#ocean's twelve#steven soderbergh#scenes#vii#now this is an absolutely beautiful sequence the tone created here is something else and made me reavalue#soderberghs eye for directing... this sequence is like a malevolent dream and it has an almost magical realism quality to it#its like isabel is out of place and time... is it because its shes remembering how they first met? or is it because thats how meeting him#felt? is it both...? but the cuts and music and the camera zoom in i mean the way catherine zeta-jones doesnt even seem to blink during the#first scenes are bewildering im mesmerized by her stare its like shes in the sweetest trance her eyes are just something else.#the starkness of reality and the dreamlike memory - so sweet its almost sickly... or at least a bit outerworldy... is just wow#and this reminds me 60s/70s italian filmamakers style but im not really placing which one right now... possibly antonioni ?#anyways what a sequence
