We understand the term" All rights reserved " to indicate a copyright formality. It’s often used as a way to show that the owner holds rights provided by the copyright law and others can’t use that work without seeking permission from the owner. Wouldn’t it be something if single Christians were to follow this same thought or principle? Shouldn’t someone who is interested in us seek God’s permission prior to trying to talk to us? Completely Complete

I’ve been wrestling with the idea of ‘singleness’ as God calls me to navigate the Christian way of going throughout this season. Even calling it that, a “season”, is exactly why I’m so excited to have received the revelation I did this morning. Our world has created such a stigma around being single. Our world continuously points to marriage as some kind of thing we all should long for. The culture we live in idolizes it. Let’s just be real about it!! So many of us (myself included) get lost in this hope and dream of our lives “once we’re married.” As if we don’t have anything else to live for.. As if that’s the only reason we’re put on earth.. 

I don’t know about y’all.. but I think that’s EXHAUSTING.

Constantly waking up everyday in the headspace that you aren’t complete until that glorious day of marriage... or even the glorious day where you'll find that someone who “completes” you. 

YUCK FAM. 

Why is this a lifestyle we lean into? Why is this something we live by?

One of the most beautiful revelations of freedom God has shown me just this week is how totally and completely COMPLETE I am because I get to live in His Will. Not tomorrow, not someday, not once I meet hubby, but RIGHT NOW. I am totally complete because God says I am. RIGHT NOW.

This totally wipes out the pressure of NEEDING to find someone by a certain age in your life. HECK this totally wipes out the pressure of ever needing to find someone!! I know, I sound crazy. And I know that so many people want to tune out now because that's such a hope and dream of so many! I get it!! It’s one of mine too! And I’m not saying that’s not a hope and dream of mine! I totally believe that’s God’s promise to me! And YOU! But there’s SO MUCH FREEDOM in knowing that’s NOT YOUR IDENTITY. 

You are not made complete by who you end up marrying. You are made complete, right now, because Jesus died on the cross for your COMPLETE and TOTAL transformation. God loves you RIGHT NOW. Not when you find your hubby or wifey. God loves you 100% right now! 

Your identity is God’s UNCONDITIONAL LOVE for you. There is nothing you can do to separate God’s love from you. He will never love you any less or any more. He won’t love you more once you find your dude.. He loves you completely, RIGHT NOW. He isn’t going to think more of you once you marry that perfect wifey. It’s not by works, guys! 

We get to be full in who God says we are every day. We get to wake up and walk in God’s Will and Purpose and be crazy in love with the person God’s made you to be. Our ‘waiting’ doesn’t need to be a ‘waiting game.’ We should throw that word out of our vocabulary when it comes to that. It’s not waiting. Every day in ‘singleness’ is not punishment, it’s a gift. We get to be exactly where God has us. As we lean into whatever God has for us, and lean into expectancy over expectation, we get to see every single day as a new opportunity to live for God. We get to live life in God’s Will, not our own. That life is so much more fulfilling and meaningful than anything else. We just get to be an even better version of ourselves than the day before. Wholly and Complete exactly where we are.

Beloved, Day 2: Single as a Pringle

Today’s message was good, though the Pringle thing ventured a little too far in. The point came across, we are made for community. And it goes along with one of my books I’m reading right now: Captivating. 

As a woman, I’m more of the dominant kind that Stasi and John talk about in their book. I can do it all myself. I don’t need any help. I try to do things alone so I don’t seem vulnerable because, if I’m not vulnerable then I will not be hurt. But that will never make us happy, as women, we yearn to be in relationships. Not just romantic but friendships and family relationships, as well. 

The question today was: What ways have you felt alone, isolated, or inadequate? And, what triggers this?

I feel alone when I’m made fun of. When I’m not pursued by someone I want to be pursued by. I feel alone when I feel ashamed. Sometimes the triggers are bad days, when I feel like I have nobody to talk to. I feel like I come home and all i have is, well, myself. and that gets so lonely sometimes.

I feel like, even in my friendships, I’m alone. Like I’m unheard. I get triggered by being ignored or when I feel like my feelings aren’t being considered. I feel isolated when I am at home for too long, or am broke and can’t go out. Though, I feel alone when I’m out and feel unseen. When I feel like my beauty isn’t being unveiled or appreciated.

However, Jordan is right. We are not alone. This is something I’m learning and, believe it or not, I am starting to feel. I feel that God is here, walking with me. I’m understanding why I feel the way I do. Why I feel unheard, not enough, not worth to be pursuing... And I have to say, going to God when you feel alone is the only thing that can truly fill our hearts. The guy that always responds is nice, he’s sweet, but he doesn’t love us like our God loves us. No one will. And, until we seek redemption and love from our God... We will never receive it the way we want from any man or friend. We must go to him first, seek him, love him, and let him free us from our never ending want. If we don’t, we will always seek temporary fillers. God gave us a family in Him, we are not alone. Stop refusing his love. It is everywhere in so many ways. Do not ignore it.

Shoot, I want the marriage, the kids, and the picket fence; HOWEVER, we can't be so consumed with "finding him" that we forget HIM...Jesus Christ. He should be our main focus & he should get even more of our attention. I struggle with this a great deal, but it's time we get our priorities straight!
