something has been. bothering me about Canis. it’s stupid and irrelevant but… why does he get younger when he turns into the Wolf. Like we know the Wolf doesn’t just HAVE brown fur because we see it with red fur AND see it actually age, so it’s something else. Is it because… the Wolf has a specific age that’s distinct from Canis? Why?! it’s a spirit. why would it have an age at all??? Does it just turn you into the strongest healthiest version of yourself??? Are microscopic pixies zooming in really quickly to dye his hair every time he transforms???

fill for day 15 of the sg summer drabble and sketch prompts! Damsel in Distress:

The thing Puck has trouble remembering is that Sabrina kicks butt. He's still got this picture if a twelve-year-old Sabrina jumping into things without thinking, as Sabrina who can fight, but not well enough to save herself from all this. It's hard for him to remember how much she's changed in the past several years—especially since he was gone for so much of it, and didn't get to watch it happen. He understands how Henry felt, now. Puck decides from this that the best thing he can do is give Sabrina the freedom to do it herself, instead of protecting the girl she used to be.

That doesn’t make this situation any less mortifying. He’s tied up, stuck in human form because [reasons], hanging upside-down from one ankle, spinning slowly, while Sabrina stabs and slashes her way past the [monsters] between them. He can’t even really watch what’s happening, because he keeps twisting until she’s out of sight.

“You ah,” Sabrina says, and she sounds smug, even through her heaving breaths. “You look a little tied up there. Need a hand?”

“I’m good,” Puck says. “Heroes like me can get themselves out of stuff like this all on their own.”

“You don’t seem too much like a hero right now,” Sabrina smirks. She grabs him by the ankle so he stops spinning. “I think that’s me.” Her grin widens. “In fact, I think right now you’re the damsel.”

“I will kill you,” Puck says.

“Good luck.” Sabrina snorts, and lets him go. He starts spinning again.

Sabrina waits for several seconds, leaving him hanging, before Puck gives in. “Okay, fine.”

“Say it,” Sabrina says.

Puck glares at her, then at the wall, then, after a long, slow spin, at her again. “Say what?”

“That you’re the damsel.”

“What? Hell no!”

“Fine.” Sabrina turns.

“You’re the hero this time, isn’t that enough?” Puck demands.

Sabrina says nothing.

“I’mthedamsel,” Puck mutters under his breath.

Sabrina turns back, then and finally, finally, lets him down.

Why is the frog prince in the Sisters Grimm books described as having scales when frogs don’t HAVE scales? Also why is the Beast prominently always in beast form?

sooo does anyone have any predictions for the sisters grimm amazon prime series that’s apparently happening? I think they’re probably gonna remove some of puck’s sexism in order to make him more sympathetic. the whole thing with the little mermaid being fat will also likely be removed (at least I hope)

Day Ten: I Know Your True Name

I will HAVE to provide justifications for some of these so all of them get em

The Wolf

I considered not putting the Wolf here, but then an apparition of my childhood self materialized and stared at me with profound judgement. I like the Wolf because it’s one of the most straightforward characters in the series, and it’s involved in some of the best character moments as well. It drives SO MUCH of the plot without even being there, and when it does show up it’s so entertaining! Best quotes methinks

2. Sabrina

Sabrina is an EXCELLENT character stuck in a cyclic story with no actual acknowledgment of her true inner conflict. She’s fundamentally a good kid, but is put in TERRIBLE situations that constantly traumatize her while DEMANDING her best behavior, and she’s eleven years old. I care her!!! I really appreciate how a lot of us agree she is good even if she didn’t always act that way, and deserves better than what she got.

3. Baba Yaga

look what do you want from me. she’s cool. an icon, persay. I like characters that throw other characters off their rhythm and force them to acknowledge what they ACTUALLY prioritize and fear. She also has some great quotes, and I just think it’s funny how she trapped everyone in Ferryport Landing but is SO scary nobody gives her crap about it. we’re told it took THIRTY EVERAFTERS to kill her in the bad future. GIRLBOSS

4. Red

she’s so brave and I love how she was so warm towards Sabrina and the Grimms even tho it must have been a scary situation for her. She might have actually been MORE heroic than Sabrina in the last book because she INTENTIONALLY sacrificed herself to a dangerous magical entity, just to save someone she’d known for like… a few months. I wish she hadn’t had to do that, but things would have likely been way worse if she hadn’t. She’s good and sweet and also a really interesting character.

5. Mr. Canis

I have complicated feelings about him. He has these moments of kindness and insight, but a lot of the time it feels like he prioritizes the wrong things. As a kid i liked how he took responsibility for his anger and seemed to at least partly see Sabrina for who she really was (an intelligent but scared child trying to defend herself). I think his core of always stepping in to protect a child should have gotten more focus than his self-and-externally destructive side.
