#so.... I think I ship Ludus x Yuzuki

Ah, this idea came to me in a dream last night.  I haven’t had plotbunnies in forever, and I rarely write for Trio of Towns.  I’m half-awake writing this, but... I kinda like it, so I’m sharing.  Maybe it’ll turn into something longer?  I rarely write for this cast, so I’d love some honest feedback.

It was the sweltering Lulukoko heat that brought him in.

“A smoothie would be great, thanks.” Ludus took a seat in front of the counter, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Siluka set straight to work – dragonfruit, starfruit, papaya all diced to perfection.

Chop-chop-chop-chop. Chop-chop-chop-chop.

Iluka leaned on the counter, scooping some ice into the blender.  “It's far too hot out for anyone to expect you to get any orders rushed today.  Don't let anyone boss you around out there.”

Chop-chop-chop-chop. Chop-chop-chop-chop.

Ludus dismissed this with the wave of a hand and a gentle chuckle.  “I think it's too hot for anyone to want to come out and see me, honestly.  I haven't had a new order yet today.”

Chop-chop-chop-chop. Chop-chop-chop-chop.

“Well, that's a relief.”

Chop-chop-chop-chop.  Chop-chop-

The deft knifework that had become the background music to their conversation had suddenly stopped, and Iluka and Ludus's voices ceased.  Iluka turned toward her sister in horror, afraid that the knife had slipped.  Siluka was simply looking out at the tables of guests, her sense of focus turned toward a particular patron.

“Huh.”

Siluka's gaze turned gentle, and a slight smile played at her lips.

“What is it?” Ludus demanded, noticing the slight smirk forming on Iluka's face.

He turned his eyes on the object of her staring – a young man was perched on a stool, sipping at a cocktail.  His Tsuyukusa clothing quickly signaled that he was from out of town.  His face was flushed from the heat, and his hair was pulled back to keep it away from his face, and it was blowing slightly in the breeze.  Sipping from his straw, he rested a cheek in his hand and looked out at the waves.

Siluka spoke with a tender tone.  “That man over there that we served a few minutes ago...  he has very kind eyes, doesn't he?”

Ludus wasn't one for rudeness, but he found his gaze was lingering to the point of staring.  There was a gentleness and sadness to those eyes that filled him with morbid curiosity.  Furthermore, the event had caused an unusual flutter in his chest as he quickly averted his eyes.

“M-Mahalo for the drink.  I'd best get back to work.”  He gave the patron one last look as he waved goodbye to the twins, nearly stumbling over a stool on his way out.

Iluka opened her mouth to speak, but Siluka shook her head, looking down at the array of fruit on the chopping board.

“Looks like Ludus has more than smoothies on his mind.”

Iluka shrugged nonchalantly, but there was a mischievous gleam in her eye as she deftly swept the fruit into the blender and turned it on.  “Oh, he'll be back before you can count to ten.”

After all, he had looked sweatier sitting in the shade staring at that guest than he did standing out in the heat.

Favorite character: yuzuki yuzuki my darling yuzuki!!!

Least favorite character: idk if I really have one?? Tbh I found all the characters in trio to be really likable!!! I guess maybe the MC’s dad? I never finished the game but I Do Not Like how he keeps giving me goals like I do not care about being #1 farmer I just want to be a #1 girlfriend 😭

5 favorite ships: uhhhh yuzuki x holly obviously. Though I am also a fan of hinazuki thanks to @pansy-picnics’s art of them!! I’m in love with the idea of lisette and holly being star-crossed lovers due to the game’s gender lock. Also like lisette with kasumi + kasumi with komari!!

Character I find the most attractive:

have you ever seen a man so beautiful you started crying

(Lisette is v pretty too though + I think ludus has a nice smile!!!)

Character I would marry: uhhh yuzuki obvs + also lisette

Character I would be best friends: lisette could be my gal pal 😏

A random thought: like I said before I just think all of the characters are really well-developed and likable but especially the kids (as in the NPCs not your own kids)!! They are adorable + it was one of the biggest differences I noticed going from trio to sos1….like I didn’t really care for Melanie or lutz but I would die for any of the kids in trio.

An unpopular opinion: uhhhh again idk what the popular opinions are??

My canon otp: sorry if I butcher their names, it’s been a bit, but omiyo and umekichi (yuzuki’s grandparents)!! They’re just a sweet old couple + I love how they come to see my character as a second grandchild 🥺

My non-canon otp: oddly enough it’s probably hinazuki!! Listen if I can’t have yuzuki I know Hinata will take good care of him!!!!

Most badass character: I believe kasumi could kill a man

Most epic villain: uhhhh are there really any villains in trio?? Does witchie count as a villain??

Pairing I am not a fan of: I feel like if there were rival marriages in this game they would’ve put lisette and Wayne together and to me it just feels like comphet…..

Character I feel the writers screwed up: am I allowed to say “kasumi because they didn’t make her canonically a lesbian”?? Seriously though maybe I’m basic/not picky but I think they did a good job!!!

Favorite friendship: I like to think the whole westown crew + the mc are really good friends!!!

Character I most identify with: siluka probably bc sleepy lol….although according to MBTI types I believe I’m a government assigned inari kinnie!!!

Character I wish I could be: am I allowed to just say holly because you literally play as her?? Sounds like a good life….running the farm…..making friends with all the marriage candidates and the townsfolk…..having breakfast with yuzuki every morning…..I’m soft 🥺

Hmm how about Hinata?

OK I AM.... SO SORRY IM GETTING TO THIS SO LATE I FORGOT

How I feel about this character: Hinata actually took me a while to truly appreciate 😔 He feels like someone u can rely on and probably playfully joke with. He can be kinda tricky to draw but I like to draw him regardless.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: man.... ethanata otp. perhaps in another world, hinata and yuzuki? MAYBE hinata and komari?

My non-romantic OTP for this character: I feel like Ludus and Hinata would get along rly well!!!

My unpopular opinion about this character: there’s gonna be a trend in me saying that I don’t know enough about fan interpretations to discern whether or not it’s unpopular, but I think he’s.... a twunk. I try to draw him like that and this is the only time I think I got close

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: I want him to have acting success!!! Also I wanna learn more about his family. I’m relieved that at least one of the bachelors was relieved of some parental trauma (at the very least, he doesn’t mention any)
