A brand new pack of @chai_walli 11 Spice Chai manifested on the doorstep today - just in time, because the last lot is almost gone. In iso, we've formed a habit of taking chai at 4pm (almost) every day. It was so dank.and foggy this morning, lighting the fire was the only reasonable thing to do. Also, I found a spot for the Big Shiny Pot @snapfishaunz canvas print (of a painting I did on a piece of cardboard). The colours sit nicely with the @jocelynproustdesigns fabric on the cushion! I did the patchwork cushion in the 4th image with Australian flora prints I'd had stashed for years. What took me so long? And I took pics of a plate of autumn fruit with intentions of making a painting, just not today. Good things - my quince tree provided a LOT of fruit this year. Here are the biggest and (maybe) the smallest - just over 1kg between them. The post brought me a canvas print of a painting I did before Christmas. It was on cardboard and used whatever paint was left from the grandkids art session, and was inspired by the Big Shiny Pot in a painting by Pedro Alexandrino, which Banjo was obsessed with. Luckily I'd taken photo, because the original got lost. I'm going to be away from home this Christmas (Granny time, so that's okay!), but I had to have at least a tiny tree to get in the mood. Four pm is Chai O'clock in our house, with rare exceptions. Monty was named Moses, after a James Herriot story originally, but Mum thought Monty was a better cat name when he went to live with them. He became my Dad's cat - he's often say he was the best present ever and there was a respond between them. Monty outlived Dad by over 3 years, and it was a big blow for Mum to have to say goodbye to Dad's favourite- so I've collected photos of him to make her a book with @snapfishaunz. I made a wall calendar with @snapfishaunz again this year. Last year was "Cacti, Kids & Cats"; for this year's, "Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder", I put images of rust and peeling paint alongside grids and grilles - all taken at Marshall's open day - and flowers from my garden. December is devoted to grandkids though. My mum couldn't make it to Cairns for Simon's wedding to @x_justjay_x in June so I took plenty of photos, switching between the phone and the "real" camera. Consequently it took a long time and three or four attempts to get them into chronological order in a photo book from @snapfishaunz ! We picked up the book from the p.o. this morning and it looks great, if I can say so myself. I used some photos from Cairns Botanical Gardens for backgrounds on some spreads, for local colour. I had such a nice time chatting with old and new friends over food - and with this view, until the sun went - I hadn't even noticed how late it was. 😏 Happy New Calendar! I made two different calendars with @snapfishaunz - Commer desk calendar, with lots of pics of taken of the rusty, lichen covered Commer truck that my father bought in the mid 1950s, and a wall calendar, Cacti, Kids & Cats which features the three grandkids, a number of family cats, and cacti, some from our own garden, some @cactuscountry - an awesome place for photography, even if you're not a huge fan of prickles! We had Morgen in our lives for most of her 16 years, and now she's gone - she didn't wake up yesterday morning. I'm going to do a photo book on @snapfishaunz , which will be a challenge because there will be too many pics to choose from. She's buried near Molly, our mad little foxie cross and I'll be looking for some plant with "morgen" in its name to grow there. There has to be something, since it means "morning". I've done a little reshuffle of the living room gallery wall, to accommodate the Nan Burke that the open shop gods has granted me, plus my @hannakinart prints, and a Philadelphia Hanson-Viney "Skull Jar" print that is still waiting for a suitable frame. About half of the work on the wall is mine. I wish it didn't include the TV! I got the family photo collage canvas print from @snapfishaunz for my 60th a couple of years ago. I have no particular interest in canola crops, apart from how incredible they look - Golden Canola textile collage - done with tutelage by @margieandbert , now framed, and Australia Felix, a photo taken on a Landcare trip to see Tucker's windfarm, printed on canvas by @snapfishaunz . I'm going to need a bigger tree next year if I keep getting porcelain ornaments with the grandkids on them from @snapfishaunz (because I will...).
