Hi there, sorry for the late reply. Back then, no one was translating the series. But now, there are a few channels on youtube translating and subtitling some episodes of the series.

Unfortunately, no. As far as I know, there are still no one subbing the series. I already search high and low, I still haven’t found anyone subbing the series. If I found the subbed ver I will definitely post it on my tumblr. For now, I hope my answer will satisfy you.

The first ep of TeaTea Cherry has finally dropped!

I've seen the previews before, and I was already interested in it solely for the Escape Room/Puzzle gimmick. However, I'll be honest and say that the wait for it felt quite frustrating on my end (as this channel also brings SofyRuby content, and full episodes along with them).

I could quickly detect some heavy hints of Tokyo MewMew in it: Heroines that are themed after edibles (fruit, specifically), being summoned to/working at a café, which it hides a secret scientific facility that uses technology to save animals. Trying to surf on the reboot's hype, maybe...?

I like this gimmick of magical girls using their brains rather than their brawns to solve things, not to mention that Escape Rooms make me nostalgic; I'd spend hours playing these types of games back when Flash was still active!

And the outfits, of course, are very cute-looking! More Idol-like than the traditional fluffy and poofy style that most magical girls tend to follow imo, and I absolutely ADORE the glasses. More magical girls should wear/keep their glasses when transformed.

The duration is rather short, it's 11 minutes! Looks like it's straight to the point rather than mysterious, which it's not bad for me, as I struggle with executive dysfunction even with the stuff that I like (I will try to change that, I promise!)

Anyways, looks neat and I can't wait to see more of it!

“Only One” - Sofy Ruby - Sofy & Spinel Duet

Since form changes are allowed, should I submit the emerald transformations of Sofy and Spinel from season 2 of SofyRuby? On the one hand, it's absurd how little green is in these outfits. On the other hand, as the self-designated #1 SofyRuby stan on tumblr, I feel it is my duty.

Hmm I think Emerald-form Spinel definitely counts (it leans teal, I'll accept it). Sofy's too pink imo, sorry.

They're separate characters so they'd have to be submitted separately too, but if enough people vote for him and agree that he belongs in the ring then I can't stop him. If he makes it I'll make sure Sofy's present in his pictures though, green magical girl by association lol.

Hey Nina. What do you think of magical girl cartoons from Asian countries other than Japan? There are some really cool/cute ones. (I'm partial to SofyRuby and Jingling Meng Yeluo Li among others, even though I don't know what they're saying.) I almost never see people talking about them, but I thought you might have something to say. (This blog is fantastic btw.)

Hello friend!

I absolutely adore magical girls from all nations and I have a soft spot for girls outside of Japan if only because I love the global communication of the genre. I love watching to see how each country has a slightly different idea of what magical girls should be and how even that changes depending on time and influence. Now more than ever we’re in a FANTASTIC age of global communication and it’s amazing to see what studios like Zagtoon and Netflix production can do with global influence. 

This being said, admittedly I haven’t seen a whole lot shows from Asian countries outside of Japan. Unfortunately I don’t always have the time!

I’ve seen Balala the Fairies (Chinese), Petit Petit Muse (Korean) & Z-Squad (Korean). 

Of those three Balala is my favourite and probs because I’m admittedly a huge Precure Fan girl and the series is very similar to Precure.

It’s difficult because it’s harder to find these shows subbed or dubbed in a language I understand. I wish more of them would get the Anime treatment but I understand many subs aren’t “official” and people are spending their free time on it, so it’s not like there’s but I can do to influence :C I only have so much money to throw around to support the things I love.

I’d love to watch more though! And will definitely check out SofyRuby and Jingling Meng Yeluo Li. If you- or anyone else- have more to recommend I’ll gladly add it to my list! Right now Yobi, The Five Tailed Fox is on my “next to watch” in terms of Non-Japanese Asian Magical girls.
