My entry to my local library's tiny art show. I wanted to paint something book-related that most people would recognize.

The entire time I painted this the first lines of the book looped continuously through my head.

The thing Puck has trouble remembering is that Sabrina kicks butt. He’s still got this picture if a twelve-year-old Sabrina jumping into things without thinking, as Sabrina who can fight, but not well enough to save herself from all this. It’s hard for him to remember how much she’s changed in the past several years—especially since he was gone for so much of it, and didn’t get to watch it happen. He understands how Henry felt, now. Puck decides from this that the best thing he can do is give Sabrina the freedom to do it herself, instead of protecting the girl she used to be.

That doesn’t make this situation any less mortifying. He’s tied up, stuck in human form because [reasons], hanging upside-down from one ankle, spinning slowly, while Sabrina stabs and slashes her way past the [monsters] between them. He can’t even really watch what’s happening, because he keeps twisting until she’s out of sight.

You wouldn't think Puck would be the arts and crafts type, but he's actually pretty good at it. Messy as all get-out, of course, leaving a trail of glitter wherever he goes like he's actually covered in fairy dust, scattering little cut-off ends of paper and thread and cloth all over the table and floor and chairs, more often than not tacky with glue that inevitably finds its way into Sabrina's hair.

She's not good at crafts. She can't come up with an idea for how she wants something to look, so it's all slapped together and weird, or she can come up with an idea but can't get her fingers to cooperate, no matter how hard she tries. But she keeps the things he makes her, bracelets and birthday cards with rude messages, stuffed animals and dioramas of her most humiliating memories, and she makes him lumpy, ugly scarves in return.

Portrait Challenge - Day 01

I am challenging myself this month to experiment daily on drawing portraits. My art style has been entirely inconsistent and I want to find a new groove that I enjoy working in that also looks halfway decent. It's almost midnight here so... despite me not being quite as far along on this piece as I wanted to be it's here. Woooo.
