared I was the love of their life - and somehow I was unable to run very fast in the opposite direction, which would be my first inclination then I'm sure I'd lose sleep and peace of mind, too. It wouldn't even be a question of leaving my partner, but a thing like that would definitely be disturbing.

Let’s talk about jagged edges after last Nvidia updates lmao. I noticed that recently AA stopped working in my game, I checked ssttings for sims 3 in Nvidia control panel and they were as they should. I had Edge Smoothing in game turned off. I tried to turn it on - no change. I turned AA off and Edge Smoothing in game on - no change. Any advice? :p

I thought I was the only one! OMG! Besides my settings resetting every other day, it’s so annoying. I have this expensive graphics card that should be blowing my mind instead...

 It looks like garbage. I have no idea what to do. I was just talking to @desiree-uk to make sure my settings were correct and at this point I have no solution. If I come up with anything I’ll let you know. 

Anyone else know what to do or what’s going on? Really don’t want to go back to ReShade. Like really do not want. blah!

Can you recommend super sweet white wine? I'm not gonna lie, I'm a wine newbie and I just enjoy sweet alcohols in general :)

I would recommend a riesling from Mosel, Germany. Preferably a kabinett. We have a really good one at work: 

Bee Blauschiefer Riesling Kabinett Feinherb 2016

Also, if you want to venture into red wines of the sweeter varietal - try a California Zinfandel, which is often ripe jammy fruits. Let’s also not forget rosé, my faves are from France, namely Provence and Rhone.

I made these back in June as a private birthday gift for Sims3hasstoppedworking as I thought they would fit well in the home of her legacy of “The Failures”. However, she never got the chance to put them in her game because things have changed a lot since then... her mother is terminally ill with cancer. 

Ewa made a post about it because she needs help raising some of money for both essential things like medication and additional things like nutrition drinks, a mattress, supplements etc that will make her mum more comfortable, as the Polish health system is brutal.

I know things are pretty dire on here with all of the changes Tumblr wants to make and people are angry and distracted. I just want to try to help my friend make her mum more comfortable, so any donation (no matter how small) is appreciated.

My in-game weddings never look this good, so I've given up and just have private weddings now.

I’ve done so many of them now, I pretty much know what to expect and how to make things go well! But it does take some practice. I hardly ever do the private wedding thing - the first marriage in Glenvale was Max & Whitney McDermott and I just had them go to the City Hall, invited Max’s parents over using MC, and then had them get married in front of the arch I have in the judge’s office. They didn’t get a formal wedding but at least it was something. ;)

I usually have my couple socialize with the guests more than I did this time but it all worked out OK. Maybe sims stayed because I had Mason open a tab on the bar. XD
