•when it rains, it pours By MrsNoraPalmer
https://archiveofourown.org/works/18470641/chapters/43763041#main

And that's how she ends up on Ray Palmer's doorstep in the pouring rain asking for a place to crash for the night. Only she gets something more. Something she's always wanted.

“Ray… could you come to the bridge. Someone here is demanding to see you.”
Ray, confused because they were in the temporal zone, wondered who could be on the bridge? Maybe she just meant over the coms? Ray shook his head and walked onto the bridge. Before he could register what was happening something small flew into his legs. A little girl, no more than five or six, grabbed onto his legs for dear life.
“DADDY!!!!”
A companion piece to stuck in the past (but seeing the future) because both fics are Nora and Ray respectively meeting children they definitely don't have yet and are incredibly confused about it.

I've finally caught up on LoT, (except the Ava robot episode because my TV failed to record it) and sadly it was mostly disappointing.
- The way they tried to make Damien Darkh sympathetic was absolute bullshit. No Country for Old Dads was an especially frustrating waste of time. Sure, many of the lines were funny, but that’s where it should’ve ended, instead of getting serious and spending so much time on development and humanization for villains when the majority of the main characters have gotten close to nothing all season.
And then it only went further downhill, with the whole oh let's all weep sad sad tears for this Nazi collaborator who fed his daughter to a demon because now he feels real sad about being too dumb to realise that maybe feeding her to a demon wouldn't be very good for her.
There have been times that I've found him entertaining/a good villain, but he has thoroughly worn out his welcome. If they just hadn't overused him, he could still be an enjoyable villain, but no. There is absolutely nothing left for the character, they have beaten that dead horse into a bloody pulp. If he comes back again oh my fucking god I will lose my damn mind.
- I also hated that Ray let Nora escape at the end of the finale. Yeah, she's not as bad as her dad and maybe she could be redeemed, but that doesn't mean you can just casually help her escape from prison just because you really really really hope that she won't keep killing people. The writers need to Stop making Ray such a dopey, buffoonish caricature. He should've grown up somewhat by now.
- Everything with Ava/Sara was just a giant WTF as always. Even if I didn't hate Ava, and the way she's nuked Sara's character progression this season, I'd still think it was ridiculously poor writing that she went from hating Sara to 'loving' her in only a few episodes with zero build up. Honestly, even if she'd gone from neutral to loving Sara with only a few episodes build-up, it would have been too rushed.
-Speaking of zero build-up, the Zari/Jonah Hex thing was weird too. This show sure does love it's badly written, out of the blue, shoe-horned in romances. Hopefully the Zari/Hex thing was a one-off joke, never to be referenced again.
- I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I've always thought Nate/Amaya was the least badly-written romance on the show, and I'm glad they got some closure, and I’m especially glad that Nate's awful, sexist behaviour in the first few eps of this season seems to have been an anomalous moment of terrible writing and he went back to acting normal for the rest of the season.
- I'm cautiously optimistic about the news that Maisie will still be a cast member in season 4. Of course it could all go horribly wrong, but hopefully whoever she plays will be more Harry, less HR in terms of successful same actor/different character scenarios. On one hand, I'm very glad she's sticking around in some capacity, on the other hand, if they fricken do something to ruin Amaya, i.e. bring in some annoying or evil version of her, or have some timeline change that ruins her life, especially after she got a reasonably well-concluded story arc and respectful sendoff, I will be furious.
- I don’t have much of an opinion on Wally. Aside from his first episode with Rip (which I loved), he didn’t get enough focus for me to really make up my mind whether his addition to Legends is going well or not. (Unless of course there was more focus on him in the episode I haven’t seen yet.) Assuming he’s still on Legends next season, I hope they’ll do something interesting with him.
It’s been pointed out before of course, but I will add my agreement that his referring to Amaya as a basic bitch was OOC badly written nonsense. Even if he was supposed to be quoting Nate, which I don’t really think he was, it still was just weird and jarring. That said, I don’t think it’s unrecoverable from. As long as they don’t make a habit of giving him lines like that, I’m still thinking he’s better off on Legends than Flash, because you could practically forget he existed on Flash half the time after season 2. On the other hand, he may suffer from the same problem all over again, that he’ll need to be taken out early all the time and just basically never do anything much so the plot can work. That’s the unavoidable problem with overpowered characters.
- I've heard that apparently it's not absolutely confirmed that Jax's departure was Franz Drameh’s choice. If not, then it's absolute bullshit that they'd write him out so unceremoniously. Literally what the flying fuck was the point of making his arc in the first half of the season learning how to be on the team if he's not part of Firestorm, if they were just going to have him decide to leave anyway? If the actor wanted to leave, sure, fine, whatcha gonna do? but if not... I'm having trouble thinking of a reason besides racism for treating a character and actor so poorly.
- Rip's death felt very lazy and cheap as well. It left me with a very strong sense that the writers just decided in 0.2 seconds that they couldn't think of anything else to do with him so why not just throw him out? At the very least, his big Heroic Sacrifice should have been the climax of the penultimate episode, not just 'shrug idk how do we fill up five minutes of airtime plus get rid of a character we're sick of? oh hey, Rip could blow himself up!'
I never overly liked Rip, especially in the first season I found him incredibly boring, but he still deserved better than a stupid death like that, and I’m sadder than I thought I would be. Still, out of everyone who’s been there since season 1, if someone had to go, I’m glad it wasn’t anyone else. Other than Mick, of course.
-The time that was wasted on a rat funeral, which, like several of the funny scenes in No Country for Old Dads, would have been fine if it wasn’t for the fact that they were taking up space that should have been used for character development for the mains and respectful goodbyes for those that have died/left.
- One of the few things I absolutely loved was the Beebo vs Mallus fight. It was one of those hilariously wacky fun things the show does well, how could anyone not appreciate the glorious ridiculousness of the big showdown of the finale be between Discount Furby and Discount Balrog? But it was bittersweet because it was just a reminder of how unfortunate it is that the show can be so fun, but also fuck some things up so badly.
The John Noble bit was hilariously amazing as well. Also, I did not know he played Denethor until now. Didn’t recognize him because of the wig, I guess.
I’m... not sure what I thought of Grodd trying to kill Obama. It was just too odd to process properly.
-The less said about Mick the better. I just don’t know why he’s still there when he hasn’t done anything except complain about being on the team and make bigoted jokes in a season and a half.

We were pretty much exhausted by the time the bus stopped at Langza. The stress and adventure we had was showing. The bus stopped on the road and Langza was at least a kilometre away and uphill.
We groaned but there was no choice, we had to walk up. We followed the people who got down along with a group of young girls. With every step, it was becoming difficult. Bhim was limping, he sprained his leg while descending down the mountain.
We were like a little bit more, just a little bit more. As we made our last ascent up to the village, we heard loud and I mean really loud Punjabi Bhangra music coming from one of the homes completely disturbing the serene landscape. We saw the motorbikes with their registration plate.
Yup Delhiites, a bunch of them on the terrace playing jarring music, drinking with no respect for anyone or anything. Bhim said we are not going towards that homestay with those fucking Delhiites. We wanted to be as far away from them.
Nawang from Hikkim spoke about a friend who ran this homestay, so we asked around and we found it and thank god it was far away from the loud music. We got in completely exhausted. It was a dorm room but there were no guests in the homestay.
The cook/caretaker/handyman got us hot chai. He was Chandan from Bihar. He spent some time talking to us. We were down and out and Bhim by now was done. He said I am not fucking getting out to see anything until we go back to Kaza. It was damn cold even though we were at a lower altitude. Added to that was our exhaustion, we were completely out of sorts.
We rested till late evening until we were called for dinner. Though the family said they could bring the dinner to us, we told them we could sit with them. The family stayed below the homestay. Built traditionally, the moment we entered the kitchen, it was pretty warm and cosy. We wished we could sleep here instead.
The whole family was there. A traditional low table with cushions to sit on. The lady served us food, the husband was next to her, his father was sitting with a prayer wheel and chanting while the children were lying down in a cosy space in a corner.
Chandan the handyman also joined in. There was a traditional Tibetan fire pot, like a metal barrel. Adding firewood to it, they could keep the room warm and use it for cooking. The family was hooked to the TV installed on the wall. It seemed like the invasion of cable and tv serials spread far and wide. Some reality dancing show was on and all were engrossed in it.
Bhim broke their attention by talking to the man of the house, slowly everybody joined in forgetting the tv. He was from the army before he quit, now they had lands, and now this homestay. Even his father was in the army. The older gentleman spoke about the olden times in Spiti with no routes and using only mountain trails to commute. Snow leopards were quite common around that time lurking near the villages for sheep and cattle.
They had an older son and he was studying in Kaza. The man of the house said something significant. Times were changing and so was Spiti. Now people here wanted to be a part of mainstream India.
Phones, tv, cars, products, brands, they wanted it too and how could anyone stop them? When the rest of the country was moving ahead with urbanisation, they didn’t want to be left out either. It was a paradox.
It was time to crash to bed and we did, popping a Combiflam(painkiller) each. There was no way we could get good sleep without that.
I woke up next morning around 6 am and I saw Bhim was still sleeping. The toilet was outside, so the moment I got out of the homestay the wind chill hit hard.
It was not dark anymore, I could see people starting their day. Cattle grazing, people taking out firewood. I looked at the landscape. It was beautiful and calm. We would go back to Kaza, we had to figure out how.
By the time I came back, Bhim was up and about. We freshened up and relaxed. Yes the soreness of the body was there but it was better than yesterday. We had some breakfast in the room while Chandan kept talking.
He was already fed up with Spiti. He had no one to talk to except the guests that visited here. He spoke about his family, his wife and daughter and how his parents wanted him to come back home. But he was a nomad, he was travelling and working away from Bihar since he was 16. An observant guy, he spoke about Israeli visitors smoking up, some other foreigners drinking non stop when they stayed here. I could see that he was itching to get out of Spiti but he had to stay till Sep till the season ended.
Bhim went back to bed saying he was not getting out till we got out to Kaza so I went up the hill to see the famous Buddha statue. It was right behind and above the homestay with an ascent. I went panting up and there it was, the 1000 year old statue of the sitting Buddha. There was restoration work going on and one could see the whole landscape. It was peaceful and quiet until of course tourists came in, loads of them clicking pictures.
I also wanted to check out if I could find someone who could give us a ride to Kaza but it was still early and the vehicles with tourists in it was full. I went down and after some time we packed up and asked Chandan if there was a way to get to Kaza. The only feasible way was to go up to the Buddha statue and keep asking people if we could get a ride. So it was inevitable that Bhim had to see the Buddha!
We grunted our way up and kept asking around. All vehicles were packed full. The painters who were in the restoration work of the statue kindly offered to drop us to Kaza but it would be only  after 5.30 pm and it was still noon.
At least we had a back up option. Moments like these tell you, nay, they teach you that everything will happen when it has to, no point in fretting and that’s what we did. We shrugged and waited.
There was a small cafe opposite the statue so we sat there with our backpacks knowing most of them would come here. There was a group of Kannadigas from Bangalore on bikes and Bhim spoke to them, pretty nice guys.
Then we spoke to a guy who was waiting for a  group of foreigners. They were from France, a bunch of farmers and they were doing Spiti on horseback! They hired him for the whole trip and he had to wait there as they would be coming down from Hikkim. He quoted a price that was way too high.
The cafe was being managed by another Bihari guy, we saw the carrom board and Bhim invited the Bihari to join in. Also came in the driver who was waiting for the French group. And so four of us one sunny day in Langza played carrom board just like that. 😊I teamed up with the Bihari while Bhim teamed up with the other guy. It was fun, we just went with the flow.
After some time I opted out to read while the guys continued. Just then walked in a lady, she knew everyone there and was asking about some guy. She was sitting outside and smoking then Bhim told me to talk to her, to check if we could get a ride back.
I introduced myself and spoke to her. She was from Bangalore, moved to Manali 3 years ago and was now part of start ups to promote Spiti using local resources. They were having an event, a star gazing night at Langza that night. The team was setting it up. When I asked her, she said they would go back only late night so at that time they could drop us back.
As we were chatting, in came a big group of South Indians, Malayalis! Bhim approached the driver and finally got a ride back to Kaza. We were worried if the people in it would object, but the driver who was a Punjabi said Aap baito na, kuch nahin hoga.( Sit inside, nothing will happen) So in we got with a group of proper Mallus playing Malayalam songs with a punjabi driver!
They were all from Calicut, Kerala and hired the mini van for Spiti. The woman next to me offered banana chips and Channa snacks. Bhim was sitting behind with the guys. I remember when we were getting in they asked us where we were from. When we told them, they were like South, they are from the South like us!
I remember a few hilarious moments with them. They saw a Zebu grazing and the van stopped so they could take pics. They were screaming ‘ Snow Cow Snow Cow’ and tried to feed it banana chips!! We intervened and said feed it Bananas not chips! Bhim and I controlled our laughter big time, the poor animal would have got diarrhoea if it had eaten banana chips made with coconut oil!
Bhim could finally get through Karan! Yes the same cafe guy from Key monastery. The crazy guy just disappeared. Bhim was like where were you dude?? All he got was a big laughter from Karan! Bhim told him to send his account details so we could transfer the amount once we reached Manali.
After a long ride filled with Mohanlal and Mammooty( Kerala Superstars btw) songs we got dropped off at Kaza. We were hungry so we first stopped at a quaint cafe run by a Sardarji and had some lunch. Bhim befriended some children, played with them and showed them apps to click fun pictures. In the notice board of the cafe we saw that, there was poster for a movie screening at Ecosphere cafe in the evening so why not do that?
We got a lovely room at a good bargain. On top of a house, the room was spacious, warm and yes, hot water! We could finally take a bath! You have no idea how much you value getting that half a bucket of hot water in the mountains.
After freshening up we went to the cafe and paid for the tickets. It was a Wes Anderson movie and one of our favourite directors. The screening area was a lovely warm room with a projector, bean bags, low seating with lots of cushions. The movie was ‘Moonrise Kingdom’. It was a bitter sweet quaint movie just like his other movies. If you are one of those kinds that have a certain quirkiness, you will love his movies! The Darjeeling Limited and The Royal Tenenbaums are my most favourites of Wes Anderson movies.
It was a lovely movie and a nice evening when we came out. The town was quiet, no one around except locals and a few coked up foreigners. We saw a punjabi restaurant and ordered some Paneer, omelette and veg Biryani.
Tomorrow we would head off early, for a long excruciating journey to Manali- the most dreaded and one of the most dangerous roads.
We would see Spiti in all its splendour, glory, and magnificence on the ride. Whatever rides we did so far would be nothing compared to tomorrow.
To be continued…
It’s time.. – Part XIX We were pretty much exhausted by the time the bus stopped at Langza. The stress and adventure we had was showing.

Regarding Season 5 Legends of Tomorrow
Spoilers mostly because of two paragraphs of quotes hinting at Season 5 but it's not really spoilery.
So everyone seems a little worried about the season finale spoilers which are hinting about what season 5 may be about and while I am a little something has been niggling at me, a lot of somethings.
If you are here only for Avalance. Check #4 it's a theory that I haven't been able to shake since I read the Season 5 spoilers.
Here for potential episode count of Season 5 of Legends of Tomorrow and/or the potential reasoning behind it's midseason, next year move? Try #3
Or here for a potential theory regarding Season 5 entirely. This also includes Avalance and has a little more backbone then #4. Check out #5
Here for Crisis on Infinite Earths? Check the last part.
So I made a list and dug back through almost every episode of Legends from season 3-4 to try to calm my fears and honestly I think there are some huge clues buried deep in there.
1. People are worried that next Season will be Legends of Tomorrow's last and I honest to god think Legends of Tomorrow will end with a Season 6 and not 5. Why do I think this? Mostly because the CW renewed it for season 5 didn't mention it was ending and renewed Arrow for season 8 and mentioned that it would be it's final season. Plus I doubt they'd end two of the Arrowverse shows one after the other. I know it hasn't been running as long as Arrow and Legends isn't the flagship show but I do believe they would've let people know if that would be it. Though that said I do believe Legends will have a Season 6 and that will be it's last, do I want it to be? No.
Should it be? That's to be determined.
There are hundreds of stories a show like Legends could tell but honestly ask yourself is it worth the risk of Legends losing what makes it Legends, let it and those in it go down as Legends I say.
2. And what happens when the Legends awaken the original guardians of Time (no, not the Time Masters, sillies, that was season one!) who wish to erase everything the Legends have “screwed up for the better” over the past four seasons?
I needed to especially hit this nail on the head, considering I began writing a fic back at the beginning of 3B about original guardians of time, I literally even called them Time Guardians and tied the original 2 of them to Adam and Eve and there was this whole plot surrounding what if and honestly Im scrapping it now, I was probably never going to finish it but I was almost half way through so thats something.
Now to get on with the actual point of this quote, I dont know if anybody has noticed but this entire season offset with the actors and actressess and onset as their characters, especially the closer it gets to the finale has been extremely focused on the wrongs season 1 did, how bad it was, how much the actors didn't like it (example - Dominic Purcell's quote, Phil Klemmers comments about it and on and on with the other actors), the quote above even mentions the fact that these guardians will try to correct the past 4 seasons and then there's Sara's and Mick's mention to it in "Nip/Stuck", the offshoot moment that had everyone going awwww when Mick mentioned they were the last of the originals and Sara mentioned they were different back then and that they are growing up but hopefully not apart (a huge hint I believe that this show is ready to tie the knot, just not season 5 ready because they'll need to be adults for that ending and they aren't quite there yet) season 4 was about coming to terms with that fact and season 5 will be about them acting on it, season 6 will be the realisation that every Legend has an ending. This is where season 5 'them acting on being adults' comes into it, I believe Legends is going to try to write season 1's wrong in a way they haven't done yet, do I mean they'll literally go back and rewrite season 1? No, i swear to god they better not that would be another level of unbelievable yet to be achieved but that doesn't mean certain aspects of season 1 won't have a huge impact, season 1 brought them together as in Sara's words "the original losers, not important to history" and now look at them. Season 1 of Legends will play a pivotal plot point to Season 5, a realisation of soughts. It's time for the Legends to grow up, realise that every action truly has consequences and that nothing lasts forever, something they couldn't fathom when Rip tried to keep them from fixing their mess in 3x01 forcing them to get normal lives and not be time travelling superheroes. Though they'll surely have their fun discovering this.
3. Midseason Return and episode count
Okay, I am not worried at all about this. Is it shitty? Yeah definitely. We won't be getting episodes until at least at minimum January next year but let's be honest with Batwoman hitting our screens, this was going to happen.
Legends of Tomorrow is the CW's most outrageous, crazy, no ordinary run of the mill show they have. It's no longer able to fit with the nitty gritty of the Arrowverse, it's in a league of its own.
These things are what make Legends of Tomorrow, Legends of Tomorrow. It wouldn't be the same if it resembled the street show Arrow is or the teen superhero show the Flash is or the normal, kind of? that Supergirl is or whatever type of darl thing Batwoman will be. Just like Black Lightning (which if you aren't watching, why?) Legends is something of its own. Unique.
Moving Legends away may very well be them realising this.
As for episode count, I don't expect anything above 16 episodes but I certainly don't expect anything below 13. This whole 10 episode rumour going around, I find it hard to believe, Arrow got 10 mostly because it's the last season and Stephen Amell requested a shorter series to end on.
4. Avalance - let's be honest most of you reading this are only here for the Avalance. Probably.
What do I think of Avalance leading into season 5? I think we got our answer perhaps in the form of Clexacon, 4B and the spoiler. Everyone is so concerned with the fact that they may break up that they haven't considered something entirely different.
In attempting to change her future, Zari Tomaz (Tala Ashe) will accidentally change not just the past she shared with Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), but fundamentally change who the Legends are in season five.
From this one paragraph everybody assumes they are going to be broken up in this new reality. If that turns out to be the case I am all here for a finding their way back to each other season. Remember, Sara and Ava are who each other want. They'll find their way back to one another.
Though this isn't what I get from this, remember Clexacon. Remember baby Beebo's? Remember Ava wanting a life with Sara and Sara not entirely sure she could give that to Ava with her past, remember everything with Sara's father, remember Ava wanting to talk about kids and so on and so on. Now I'm not saying Quentin will make an appearance but I am suggesting that what if this new reality is everything they ever wanted, what if it's paradise, Ava has a kid with Sara, Sara has her father and she's in a good place with Ava but nothing feels right. What if it changes their lives all for the better and season 5 is them coming to terms with the fact that they can't have something that isn't really real. Imagine Ava having to let go of a child, Sara having to say goodbye to a living family, Nate saying goodbye to his Dad again, Mick having to let go off being some famous writer and so on and so on for every other character. It's not their reality whether it's perfect or not at the end of the day they are heroes and now they need to prove it.
Will Avalance have a rough patch? No doubt.
Will they be broken up at the start of next season? Who knows, I don't, not really.
Will they find their place together? Definitely, I'd bet my life Legends Season 5 ends with Avalance. Though Season 6 may start with only one of them.
5. What if the opposite of the above happens?
What if it's the fact that Zari erases herself from history or never meets the Legends and detrimentally changes the future, I mean that was a theme through all of season 3 and looking back at the fantastic episode "Here We Go Again" Gideon and Zari figure out that without her they can't stop Mallus, what else would've happened without Zari.
If Zari never met the Legends what would the impact be?
First we need to take a look at Zari and what brought her too the Legends, namely her brother and the desire to save him, he gave her the totem, so let's think this through, if Zari some how manages to save her brother (I'm gonna say she saves him with her dragon, that dragon will come into play somehow, leaving it at Zari's was in no way a random thing), she never gets the totem, she never joins the Legends and the Legends no longer have six totems.
What then? What about Mallus? What about Nora?
What about Avalance, Zari (with the help of the cheeky bot, Sara's words not mine,) were catalysts for them, is it possible that without her push to Sara, Ava moved on with that ex in Vegas or someone else. It would give Legends and opportunity for some hilarious Sara jealousy and pining something we haven't really ever seen. Could you imagine? They would be friends with or without Zari but would they be together? Sara is a little stupid when it comes to admitting feelings and Ava is a little dense when it comes to anything Sara related, it would make for a joy to watch as Sara and Ava fall in love all over again but never truly get together until everything is fixed with time and they realise the lynch pin to their relationship starting was Zari.
What about Charlie? Or Constantine? Zari had a huge impact on both characters, "Legends of To-Meow-Meow" is all the proof you need.
Would Constantine even be a part of the team?
Would Charlie?
Would Mick be a writer, Zari gave him the push he needed, to be out as a writer and to be a writer. Without Zari, Here We Go Again never happened.
Zari impacted every one of Legends, willing or not. Mostly not.
What about those donuts? Would the Waverider be overrun by donuts? Poor Gideon.
Crisis on Infinite Earths
Alright this is because this makes me more nervous than Season 5 of Legends spoilers does. Probably because we haven't heard anything really and only have the comics to truly back the crazy theories surrounding it.
Lets give it a look. Canon flow of the story between all shows hasn't been the CW's greatest forte, their plot holes only seem to get bigger and bigger with every second or third episode that hits the screen as they try to tie all these shows together.
That said, one thing that has yet to become a plot hole, at least not that I've seen. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
The Legends were picked because they wouldn't impact history in any great way. Sara dying or any Legends dying to save the multiverse would throw a wrench into this and blow the biggest plot hole in Legends that would be pretty hard to turn around from. I'm not saying that they might not try because it is the CW but let's be honest going into Clexacon, Jes and Caity knew how Legends was going to end, Caity will be back for the next season which would be awkward if she died in the crossover (Though she does have a habit of coming back from death), so relax chill and wait to see that most likely this Crossover will show what happens with Oliver Queen the Arrow, one final Arrowverse send of for the one who started it. Love or loathe Arrow, personally for me it went downhill around season 5 but I hold a soft spot for it, love or loathe you probably wouldn't have everything else without it. So give it a round of applause when it finishes, Stephen Amell and the rest of them deserve it.
That said it is Crisis on Infinite Earths, who's to say that the new season of Legends will take place on the Earth we are familiar with, after all they're time travellers, who needs Earth, time will do just fine. Just have to wait and see.
If only we had a time machine right?
