also it helps that Ghostwatcher doesn't have a really good sense of smell!! he died from calicivirus, which created huge sores in his mouth, nose, and throat and really fucked up their olfactory cells, so they can't smell Skunkspots!!!

I'm wondering how they got together. Flickerpine and Ghostwatcher has been established.

Maybe Tanglestar agreed to be a donor because he didn't think he would have another chance to have kits, and met them either while pregnant or shortly after giving the kits off.

Perhaps Flicker heard that Tangle had / would have the kits of Alder and Myrtle (Flicker's inspirations for so long) and decided hmm I want to see how this guy is doing.

How the crew would appear in the Dark Forest according to their death:

Myrtlewing: head decapitated, attached only by strings of skin, tendons, and meat. Maybe neck bone.

Ratbirch: soaked to the bone, water dripping from body, mouth, and nostrils.

Batroot: deep gash in head.

Skunkspots: rod impaling through body. Covered in Twoleg garbage.

Snakefern: branch sticking through neck.

Sparrowfall: split in half, connected by stomach.

Applefoot: head twisted oddly.

Batflight: flayed along different parts of his body.

Shellgrass: jaw snapped open, lower jaw hanging.

Fennelbur: flesh-eating disease is active. Distorted skin, vomit spilling from mouth.

Gorseheart: body tangled in a mass of thorns, chucks of skin separated

I don’t really believe that their death marks are shown, but from an art perspective, I think it’s really neat. 

It’s more one of those things that you talk about, but if you don’t want it to be canon to your ocs, it’s not. Shellgrass wouldn’t be able to talk at all, and Gorseheart would be way too hard to draw for simple sketches.
