Back from the dead with a very late Six Sentence Sunday.

I've not had chance to write much recently (mental health is really doing a number on me) but I had to squeeze some words out for fear of forgetting how to do it. Of course, that meant writing a load of morose musings from tragic sad boy Baz's pov. Fortunately for you guys, I'm keeping that to myself for now.

This expert is part of chapter 3 of Snow On Ice.

Simon The first time I stepped onto the ice at the Watford rink, I had no idea who Baz Pitch was. That is, until he skated past me so fast I lost my footing and fell over backwards, landing on my arse hard enough I felt the bruise in my coccyx for days.  The git didn’t even look back to apologise. He hadn’t even noticed. Like he was so above me in every way that could possibly matter, it hadn’t occurred to him he’d done anything that warranted regret at all.  I immediately hated him.

I can guarantee Baz has a different take on this. Does he compare Simon to a Pre-Raphaelite depiction of Eros? Maaaaybee.

Anyho, thanks to all you lovely chaps who keep tagging me in the fun things, even though I quietly fell off the face of the earth for a little while (balancing on a sphere is hard, right?). i think its a little underappreciated that grrm allows his main characters to be disabled and hurt. tyrion's dwarfism and bran's paralysis are obvious but also dany's infertility?? jon's pains and scarring after he burns his hand fighting the Others?? ned's broken leg plagues him for months and the scars on cat's palms consistently ache and phantom pains haunt jaime through out asos and the arrow brienne took to her leg does actual harm instead of just leaving a neat scar and when biter chews off brienne's cheek she's visibly disfigured afterwards. theres no brushing over any of their injuries and all of them are consistently affecting them even after they heal. or don't heal. lady stoneheart and beric dondarrion carry their injuries even after they die. the gashes on stoneheart's face stay even when she comes back and beric never regains his eye. dany stays infertile thats not something that can be reversed. the same way tyrion's injuries after the battle of the blackwater cant be reversed and jon's scars can't be erased bc at the end of the day when ur disabled theres no cure for that. u just have to Deal with it no matter how difficult it is and i think its nice when fictional characters still find a way to push through it the same way we do

This is likely too chaotic to be classed as a Six Sentence Sunday post, but I promise to throw in a few Snow On Ice sentences somewhere!

I've lost track of who has tagged me recently, but I've really appreciated reading some of my lovely moots' life updates. Its a good reminder that we all have highs and lows and when we talk about it we can get a little comfort and reassurance from this lovely community. I'm sorry some of you have been having a rough time. Sending hugs to you all.

I am never concise so my life update (of sorts), pics and sentences are under the cut.

Happy International Dawn Chorus Day! Niche I know, but I used to work for an arts and wildlife organisation and had to get up at 4am once to record the sunrise and the dawn chorus. After getting over the shock of being up and outside so early, it was actually a really lovely thing to celebrate. I've been sleeping terribly recently, so I was awake at 4:30 this morning anyway. Got up and sat in my parents' garden for 10 mins listening to the birds and it felt special, if a little less glorious since the clouds hid the sunrise. Here's a recording of today's dawn chorus in Norfolk, UK:

Forever WIP: Me I had a (very) minor surgery earlier this week to have a small but painful lump taken off my bicep. I've never experienced such a procedure before and it was very interesting being awake in an operating theatre (I had a local anaesthetic) getting to talk to the surgeons while they worked. (I was proud of myself for being so chill, tbh.) Since then I have been resting my achy body and my sluggish brain, forbidden from doing any heavy lifting or exercise, while trying not to stress about all the work I need to get done before running my stall at London Comic Con later this month. I showered yesterday with my arm wrapped in a plastic bag and it felt like a big achievement. (This is like a bizarre practice run for one day having top surgery!)

Some (sort of) sentences Snow On Ice Chapter 3 is taking me foreverrrr, since I'm not used to writing so many characters and it's been a lot for my adhd brain to handle. So to keep my writing from feeling stale, I've been writing some daft text chats between the characters. I'm thinking of posting them as supplements in between the main chapters, to help flesh out some of the relationships the main fic isn't focusing on as much. What do you think? Here's a chat between Simon and Agatha that will take place a little after chapter 3:

The Snow Leopard and the Kirin || Closed RP

Rioto Kirin is drinking his peppermint hot chocolate as he is in a virtual meeting with other demon generals. He is in his dorm room, he is told that he needs to come back to deal with some matters.

Rioto is more than happy to. There is one problem. He needs to tell Okkotsu Yuta about this that he has to leave for the weekend before the holidays. Although, he wasn't sure if he can do that.

"Good thing, I finished my finals.." Rioto stated. He already submitted his essay for art history, acing his exams on his robotics nd one more thing on the agenda is his sculpture project, he managed to finish. He is going to meet with Yuta on that day.
