Hope everyone had a good holiday!

Mine was survivable. The in-laws recently rescued a dog from a bad situation, so most of their focus was on that and not politics and 'the reason things were better in my day was because (insert racism/homophobia/misogyny/etc)'.

Hubby got me a new toy! It's nothing expensive, but it beats trying to use the touchscreen to draw on my notebook pc.

I have already mapped the top button for ctrl+z lol

Definitely a learning curve, and my pc gamer habits keep wanting to reposition my hand when my wrist gets too close to the edge of the tablet (edge of mousepad = reposition mouse quickly before you run out of room which may cause dps to drop .01% and the whole raid to die and blame the huntard for wiping lol).

I'm mostly focused on getting the feel of things, and less on details atm. One of my practices both with and without the base I used (face looks dumb, but like I said I'm not focused on details atm, just getting the feel of things). Thicker lines indicate where I was really having to fight my hand shaking (and I can guarantee I redid those lines no less than a half-dozen times lol).

Another Yachiyo from my sketchbook.

I looked up screenshots of the MagiReco anime and also flipped through the copies of the manga that I have, and I find that I prefer how Fujino Fuji draws Yachiyo more than others. In general Fuji's proportions are closer to what I'm used to when drawing. (Had a whole convo with a friend after we checked out a maid cafe about how, despite watching a lot of anime with moe art styles, I'm not really into moe that much myself.)

Ive said this before but swear the biggest skill to learn as an adult is how to resist high-pressure sales tactics. You do NOT have to answer questions with anything other than "Sorry I'm not interested." No matter how nice they are or no matter how many follow up questions they ask or even how agitated they get when you stand your ground. Just keep saying I'm not interested. Don't answer their questions. Don't give them an opening to try to push back on your reasons. Be a fucking brick wall of I'm not interested.
