Hi Folks! 🍀
Did I actually draw some new pic...? It seems so ahah.
Happy St Partick's Day!🍀
I came across @severusish #snaintpatricksday tag and the prompt "Felix Felicis" (which is the one for today, March 17th) inspired me. I know I didn't take part for any other prompt of the challenge, but I hope it can be considered my only contribution. ♡
I immediately thought about drawing young Severus, because I obviously wanted green on my palette. Green is my favorite color, but I felt more comfortable blending it with yellow as I didn't want to make something too aquatic or blueish. I had more trouble with choosing the style that would fit the best. At first, I wanted to make an illustration that somehow looked like the one I did last december with Severus and Lily picking flowers in the woods.
Obviously, it didn't turn exactly the way I intended. I used ink anyway, what I don't do systematically. As I'm just done coloring it, I don't know how to feel about the result just yet. Lol. Only time will tell.
I know there are a lot of parts I didn't get correctly tho. I wasn't using references for the position so...
I hope you'll like it despite its many flaws! 🍀
Why is Severus brewing Felix Felicis anyway? Does he intend to undertake some especially challenging business?
(I hope it has nothing to do with Dark stuff...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ps: I made a sketch for the prompt "Ridikkulus". I didn't developp it by lack of time, but maybe I'll do something out of it. ;) I didn't combine the two prompts this time, I initially wanted but it would have been too messy.

Snaint Patrick’s Day 3: Serendipity / A Lucky Break
@snaintpatricksday Look, it’s not sad! :D
This is possibly the prologue to an epistolary AU I might write someday, but on its own I think it answers the prompt pretty well. Severus meets Fleamont Potter, who recognizes his potions genius and offers him a job. This is complicated, on all sides, by Snape’s Worst Memory happening between him accepting the summer position and him actually starting. (1400 words, so it’s behind a cut.)
Monte managed to extricate himself from another gushing sycophant with at least a modicum of politeness. Effy wouldn’t have any reason to scold.
His eye was caught by his son, sneaking out the door with his friend. James must have felt his father’s gaze on him; he glanced over, gave a cocky grin, and was gone.
Monte smiled to himself. He would’ve loved to get away from this sort of event when he was James’ age, but his parents would never have let him. Well, at least his potions company meant that their family finally had enough standing to be some of the elite; James didn’t have to smooze his way up the ladder. He was free to spend time with whoever he liked. Even if who he liked was a Black boy and two nobodies.
He dragged his attention back to the other guests. Slughorn’s little gatherings were always excruciating, but he’d gone along with Effy’s demands for more reasons than just her insistence that they owed it to someone-or-other. His most promising apprentice was going to be in St. Mungo’s for at least six months, and she’d made it clear that she wasn’t coming back. He was running out of options, and Slughorn did know all the up-and-coming potioneers, Monte had to give him that.
“Ah, Mr. Potter!”
“Think of the devil,” Monte muttered under his breath as Slughorn bustled up to him, all smiles.
“How’s the beauty business?” Slughorn asked with a laugh.
Monte gave him a thin smile. He’d worked too hard to build a name for himself to resent the fact that it was in beauty potions - except when someone like Slughorn thought it was worth a joke.
“Well, we’re finding some very interesting results with jewel beetle shells. Did you realize that grinding them with differently shaped mortars produces different levels of iridescence? The underlying reactive properties are affected, too; if you mix it with liquid silk…”
He took malicious pleasure into going into detail about potions ingredient interactions and the possible effects. For all that Slughorn was a capable potions master, he had no real interest in the art. The desire to experiment, and the sense of which experiments were worth pursuing, were abilities that were sadly difficult to find in his students. Or anywhere, perhaps, but Monte preferred to blame Sluggy for his difficulties.
“Yes, of course,” Slughorn finally managed to break in when Monte was forced to pause for breath. “I was just talking about something similar to my OWL students, wasn’t I, Miss Evans?”
He beckoned to a pretty young redhead Monte had noticed lingering nearby during his rambling speech. He wanted to roll his eyes at the barefaced play for an introduction, but Effy caught his eye, and he forced a polite smile. “Hello, there.”
“Mr. Potter, Miss Evans is one of my most promising OWL students. Miss Evans, Mr. Potter is the founder of Sleekeazy's, you know. I’m sure you will get along famously! Now, I must be off to see to some of my other guests.”
As he hurried off, Monte gave the interloper a hard look. She blushed, and he half-expected her to mumble an excuse and hurry off. But instead, she lifted surprisingly green eyes and met his gaze clearly.
“I apologize for eavesdropping, sir, but my friend and I have been experimenting with different grinding methods for beetle shells and when I heard you talking about it…” She shrugged, as if to say, What else could I do?
Monte had to admit, his curiosity was piqued. But he was too accustomed to the wiles of people interested in his business or his money to accept the explanation at face value. “Oh, really? What have you found works best with the horn of a rhinoceros beetle?”
Somewhat to his surprise, she answered easily, and continued to keep up with the questions he threw at her. Only when he started pushing her for details of her ‘experiments’ did she start to falter, and that with a laugh.
“You really have to talk to Severus about that part. I’m more interested in Charms, really, and when he gets off into theoretical interactions and inhibitors and all that, I tend to just smile and nod.” Her grin invited him to share the joke.
“Is he here tonight?” Monte had to ask, looking around.
“Severus? Oh, no. He…” She hesitated. “Sir, would you like to meet him? He’s just down the hall in the lab. He would love to hear what you’re doing with jewel beetles.”
It took only a second to decide. Of course, Effy would scold him for running out on the party early, but he’d already determined that there was no one there worth talking to. And this Severus certainly sounded interesting - though if it was just the result of the girl’s infatuation, he’d be frustrated.
Less frustrated than by this insipid party, though. He smiled down at her. “Lead the way, Miss Evans.”
She took him, not to the student lab he expected, but down a side corridor. He hesitated, but before he could ask any questions, she pushed open a door to let out cloud of potions’ smoke and the curses of a potioneer interrupted in creation - albeit with a much more lowerclass accent than he was used to.
“You feckless gawby, look what you’ve done!” he made out as he followed Miss Evans into the room.
She had already crossed to a makeshift potions bench and was looking over the shoulder of a tall, blackhaired boy.
“Oh, quit moaning, it’s fine,” she said, her own accent losing several degrees of class. “You don’t have to have every bit identical.”
“Do you even remember what we’re trying to do here?” he snapped, carefully sifting through the contents of his mortar.
“No, but I’ve brought someone who will.”
That brought the boy’s head snapping up, and Monte saw a narrow, sallow face with deepset eyes scowling at him. “Who’re you?”
“Be polite!” Evans hissed, shoving him. “I’m sorry, sir. He..”
“Doesn’t want people mucking about in my lab,” the boy cut her off. “You can just…”
“I quite understand,” Monte interrupted suavely. The contents of the lab bench were fascinating, well worth his time cultivating this lad. “I hate when people interrupt me in the middle of ingredients preparation as well. Far too few people understand the importance of proper technique and concentration at the early stages. Is that staghorn beetle there? And a faceted pestle? A potion for the mind, then?”
The boy looked at him oddly for a moment. Then he abruptly straightened, and his language took on a polished edge that was obviously forced on him, probably by his housemates. “Yes, I’m working on adapting Dreamless Sleep at present.”
“Really? That potion is notoriously resistant to adaptations.”
The boy scowled at him. “I know.”
“-Which makes it all the more fascinating that you should try,” Monte continued as if he hadn’t spoken. “You don’t seem to be someone who throws in random changes to see what happens.” If he was, he was of no use to Monte.
That was enough to set the boy off. He began lecturing about the common theories about why the potion was unresponsive to most changes, the problems with those theories, the theoretical ways around those problems, the changes he’d tried, and so on. Monte started by throwing in provocative questions, trying to trip him up, but at some point - he wasn’t even sure when - the boy’s ideas drew him in and he began sharing some of his own theories of ingredient interactions and the stabilizing steps. The boy seized on these eagerly and immediately began building on them.
They were both at the lab bench, examining the results of a botched potion and arguing about what had caused the explosion, when Effy tracked him down.
“Monte!”
“In a minute, dear. Now, if we had added the elixir-”
“No, the whole problem was the formula of the elixir! We have to change-”
“Wait, the lavender is necessary-”
“Not if-”
“FLEAMONT!”
Wincing, Monte looked up. “Effy darling, if you’ll just…”
“Absolutely not.” She grabbed him by the arm. “We are leaving. Now.”
There was no point in arguing. He glanced over his shoulder as she towed him to the door. “I’ll owl you. What’s the direction?”
“Severus Snape. Slytherin House.”

The Shamrock pub
Severus Snape was stood at his lab desk in his office at the Max Planck Institute for Magical Research in Munich. It was a nice office with large windows and high ceilings, as was typical in this part of town. He was looking out into the unusually sunny March afternoon when someone knocked at his door.
“Come in.” He shouted
It was Michael, one of his German co-workers.
“Hi Severus, a couple of us are thinking about going out for drinks to celebrate the first day of our new colleague up in Charms research and we wanted to ask if you would maybe like to join us?”
“I don’t know, got a lot to do still. Is it okay if I join later?”
“Yeah sure, that’s totally alright. We’ll be at the Shamrock Irish pub, in Gisela Street that’s not far from here. It’s actually just down the road on the right. Okay I’ll leave you to your work then, maybe see you later?”
“Hmm.”
He spent the remainder of his day working on his latest invention and when the sun started to go down, he got ready to leave. Finding the Irish pub wasn’t difficult at all, and he arrived in front of an unassuming light blue house in the typical Munich style rather quickly. He went inside and followed down a flight of stairs to the actual barroom, a room with low ceilings and brown brick walls as well as some wood panelling. The ceiling and bar were decorated with little shamrock paperchains and the tables were decked with green tablecloths, probably because Saint Patrick’s Day was fast approaching. The room was already packed with people who were enjoying their drinks. Most people were crowded in the further back where a ping-pong table and a darts board were located. Severus looked around trying to spot his colleagues and found Michael waving at him from a corner table on the left. He walked up there quickly while starting to shed himself of his outer wear.
“Severus how nice of you to join us.” Michael smiled at him, “May I introduce you to Hermione our now research fellow in the Charms department.”
A young woman, who had previously been turned away from him turned her head around and Severus was shocked to discover non other than Hermione Granger looking up at him.
“I’m afraid an introduction won’t be necessary, Michael, Miss Granger and I already know each other.”
“Oh right of course, I sometimes forget you used to work at Hogwarts, Severus.”
“So, you’re working in our Charms department now Miss Granger?” Severus said while sitting down at the table.
“Please call me Hermione, sir.”
“Only if you call me Severus.”
“Done. And yes, I’m researching the long-term effects charms have on objects that have been under the influence of them. And I’m thinking about extending that study onto humans once I’ve made some further progress. And you, Severus, what are you researching.”
“I’m focussing on healing potions at the moment, but I have been doing miscellaneous research projects since my arrival here”
“Oh, how long have you been here exactly?”
“About four years, moved here in 1999.”
“Oh, I hadn’t realised you have been gone from Britain for so long.”
“Yeah, didn’t want to make a big fuss about it.”
They kept talking and drinking until very late in the evening. Severus really enjoyed Hermione’s company and they ended up ignoring their colleagues for most of the evening. When they got up to leave Snape approached Hermione.
“Hey, umm would you like me to walk you home? It’s quite dark already and I wouldn’t feel comfortable knowing that you’re out there alone.”
“Umm yeah sure. Do you mind if we walk trough the English Garden? I live right at the edge on the other side, and it would make for a good shortcut.”
“Oh yeah sure.”
They made their way down the street until they reached the edge of the park area where he let Hermione take the lead. While they walked Severus kept staring at Hermione the light moonlight making him realise how beautiful she had become over the years. They kept talking while they were walking and it wasn’t until they crossed one of the bridges crossing one of the little channels that flowed through the park that Hermione turned to him with quite the serious look in her face.
“Okay, umm I have a confession to make to you and I hope you won’t be mad. The reason I chose to come to Munich was you, I wanted to be near you again.”
Severus looked at her with a look of surprise and asked “Why?”
“Because I’ve fallen in love with you.”
Severus kept staring at her.
“Oh, I’ve gone and cocked everything up now, haven’t I? We were having fun as colleagues and maybe friends and now I’ve scared you.” She looked at him with despair in her eyes.
“You haven’t scared me Hermione, just surprised me really. I liked tonight and if I’m being honest, I’ve noticed you have changed. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I love you, but I surely find you attractive and who knows, maybe if we spent more time together, I could come to love you.”
“Yeah maybe. Listen, would it be totally weird if I kissed you right now?” “No, no go ahead.”
And with that Hermione planted her lips on his. It wasn’t a perfect kiss, but it was still nice. They continued standing on the small bridge for some time until they eventually continued their way to her house.
THE END
Author's note: I apologise because I realise now that the prompt word appears exactly twice in the whole text and that the whole thing has very little to do with Saint-Patrick's Day but yeah here we are. This was inspired by my parents' first meeting, though it plays out a little differently after the pub. The Max Planck Institute is a real Institution with several institutes all over Germany and we have a lot of them in Munich. But the position of the Institute in the story was actually inspired by my University. I also know I'm late but my excuse for that is, that I really doubted myself about this yesterday.

Snaint Patrick’s Day March 13: Springtime/ New Beginnings
@snaintpatricksday I couldn’t avoid a bit of hope with this prompt - but it’s not very much
Takes place the spring of Severus’ first year as Potions master, about 3-4 months after Lily’s death.
CW: reference to drug use and suicidal ideation
Windflowers (Wood Anemones)
Severus gripped his cloak tighter around his neck and leaned into the wind, grumbling. It might be spring by the calendar, trees might be putting out leaf buds, but the wind was still as bitter as any January night.
If Dumbledore didn’t scrutinize the Potions ingredients orders so carefully, he wouldn’t have to do this. But the potions he wanted the willow fungus for would not get the Headmaster’s approval.
Even if they were the only thing keeping him going, when he would much rather be dead.
Lost in dark thoughts, he only realized that the wind had stopped when he unconsciously shoved his cloak back to keep from getting overheated. Bright beams of light filtered through the branches here, adding to the feeling of warmth. Of course. First his cloak wasn’t warm enough, now it was too heavy. Typical.
He found a willow grove and looked for a good place to set his cloak and basket. He started to drop them off to the side, only to catch them with the tips of his fingers as his eyes focused on the splash of pink in the shadows.
He leaned down closer to see the three tiny windflowers peeking up through the loam. Not really knowing why, he carefully set his things down where they wouldn’t crush the delicate blooms.
The walk back to the castle was as miserable as the walk out had been, and when Minerva asked him at dinner how his day off had been, he snarled at her. But it surprised him to realize that, had there been anyone who actually cared about him to ask, his first thought would have been, I saw early windflowers today.
