suddenly rmbred that i do have an uh. animatic-ish wip??? and that i should get around to working on it.
so! a couple frames i got done today. or like. yesterday. bc time is not real. anyway. just realised that bc two halves of this were worked on two months apart, things are inconsistent. like eyelashes. which is mildly annoying. and a problem for a me thats not awake at 4am.

today I messed around in vocaloid 2 (vocaloid 2 Miku dark is my FAVORITE) and made Miku sing rudimentary Japanese phrases I learned in school and it was tiny but I did it and I'm proud of myself. making music in any capacity is my biggest dream but I don't ever take steps towards that goal because I don't know where to start and I'm scared. but today showed me I can do it and it's more accessible than I thought!!!
#i was thinking about how when you're ten and learning to play the recorder in school the first song you learn is hot cross buns#so. i went and made miku sing hot cross buns (hatto kurasu bansu) just to like. interface w the software#because id never opened it until now. because i was scared and didn't know how to use it#but i was always be scared and i will NEVER know how to use it if i never open it!! so i did! and it was fine#then i had miku sing wastashi no namae wa miku desu~ and then ongaku wa suki desu and i actually ended up really liking the melody#i made up for the second line. and i was like I CAN WRITE MUSIC! ANYONE CAN WRITE MUSIC! YOU CAN DO IT BUG!!!!#just gotta try!!!! try is how you learn!!!!! ahhh!!!!#anyways. my first project is making a cover of aegen and my big goal project is to make a cover of the entirety of three cheers#buggie sounds#tuning is not as scary as i thought! idk if im doing it all the way right but it was fun :-)#i really am going to have to redownload a DAW though......#DAWs are fucking scary i dont like them. i used to (try to) make beats in FL studio a decade ago and. idk#daws are strange beasts that bite. not like my kind and simple video editor (side eyes adobe after effects)#i am nervois about doing an actual cover bc i am not sure how capturing a song's vocals will go but.... I'll cross that bridge later#just glad i opened it and tried :-) yippee!#maybe for my first song itll just be japanese 101 and thats like. the schtick.#where is the train station? it is 3pm now. today is sunday. will we go to the ocean tomorrow? i drank coffee this morning. etc

Anyone know of good free/relatively inexpensive audio mixing/editing software other than audacity? I'd love to get more into recording music and also possible voice acting and audio books.
Any input is super appreciated!

#pokemon#lillie pokemon#I made this one in#infinite painter#on the phone from start to finish; lately I often start in infinite painter and then move to laptop - I didn't even jump over with this one#I will put together an in-depth review of infinite painter at another time but for now:#~3 months of using it - nothing but good things to say: has the most refined blending capabilities of any software I've tried#to the point it makes me wish I could use it on laptop as well#very handsome brushes for both drawing and painting but of course especially painting#very nice interface#and the most in-depth manual I've ever seen#it took me a while to learn how to use it well but at this point I can recommend it

Hate it when Apple does all those software updates and then all they change is how the widgets look or something inane. And it has me off balance for days because my homescreen looks so weird, yet I fall for it every single time and press that ‘update’ button.

God, the audio editing software I've been using got fucking greedy.
#I used to be able to pay 15 dollars a month and get amazing features#Basically unlimited#But now for WORSE the price has been raised to 19 bucks and things that were never limited#Not even in the free version#Are insanely limited now#It's not even worth it#The shit they're pitching now will barely have a scratch on what I hope to do#I'm gonna have to switch to a different audio/video software#Not to mention the new interface is insane

dads been getting back into making music in a big way and its so funny to have lots of back and forth about cool experimental stuff we've come across and i ask how his own tinkering is going and he tells me he's spent the last 2 days perfecting the setup on his RGB keyboard instead
#terminal computer guy brain#he couldn't get his new pedalboard to interface wiht linux at all so he bought a new windows gaming laptop to run the softwar#i convinced him to play no mans skya few months back and he got really into the soundtrack and hes like#i cant get a whole synth setup i just got this new guitar last year but also i need one.#very fun for me who has zero musical ability beyond a good vocal range.
