Things between Tobias & Frank are v funny and complicated bc. well. They've known each other since they were like, well, 7? Figure skating rivals lmao 😭 They both loved to annoy the fuck out of each other but also tended to talk about many different things since both of them had parents that were Really Invested in their futures, meaning they tended to make them concentrate on the sport (+ school in Toby's case, Claudia (its mom) had planned out a med school backup plan for it in case something went wrong) and thus meaning that they had very little time and actually any peers to talk to.
Toby had hated figure skating ever since it started being into it and like, complained a lot about it to Frank. So Frank got an idea on how to end its career. They were skating as a pair during this one contest when they were 15, and at some point Frank kinda dropped (everyone thinks it's an accident) Toby down, thinking it would get like some kind of light injury or something that would heal fast and instead Tobias got its knee fractured. Chronic knee pain has entered the chat or whatever.
Toby was already on its second year of university at that point so it just switched to full time studying, though keeping some kind of contact with Frank. Frank instead got better and better at skating and ended up competing in serious international contests and stuff like that. I think the moment they actually stopped talking to each other was when Tobias left its family at 17 and moved to the other side of the country to work in a corporate lab (it got this fun idea and presented it on thesis fair -> some corporate headhunter spotted it and offered it a spot in their corporate x elite university accelerated phd program. Toby's mom didn't agree bc she wanted it to go straight to med school and they ended up arguing and Tobias just left (tm) and accepted offer).
ANYWAY! Fast forward several years later (they're both 22). Aleena (Toby's university friend) invited Tobias to cofound a skincare start up based on their cosmetic chemistry class project and Tobias agrees, thinking it's a great way to put everything that happened in the corpo lab behind (including but not only limited to Toby's fiance killed by either said corporates or the guy who asked them to give the project data to him for a 'media coverage'). Now you may be thinking how does Frank fit in? WELL.
At the same time, Frank is a famous figure skater and is (funnily enough) also making a breakthrough in acting. A famous young face might as well be the thing they needed for ads. So, Tobias ends up contacting him and asking if he'd like to be their celebrity ambassador or whatever. Frank agreed.
Said situation means that Frank also shows up in the office every now and then to talk "business", especially since he lives in the same city at this point (they're in Florida). One time he shows up and notices Toby being all stressed and stuff like that. Which is honestly the least of Toby's problems at that point (it was in a bad spot. really, really bad spot. it also doesn't remember like 80% of whatever was happening during all this start up thing). Frank asks if he could help in any way and in the end they end up, well, doing not safe for work things in Toby's office.
And so their weird situationship began. No they're not dating yes they are having sex every now and then (very often actually), Toby called it "associates with benefits later". Obviously they had to try hard not to show any signs of it in public bc neither of them wanted ppl to know that they're seeing each other like that.
Did it help with Toby's stress? Well. It did feel maybe a bit better at the beginning but started feeling even worse day by day, and adding up everything else (like substance use, declining feel of self worth and work stress) it really made things to its brain. They also bickered and argued, like, A Lot, which is honestly what they've been doing all the time they've known each other, but this was now affecting Toby's wellbeing very negatively. Frank was also quite secretive about his private life, maybe a bit too much for Toby's liking, which made it feel like he's hiding something.
And, well, turned out Toby's suspicions were correct. One morning, waking up in Frank's bed, it heard some kind of conversation from the living room. Apparently, this whole time, Frank had a boyfriend who knew nothing about their weird relationship and whom Tobias never knew about bc Frank didn't tell it anything. haha. It waited until said boyfriend left and walked out of the bedroom with this weird empty face and went "Oh so when were you going to tell me you have another person? Man I can't believe you used to me to cheat on someone" or something like that and just, well, left the apartment. Something clicked in its brain and made it feel so awful that it just, well, considered going home and eating a whole bottle of pills. Only thing that stopped it was coming home and realizing it doesn't have any left. It went to sit outside on the stairs of its terrace, to cry a little and wonder if it was worth it to go to the pharmacy. Some stray cat appeared from the bushes and went to cuddle next to it, making it feel much better and forget the idea it had, instead coming up with a new one. So it went back inside, packed its important things into two suitcases and a backpack, quickly sold its shares for super cheap to Aleena and just left, moving again to the other side of the country and wanting to forget the whole thing. To start a new page or something like that.
Frank and Tobias barely had any contact after that, not counting one moment when Toby was doing its chemistry master's degree and Frank showed up in the city. The whole thing ended with Klara punching Frank in his face. ANYWAY. They meet again when they are in early 40's bc guess who Toby's boss's boyfriend is? Frank. They had a brief conversation and then probably never talked to each other ever again haha.

📸 What The Kpop: WTK REVIEW: B.A.P’s Daehyun Thrills Fans At Skyview High K-pop Event In NYC

After attending The Shops at Skyview K-Fun event with B.A.P‘s Moon Jongup last year, WTK was invited to cover this year’s event! Due to the popularity of the first program, this year’s run is extended from four weeks to six weeks.
A New Student Has Arrived
Perfectly aligned with the theme, the special guest for the K-pop day was referred to as the “student ambassador.” This year, it was B.A.P’s Jung Daehyun, Moon Jongup’s fellow group member and now fellow label-mate once more.
Although the event was scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., eager fans arrived early in the morning to be at the front of the line. Many brought B.A.P Matoki light sticks as part of the BABY fandom and Jung Daehyun’s solo artist fan light sticks as part of the DABY fandom. There is also a school books and supply drive that will run until August to help children in need.
A few fans worked together to provide banners for the fan meeting and set up digital ads in Times Square and the mall. They also set up a table where fans could write short messages on a large paper banner to be given to Daehyun later.
Before Class Started
In the hall, fans waited for the event to start while enjoying the fitting theme which included things like a school store and tiny market. People could learn more about items and purchase certain Korean products. The cute vendor carts featured food, snacks, skincare products, drinks, and Korean healthcare and wellness goods.
At the end of the row, there was a claw machine with cute Korean character plushies and small bags of Korean snacks inside. Additionally, there was also a table for people interested in learning more about Korea and potentially traveling there.
Before the event, The Shops at Skyview held a media conference that was also live-streamed on Instagram for fans to join in real time. The two hosts, Wesley Sin and Haye Lee, sat with Daehyun at a table for the press conference to answer questions. Haye Lee was also Daehyun’s translator for the event.
Daehyun introduced himself in English with a cute, “Nice to meet you. I’m Daehyun.” Reflecting on being back in New York since 2018, he shared feelings of nostalgia and happiness to meet his fans again, even though he felt a little nervous without his fellow members.
Q&A with Skyview High Student Ambassador Jung Daehyun
About the event, Daehyun expressed his excitement to perform his solo songs, engage with fans, and perform a special B.A.P dance medley.
When asked about wellness advice, the fit K-pop star emphasized the importance of consistency, managing your diet, and enjoying everything in moderation.
As Daehyun is experienced in performing both as a singer and as a musical actor, he gave his tips on how to approach both. For singing, he said that emotional delivery is most important. For performing in musicals, he said the way of delivering the lyrics, the musical style of singing, and acting are huge parts.
Daehyun was also asked what the word BABY/DABY means to him. He said it’s very hard to sum up in one word. Because the memories of BABYz and B.A.P together are so meaningful to him, he said he will focus on this time as B.A.P prepares for their comeback this year. He being a member of B.A.P is a huge part of his identity and he considers it the most important and special aspect in his life.
He finished up the questions from the reporters by saying that he is looking forward to this year as B.A.P is coming back. He said he and the members have just started the project, but the planning has been in the works for a very long time. He said it is a project made without regrets and he hopes that everyone looks forward to it. His solo activities will continue after that, which he is also preparing for accordingly. He stated that appreciates all the support and thanked everyone, especially his fans.
Time for Class
With the media conference over, Daehyun was shuffled away to get ready for his performance. Reporters were led back downstairs to the venue and fans were finally let into the hall. Some event attendees, who by purchasing $200 worth of merchandise at The Shops at Skyview, qualified for a VIP ticket and were let in first. For the other sections in the back, it was free to attend. However, fans had to snag a registration ticket pretty quickly.
After a couple of their dance performances, Daehyun was called on stage to the elation and screaming of the fans. Several of the dancers from AKF performed with Daehyun as his backup dancers. All of the performers looked great dressed up in the school uniform-themed attire.
Subjects for Summer Classes
The show was scheduled for Daehyun to perform throughout sections that were sneak peeks of what the other days in the “summer school” planned to showcase.
K-Fashion: Five finalists from the VIP section modeled their best school-themed outfits. Daehyun and the judges chose a winner. The winning fan then participated in a romantic school-themed K-drama skit with Daehyun on stage.
Daehyun made what he said was his first samgak kimbap with Instructor Debbie. While Daehyun was making his kimbap, Wesley asked him who he thought was the best cook among the B.A.P members. Daehyun got distracted whike making the snack and said, “Uh… me?”
Using Wesley’s iPad to choose who would get to taste his kimbap, Daehyun randomly selected a fan, but Wesley looked at it and said, “Ok, we selected the same person! Who is that lucky?” So, Daehyun had to pick someone else as the crowd laughed.
After that, Instructor Debbie helped Daehyun make a special cocktail using a tanghulu treat as a garnish. Tanghulu is a traditional Chinese snack of skewered fruits, such as grapes or strawberries, that are coated in crystalized sugar. Before making the cocktail, Daehyun was asked if he preferred soju or makgeolli. He firmly said that he likes makgeolli.
After the beautiful cocktail was created and displayed to the audience, it was time for Daehyun to select a lucky fan from the host’s iPad to drink the cocktail he made.
A Heartfelt Finale and a Birthday Wish
Finishing up the event, Daehyun sang “With You,” which is a beautiful song from B.A.P to their fans, BABYz. It’s always wonderful to hear a B.A.P member sing this song. However, this time felt different, more hopeful and not as sad now that B.A.P is finally coming back!
B.A.P is Back
What’s next for Daehyun? Well, with the release of the “Man on the Moon” documentary, everyone knows now— it’s the comeback of B.A.P! After a break of six years and many long hours planning for the next step, B.A.P has returned and will release what they say might be their final album. Only time will tell.
In addition, Daehyun continues ahead as a solo artist, musical star, actor, and more! We hope that he will be able to return to the U.S. soon and also meet many more of his international fans as well.

Health & Wellness Confex 2024 Highlights Gov’t, Private Sector Collaboration
The Health & Wellness Confex 2024 recently concluded at the SMX Center in Pasay City, on a high note, with government and private sector representatives pledging to work together to promote the Philippines as a prime health and wellness tourist destination.

In his keynote address, Herbosa said supporting wellness tourism is now a priority for the DOH. This was confirmed by Dr. Maria Francia Miciano-Laxamana, DOH undersecretary for medical tourism, who pointed out in her presentation that ensuring the safety and health of tourists is a major department objective.

“I’ve also been running every week and I spend one hour in the gym every day,” he added. “Health and wellness are all about attitude and it should be a priority for everyone regardless of age,” he said.
Calixto-Rubiano echoed the importance of having the right mentality towards health and wellness. She also talked about the various health and wellness programs of the Pasay City government, including the empowering mothers and infants or EMI project. “We are aligned with the First 1,000 Days program, a public health initiative that aims to provide comprehensive health and nutrition support during the first 1,000 days of a child’s life,” she said.

In addition, the city implements feeding programs, conducts free medical tests, and extends support for COVID-19 patients.
The first day’s list of speakers also included Wanda Teo, former DOT secretary, and  Cynthia Lagdameo Carrion, Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) general manager and CEO. Every speaker focused on their unique perspectives, but all of them emphasized the need to integrate health and wellness into the tourism industry.

Another highlight of the first day of the Health and Wellness Confex 2024 conference was a roundtable discussion about the Filipino brand of wellness. The discussion was moderated by Catherine Turvill, Wellness Nurture Village founder and president. The panel was made up of Jennifer Sanvictores, The Farm at San Benito global head of sales and marketing communications, Vikki C. Aquino, Okada Manila director of The Retreat Spa, Kenneth Trullench, Las Caidas Wellness Resort Wellness Resort manager, and Atho De La Cruz, Ilaya Retreat Spa at Damires Hills Farm and Spa Resort Spa and Wellness director.

A highlight was the series of workshops dedicated to natural and organic anti-aging practices. Experts in dermatology and holistic health unveiled the latest research and techniques in natural skincare, emphasizing sustainable and chemical-free approaches to maintaining youthfulness and vitality.The final day of the event took a vibrant turn with the holding of the Masigabo Wellness Festival, a special celebration that was especially dedicated to Filipino migrant workers, more commonly known as overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).  
The presence of Jerome A. Alcantara, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) assistant secretary, underscored the government’s commitment to supporting OFWs. In his message, Alcanta lauded the resilience and hard work of the Filipino diaspora and emphasized the importance of initiatives like Masigabo in fostering a sense of unity and pride among Filipinos worldwide. Tourism representatives, meanwhile, sought to enlist OFWs to become health and wellness ambassadors. 
The Masigabo Festival not only brought the event to a memorable close, but also reinforced the theme of holistic health by celebrating the connection between cultural well-being and physical wellness. Attendees left with not just knowledge of and insights into health and wellness, but also a deeper appreciation for the cultural ties that bind the Filipino community together.

A Night at the Museum With Sulwhasoo and Rosé While everyone's anticipating the Met Gala in a few weeks, the Met Museum steps were barricaded for a different yet no less glamorous reason on Thursday night: the celebration of a partnership between the museum and Sulwhasoo, the holistic Korean skincare brand.BLACKPINK's Rosé, who was named a Sulwhasoo global ambassador last October, was there as co-host, one of the rare New York public appearances the k-pop star has made in recent years. Other ambassador co-hosts included the Chinese actress Jia Song and Oscar winner Yuh-Jung Youn.Related | Is BLACKPINK Coming Back Sooner Than we Thought?The brand took over the museum's iconic Temple of Dendur and transformed into an intimate lounge complete with a dining area, DJ booth and dance floor. Performers for the afterparty included Anderson .Paak, who is half Korean on his mother’s side, and the Ambiguous Dance Company, which draw inspiration from Korean culture.Tilda Swinton, another Sulwhasoo ambassador, stars in a new film which premiered that night. Other guests included Charli XCX, FERG, Antoni Porowski, models Precious Lee, Georgia Fowler and Paloma Elsesser, and ballet dancer Violetta Komyshan.Sulwhasoo, which was "born in 1932" according to the brand bio, is billed as the first luxury skin care brand to blend science with holistic skin wellness drawn from Korean herbal medicine and is known for its gingseng herb ingredients.
