(disclaimer, i know like nothing about hypothermia apart from a little bit of research i did for this so please don't take my medical advice as sound lol. i also wasn't around for smp earth so i'm either guessing or taking information from the wiki so please forgive me if anything is inaccurate. i'm trying my best)

Phil tries not to worry, he really does. He knows Techno can handle himself, Phil has seen him hold his own against many of opponents with ease. But Phil knows Techno gets cold easily. He would never admit it out loud but Phil knows Techno shivers when out on longer missions and when it gets too cold. Phil wouldn’t dream of ever pointing it out, just makes sure the piglin hybrid has extra layers and maybe a bit more fluff then other coats.

Techno left a few hours ago to get more resources, Phil wasn’t exactly paying attention to what he was getting just that he would be gone for an hour, two tops in the mines. It had been three hours now and a snowstorm was starting to pick up, Phil had tried to push down his worry. Techno lost track of time often, it wasn't unlike him to stay up late working or to forget to eat when he lost himself in his work. But a part of Phil was still telling him to at least check on Techno, probably his parental instincts. So Phil reasoned even if Techno was okay he could at least help him with his work and the two of them could finish faster, Techno usually doesn't mind the company.

The Antarctic was mostly devoid of resources so Phil began flying to their land in Africa, Techno was most likely there and even if this trip was really for nothing at least Phil got the chance to stretch is wings a bit, even if it was through a storm, a bit of a challenge every now and then made sure he never lost his touch.

However, Phil didn't get very far. His eyesight was better than the average human thanks to his avian genes, even if it often made him have trouble seeing glass. He spotted Techno in the snow, the bit of red and pink standing out against the snow. Phil turned around quickly, losing his speed and momentum to land beside Techno. However alarm started to raise in him as he got closer, it looked like Techno was laying in the snow.

As Phil landed, he tried to keep himself from panicking, Techno was always a bit eccentric, maybe he had just laid in the snow? Phil made his way over and shook Techno, "Techno? Hey mate?" but Techno didn't move. Okay now Phil can panic a bit, he ripped off one of his gloves and laid the back of his hand against Techno's face. His skin was freezing and his breath was shallow. Fuck, fuck, Phil quickly removed his coat and cloak bundling Techno in them as best he could as he picked him up. He wasn't exactly light, but the base was only a couple meters away so Phil could make it easily. It would be a bit faster to fly, but he didn't want to jar Techno anymore then he already was by carrying him.

Phil made it to the base as quick as he could, not as quick as he would have wanted but it will have to do. He carefully laid Techno on the couch in front of the fireplace, he stoked the fire and walked back over to Techno. Only Techno’s coat was slightly damp so Phil carefully took it off of him and wrapped him in his own coat and cloak again. He spent the next few minutes stumbling around the base for more blankets to wrap Techno in, only resting when he was sure Techno was wrapped in every blanket in the base. Phil knew he would have to monitor Techno's breathing until it came steadily again so he got the supplies he would need when Techno would wake up, a bottle of water and soup in a thermos to keep it warm, and pulled a chair up beside the couch making sure he wasn't blocking any of the heat from the fire. Phil finally let out the breath he has been holding since he found Techno and readied himself for a long night.

Techno woke up surrounded by warmth, anyone else would have probably found it too hot but the piglin hybrid reviled in the warmth. As Techno pushed his face into the soft blankets surrounding him he tried to remember how he got into this situation, he had gone mining for more materials for the empire, just basic stuff they would need. Techno had been exhausted from mining and the cold had been more biting then usual, he vaguely remembered at the time Phil had told him he thought a storm was brewing and to return home before it started. But how was he here? All he could remember was walking through the snow back to the base. Techno picked his head up from his cocoon of blankets and spotted Phil sitting in a chair beside him, Phil was fast asleep leaning against the back of the chair but it was then that Techno realized one of Phil's wings was laid over his chest on top of the blankets.

Techno didn't like to wake Phil for no reason, both of them knew how hard the other worked to keep the empire going and how little sleep the two got, but he reasoned he needed to figure out what was going on. Techno shuffled up so he was sitting up and leaning against the back of the couch, he moved Phil's wing to the man’s side and shook him awake carefully, "Phil?"

The avian hybrid stirred easily, shooting up in alarm, his feathers ruffling behind him, his attention was immediately on Techno, "Techno? You're awake, how do you feel mate?"

"Warm and confused," Techno spoke bluntly, "maybe a bit sore."

"Warm? Warm is good," Phil said and he let out a sigh of relief, "How much do you remember?"

Techno grumbled a bit, but answered, "I went mining for more materials, I was coming home in the storm and that's it. What happened?"

Phil gave him a worried look and if it was anyone else Techno would have gave them a cold stare back, he didn't need their worry but well he could let some things go for Phil, "I found you in the snow barely conscious with hypothermia," Phil explained turning to the side and grabbing a water bottle and a thermos from the side table, "Here's some water and if you can stomach it I have soup."

Suddenly, Techno realized how hungry and thirsty he was. He took the water from Phil and drank all of it before taking the thermas from him, he drank the soup carefully as Phil watched closely. Normally Techno would have swatted the older man away, Phil was a worrywart he was always checking up on Techno and it completely contrasted his chaotic 'Angel of Death' side that would air strike without warning and take down enemies with no remorse. Though he reasoned Phil was just like him, loyal and soft to the people close to him and cold to anyone else.

Techno finished the soup and Phil took the thermas from him setting it on the side table beside the water bottle and gave Techno a look, Techno had started calling it the 'dad' look, "Techno, you need to be more careful."

Techno sighed, Phil was right. Techno pushed himself beyond his limits constantly, to become stronger, to make the empire stronger, to take over the world. Phil had often called him dedicated and Techno wasn't one to disagree with Phil. However, that didn't mean that Techno didn't want to argue, he needed to constantly work or the empire would lose its strength. If he didn't push himself they could be left vulnerable, but as Techno went to open his mouth to voice his arguments Phil had crossed his arms and had his 'dad' look on.

"Techno, I'm here as well. Pass some things on to me or we can do them together. You can take more breaks without sacrificing your progress," Phil said, using his stern 'dad' tone that Techno often heard him use with Wilbur when he visited.

Phil was right, as always, "Okay," Techno agreed and Phil gave him a smile. Phil held out his arms and Techno let himself lean into them.

Phil wrapped his arms and wings around Techno and reached one hand up to pet his hair, "Okay then," He said. Techno had never felt more safe in his life, wrapped in his pseudo-father’s arms the warmth of his wings a calming comfort. When the two finally pulled apart he spoke again, "Are you still hungry?"

Techno nodded so Phil got up from his chair, stretching out as he walked into the kitchen. Techno pulled up the blankets he was wrapped around and shifted so his back was on the back of the couch. He brought the blankets up farther and snuggled into them, there was nowhere he would rather be right now, cuddled in the warmth of the blankets with Phil humming in the kitchen.
