What character(s) would you have liked George to have included as a POV that made sense for the story?

Irri or Jhiqui late in ADWD after Dany left to augment Barry and Quentyn. And suddenly they turn from "simple, superstitious, loyal" and essentially mindless handmaidens to complex characters with their own opinions, motivations, priorities and judgments, and - this would be crucial - with an explicit eloquence that is denied to them from Dany's POV.

Dany speaks Dothraki as a second language, learned recently, and I can't help but think that the clunky, simplified way we hear them speak through Dany's POV is due to her inability to properly pick up and convey the nuances of their speech.

Either of these two characters suddenly emerging from the obscurity of Dany's inattention, as three-dimensional individuals would be really powerful because it would instantly reveal Dany as lacking true interest in them as people, which is pretty damning in terms of her heroic self-image. Plus, it would finally grant us better insight into Dothraki culture from inside it, giving it a voice and dignity, even if we don't share their values, similarly to the various Greyjoys giving us nuance and detail on Ironborn culture.

I think this would have amplified the impact of Dany's grasslands POV, her self-image contrasting with an outside perspective.

Is it just me or is Otto's main motivation to prevent Daemon from taking true power and ruin the kingdoms, and most of his choices flow from there? We are shown how Daemon rules when he creates a massacre with the goldcloaks and Otto hates it. He knows Daemon hates him too. Otto's been running the kingdom pretty successfully for Viserys, but Rhaenyra's affinity for Daemon and ability to give him power by marrying him (or inversely be replaced by him as a Male Heir) seems like the one reason he sacrifices Alicent to that goal of preventing it: to create the trueborn male heir that Aemma couldn't give Viserys that would prevent Rhaenyra from becoming a stepladder for Daemon? If Aemma's son had lived, Otto probably wouldn't have wanted to attach his family to the crown directly. It's not ambition but a self-imposed duty to prevent one specific danger to the Realm.

Except Viserys doesn't make his son the heir, and Otto can't manipulate him into it, his daughter refuses to see the danger until Rhaenyra has successfully removed Otto from his position. Rhaenyra proves every fear he ever had about her and worse. So now his daughter and grandchildren need to go to war because Otto knows they would never be safe as rivals to Rhaenyra, especially with Daemon in the picture. He had good intentions but he took a massive gamble and lost and... now THAT is the truly grey character GRRM pretends Daemon is!

actually insane that this guy acted like VIDCON was some dream meet and greet event in order to “clap back” at a guy who was only in his merch line because his friend (who is disabled and was in a wheelchair) wanted to be there and then when he was removed bc his fans acted like he was a genuine threat to security (he wasn’t) his friend was stuck in the line with no help or support because the security at this years vidcon were fucking vile to disabled people. but yeah sure call him a stalker or whatever and say he showed up to ur meet and greet event you got him!

just want to say thank you for not doomposting and still talking positively about the QSMP, as someone who wants to do the same but can't because Twitter and some of my mutuals on here i don't want to be blocked by are refusing to have hope it means a lot

I think a lot of people get too caught up in everything and dont really take the time to think critically about it before posting, but thats kind of a normal thing on social media lol i think it has been worse since the twitter migrations though... thankfully my dash is curated enough that i dont get all of that on there, or the content that falls through the cracks is filtered out

I dislike Lunar’s whole “not talk about my problems until I throw myself into a new one instead” thing he does.

I disliked it so bad and so much that I actually liked eclipse more than Lunar because I disliked Eclipse but out right hated Lunar and I don’t hate the characters genuinely I don’t hate any of them, I’m not a hateful being but looking deeply at Lunar’s character that made me hate him.

He sat in a pool of his own problems, made everyone walk on eggshells around him for months and did nothing to work past his trauma, and I actually wasn’t mad at Gemini for calling out Lunar because nobody else was gonna tell him as it is or be completely honest about his situation to him because they’re too nice, their too used to walking on eggshells to tell him the truth, because he’d just up and leave.

I don’t hate Lunar anymore, but I disliked how he dealt with his problems, and how everyone had to walk on eggshells for months around him because he wouldn’t help himself.
