Does anyone else think it's too much of a coincidence that a lost pet of Luna Tenebris named Esmeray spends all her time in the frozen north, very close to the final resting place of a human sea captain named Esmerelda, or is that just me?

Theory based on nothing but similar names and vibes: Luna Tenebris knew the sea captain. After she perished alone and lamenting in the Frozen Sea, Luna retrieved her soul and built the ice body as a shell around it, with the moon collar to keep it stable. When Luna... vanished... Esmeray's collar took damage, and in her distress she returned to the last place she could remember - the Frozen Sea, where the Ray of Illumination was.

Okay, it's based on one thing other than those: why would the companion of the Queen of the Dragons go to the Frozen Sea to mourn her and be sad? Why there? The Frozen Sea is far far away from where I assume Luna ruled at the Moon Nexus.

Yeah, she could've gone up there to be sad and lonely in the dark and the cold for prophecy reasons only. But this is more fun! Plus, I like the idea of Luna making very questionable decisions as the Dragon Queen, like all the other dragon rulers have done. Creepy soul pet stuff fits the bill nicely.
