Art collab with the wonderfull, amazing @sluggybasson107 !!
This art god wanted to collab with the local potato and she had the amazing idea to do a lineart swap! The idea to draw Yamato in his Diaboromon outfit came from a conversation on Discord!
I did the lineart for the first picture and sluggy did the gorgeous lineart for the bottom one! Colors were done in reverse!
1. Lineart: Me; Colors: Sluggy
2. Lineart: Sluggy; Colors: Me
Sluggy once again proves shes blessed with gorgeous, amazing art skills!!! Seriously she made Yamato look so good with both her lineart and the colors in mine!
Please check her out shes amazing and deserves all the support!
Thank you for this wonderfull collaboration Sluggy!

Hello!! For the Get to know your fic writer! ask game, I wanted to send 4, 20, 35, 45, and 61! You don't need to answer all of them if you aren't comfortable with that!!
04: Where do you find inspiration for new ideas? Anywhere and everywhere! I watch episodes/read manga, I get ideas. I read someone else's fanfic and get ideas. I talk to my friends and get ideas. I walk down the street and get ideas! They ambush me when I least expect it!
20: Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lt, themes, common settings, etc? Brainwashing, obsession, characters falling to evil, probably more things I haven't even noticed.
35: What is one essential thing to remember when writing a villain? It depends on your villain and what you're trying to do. Writing canon!Digimon Kaiser is very different from writing Bitter Bargains!Digimon Kaiser, as well as writing canon!Haou vs Reversal!Haou vs Bridges!Haou. Heck, just writing Reversal!Haou with Ryou as opposed to Johan is very different! Take each villain on their own, be aware of their goals, and what they're likely to do or not do.
45: Do you want to break your readers' heart or make them laugh? I want to break their hearts. And their souls. And their minds.
61: Why do you continue writing fics? Because the words scream at me if I don't

Hello! If you don’t mind, can you answer 3, 16, and 21 for the ask game? I hope you have a wonderful day/night 💛
Of course, Sluggy! Thanks for the ask 💛
Under the cut because this ended up kind of long XD
Here is the ask game if you're interested!
3. Least favourite things to draw?
Hmmmm well. I always struggle with backgrounds and just like… inanimate objects. I think I find them boring to practice! Would much rather draw a cute face or a body in motion, so shockingly, that is 95% of my drawing output XD
6. Which artists inspire you right now?
Ooh, well, all of my digi-mutuals for sure! There is so much amazing fic and art on my dash. Y’all are constantly producing so much high-quality stuff that it’s a little overwhelming sometimes!! But don’t stop, this is a great problem to have (though it makes me slow to respond, particularly to long-form fic orz).
Here are some other (non-digimon) artists I follow who have been hugely inspiring to me recently:
Trungles (Gorgeous art-noveau style! I have their tarot card deck)
Umishima Senbon (Bought their artbook at a con recently. I WISH I could draw that many beautiful lived-in spaces and inanimate objects!!)
Popsicle-stick (Dracula art)
Marghen (Dracula art)
Professorcalculusstanaccount (Tintin art and animations)
21. Weirdest thing you’ve ever drawn?
HMMM. That is a REALLY difficult q. to answer, because I used to draw a LOT of stuff that is utterly incomprehensible out of context (and it's something I still kind of enjoy doing, hehe). So here are some sample "no context is the best context" drawings I have on my hard drive (they're all REALLY old; most involve Tai, and some could be considered a little racy/in poor taste, take that as you will):
Tumblr media
(Daisuke gets the better of Goth TK; a pogo stick and a hippity-hop is involved. One poem and one mini-fanfic now lost to time may explain how we got here.)
Tumblr media
(The oekaki board I used to be on had a Whole Thing about Dai being infatuated with Tai. This drawing was a response to someone else's drawing that happened at Halloween. The person in the Sailor Moon costume is Matt; Tai's hand is visible and he's dressed as Tuxedo Mask.)
(gOD I miss oekaki! I would kill for the ability to do that kind of screentone shading so easily again DX)
Tumblr media
(Recreation of a dream I had, before the words "Fox" and "News" were quite as bad as they are today 🤮 Digimon used to air on the Fox channel in the US, and they did a LOT of weird promos. My subconscious made her own)
Tumblr media
(Panel of a comic that is meant to look 0_0 but isn't really, I swear!!)
Tumblr media
(Satirical commentary on certain digimon fanfiction trends circa 2010 and earlier, via Kate Beaton meme)
Tumblr media
(Teen Girl Squad/Digimon crossover ft. the digigirls pre-Tri and Joe. Cheerleader! So-And-So! What's-Her-Face! The Ugly One!)
I'll be honest, there's probably a LOT more weird stuff in my sketchbooks. I don't really want to comb through years of old drawings for the most WTF-inducing ones, but suffice it to say, they're there, and the fact that the sample size is THIS big almost certainly says something about me :3
Phew. If you made it this far, thanks for letting me ramble and show you some weird stuff from the vault! I hope you have a great day/night as well!! 💛

Hello! If you don't mind 😺🚪 for the build-a-blurb ask meme? Thank you, and have a good day/night!
Hi, hello! Thank you for this! It's simple but I hope you like it! I couldn't figure out which characters to use so I went with the characters from my novel (I hope you don't mind!). And since I like it, I might even tweak it a little and add it!
*edited once so mistakes are present
Celestia was not aware of where she was going. She just walked and walked and walked. Her classes had just finished and she did not feel like going home. Elle Rose was still at work and her twin brother Zeke had basketball practice.
She was walking on familiar routes, despite her wandering mind, she was still careful of where her feet were leading her. It was only until she began a slope up that she realized that she was heading towards her spot.
There were only a handful of people at the cliff so she had no problem finding a bench to sit on. She sighed as she sat down, removing her messenger bag from her body and laying it beside her. She shuffled through the bag, looking for her phone. Today was a busy day, one of the days where she would doubt why she was getting her Ph.D. It was no wonder she was spacing out.
"Come on, 'leste," she whispered to herself. "You started this. You end it."
She stayed by the cliff for a few more hours, she waited until the sunset. It was one of those darker nights and she was a little nervous if she was being honest to herself. She has not had the best experience walking alone lately. She could call for her chauffer but she was still not in the mood to be with people.
So she took her chances and walked.
When she arrived home, the guard on duty looked at her in surprise but said nothing as he opened the gate.
But as she was entering, she heard her name being called. She turned around and her eyes widened.
Heath.
It had been a while since she saw him. She was avoiding him. And now he was at her house and although she could simply have him shunned away, she stood frozen in place.
"Celestia."
It took her a while but she finally found her voice. "What are you doing here?" she asked.
Heath stayed silent.
She shook her head and began to head back inside, but Heath had held onto her arm. She looked at him, trying her best to give him an annoyed look on her face. Unfortunately, she was always bad at pretending.
"I'll have him escorted out, Ms. Celestia," the guard said.
Celestia shook her head. "No, it's alright." She snatched her arm away from the grip and said, "What do you want?"
Heath pursed his lips. "I dreamt about Celeste."
There it was. The pang in her heart whenever Heath mentioned her past life. "What does that have to do with me?"
"She...she...she told me she loved me."
Celestia closed her eyes and sighed. "She did love you, Heath. We all know that."
"That's the problem."
"How is that a problem?" She was getting frustrated now. "I distanced myself from you because it hurts knowing that you see me as Celeste when I am my own person now! You're an angel, Heath. You don't need to love anyone new. Continue to love Celeste for all I care." Yes, she did care.
"The problem is...she's letting go of me."
Celestia stayed silent. She tried to be quiet but the words just came out of her mouth. "She did a long time ago."
"No, I mean. She's letting go of me. She's allowing me to stop loving her."
"Celeste was a big part of your life. I know you can't stop loving her even if she did ask you to."
He looked down. "I think I've already let go of her. I think I did so a long time ago."
"Then why are you here?"
"I feel like I'm betraying her. I feel like, she's telling me to stop loving her because I'm betraying her."
Celestia shook her head. "Look, Heath. I don't know how to help you right now, okay? Just please go. I've got a lot to do tonight. So unless you wanna see any of my brothers show you the way out, you better leave."
"I'm scared, 'leste."
She glared at him. "You know you can't call me that anymore."
"I'm scared, Celestia," he corrected. "I'm scared of losing myself. I'm nothing without Celeste."
"Heath--"
"I'm scared because I love you."
I've always wanted a suspenseful ending, hehe. I hope you liked it! Be honest! Hahaha.

Hi Gen!!! Do you mind answering 💐🧨🔥 for Soul Eater and/or Avatar: the Last Airbender? If you don’t want to do either, feel free to ignore. Thank you and have a good day <33
Hi Sluggy!! Thank you so much for sending me an ask, hehe <3
MAN it has actually been a hot minute since I've engaged with Soul Eater, I had to dig in the recesses of my mind for High School!Gen who had a lot of thoughts.
💐Comfort Character: Probably Soul and Death the Kid. Voiced by my two favorite English VAs, I was/am still very much in love with their personalities and quirks.
🧨Character you love to hate: Excalibur.
🔥Character you think is overrated: I don't think I have one for Soul Eater, though I was never the biggest fan of Crona. They get better as the series goes on, but for a while I was just... meh.
As for ATLA!
💐Comfort Character: Zuko, of course. Oh, and Appa! They both give me the warm fuzzies and make me laugh a lot! I think Iroh might be one too, big teddy bear that he is...
🧨Character you love to hate: Admiral Zhao <3
🔥Character you think is overrated: I truly don't think anyone is necessarily overrated in this series, in fact, I'd dare to say some are UNDERrated. As for who... uh... the foaming mouth guy! I WANT MORE CONTENT ABOUT HIM!

Female Digimon ship poll winners!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image Descriptions: Three digital sketches of wlw Digimon couples in dark pink ink. The first three drawings are shaded while the other images are the same except they are not shaded. Each drawing has the signature "SluggyBasson107" in the top left corner
The first sketch is a drawing of Mimi Tachikawa and Meiko Mochizuki as adults a couple of years before the 02 epilogue. Mimi, who's wearing overalls and a light bandanna, is hugging Meiko from behind and smirking. A shocked but happy Meiko is laughing with her eyes shut. Both girls have shorter hair (around shoulder length) and Meiko has her ears pierced with hoops.
The second sketch is a drawing of Miyako Inoue and Hikari Yagami with their outfits and ages from Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning. Their clothes are worn and Hikari has bandages around her right arm and left fingers. She's leaning on Miyako's right shoulder, sleeping while Miyako keeps watch for any enemies.
The third sketch is an assassin x bodyguard AU of Sora Takenouchi and Mimi Tachikawa. In the drawing, Mimi wears a suit as a bodyguard while Sora is an assassin who seduces their victims. Sora, who's facing away from the camera, smirks as she pulls on Mimi's tie with her left hand, making the girl blush. Behind her dress is a knife in her right hand. A blushing Mimi stares at Sora while holding a revolver in her right hand. End Image Description]
These are a little late, but I created drawings for both wlw poll winners! and then I forgot to post them for weeks I had so much with these sketches so feel free to ask me about these AUs since they have me in a chokehold. Commissions are open 💕

My very first commission here on tumblr is dedicated to the lovely @sluggybasson107, who gave me all the time in the world to finish my art of the beautiful Fei Wong Tomoe Ignacio from Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth. It has been fun trying out something new, stepping out of my comfort zone and draw a character I’ve never did before! Thank you for commissioning me! <3

Merry Digi-mas, @nsdrawsstuff ! I was your Secret Santa! (My main blog is @animegenork , but for the sake of my sanity, I post all my writing here... I know it's confusing.) It has unfortunately been a long time since I've seen Savers, and the same goes for Adventure 02; however, I do remember my impressions of Daisuke and Masaru's characters and wanted to try my hand at doing something a little goofy with them. (But mostly Daisuke, since I dabble more with Adventure content.) I hope you enjoy! [AND I'M SO SORRY ABOUT HOW LATE IN THE DAY I'M POSTING THIS!] Thank you to @digisecretsanta and @sluggybasson107 as always for hosting! 💕
Running Late
Word Count: 991 | Universe: Adventure [02] x Savers Crossover (slight Xros Wars reference) | Characters: Daisuke Motomiya, V-mon, Masaru Daimon | Dedicated to nsdrawsstuff
It was a Christmas like any other, but also extraordinary in its own way, because wasn't every Christmas spent with Digimon extraordinary?
Though he and the others had been planning their get-together for months, Daisuke had been so busy he'd kept pushing off his task. Takeru had even teased him about it the other day, asking if he'd gotten the food yet for their fête. "Of course I did," Daisuke scoffed, setting down his water glass a little more forcefully than necessary. "Who d'you think I am?"
"You," Ken had replied smoothly, coolly, even, not a hint of malice in the words. Just the truth.
Well, they were both right, dammit.
Daisuke glanced at the clock. Okay. He only had a few more minutes of his shift left. Then he could go run out for some snacks. Surely there would still be some left somewhere, right?
V-mon poked his head over the counter. "How much longer?"
"Just a few more minutes, buddy! Then we can go get the grub." As if he didn't already work in a restaurant. With plenty of food.
"Daisuke! Mind bussing that table? You can call it a day after that." His manager poked his head into the kitchen, nodding to a table that had only recently been vacated. Daisuke grinned and nodded, turning off the stove in front of him.
Was it fair to say he was practically sprinting to bus the table? Yes. So was it completely expected that he would bump into someone while he did so? Also yes. The unfortunate part of the encounter, however, was that he was holding a pile of plates, and he nearly dropped all of them. As he fumbled with the Leaning Tower of Plate, he spun to apologize to the person he'd bumped into. In the nick of time, he regained his balance. Bonus! "Sorry about that! I wasn't looking."
"No problem, man. Don't sweat it," the guy said, waving. "Be careful!"
Daisuke paused and watched the man leave the restaurant. Shaggy brown hair, dog tags, wristbands… he looked familiar. Or, at the very least, he almost seemed like some alternate version of Taichi. Back when they were kids, at least. But that could be true of just about anyone, right?
Then again, he was a Chosen Child. Coincidences weren't something to be taken lightly.
He didn't have time for this! If it was something to worry about, something else would happen. That was usually the way these things went in his life. Right now, he had a mission. And that mission was to get snacks!
V-mon paced dutifully behind him as Daisuke hurried down the street, scanning for a convenience store that would still have the types of snacks that his friends liked. And that the Digimon liked. That was the most important part, because obviously the Digimon would be eating more than half of the food.
Finally! One appeared in front of him, almost by magic (though he knew there was no such thing, unless Digimon counted), and he hurried inside. His breath fogged in front of his face as he released it, but the convenience store was fairly warm. V-mon did a full body shake, almost like a dog, stomping his feet to regain feeling. Daisuke was constantly reminded that shoes were a blessing whenever he had his partner with him.
A cursory glance at the store revealed low stocks of the kinds of chips and cookies he was looking for, but that didn't deter him. There had to be something.
Times like this, it was helpful for one to have a Digimon partner. V-mon reached further back on the lower shelves for the last of the party-size sour cream and onion chips. Now as for barbeque…
"Ah, I bet you're looking for this. Here, I grabbed two."
Daisuke looked up from his position kneeling on the floor, instantly recognizing the guy he'd bumped into earlier. "Hey, you're—"
"The one you nearly ran over? Yeah, I am." The man held out a hand, and Daisuke gripped it in his own, allowing himself to be helped to his feet. "You look like you're in a bind. Got a party or something?"
"Yeah, I said I'd get snacks, but you know… work and stuff…" Daisuke rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
The guy just nodded in understanding. "Been there. Bet you got a friend who gives you crap for it, even if he's not harsh about it?"
"In their own ways, they all do. But yeah, I got two of them."
"Ha, nice. Well, hopefully they like barbeque." With a smile, the man handed him the barbeque chips.
"Thanks." Daisuke smiled down at the chips, knowing that the Digimon (especially V-mon) would love them. When he looked up, the stranger was leaving. "Wait, at least tell me your name! If I run into you again, I'd love to repay you."
"I'm going out of town soon, so I don't think you'll see me again. But, for what it's worth, Masaru. See you around, Daisuke."
"Masaru." That name sounded familiar, kind of like how he looked like someone he'd seen before. At least, the sound of his name fit in his mouth in a way that meant he'd used it before. Right…?
Wait, but how did he know his name?
Before he could ask, Masaru was gone.
"That was strange," V-mon said, scratching his cheek with a claw.
"You're pretty strange, too, buddy," Daisuke pointed out with a playful smile, trying to shake off the swirling questions. He could ask Koushiro or Taichi or someone about this later—right now, he had snacks to obtain! "Now let's go look at the cookies."
Though he didn't run into Masaru a third time, Daisuke couldn't help but wonder if he was having as merry of a Christmas as he and the others were. Maybe he'd see him the next time he was running late with something.
Extraordinary Christmas indeed.

come home (hikari week, day one)
for hikari week, @sluggybasson107 and i decided to collaborate - for every entry i’ve written, she’s drawn an image. the picture inserted (below the cut) was created by sluggy, and with her permission, i’ve posted it along with a story.
characters: hikari and friends
summary: the voices call for hikari once again, only this time, she isn’t strong enough to resist. // also on AO3 .
Hikari had grown used to unidentifiable beings worming their way into her body, using her as a catalyst for something Greater, something Bigger than she would ever be.
She had grown used to the nightmares that followed, to the suspicion that her only purpose was to be used for the Greater Good.
At eight years old, stranded in the midst of a desert, Hikari knew the Digital World did not care for the Chosen. They were all means to an end; they were all pawns in a game.
Puppetmon exploited that fact beautifully, whipping them around as if they were mere playthings.
At eight years old, Hikari had watched Wizardmon sacrifice himself for her partner, had commanded Angewomon to send an arrow through her brother’s chest.
At eleven, they called for her again, the inky waters of a dark shore lapping at her sneakers. Voices whispered through her head, simultaneously everywhere and nowhere all at once.
Then, she’s fourteen, waking up in a  hospital when she should have been in class. The woman from the government, Maki, had signed her release papers, whispering little encouragements in her ears. “You have a gift, Hikari. The Digital World must love you.”
The woman’s smile had sent shivers down her spine, but Hikari had learned not to ask questions.
Maki had not been there to listen to Meiko scream into the starry sky, her partner’s data floating on the wind. Maki had been mistaken, the Digital World loved no one.
Hikari had not been surprised when the Digital World wrapped her in its schemes once again, Homeostasis itself beckoning to her from the corners of her own mind.
At twenty, Hikari had grown numb.
“Thanks for meeting on such short notice,” Koushiro began. By then, they knew his thanks were a mere formality; they never had much choice when it came to saving the world.
Through the endless responsibilities of a Chosen, Hikari had learned to find comfort in the things that never changed.
Koushiro’s office was still cluttered, an outdated pair of goggles keeping Daisuke’s hair at bay.
Another Kuwagumon ravaged Odaiba Bay, surveillance footage playing through Koushiro’s computer, civilians fleeing the scene like ants running from their mound.
“It appears to be manageable,” he muttered under his breath. Despite his many promotions, Koushiro’s office nearly burst at the seams with full attendance. Childhood friends proved difficult to outgrow.
Wedged between Miyako and the arm of the sofa, Hikari watched the screen listlessly as the Kuwagumon flew overhead, the grainy footage obscuring the sharpness of the pinchers.
Pressure built behind her eyes, a dull thrum reverberating in her skull. From somewhere to her left, her brother formulated a game plan, dividing tasks and responsibilities as he always did.
As Hikari rummaged in her purse for ibuprofen, she allowed her mind to wander.
Taichi’s speech had been memorized long ago, Hikari’s battle tasks unchanging since childhood: stay close, attack only when necessary.
“Do you really need all of us there?” Mimi spoke up, a strand of hair twirling anxiously around her finger. “I mean,” she amended, “It seems a little overkill for just one Kuwagumon.”
Several heads whipped in Mimi’s direction, her face warming with the sudden attention.
“It’s our duty as Chosen to defend our world,” Taichi chastised, Iori nodding along empathetically. “Don’t you remember what happened the last time we were divided?”
A shiver involuntarily ran down Hikari’s spine. Broken memories flooded into her mind’s eye unbidden, out of focus. Only Taichi could recall the past so unflinchingly.
Her brother’s voice droned in the background, recycling words of encouragement from previous battles.
By now, they had heard it all before; Taichi’s words had little effect on Mimi’s somber mood, only irritating her further.
“Instead of arguing, maybe we should, I don’t know, go fight the giant monster terrorizing the city? Just a suggestion.” Miyako’s temper had reared an ugly head, Mimi’s inflamed cheeks spurring her into action.
Tension, wound tight like a rubber band, stretched across the room. Hikari closed her eyes, a vein throbbing at her temple.
Ignoring Miyako’s outburst, Taichi started speaking again, but his voice had faded into a faint buzz behind his sister’s eyelids.
Slowly, the medicine took effect, the sharp edges of Hikari’s headache softening.
She hadn’t realized her brother was still talking until Koushiro cleared his throat. Opening her eyes, Hikari squinted against the fluorescent lights.
“We should probably get going,” the red head suggested, annoyance prickling at his brow. Though he had grown in the years she had known him, Hikari doubted that Koushiro would be able to truly stand up to Taichi.
The others murmured their agreements, gathering their things and securing their partners in their grasps.
Hikari stood, frail frame swaying by the couch.
“Are you okay?” Miyako asked, worry pursing at her lips.
The fluorescent lights seemed brighter than usual, the corners of Hikari’s vision still blurry. Her fists rubbed against her eyelids, blinking rapidly to refocus her eyes.
Blearily, Hikari looked up at Miyako’s form, her lavender hair a mere smudge. “What’s happening?” Hikari asked.
Footsteps clamored down the hallway, small bits of conversation floating through the doorway.
Carefully, Hikari reached for her bag, shouldering it before giving Miyako what she hoped was an encouraging smile.
“I’m fine,” she said. “I just got a bit distracted, is all. Let’s catch up with the others before they leave us behind.”
She blinked a few more times, praying for the blurriness to fade away. Icy tendrils of dread snaked around her stomach; her eyes wouldn’t focus.
Swallowing the lump in her throat, Hikari followed Miyako out of the room. With her heart pounding in her ears, it was difficult to hear the instructions her friend repeated, their battle plan suddenly forgotten.
Her shoes clicked against the linoleum tiles, click-clack, click-clack. They turned a corner, Hikari’s stomach rolling.
The girl next to her called out, urgency in her voice. Click-clack, click-clack. Sweat dripped down Hikari’s neck, her breath spilling from her lips in little pants.
“Hey, do we need to slow down? I’m sure the others wouldn’t mind if we were a little behind.” The lavender-haired girl said, her hand squeezing Hikari’s shoulders.
Chest heaving, Hikari yanked her arm out of the stranger’s grasp. “Who are you?” she asked.
The other girl’s eyebrows furrowed, eyes growing wide behind the lenses of her glasses. A sense of familiarity welled in the brunette’s chest, her body at ease despite her panic.
An apology bubbled at the tip of Hikari’s tongue, but she held it at bay; it wasn’t polite for strangers to grab you, no matter how friendly they look. The other girl’s breath was close enough to fan across her face,  the slight breeze cooling Hikari down.
Placing a hand on her own forehead, Hikari’s bottom lip caught itself between her teeth. She was warm.
“Are you playing a joke on me? Hikari, I appreciate the effort, but now isn’t the time.” The slight twinge of annoyance dripped from the strange girl’s words, her hand reaching for Hikari once more.
The brunette flinched, backing herself against the wall. "How do you know my name?” Hikari’s voice sounded shrill to her own ears, echoing in the nondescript hallway.
A pair of footsteps grew closer, the older girl snapping her head in its direction.
Unruly, auburn hair poked around the corner, another stir of familiarity rising in Hikari’s mind. Goggles glinted under the too-bright lights, blinding Hikari further. His face was soft with mirth, a playful tint shimmering in his eyes.
“What’s taking you guys so long? This Kuwagumon isn’t going to beat itself.”
His form was too far away for Hikari to make out, melding into an indistinct blob of brown and blue. “Ku-wa-gu-mon?” she whispered to herself, testing the word on her lips. A new wave of panic numbed the tips of her fingers as the girl from before gripped her forearm.
“Daisuke,” the girl began, “I think we have an issue.”
Eyes bleary, Hikari was hardly able to  discern the boy’s figure growing closer, the smell of his cologne permeating her senses. Waves of nausea rolled in her stomach.
“Hikari,” the boy - Daisuke, was it? -  began, voice low and gentle. “Are you alright?”
His face leaned into her space, his palm pressing against the sheen of sweat that adorned her forehead. “Shit, she’s burning up.”
“Who’s Hikari?” she asked, struggling against the strange girl’s grip. “Please, let me go. I want to go home.”
The girl’s grip only grew tighter, holding Hikari in place.
“Hikari, you’re scaring us. What’s going on? Is it the ocean, again?”
Nails dug into the flesh of her upper arm, the boy whispering something unintelligible.
“Who’s Hikari?” she tried again, body too warm and loud in the unfamiliar hallway. Something buzzed just behind her ears, a voice murmuring indistinctly. “Take me home,” Hikari murmured.
The fluorescents of the hallway dimmed, Hikari knees buckling under the pressure. With her eyes fluttered shut, the voice in her head grew louder, more commanding. “Come home,” it said. “Come home, Child of Light.”
Something warm wrapped around her, cradling Hikari against the cool, tile floor.
“Come home.”

17: What would i refuse to draw?

To Have and To Hold From This Day Forward: Chapter 1 - Falling For You
My first entry for Miyakari Autumn is here!!! Thank you so much to @sluggybasson107 and @digitalworldbound for putting this on, I have been SO excited!!! I'm starting with Day 2 but will be working on the other days next month once I've finished with some big priorities!
I have wanted to write this idea for a while and it all came to a head when I decided recently to make this entire fic based around a Digimon Emperor!Yolei and Gogglehead!Kari AU, and I'm so so so excited to share this first one with y'all because I am very happy with it, haha. I absolutely LOVE Miyakari and I'm glad I got hit by the Miyakari bug recently because these two girls are so wonderful and I love them with all my life. My daughters who are also wives.
Summary:
Kari Kamiya never expected to take over as the leader for a new group of Digidestined. She never expected that she would have to lead new and old friends into battle against another Digidestined that wants to take over the Digital World.
And she would have never in her wildest dreams expected to one day share a future and a life with her.
You can also find it on AO3 here!
---
No matter how much they did, how many spires they toppled, and how many Digimon they freed, the Digimon Emperor started right back up whenever they left the Digital World without fail. The fact that she didn’t need to worry about resting and could instead throw as many poor Digimon at them as she wanted without any concern simply caused anger to flare up in her chest even more as they approached a small mountainside village that had recently fallen under control of the Emperor.
TK flanked her and Davis covered the ground approach on Raidramon with Cody and Armadillomon in tow. She swallowed hard as they got closer, and snapped her goggles over her eyes. “TK, you go left, I’ll go right!” Kari shouted, trying her hardest to make sure she was heard over the harsh winds. She looked down and saw Raidramon coming up on the semi-fortified gate to the village, and knew that now was the time to strike. The Digimon in the village had them outnumbered, but with most of them being rookies and a handful of Centarumon backing them up, it seemed manageable. She didn’t want to fight them, but it was just until they could get the control spire down. They had been through much worse than this in the past few weeks, and they would free this village no matter what.
The crack of thunder screamed through the air as the wooden gate to the village shattered into splinters and Raidramon burst through. Cody and Armadillomon hopped off his back, and Cody wasted no time Armor Digivolving his partner into Digmon. So far, so good. There was no sign of the Control Spire, but there was also no sign of the Emperor.
“Rosetta Stone!”
“Star Shower!”
The two attacks launched towards a clumped up group of rookies and two Centarumon, the impact of thee stone slab against the ground stunning them before the stars broke the Dark Rings. She frantically looked around for the Control Spire, her eyes only catching thick forests and far off mountain peaks. As the sounds of Raidramon and Digmon shouting out their attacks rang in the air, Kari’s breathing started to speed up, the knowledge that Davis and Cody could get overwhelmed if they took too long leaving her on edge. There was a brief reflection of the sun’s harsh rays that glared against her goggles, and she pulled them up and shaded her eyes with her hand. Kari’s eyes widened as she saw just a hint of shiny black in the mountain range that she immediately recognized.
“She must have thought we wouldn’t be able to find it…” she mumbled to herself.
It was far out of the way and well hidden, and there was no way this wasn’t personally chosen by the Emperor to best maximize the space she controlled. Kari looked down at Davis and Cody.
“Hey! I found the Control Spire!” she shouted. Davis shot her a thumbs up and a grin.
“Kick its butt!” he shouted, “We’ll be fine down here!”
She hoped so.
Pegasusmon’s wings flapped as TK caught up to her.
“As soon as we knock that spire down, the Digimon in the village will be back to normal, let’s go,” Kari said, and Nefertimon sped off ahead.
“Hey, wait up!” TK shouted, and Pegasusmon flew after her, “Kari! Slow down!”
But no, she couldn’t slow down. She wanted to topple that tower as fast as possible, because these Digimon needed to be freed.
How could she be so cruel? To try and rule the Digital World with an iron fist without any care for the world or its inhabitants. How could she sleep at night? Kari could still barely believe she had her own partner.
How could she be so unlike the girl she met at school just a few weeks ago?
***
Even though she and the other DigiDestined had been working their butts off around the Digital World, gym class never seemed to get easier. Today they were running, and despite how she had managed to outrun a Unimon while being chased yesterday, this was somehow worse.
Kari managed to stick to the middle of the pack, and had been so focused on keeping a decent pace that she hadn’t noticed someone run up next to her. Their footsteps were in sync, and it was only once she finally noticed the extra noise that she turned her head, nearly letting out a yelp as a girl with lavender hair had seemed to pop out of nowhere. However, it didn’t take long to realize who it was: Yolei Inoue.
She was a year older than her, but Kari knew about her from all the positive things Izzy had to say about her from her involvement with the school’s computer club— especially about the fact that she was something of a whiz when it came to programming. He passed leadership on to her when he moved on to middle school, but still kept in touch with her frequently.
“All this running sucks, huh?” Kari asked between breaths. Maybe starting up a conversation would make the rest of the period go faster.
“Yeah, I hate it. I wish we could run inside or something, it’s getting too warm,” Yolei said, wiping a light sheen of sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand.
“You’re Kari Kamiya, right?” Yolei asked. Kari’s eyes widened as her eyes locked onto Yolei.
“Oh— yeah! How did you—”
“Your brother’s come into our store before. He’s talked about you a bunch,” she said, then nodded to the goggles that hung from Kari’s neck, “Plus I recognize your goggles.”
Kari looked down and laughed gently, “I guess they do make a statement.”
“They really do,” Yolei smiled. Kari suddenly felt flush, but shook her head. The heat must have been getting to her…
It was weird, but this was one of the first times in a while she really talked to another girl her age. Sure, Sora and Mimi were her friends, but the latter was in America and the former was busy with sports and school. She couldn’t exactly tag along with either of them that much, not when she was so busy in the Digital World.
At the same time, though, she felt a bit lost. Yolei was a little bit older than her, and she couldn’t help but feel out of her league. The gym teacher’s whistle rang through the air over at another track where the boys were running.
“I bet you’re usually pretty busy with computer club, huh?” Kari finally asked as they rounded the track.
“Yeah, but the vice president’s been handling a lot for me since I’ve had a lot to take care of after school,” she said.
“Oh! Are you helping out with your family’s store?” she asked.
“Mhm.”
Things went quiet between them, and Kari focused on not falling behind.
“You’re friends with Cody, right? I see you hanging out with him and that other guy a lot,” Yolei finally said. Kari blinked.
“Oh, yeah, him and Davis. Or do you mean TK?” she asked. She hadn’t realized Yolei seemed to notice her that much, but it sort of made sense— she had recognized her by her goggles, after all.
“I meant the loud one with the dark, spiky hair, but I guess both,” Yolei said. Kari started to laugh, which turned into a wheeze with how out of breath she had been getting.
“Yeah, he’s kind of a character,” Kari said, still smiling. “Cody’s a great kid, too— how do you know him?”
“We’ve been neighbors for years.”
“Well if you ever want to hang out, I’m sure Cody would be happy to hang out with you, too,” Kari offered.
“I’ll have to see,” she said, her voice suddenly sounding clipped. Kari felt herself shrink a bit as she looked over at the other girl, suddenly feeling so much smaller than she already was.
Kari focused straight ahead, her face suddenly burning as she couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.
Thankfully, the teacher blew their whistle again, signaling the students to finish, and the two girls skidded to a stop simultaneously. Kari plopped down on the ground, taking some time to catch her breath, then Yolei stepped in front of her, casting a much needed shadow over her. Kari looked up, and Yolei offered her a hand. Kari took an extra moment to rest, then grabbed Yolei’s hand to get up.
“I’m sure we’ll see each other a lot more,” Yolei said with a smile on her face.
Kari felt the heat get to her again and her cheeks flushed. She needed to get some water to try and cool off…
“Y-Yeah… I hope so.”
***
Her breathing sped up as the memory rolled through her mind. Bile rose in her throat and she had to choke it down as anger flooded her. All she could focus on now was the black obelisk just ahead, and destroying it.
“Kari!”
TK’s shout registered too late, and as Kari looked over at him, she saw a blade of air shooting up at her from the edge of her peripheral vision.
“Nefertimon, watch—!”
Although Nefertimon started to move right, the attack still slammed into Nefertimon’s left wing, causing her to spin and Kari to fall off.
“Kariiiiiiiiii!”
TK’s scream was distant as she plummeted. She clenched her eyes shut out of sheer fear, feeling the wind whip against her body before it suddenly stopped. Before she suddenly stopped. Kari hesitantly opened her eyes and looked around, only to be met with a pair of big, round lenses.
“So you’ve finally fallen for me, huh?”
The Emperor.
She was holding her in a princess carry as she rode atop an Airdramon that was flying just above the canopy of the forest below. Kari flushed and glared at Yolei.
“Why did you catch me?” she asked harshly. The Digimon Emperor raised an eyebrow, then tilted her head and smiled.
“And let you fall?”
“It would get rid of a lot of your problems,” Kari spat. Yolei gasped in faux offense.
“But then I wouldn’t be able to see you, and I do so enjoy our meetings,” Yolei grinned.
Despite the intense wind and the harsh chill that came from it, Kari felt her face heat up intensely even as she shivered.
“I told you we’d see each other a lot more, and I intend on making sure that stays true. It’d be a shame if I lost out,” she added.
“So you’re doing this all just to… to see me more?” Kari asked, jaw dropped in disbelief.
Yolei cackled and shook her head, “Oh, I didn’t realize you had such an ego, Kamiya.”
“I-It’s not an ego…” Kari trailed off quietly.
It wasn’t lost on the brunette that she was still being held so gently by the Emperor. It was unnerving, and the more she thought about it the more her heart sped up.
“No, seeing you is just one of the many joys of it all,” she added
“Why are you doing all of this?” Kari asked. Despite how angry she was, her voice came out as little more than a weak, indignant squeak against her foe.
“I told you, because I truly do enjoy our time together, as rare as it is.”
That caused Kari’s flush to deepen and her brow to furrow, “N-Not that! I meant taking over the Digital World! Hurting all these innocent Digimon! Why would you want to do this!?” she shouted.
In an instant Yolei’s expression became impassive. She looked over her shoulder, seeing the small dot that was Pegasusmon’s attempt to approach the Control Spire and her minions. “You wouldn’t understand.”
“Then tell me so I can understand!” Kari begged.
Yolei scoffed, slowly turning to look back down at Kari, “No,” she said simply. Kari couldn’t stop herself from tearing up. But even that wasn’t enough to stir Yolei.
Her cape whipped in the wind which was the only sound around them.
“Even if I told you, would that change anything?” she finally asked.
“O-Of course it—”
“Of course it wouldn’t,” Yolei interrupted immediately, “We would still be enemies. You and your friends would still hate me. What would be the point?”
Kari was speechless, her face crestfallen as she looked up at the Emperor.
No, she wasn’t the Emperor… it felt like this was the best look at Yolei Inoue she had ever gotten. Her heart ached.
“If we were enemies you wouldn’t have caught me, or-or you would’ve dropped me already,” Kari said, her voice cracking.
“I already told you, I enjoy you too much to stop our little games of cat and mouse.”
That cool, confident aura came back in an instant, and it seemed impenetrable.
Maybe there was no way to get her to realize why this was all so horrible.
Maybe there was no getting through to her.
Maybe there wasn’t even someone to get through to.
Kari didn’t want to believe that there wasn’t a good side of Yolei somewhere. Somewhere, deep down, there just had to be. Even if the others thought otherwise, she couldn’t believe it was as simple as that.
Even if it was becoming harder and harder to think it, Kari still wanted to believe it with all of her heart.
There had to be good in Yolei Inoue.
“Cat’s Eye Beam!”
Two red hot lasers sailed right by Yolei, missing by only a few feet. Yolei clenched her jaw as she saw it from her peripheral vision.
“It’s a shame that our time together is up again,” she sighed, not wistful or playful, but genuine.
“Kari!”
Before Kari could say anything, TK, Pegasusmon, and Nefertimon started to approach, flanking Airdramon on both sides.
“Put her down right now!” Nefertimon shouted.
“You’re not getting away with her!” TK followed up.
The look on Yolei’s face was… smug. Confident.
Like she knew she would be able to get away with her.
Kari’s stomach churned again.
“Well, my dear,” Yolei started, “I guess it’s time to say goodbye yet again.”
Nefertimon sped up, now flying next to Airdramon.
“You know, Takaishi, if you try and shoot me down, she’ll go, too! Be careful!” she taunted, laughing after. Kari could practically feel TK’s anger despite the distance.
Yolei let her down gently, and Kari looked at her with sad eyes, before she took a breath and jumped. Nefertimon managed to maneuver herself for Kari to land on her in time.
“Silver Blaze!”
Pegasusmon fired an emerald beam from his forehead directly at Airdramon, but it zoomed up, dodging just in the nick of time. TK and Pegasusmon stopped next to Kari and Nefertimon, watching as Aidramon twisted in the air to face them. Yolei looked down at them.
“It was fun, but I really must be going. I have big plans to work on,” she said, that playful tone seeping back into her voice. She then brought her hand to her mouth and blew a kiss to Kari in an exaggerated manner, then waved with her fingers.
“Goodbye, my darling and your merry band of fools! I can’t wait to square off again! Ohohohohoho!”
Kari was still, quiet, trying to keep a stony expression but unable to hide the way her face was becoming redder by the moment. TK’s knuckles were turning white with how hard he was clenching his hands.
“Blue Thunder!”
Another attack shot up, this time from the ground, as a large ball of lightning sped towards Airdramon. Airdramon flapped its wings, causing the attack to dissipate, and the harsh gust nearly caused Nefertimon and Pegasusmon to spin away.
Without another word, Yolei flew away, still standing on Airdramon’s head. Nefertimon and Pegasusmon slowly landed, and Kari offered a weak smile to Davis and Cody.
“I’m so sorry I went off ahead without you all,” she said sheepishly, “I saw the Control Spire and I thought if I could take it down, then we could be done.” Once again she got ahead of herself and was more focused on finishing the job than doing it safely.
Tai wouldn’t have done that. Even if her brother could be rash, the safety of the group under his watch was always paramount. She was barely treading water in comparison.
“Kari, it’s ok. You don’t have to apologize, we came out of it ok,” TK said, offering her a lopsided smile. That smile didn’t offer her much reprieve in those moments, though.
“Even though TK is right, it’s important that we’re more careful next time,” Cody said. She knew Cody didn’t mean to lecture her, it was just a reminder of her mistake. A mistake that was so obvious in hindsight, but her tunnel vision left her so dead set on the immediate victory that seemed just in reach.
She wished she could just set all that guilt aside, but it was going to stay with her for a long time, she knew it. Even if they took down the Control Spire and helped the village, it could’ve gone so wrong. Someone could’ve gotten hurt.
“Where does that stupid Digimon Emperor get off trying to kidnap you, anyways!? Ugh, she’s the worst,” Davis huffed. He folded his arms and pouted, now glaring up at the sky
“She wasn’t always like this…” Cody mumbled, “I wonder what caused her to change… or if she was always like this.”
Kari looked up at the sky, holding her hand up to her heart. Yolei was long gone by now, probably planning some new way to ambush them. She was starting to add more forces to major areas she wanted to hold onto, and they’d have to push hard to try and free those sections from her control. If Yolei was able to separate her from the group, then those excursions would probably be doomed in an instant. There was going to be a lot of planning and preparation in the upcoming days…
A hand on her shoulder caused her to jump in place. Her eyes went wide and she started to pant.
“Whoa! I’m sorry, you were zoned out there, so I wanted to let you know we were thinking about heading back,” TK said.
Kari let out a long, relieved exhale, “Yeah… yeah that’s a good idea. Sorry, just a lot on my mind.”
“Let’s head back then! We deserve to relax!” Davis whooped.
But even still, Kari couldn’t tear her eyes away from the horizon, where the Digimon Emperor lay in wait somewhere out there.
She could feel her heart speed up again, as a rush of butterflies started to swarm in her stomach. So many of the things that had happened during this trip to the Digital World slotted together perfectly. Neurons lit up, causing a light bulb to shine as bright as the sun in her brain.
“…Oh no.”
