Izzy is also annoyed with him. like almost everyone is mad or annoyed with Alec while he hurt his boyfriend, his sister, and is stressed out about the job. and he can’t even talk to anyone about it!

I think putting Maryse in a few minute scene would have been lovely. she knows how it feels to sacrifice yourself for the clave and it would have been great to see her supporting Alec and shit talking Robert. also why didn’t anyone tell Alec to inform Magnus or support him? all we see is Izzy asking but would have been a great moment to have Maryse involved and be supportive!!!!!! because maybe the fucker knew what he was doing but telling Alec a dark secret that could hurt thousands

Cette initiative visait à surmonter les obstacles qui entravent le commerce intracommunautaire dans la région. L’objectif principal était d’améliorer la fluidité des échanges entre les deux nations tout en renforçant l’intégration économique régionale. Durant cette mission, des réunions stratégiques ont été organisées avec des responsables politiques, des ministres et des chefs d’agences douanières. Ces rencontres ont permis d’évaluer les protocoles existants pour faciliter le libre mouvement des biens et des personnes. Parallèlement, des consultations avec le secteur privé ont mis en lumière les défis auxquels les commerçants gambiens sont confrontés, notamment les restrictions sur l’accès au marché sénégalais pour les produits approuvés par le SLEC et les pratiques abusives aux postes frontières. Une visite sur le corridor Banjul-Farafenni, reliant la Gambie au Sénégal via le pont de la Sénégambie, a permis à la délégation d’observer directement les difficultés opérationnelles et les goulets d’étranglement qui entravent le commerce. Les discussions ont également porté sur la nécessité d’harmoniser davantage les politiques commerciales, d’améliorer les infrastructures et de garantir une application stricte des dispositions du SLEC. Dr. Chambas a souligné l’importance de solutions concrètes telles que l’automatisation des postes douaniers et l’utilisation du SIGMAT, un système numérique visant à simplifier la gestion des marchandises en transit. Il a également recommandé la mise en place d’un mécanisme d’alerte instantané pour résoudre rapidement les perturbations commerciales. La mission s’est conclue par la signature d’un mémorandum d’entente entre la Gambie, le Sénégal et le groupe de travail du SLEC. Cet accord marque un engagement renouvelé à réduire les tensions commerciales et à promouvoir une coopération bilatérale renforcée. Les parties prenantes espèrent que ces efforts contribueront à éliminer les barrières commerciales tout en favorisant une prospérité économique dans toute la région. Cette initiative s’inscrit dans l’ambition plus large de la CEDEAO de supprimer tous les obstacles au commerce intrarégional d’ici 2030. Apl-spec is shorthand for Aplatonic spectrum (kinda like saying aro-spec, ace-slec or just aro, ace, apl is the same but for Aplatonic!)

Aplatonic is the label used for lack of (or very little) platonic attraction. I'll use romantic attraction and aro-spec as examples to compare :3

Platonic attraction is the feelings of wanting to engage with a specific person(s) in platonic activities and have a platonic relationship with that person! Much like romantic attraction but with the intent being platonic instead :3

(of course, someone doesn't HAVE to experience experience platonic attraction to want to engage in platonic activities and have friendships, they can still choose to regardless (and some do and some dont!))

Alabama Accused of Discouraging Solar Power with Unfair Fees in Federal Lawsuit

The Southern Environmental Law Center and Ragsdale LLC filed the lawsuit on Monday July 12th against the Alabama Public Service Commission for approving Alabama Power’s “punitive and discriminatory” charges targeting customers with rooftop or on-site solar.

Accused of implementing harsh fees on customers who generate their own electric power with rooftop or on-site solar panels, the Alabama Power company is at the center of a federal lawsuit against the state’s regulators. “We’re asking the Court to require the Commission to follow the law so that Alabama Power will stop unfairly taxing private solar investments,” says Keith Johnston, director of SELC’s Alabama office[1].

Alabama Power charges a $5.41-per-kilowatt fee, based on the capacity of the home system, on people who use solar panels or other means to generate part of their own electricity. On a standard 5 kW system, customers pay an extra $325 in fees per year. This amounts to over $9,700 over the expected 30-year lifespan of the system, drastically increasing costs to the homeowner in reducing any financial benefit they might gain from solar power.

Alabama Power continues to maintain that the additional fees are needed to maintain current infrastructure for backup power. Alyson Tucker, a spokesperson for Alabama Power states, “customers who want to rely on the company to back up their own generation should pay their share of associated costs”[2].

This lawsuit is preceded by many other attempts from solar advocates for federal regulators to overrule Alabama’s Public Service Commission and strike down fees that Alabama Power charges to its customers with solar panels. In a petition filed on March 31, 2021 the Southern Environmental Law Center argued that the additional fees for customers with solar energy  does not comply with federal utility law because it is not based on the actual costs of providing power to those customers.

In the petition the petitioners argue that the Alabama Public Service Commission failed to implement 18 C.F.R. § 292.305. In 18 C.F.R. § 292.305(a), Congress states that “rates for sales shall be just and in the public interest and shall not discriminate against any qualifying facility in comparison to rates for sales to other customers served by the electric utility.”

The petition lists out the reasons that all three parts of 18 C.F.R. § 292.305 is violated. They claim that 18 C.F.R. § 292.305(a) is violated because the charges are not based on accurate data, are based on lost revenues rather than cost-of-service principles, and the charges apply a different pricing policy to QFs than non-QFs with very few additional differences. 18 C.F.R. § 292.305(b) is violated because members are being charged for backup power that they did not request although that is a clearly specified necessity in the law. Additionally, 18 C.F.R. § 292.305(c) states that rates should not be based on an assumption and these charges rely on “unreasonable and unsupported assumptions” regarding forced outages of customer-sited systems[3].

Although the petitioners requested action against the Public Service Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rejected the environmental groups’ request. This was not the first time a challenge like this had been rejected. In September of 2020 Alabama’s Public Service Commission rejected the Southern Environmental Law Center’s challenge to Alabama Power’s fee increase from $5 per kW to $5.41 per kw a month. The SELC initial challenge to Alabama power’s additional fees for solar customers occurred in April 2018. After complaints at the state level being rejected time and time again, this new lawsuit has been filed in federal court.  

“Since 2013, Alabama Power’s unjust monthly fee has limited the rights of Alabama homeowners and businesses to use solar power on their properties to reduce their electric bills,” states the SLEC Press release, “One of the highest fees on solar customers of any regulated utility nationwide, the monthly fee is imposed on top of other fixed and variable charges and significantly reduces customers’ expected savings, making it impractical to invest in solar power”[1].

With more information to come as the lawsuit is granted a hearing date, the future of solar energy in Alabama is on trial. The outcome of which could have a significant impact as much of the country turns away from fossil fuels and seeks a renewable form of energy.
