I wanted to use the last little piece of single ply I had left to crochet a snowflake, but got really caught up in making a particular snowflake I found online that had no pattern. I studied it and experimented with a pattern until I figured out the gist of it.

I then proceeded to make the same thoughtless mistake over and over again until I ran out of single ply yarn...

But I was committed! So I moved up to double ply, which worked beautifully.

I learned how to make fabric starch, made way too much, put on way too much, rinsed it off, and carefully dabbed it back on instead of dipping it in the goo. Then I used a whole box of pins to pull it into shape.

And here it is compared to the photo I found online! (that seems to have once linked to a Martha Stewart pattern that has since been taken down) It's not an exact match, but it's close enough for me.

These two have been a long time coming, lol. I wanted to have them for November for when I actually went to see them, but didn't have enough time (nor money). I think these are my favourite out of all I've made!

Jack getting up all close in that 'has no respect for personal space' way of his and grinning at you as he lightly boops your noses together...!!! i'm sure his nose is very cold, but perhaps he needs the rubs to warm up 😉❄️ really puts a whole new spin on 'nipping at your nose', doesn't it?? 👉👈

on the note of the very fun typo, for a moment i thought you meant rose rubs, and that got me thinking...have you heard of frost flowers before? it's what happens when water is 'pushed' through little holes in the stems of plants after sap causes the stems to expand, and you're left with these beautiful, fragile, petal-like ice structures which are highly delicate and breakable 🥺❄️ i like to think Jack is responsible for all gorgeous, precious ice phenomena, and he takes extra care in crafting frost flowers despite how short-lived they are 🥰 he's a stylish and flamboyant artiste, and while he wasn't cut out for toymaking, his flair for creating the intricate patterns found in ice and snow is unmatched!! perhaps he'd gift you a specially-made frost flower to show you how beautiful he thinks you are 😉❄️
