I saw a post about someone talking about how terrible it actually is for them to be met with surprise by a doctor because people joke about the fun in shocking doctors.

I didn’t want to derail their important post but it made me think about how this works with therapy and my experience.

I’ve heard from people how validating it must feel if a therapist is shocked by what you’ve been through or gets really emotional, and I think it can be. And it has for me. But then it’s sat with me. Having a therapist tell me they’ve never heard such a terrible thing being done to someone felt so validating but then I went home and thought about it and it led to why me? What had I done? Was there something wrong with me? It was so jarring and embarrassing. I couldn’t see the therapist anymore because I suddenly felt so ashamed. So ashamed that there must be something wrong with me and surely they would see that too upon reflection.

This isn’t a post to argue or talk about what’s harder. It really isn’t. I don’t think you can compare. It’s just me thinking about my experiences and how I think the grass does usually look greener (for me, I feel like I’d feel better if my experience was “more common” but the truth is, I would feel invalid for that too. It’s just a thing.)

didn’t figure out i was autistic at all until my 30s. why? well in a funny twist of what some might call irony but probably isn’t: one of my main special interests since childhood... people. behavior. how folks feel vs how they behave, why they do things, what motivates them. i became a “peacemaker” type as a kid because i could observe an argument between two people and fairly accurately guess how each felt and was able to kind of... do some emotional translation for both of them to help them find an understanding. and BECAUSE of this, people were like “you’re wise/good with people/etc” and for years people also said “that means you’re not autistic, because autism means not being good at socializing”

but like. i’m not? i’m OKAY at socializing. but since childhood i’ve found a lot more success in just being the observer. WATCHING people, paying extremely close attention, that’s what i was good at. i learned early to never TELL people outright i was doing that, people get weird when you say you’re observant and have noticed their behavior/emotions/etc

I don’t regret this being a special interest of mine. It’s been an uphill battle since my 20s to figure out how to be a PART of all that socialization? (and i still feel like i constantly fuck it up, translating the neurotypical habits mid-conversation is much harder than observing it as an outsider and having more time to process it) But... I like that I’m an observer. I like that I can see the clear causes and effects of emotions that people have, their experiences, how it can all bleed together? I like it. I’m glad my childhood brain decided to latch onto the concept of People and humanity in general. It can get frustrating sometimes feeling like the only one in a group of people trying to be considerate of what the others are going through but... I still wouldn’t give that up. I’m glad I’m weird about humans. They’re pretty great actually.

A Gift, A Curse by @elemit - This updates daily most of the time, the author is getting busy IRL but it should be back on a daily update again soon I think. This is one of the darker theme of Ascendant Astarion "50 shades of 'FCKNG LITTLE TWAT' Ancunin" as one of the comment says haha some scenes are "traumatic" but the rollercoaster ride of emotions you'll get on this story is one for the books! ONGOING!

Fangs and Fractured Hearts - by @fangsandfracturedhearts - This one's one of the softer sides of the Ascendant, the dynamic of Tav and Astarion here is exquisite! The cliffhanger on this one just uggghhhhh. i love it!! ONGOING!

Hellish Rebuke by @bluedaze - this one's a classic! the details on this story is so genius I swear. Also I think a lot of Astarion fanfic writers got inspired with the Devil's dealing here. Also Tav here is effing smart and just chef's kiss! such a great heroine! ONGOING!

His Star - His Queen [Originally titled Across Stars and Time] by ARandomIntrovert - Now this a bit different, What if multiverse exists? Now there's two Astarions fighting over you, Spawn VS Ascendant, where do you think this would go? :)) Story's definitely amazing and unique! I easily got invested. haha ONGOING!

In Another Life by @locallegume - Definitely a softer side of the Ascendant but Tav and Astarion's dynamic here is one of my fave! <3 Tav here is not the overly good role model we usually read, she's troubled too and definitely has effed up issues. but sometimes you just need to find your own freak and be together forever. ONGOING!

Pieces Still Stuck In Your Teeth - by @howlsmovinglibrary / @wetcatspellcaster - The amount of Banter and D&D Lore on this one is superb! you have to watch out for the writer's notes! I love how I get to learn more D&D stuff and godssss how many times I almost got so swayed by the Ascendant here! good thing Tav's so good at bantering haha ONGOING!

Whither is thy beloved gone? by @brabblesblog - It has a sequel!!! - that's how good it is! <3 also The Ascendant here is my favorite! The confrontations are just so real and so true I caaaaan't. He wrote the Ascendant so good I actually sided with him more than Tav! A lot of smut ngl but I got into the characters more that I should have. you're missing out if you haven't read this. COMPLETED!

Remember ye not the former things by @brabblesblog - THE SEQUEL!! It focuses more on the aftermath and them working out their relationship, a lot more TAV bg story but gods, Astarion here , I just want to smother him with cuddles and kisses, TAKE MEEEEE ONGOING!

Most of these are still ongoing but I am updated w/ each, along with other Spawn Astarion fics :)) They are all good! some more soft than the others, some darker and evil :))

Since I feel like the only thing I’ve done so far in regards to Bridgerton is rant about it and I do genuinely love it and I am excited for season three so I want to talk about some of my favorite scenes.

The first scene I want to talk about is the one in which I personally fell in love with Colin Bridgerton. In the very first episode, we very quickly see that Penelope is in love with Colin, but the love is unrequited. I feel like unrequited love is such a sticky trope and it’s so easy to mess up and make the object of desire pretty horrible. I actually think the choice to make Colin unaware of Penelope’s feelings is what makes him so endearing. It never feels like he’s taking advantage of her feelings or trying to use them.

You learn very quickly in this scene that Colin is quite fond of Penelope. He lights up when he sees her, even though he’s actually looking for Marina. They are interrupted by Cressida who tries to steal Colin away while also spilling a drink on Penelope.

Colin witnesses this and asks Penelope to dance with him instead. Colin is very sweet in this moment and you can understand why Penelope feels the way she does about him. when I watch the scene for the first time, I was completely unaware of the books and it very much told me that they were end game. While this is very much a moment where Colin is helping Penelope, the thing that is most striking to me is that he is genuinely enjoying himself.

I think this scene sets up their dynamic so well. Yes Colin does not have romantic feelings for Penelope, but it’s very clear that he genuinely cares for her and just enjoys her as a person.  that scene does not come across as him doing her a favor, or an obligation of any sort. It feels very organic and like they are just having fun together like they’ve done so many other times. obviously a lot of this is because of the chemistry between Nicola and Luke, which I can write entire essay about but it’s such a wonderful starting point, and I was completely invested in the relationship from the very first episode

my absolute favorite thing about the finale of Percy Jackson was how Luke explained the dynamic of the demi gods and the god's to Percy through Annabeths fear of spiders, and how he compared how dangerous being tiny and threatening is when God's can squish you whenever they want.

it was literally perfect and summarized something that the books never quite put to words.

the God's literally vote on KILLING Percy in the 3rd book because he was so powerful and they were AFRAID of what he'd do in the future. yet they needed him to solve all their issues for like every book because they couldn't interfere. Olympus would have fallen if it weren't for him, but they almost squished him like a bug because he was a POSSIBLE threat to them.

literal perfect analogy and such an important part of the entire plot of the first 5 books all wrapped up into one line.

percy: young, powerful, can destroy states, can hold up skies, loyal to a T and would never betray his father, has saved the world countless of times just because he's a good little demigod, has basically died multiple times just to save Olympus

the god's: I don't trust him let's kill him just to be sure

Do you ever just stop mid scroll with the sudden realization that we have this trash fire of a site literally chock full of amazing talented kind silly people just doing their thing and sharing their things with each other???

Like, we have art, we have writing, we have witches, we have crafting, animation, gifs, fandoms, vines/TikTok’s, and infinite more things, this site has so much amazing, all just here for us to absorb and share with each other!

And on top of all that, sometimes you make neat connections with strangers who aren’t strangers for long!

I just…I just think that’s neat

What I wouldn't give to have S3 cold open on the first special with a flashback of the Wittebros before we ever find out how the Hexsquad are doing, no recap or anything just Caleb and Philip as children playing or something like that.

It was such punchy storytelling in gravity falls when they started tale of two stans that way, I'd love to see at least one of the specials begin like that!

It is really funny to me to think of Life Series as like, the hermits and friends LARPing together. Like, they don't get enough violence in their day-to-day relationships, so they just go off to a different server to get all the bloodlust out and act out dramatic storylines while they're at it

For the past 4 days I have been animating for the first time (ever) in blender, and I also created my very first mesh from scratch (the lamp)! I'm going to try making a chair mesh myself as well (the one in the image is from the basegame I believe).

I will probably share my little animation here in the near future when it's done, and when I'm back home I'll see if I can manage making this lamp a functional ts2 lamp.

.... if I still remember how to use SimPE and milkshape that is haha... though I have a vague memory of downloading a similiar lamp from somewhere? so perhaps it's not worth the trouble 🥴

So I was reading this blog post/article about adrenaline rushes and bipolar disorder after reading @moonbiine and @stillfrownyclownlol's posts about Aiden having BPD and the author was talking about their latest adrenaline rush.

Essentially they were doing the Edge Walk at the CN Tower, in Toronto, ON. When they got down, they said the adrenaline rush was amazing and that they couldn't stop smiling afterwards. It didn't feel like hypomania and they realized for the first time that they feeling something besides pain and depression. That felt like a person.

They realized it was kinda depressing that it took hanging so high in the air and putting themself in danger to actually feel that way.

But to a little kid, feeling like that, riding that high after feeling like shit for so long? It's no wonder that Aiden became an adrenaline junkie.

Every time we see little Aiden, he looks miserable and depressed.

So maybe one day, his parents decided to take him to do something super exciting to try and cheer him up. And then he felt that rush of adrenaline, the pride of accomplishing such a dangerous task and he was hooked.

His parents were probably glad he started to smile and pick up new hobbies, even if each one seemed more dangerous than the last. So they indulged him. Let him do what he wanted as long as he was happy.

I mean, why else would he be able to do all these things when he would permission/supervision from his parents for like half since he's 15-16 years old?

Although, Red recently said that she did write him with ADHD in mind and a lot of articles said that, "People with ADHD may compulsively seek high-dopamine activities and stimuli to achieve a dopamine rush, so people with ADHD may be more likely to engage in impulsive and risky behaviours. An individual may seek any situation that incites a strong burst of dopamine in the brain. 

People with ADHD may describe themselves as adrenaline lovers, never satisfied, and always seeking what is out of reach." Or something along the same lines.

Either way, him having bipolar disorder, BPD or ADHD is really cool and I'd love to see more people talking about it.

I was explaining all the relationships between SG-1 to my 13yo cousin last night and I think I did a pretty good job at it, this is what I told her:

Jack and Teal'c are best friends

Jack and Sam have a crush on each other but can't do anything about it since they're both in the military together

Daniel and Sam are best friends

And Jack and Daniel... they're like family, so they love each other but they also hate each other SO much

And I adore each and every one of them ^_^

The Savannah Summit:

First things first, major kudos to Makuu for actually being responsible and caring about what’s best for his float

You really can’t blame Kion and everyone else to be super skeptical about Makuu. I know he changed for the better, but he’s done…a lot since he beat Pua

“but to invite him to the Savannah Summit? With all these other peaceful animals?”—I hate to break it to you, Kion, but just bc an animal is an herbivore doesn’t mean they’re peaceful and friendly. If anything, it means survivor

Crocs at the Summit worked with Pua cuz everybody loves him 😎

“Makuu has more enemies than friends!”—So does Bunga lmao

The song is great. I love how everyone seems annoyed at first but near the end, it’s all 🎶Kumbaya, my lord! 🎶. Except Makuu…dude looks like he’s lowkey regretting his life choices he did NOT ask for a bs song

I’m totally on Makuu’s side. He was genuinely trying to be civil here, especially when it comes to Bupu

At least Beshte was trying to be the mediator cuz he looks at Makuu AND Bupu, Kion was just being kinda speciesist

Vuruga Vuruga saying “buffalo eat whatever we want” is actually pretty accurate. They, like other animals, don’t care. I read that buffalo will occasionally eat insects if it were an option. Even Twiga could sucking on a bone if she wanted to. Seriously, look it up

If Zazu had a nickel for every time a rhino used him as a chair, he’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice (great nod to the OG movie)

I remember Athena P criticizing Simba for blaming Kion about ruining the Summit after Makuu understandably leaves and I agree. Wtf Simba he’s 10. Go easy on him, come on 😭

The part that irks me the most is that when Mufasa asks “What has Makuu done to make you think this way?”, Kion says “Nothing, really”. BRO WHAT DO YOU MEAN ‘NOTHING REALLY’?! I understand Mufasa meant what Makuu has done today but there are a LOT of things Makuu’s done in the past that Kion should have told his grandpa. In fact, here’s a whole list:

-Taking over Big Springs when he became leader, resulting in all the animals to scatter

-Challenging kids to fight

-Taking over the flood plains

-Trying to eat Basi which would have been just him being a crocodile if not for the fact that the reason is so he wouldn’t have to follow any rules (says so on the wiki)

-TAKING NALA HOSTAGE (seriously did Simba even KNOW about that? Did Nala or Kion bother to tell him?)

-Generally being a dick to animals

Makuu I know you did nothing wrong in this episode, but you can’t blame Kion for acting this way

I’m not placing any blame on Mtoto. He’s a good boy and all he did was tell the guard what he heard and that’s it

Twiga and Vuruga Vuruga coming up with the trap doesn’t surprise me. Cape buffalo are actually really vengeful irl so it makes sense how she wanted to teach Makuu a lesson. They ain’t called “Black Death” or “Widow Maker” for nothing

It’s cool how Makuu took the prank well. Respect.

Crocs really DO need a lot of water, otherwise their lives are on the line. Makuu was really more concerned than upset

Side hc: I like to think something similar happened with Pua, Piga, and Kujivunia. Pua saw Piga antagonizing some poor young animal and he was all “Piga! What in the Pridelands do you think you’re doing?” and Kujivunia (who happened to be there), with her typical sarcasm was like “Performing a dance number, Pua 🙄”
