Am I writing a new story that’s Natsuo Todoroki x FigureSkater!Reader? With the main inspiration being Don’t You Dare (Make Me Fall In Love With You) by Kaden Mackay? Is reader also Fuyumi Todoroki’s co-worker at the elementary school? Is this one of the most niche things I’ve writing?
All answer point to yes.

Unholy
Pairing: Enji Todoroki (Endeavor) x PopStar!Reader
Word Count: 2600+
Summary: Inspired by Unholy By Sam Smith and Kim Petras. As promotion for their newest album, Y/n revealed a mysterious hint at one of the songs true meanings. Enji Todoroki starts to quietly panic at this vague reveal by the young singer. Hawks is all too ready to fan the flames of Pro Hero Endeavor’s insecurities.
Warnings: Playful hitting, alcohol consumption, marriage affair, the use of Mx. (feel free to input whatever preferred)
A/N: Reader is gender neutral! Let me know if you like this story or not. Definitely a new direction in my writing style. Some bold decisions were made on my part. Still suoer not familiar with Endeavor as a love interest so sorry for anything that's OOC.
“Pop Sensation Y/n L/n confirms their new song Unholy is about a Pro Hero who acted as a Sugar Daddy for them, but won’t say who. Could it be one of their classmates from UA? We’ll talk about our predictions after this commercial break,” the tabloid anchor spilled before jumping to a commercial for toothpaste.
They laughed, popping a grape into their mouth. Y/n’s phone was blowing up with their friends’ names as well as the man in question's. The ‘news’ plastered on every tabloid in Japan was the same story and Y/n could almost cackle at how easy it was to rile the feathers of so many people so easily. As if on queue, a red feather whipped around their shared kitchen, tickling Y/n’s nose before finding hawks’ wing again.
“If I knew being your roommate meant being bombarded by paparazzi asking who you’re fucking, I wouldn’t have signed that lease,” Keigo complained, taking a grape from the bag in front of Y/n and leaning with his back to the counter. “I thought I was the one who was supposed to have the interesting sex life.”
“Maybe if…” Y/n started, leaning forward and blocking their bag of grapes from him, “if you left the apartment for something other than hero work, you would.”
Y/n’s phone lit up and started to buzz on the marble countertop. Keigo looks at it and smirks.
“So, when are you going to tell him?” Keigo chuckles, seeing Shoto Todoroki’s contact photo on Y/n’s phone.
“Tell him what?” Y/n asks, silencing the phone and sliding it into their pocket.
“You’re joking, right? That you’re fucking his dad.” Keigo’s voice became more serious the more he spoke, “kid’s like your best friend. I know I’d be pissed if my crush from high school was fucking my dad.”
“Aww, you’d have a crush on me if we went to school together? That’s so sweet. But I thought you were gay?” Y/n chuckles, picking up their bowl of grapes and walking towards the couch.
“Oh, don’t give me that. I’m a bi icon and you know it,” Keigo follows close behind.
“I’m not going to tell him, just like I’m not going to tell the tabloids! I’ll do what I always planned; send a group text to my friends that I made it up for publicity!” Y/n shrugged, sitting down and turning up the tv.
“Why do you even watch these shows? They’re all lies,” Keigo rolls his eyes as he tries to reach around Y/n to steal the remote.
Y/n snatches the remote and sends him a fake glare, “this is how I keep up with my friends from school. I use it as an opener when texting them. ‘Hey, Izuku! Is it true Ochaco is pregnant?’ It works every time.”
“Why can’t you just text ‘hey’?” Keigo questions.
Y/n gives him a look of disgust before speaking, “you want me to start a conversation with just hey? Like some kind of psychopath?”
Y/n’s phone had fallen between the cushions and started to buzz again. Keigo grumbles, digging into the couch and pulling out the phone. He answers it without looking at the screen and before Y/n can snatch it.
“Y/n can’t come to the phone right now, Todoroki. Can I take a message?” Keigo asked irritated.
Keigo’s feathers puff out and his eyes go wide at the deep voice that responds, “please give the phone to Mx. Y/l/n. I have something I must discuss with them.”
Keigo quickly recovers with a smirk, looking Y/n in the eyes as he spoke, “not the Todoroki I thought was calling. What can I do for you on this fine day, Endeavor?”
Y/n began to panic, not knowing how to avoid Enji now. Keigo leaned back on the couch, listening intently to the man on the phone, and getting comfortable. An occasional yeah or mmhm would come from him, but that was all he was telegraphing.
“Yeah, I hear you, Man. Volume isn’t the issue here. The problem is that they aren’t here to even take a phone call. They left their phone in the apartment by accident in their rush out the door. You know how Y/n can be. Always the forgetful one,” Keigo smoothly says, saving Y/n's proverbial ass from having to talk to him before changing the topic. “I noticed you called them a few times. Is there a reason you’re calling one of your son's best friends?”
Y/n’s hand found their mouth as a fearful squeak comes from them. Keigo knew exactly what he was doing. Keigo laughs as he pulls the phone away from his ear and holds the phone out to Y/n. The phone still said call ended for a split second before going black.
“He hung up on me, the dick. He totally knows I know now,” Keigo still chuckled as he turned back towards the tv.
Y/n hit Keigo in the back of the head with their phone.
“What the fuck was that? Don’t pick up my phone if you’re not even going to look at the caller id!” Y/n scolded.
Keigo swore he could see steam shoot from Y/n’s ears. He held out his hand. Y/n slapped the remote into his hand, glaring as they readjusted and faced the tv again.
“Hey, some guy named Enji Todoroki called you. Said something about it being urgent?” Keigo said casually, flipping through channels.
Y/n slapped his arm causing him to laugh and push their shoulder.
“No, but seriously…” Keigo starts. “Does he always do that old person thing where he’s always slightly yelling into the phone? Because he does that to me too, and I gotta know.”
Y/n rolls their eyes, pouting as Keigo starts a movie.
---
“So, Y/n, your secret is safe with me,” the talk show hoost starts, “Who’s the song about?”
Y/n chuckles lightly and they spoke casually, “my secret is safe on live television? You think me a fool.”
“D’awe. You can’t blame a host for trying!” He speaks directly to the camera.
The crowd laughs.
“After this, we bring Pro Hero Hawks out to the couch!” The host says to the camera and applause from the audience.
With applause, the show returns from commercial, and Keigo is bounding from backstage to center, waving at the audience and sending a few tactical winks at a few women. He finally finds his seat next to Y/n after shaking the host’s hand.
“Pro Hero Hawks! How have you been since last we saw you?” The host starts, tapping his notecards on his knee.
“I’ve been good but busy! Climbing the hero charts was easy, staying up there is difficult with all the new hero blood out there,” Keigo laughs, sipping the whiskey from the glass that had been placed for him during the commercial.
“You’re right! Last year's newest heroes from UA High came to the scene with numbers under their belts already! You and Y/n share an apartment, correct? Any of their old UA friends loiter in your apartment?” The host prys.
Keigo and Y/n both know what the host is trying to infer.
Keigo laughs again, “I wish Y/n would bring friends over. I’m beginning to think they don’t actually have any friends. If you’re trying to get me to spill on their secrets, I can give you this: it never happened in the apartment…”
Murmurs wash over the crowd.
Keigo continues with a smirk, “And I do know who it is.”
Y/n is quick to respond with a smile, “I swear, you can’t tell a Pro Hero anything. They can’t keep a secret to save their lives. I told Deku who my first kiss was and he immediately told Uravity who told Pinky who told the rest of our grade by lunch!”
“Oooh, who was this first kiss of yours with?” The host leans forward in curiosity.
“Oh, he’s going to kill me for saying this,” Y/n exhaled before taking a long sip from their glass. Y/n smiled proudly and spoke with confidence, “Pro Hero DynaMight.”
The crowd whoops and hollers at Y/n’s loud whisper. The host is fanning himself with his note cards.
“Now, that’s some juicy gossip! Where you his first kiss too?” The host questions.
“If 17-year-old Katsuki Bakugo is to be believed, then yes,” Y/n chuckles.
“Okay, even I didn’t know this!” Keigo feigns hurt.
---
“I don’t care what kind of relationship you have with them, Endeavor,” Keigo drawls, flying next to Endeavor above the city. “What I care about is how that little fireball weaseled its way into your wallet. I’m trying to learn how they do it so I can scam some old guy too.”
Enji groaned, “don’t you have somewhere better to be, Hawks?”
“Nope! The commission wants to see us interacting friendly with each other out in public. So here I am!” Keigo smirked.
“I would hardly call this friendly,” Enji responds, landing on a nearby rooftop.
Keigo followed suit and continued, “oh, come on. I’m just playing. Stop stressing over it or you’ll do something stupid like tell the press yourself! No one suspects you. The main prediction right now is actually your youngest. So, how much did you give her in that NDA?”
Enji ignored him, taking off back into the sky.
---
“6.7 million??” Keigo gawked at his roommate through the mirror in the bathroom they were sharing.
Y/n looked up from their sink station, “yeah, he also made it clear he wasn’t cutting off our ‘normal meetings.’ The man really talks like an old-timey Sheriff.”
“So,” Keigo starts, taking a flat iron to his hair, styling it just so, “where are you taking me to keep me quiet?”
“Without an apartment, if you tell anyone. Remember, you’re living here for free,” Y/n reminds him, adjusting their own hair for their night out.
“I am unloved,” Keigo sighs loudly, the back of his free hand finding his forehead.
“Don’t be a drama queen. I’ll take you out for dinner next week,” Y/n suggests.
“Careful, they’ll think I’m the one you’re sleeping with,” Keigo counters, laughing while pulling on his jacket and heading toward the front door.
Y/n pretends to throw up at the thought of his comment. They grabbed their own jacket, putting what they’d need into their jean pockets. Y/n’s phone buzzes on the coffee table as the two left the bathroom. The two look at each other before both lunging for the phone. Keigo grabs it and flies off the ground in the high vaulted apartment and out of Y/n’s reach. He unlocks Y/n’s phone and looks at the text.
Keigo laughs while reading it out loud, “‘Are you awake?’ Is this guy for real? Man is married with children and still texting like this? Real catch, this one.”
A phone call from the flame hero came in. Keigo tosses Y/n’s phone down to them. Y/n narrowly catches it and answer’s the call.
“Hello, Mr. Todoroki. How are you doing?” Y/n starts into the phone.
“Oh. Is there someone there? I can call back when they leave. When is that?” Enji’s voice is as stiff as ever as he questions Y/n.
“I’ll actually be busy all night so I can’t talk business. You’re welcome to send an email to my agent. I’m sure she’ll respond at her soonest convenience,” Y/n shifted into a sickenly sweet young professional voice.
Keigo watched as Y/n tried to blow off whatever plans Endeavor was trying to set up. Enji paused for a long time, causing Y/n to believe they lost signal. Keigo laughs, shaking his head and grabbing his keys as he lands.
“Hello? Mr. Todoro-” Y/n was cut off by the man on the phone.
“Who are you with?” Enji interrupts, slight irritation in his voice.
Y/n’s disposition falters and Keigo looks at them confused as to what’s wrong.
“Um, I don’t see how who I am with is of concern to you, Mr. Todoroki.” Y/n speaks carefully, sliding on their shoes by the door.
“Are you going out with my son tonight?” Enji attempts to ask casually.
“Yes, I’m going out with him and a bunch of our friends for my birthday. Did you forget that was today?” Y/n quizzed, raising an eyebrow at Keigo.
The duo leaves the apartment. Keigo struggled to contain his laughter as he locked the apartment door behind them.
“Are any of them with you know? Do they know who you’re speaking to?” He continues to grill.
“No, just Hawks. Why? Do you want to take to him,” Y/n looks over and makes eye contact with Keigo who shakes his head furiously from side to side.
“No, that won’t be necessary. Call me when you are home.” Enji demands.
“I probably won’t be home until the early hours of the nigh-” Y/n was cut off again.
“You heard me,” Enji hung up the phone before they could respond.
Y/n scoffed, shoving their phone in their pocket. Keigo laughed at his close friend.
“He’s down bad. It’s kind of gross,” Keigo quips.
---
The two arrived at the nightclub together. Keigo threw his keys toward the valet boy who caught them easily. They enter the loud club, making their way to the back VIP tables. Paparazzi had been clipping photos since they stepped out of Keigo’s sports car. News of the Y/n’s birthday party spread like wildfire and the club was soon twice as packed with fans hoping to brush shoulders with any of the start-studded guests.
“So!” Miruko yelled over the crowd, gaining the attention of Mina, Y/n, and Denki, “who are you sleeping with?”
“I already told you! I lied about that!” Y/n yelled back.
“Well, we don’t believe you!” Denki laughs, handing each of them another shot.
Y/n laughs, before downing the shot with their friends.
It's nearly 2am when a commotion could be heard across the club and the whole VIP section looks over to see an especially irritated looking Enveavor being swarmed by fans.
“Hey, Shoto! Why’s your dad here? You out past curfew?” Katsuki yells over to Shoto.
“No idea,” Shoto responds at a normal volume, eyebrows stitched together.
Y/n looks from Shoto to his father to find the latter already looking at them. Y/n quickly looks away and pretends like they hadn’t seen him and takes another round of shots, this time with Katsuki and Hawks. Katsuki was standing behind Y/n as the three talked around one of the standing tables, his chin resting on their left shoulder, and his hand resting on their right hip.
---
Endeavor watched Y/n stand and leave to another table and how one of his son's school friends was practically hanging off them. He started to make his way across the club, wading through the thick crowd of people before being stopped in the center of the dance floor by his son.
“Why are you here, Endeavor?” Shoto asks calmly.
Endeavor froze. He hadn’t thought that far. He sudden;y found himself lost in a crowd of people thinking about why exactly he was there. He surely couldn’t say he was here for Y/n. Or that them being surrounded by tons of strangers who could potentially whisk them away scared him. And least of all say any of that to his son.
“There is a mission we have to attend to immediately and you weren’t answering your phone,” Endeavor lied through his teeth.
“I’m too inebriated to work. I will attend to whatever you need of me in the morning.” Shoto bargains.
Endeavor gave a short nod, turning back towards the entrance. For a moment, he pauses at the door, looking over his shoulder to find Y/n’s eyes on him once again. He left without speaking a word to them, but showing up like that was a message enough.

Bruno with Pregnant Reader HC
Bruno Madrigal x Pregnant!Reader
Requested: @ryukyshinigami25
A/N: This is my first HC, so bear with me.
As soon as Bruno knew you were pregnant that was it. You weren’t to lift a finger.
You hadn’t seen Bruno smile as much as he did for the next several weeks.
It took much convincing from you and his sisters that you can and should be moving around.
He was always at your side, asking if you needed anything.
It would take either Felix or Agustin pulling him away for you to get any time alone.
Bruno has always been a sympathetic puker. When morning sickness started setting in, Bruno got very good at excusing himself from the situation and throw one of his sisters in to help you.
Bruno loved standing behind you, head resting on your shoulder with his hands cradling your stomach. A position he was commonly found in.
You and Bruno would take strolls through the Encanto, arm in arm.
He’d buy you anything you even considered. Arms always full by the end of the trip.
Bruno wouldn’t admit it, but he was terrified of being a father. He never had one of his own growing up. What does he know about being a parent?
As it became more difficult fo you to move around towards the end of your pregnancy. Bruno found himself extra busy. That included building the crib for your shared room or helping Mirabel sew little plush toys or any of the other hundred things that still needed to get done.
When your water broke Bruno just about fainted.
Whatever anxiety or stress you were feeling, he was feeling it 100% more.
The speed at which that stress turned into pure love for the little bundle in his arms would breakneck.
Any worry about how good of a father he’d be would be gone.
You, his baby, his whole world fit into this little room.

Thanksgiving with the Detectives
Pairing: Connor RK800 x HumanMale!Reader
Word Count: 986
Summary: It’s been a couple of years since the android uprising, and life has started to feel normal again. Y/n and Connor have convinced Hank to let them host Thanksgiving at his house since he has the biggest kitchen of them. Hank relishes the feelings that Connor and Y/n bring to him in what are usually his lowest moments.
Warnings: Alcohol consumption
A/N: Happy Holidays, Everybody! Enjoy the first scheduled story of the month.
Sumo’s bark boomed at the two young men as they entered the old home. Chuckling to themselves as their arms full of food raise above their heads, they weave around the dog and towards the kitchen.
“Sumo! Quiet!” Hank yells as he comes down the hall towards the other two. “You’re late.”
“Connor took at least ten minutes to pick out the perfect bag of potatoes. He also insisted we buy a knucklebone for Sumo. So, we had to wait in the long line at the butcher,” Y/n smiles, unloading the bags onto the counter.
Connor was already kneeling in front of the large dog, treat held out to Sumo.
“Happy Thanksgiving, Sumo,” He whispered, unintentionally loud enough for the other two to hear.
“Are you kidding me? Connor, are you going to help us, or are you going to hang out with Sumo all night?” Hank calls from the kitchen.
“Coming, Detective,” Connor responds, turning and stalking away from the dog that was now too distracted to bother them while cooking.
Connor walks into the kitchen to the backs of Hank and Y/n busy at work. Hank's arms were in the kitchen sink, preparing the turkey and Y/n was peeling potatoes over the open garbage can. He cleanly rolled up his white button-up’s sleeves and set to work, opening the many cans of green beans and cream of mushroom soup. The trio moved around the senior detective's kitchen with ease as they continued cooking.
As soon as Hank dropped the bowl of turkey scraps in front of Sumo, the large dog in feasting. He sits at the head of the table, Y/n, and Connor on either side of him. There was no plate in front of Connor, just a glass of Thirium. Hank grumbled, shifting in his seat.Y/n bumped Hank’s arm with a bowl of mashed potatoes. He hummed at the man to his right in thanks.
“So, Detective,” Connor starts towards the oldest man after sipping from his glass.
Y/n notices how the blue liquid clings to the corners of Connor’s lips, missing his own mouth with a spoonful of mashed potatoes. He wiped his cheeks as Connor continued, seemingly not noticing his friend's fumble. Hank noticed, he always did.
“About the case. I was looking at your notes about the killer’s signature and I noticed-”
Connor is interrupted by Y/n’s laughter and Hank’s gruff voice, “Kid, that’s not something you talk about during Thanksgiving dinner.”
Connor's ring flashes orange and his cheeks flush blue before returning to their normal colors. His other coworkers would still ask him from time to time why he hadn’t removed his sensor, a question neither Hank nor Y/n had ever asked. Hank knew his reasoning, and Y/n never seemed pressed to find out.
“Then what are appropriate topics?” Connor asks, looking between the two humans.
“You’re telling me you didn’t look up Thanksgiving before tonight?” Y/n smirks, eating another mouthful of food.
Connor shakes his head no, “I wanted to learn organically.”
Y/n paused with a small smile and eyes full of what could only be called love. Hank could throw up from the sickeningly sweet tension between his work partner and proby. The two would stay frozen staring at each other if it wasn’t for Hank piping up.
“For one, you say what you're thankful for. I’ll go first,” Hank looked between the two, “I’m thankful for all the leftovers this will have. I won’t have to cook dinner for a week.”
“You don’t cook. You just eat takeout burgers, Detective,” Connor smirked at the old man.
Y/n held in a laugh, covering it with a cough and sipping his beer.
“I do cook,” Hank challenges, leaning forward.
“By the looks of your fridge and garbage, the last three meals you’ve eaten were from Chicken Feed,” Connor parries back.
“Dammit,” Hank smiles, finishing his first beer.
Five beers and a table of food packed away later, Hank and Y/n sat on the small green couch, eating pie. Connor sat on the floor, Sumo’s head in his lap. The trio was watching their first Christmas movie of the night. It was a childhood tradition for Y/n to watch three Christmas movies after Thanksgiving dinner and the other two obliged.
Connor has sidled his back against the couch, between Y/n’s legs right before movie two. Y/n had fallen asleep across the arm of the couch halfway through the third movie, his breaths soft. As the movie came to an end, Connor moved to stand up. Hank quickly grabbed his shoulder, preventing him from standing. Hank had a finger over his mouth, hushing Connor to move slower. Connor looked up and behind him to the sleeping Y/n.
Connor stood up slowly, gently picking up Y/n and following Hank to his guest room. After some help from hank, he gets Y/n tucked into the blanket. He then follows Hank back toward the front room. The two finish the last of the dishes.
“You chickened out, huh?” Hank eyes Connor as he placed another plate in the dishwasher.
“I do not know what you are talking about, Detective,” Connor responds, not looking over at his friend.
“Oh, knock it off with that Detective shit,” Hank scolds the android.
Connor pauses his movement for a moment, spirling red light blinking on his temple. He continues to move, pretending the previous pause hasn’t happened.
“Well, you better do it sooner than later. I heard some interns gossiping that Gavin planned to ask him out for a drink as a bet,” Hank threw the towel over to Connor as he turned and left the kitchen. “You’ve got the rest of these dishes, right Connor? I’m exhausted.”
Connor’s light indicator continued to flash red as he finished the dishes.

Visions of Wedding Bells p.1
Part 2 // Part 3 // Part 4
Pairing: Bruno Madrigal x GenderNeutral!Reader
Word Count: 1k
Summary: Y/n is the first person to receive a prophecy since La Casita was rebuilt and it’s not something even Bruno saw coming.
A/N: This has been done a few times now but I just had to do my own version! I love my little rat man. (The title may change since I don’t love it, if you have any better ideas for the title, let me know.)
Y/n was the first one to sit in that circle of sand since La Casita was rebuilt. Their legs were tucked under them as Bruno set the incense piles up.
“Are you sure you want to do this? Anything that happens isn’t because I’m willing it to.” Bruno spoke softly, looking up through his eyelashes.
Y/n was too nervous to respond verbally, shaking their head slightly in agreement. They had heard the stories of and even remember seeing Bruno Madrigal and his supposedly terrifying miracle growing up. But Y/n knew the Madrigals, and if Mirabel trusted him, so did Y/n. Bruno sighed, finishing the preparations. He lit the spots between them, reaching his palms out and up. Y/n took them as sand and figures began to swirl around them.
Luisa, Isabela, and Y/n ran up towards la casita wide smiles on their faces. Isabela grabs Y/n’s hand and says something, her lips unreadable to Y/n. They wore wedding attire; Luisa and Isabela in matching dressed, Y/n in all white. As the trio approach La Casita’s doors, someone stands there arms wide as Y/n jumps into them. Their face was obscured, the only thing immediately noticeable was the white tux they wore.
The sand starts to waver and Y/n’s attention snaps back to the Madrigal across from them, his eyes glowed a bright green.
“Wait! Who is it? Can you see? Who is it?” Y/n speaks frantically at the man.
Bruno’s eyebrows crease as he tries to look closer but something was stopping him. He shook his head back and forth rapidly.
“No, I can’t see,” Bruno spoke more confused than anything. “I’m sorry.”
Maybe he was just out of practice after not doing visions for so long. Y/n stands, letting go of one of Bruno’s hands, straining to see anything. Suddenly their features began becoming clear and as fast as his face became clear, the sand fell around them. Bruno still sits on the ground, a green glowing tablet now in his hands.
“I didn’t get to see before the sand dropped,” Y/n sighed, looking at the tablet that only showed the back of their suitor’s head and their own smiling face.
“Neither did I,” Bruno knew it was wrong to lie, but he didn’t have it in him to tell them the truth.
He only knew the twenty-something year old a few months. How was he supposed to explain the town boogeyman was their destiny? So, he left that part out. He told them they were going to be happy with who they marry, that they wouldn’t have anything to worry about. Y/n hugs Bruno tightly, similar to the tablet that was now discarded onto the sand. As quick as they hugged them, they were out of his seeing cave and down La Casita’s stairs to share the news with their best friends, his nieces.
The sand around him trembles and bounces the tablet beside him. La Casita wasn’t happy he lied. Bruno picks up the tablet, flipping it to its backside, seeing his own face smiling wide in the embrace. With a loud sigh, he shuffles to a standing position, brushing off the sand on his pants. He stops by the room that kept his bed, placing the tablet on his bed before making his way downstairs. He was mumbling to himself as he left his room.
“They don’t deserve that.” He whispered to himself.
“Who doesn’t deserve what?” Dolores was suddenly next to her tio very curious, “is it about Y/n’s prophecy?”
“What!? No! Where’d you get that idea?” Bruno’s eyes go wide, visibly worried.
“That’s what I thought! I’m going to tell her something is wrong!” Dolores went running down the stairs before being pulled back by her tio’s grip on her arm.
“You will not bring anything up. There isn’t anything to bring up.” Bruno looked her sternly in the eyes.
Dolores gives a short nod before wiggling free and running down the stairs. Bruno rubs his eyes as he descends the stairs and into the kitchen. Isabela suddenly passes him, pulling Y/n close behind her, saying something about having to find the perfect wedding outfit fabric. Looking into the kitchen, he sees his older sister, Julieta. She can instantly tell something was bothering him.
“What’s wrong, Brunito? It sounds like the vision went well,” Julieta spoke comfortingly, motioning for him to sit at the table.
“Yeah, it did. A little too well.” Bruno’s hands found his face, hiding it from his sister.
“Oh? What did it show?” Julieta sat across her brother.
Bruno mumbles something into his hands. Not even the warm arepas had him uncovering his face.
“It what?” Julieta prods.
Bruno’s hands slam the table as he says exasperated, “me! I saw me! I was the one they were hugging. The one in a wedding tux!” A small squeak comes from the door. When the siblings looked, all they saw was the hem of a familiar red skirt. Bruno deflates and his hands find his face again.
“Now everyone is going to know,” Bruno mumbles into his hands.
Julieta pushes the plate of arepas closer the Bruno before standing and leaving to find the snooping Madrigal. By the time Julieta exits the kitchen, Dolores was already in front of Isabela and Y/n. Julieta takes a deep breath, approaching the friends.
“What are you all talking about?” Julieta asks as innocently as she can.
“Dolores was just telling us about the part of Y/n’s vision tio Bruno forgot to tell them,” Isabela says, arms crossing over her chest, irritation obvious on her face.
Julieta looks at Y/n, their face was unreadable. Behind Julieta, Y/n could see Bruno peeking out from behind the kitchen door before he quickly disappeared from sight. La Casita’s tiles began to tremble and before anyone was able to react, Y/n was being dragged towards the kitchen.

Visions of Wedding Bells p.2
Part 1 // Part 3
Pairing: Bruno Madrigal x GenderNeutral!Reader
Word Count: 1019
Summary: Bruno and Julieta go into town to buy some things and end up at Y/n's parent's flower cart.
A/N: I’m thinking the last part will be the lunch. Unless these to parts do oddly well.
Tags: (Cause you showed interest. I can take you off if you’d like) @cynochilde2 @ghostwith
The tile folded and shifted beneath Y/n’s chanclas as they were pulled into the kitchen, something Y/n hadn’t gotten used to even after all these years of La Casita pulling them around. The door to the kitchen was pulled tight by La Casita. Across the kitchen was a confused Bruno Madrigal, arepa shoved halfway into his mouth. He hadn’t paid attention to who or where La Casita was moving. Walking to the other side of the table from Bruno, Y/n picks up an arepa, inspecting it closely.
“Are your visions fate? Nothing will change it?” Y/n asks, not looking away from the arepa in their hands.
A soft mmhm across the table and slight frantic chewing are heard.
“Well, my friends will not be calling me tia,” Y/n looks across the table at Bruno, a small smile on their lips. They used the arepa to gesture towards him, much like how Julieta used to when they were young, “and you’re going to actually court me. None of this Abuela fast passing it. I’m going to make you work for it.”
Bruno’s eyes grew wide with every word that fell from Y/n’s smile. He had expected them to fight it, tell him he’s wrong, that he was just some weirdo tio in town. But no, they weren’t fighting it. Bruno didn’t dare move other than the slow head nod at Y/n. He hadn’t looked them, or anyone really, this long in the eyes before. Y/n did a short nod in response the Bruno, taking a bite out of the arepa, turning towards the kitchen door. The door slowly swung open to reveal Isabela, Dolores, and even Julieta each with an ear against where the door was. Y/n chuckles, stepping over the three Madrigal women.
Swallowing the last of their arepa and waving, Y/n turns and calls to the Madrigals, “I’ll be back around noon tomorrow with my parents for lunch!”
Burno now stood in the doorway of La Casita, watching Y/n bound down the hill towards the Encanto. His cheeks burned red on his tanned skin. Alma takes her place next to Bruno, also watching the young adult getting lost in the crowd below. After a moment, Alma lets out a small humph, turning back into La Casita, approaching Julieta to quickly talk about lunch tomorrow. Bruno quickly caught up to his mother as she ascended the stairs toward her room.
“Mama,” Bruno sounded small, scared to address the women now above him.
Alma stops halfway up the stairs and slowly turns to her youngest, a small considerate smile on her face. “Go help your sister prepare for tomorrow’s lunch since she now has to make something for four more mouths in mind. I’m sure Y/n’s younger sister will be joining us too. Y/n and their mother like begonias. You should get their mother white ones, her sister pink ones, and Y/n red ones.” She stares down at her son. How he reminded her of when he was young right now, her nervous and kind Brunito.
Bruno shook his head with determination, turning and following behind his sister as she left for town to buy more ingredients tomorrow. He took one of the wicker baskets from his sister as they went into town. The two walk around Encanto buying anything they’d need for tomorrow.
“Mama says I should bring flowers for them and I don’t think they should be grown by my niece.” Bruno chuckles out, looking over to Julieta.
“Well, there is a florist in town.” Julieta starts, a mischievous grin forming. “But only if you’re sure you don’t want Isabela to grow them for you.”
Bruno shakes his head quickly, “No, I should buy them.”
The two walk-in silence to the florist, stopping every so often for Julieta to stop and help treat someone’s injury or illness. Finally, they arrive at a stall nearly completely covered in flowers, some Bruno hadn’t seen before. A small woman comes around the cart, waving off someone on the other side.
“Yes, we’ll talk about this later… Hola! Would you like to buy some flowers?” She finally looks at her visitors, slight shock appearing on her face, “Oh! The Madrigals! Y/n come!” The women waved around the back of the cart.
“Oh? Is Isabela and Luisa here?” Y/n questions, coming around the cart and looking at who the visitors were. “Oh. Hola.”
Bruno gives Y/n a small wave with a crooked smile, which Y/n returns slightly confused. Julieta speaks for her brother.
“We are here to get flowers for some guests we will be having tomorrow,” Julieta smiles, caressing a rose, and looking back at the woman. “I’m sure your child has told you, Mrs.Lopez?”
“She has,” Y/n’s mother smiles now at Bruno, who is shaken back to reality by a kick from his sister.
“Oh, I am Bruno Madrigal, ma’am. It’s lovely to meet you,” Bruno bows slightly, reaching out his hand and gently shaking hers.
“Hello, Bruno. What kind of flowers can I get you today? Y/n, gather paper wraps in a cone for me.”
Y/n disappears back behind the cart as Bruno showed what flowers he wanted from Y/n’s mother. Y/n’s breathing was slightly labored as they prepped the paper cones for their mother. They did not want their parents to encounter Bruno for the first time outside of La Casita. There were too many variables at play out here.
“Y/n! Paper cones?” Y/n’s mother called out.
Y/n was quickly next to their mother, helping her wrap and hand them off to Julieta and Bruno, who then give Y/n’s mother coins. As quickly as they were there, they were gone again. Y/n lets out a breath they didn’t know they were holding, leaning back onto the cart, causing it to roll slightly. Y/n’s mother chuckles, as she puts the coins into her purse.
“He seems kind,” Y/n’s father no stood next to them, causing Y/n to jump.

Running on Instinct
Pairing: Merman!Shoto Todoroki x Male!MarineBiologist!Reader
Word Count: 5500
Summary: Quirkless AU for Mermay 2022. Y/n works endlessly to improve the living situation of a small group of merfolk being kept in poor conditions at a rehabilitation facility. One playful merman in particular pulls more of Y/n’s attention than the others. When an orphaned merpup comes into the rehabilitation facility, will Shoto be willing to help the frantic Y/n?
Inspired by this artwork by @peterokii
Warnings: Merfolk kept in bad conditions, Reader almost drowned on accident, baby in critical need
A/N: In a surprise addition to Mermay, I come in with less than 24 hours left in May. This is the longest single chapter story I’ve posted. I was truly inspired by Pete’s artwork and how he drew Shoto’s facial expressions. Just as a warning, I proof read the first half of this but not the second half. I hope y’all like it!
Y/n squat near the edge of the deep tank, hand between his legs for support, looking for what could be in the depths. The occasional glimpse of a tattered tail caught the light. After a few moments, just below the water’s surface, a pair of eyes looked up towards Y/n, one grey and one electric blue. Half red and half white hair fell flat to the sides of the mermans face as he emerged from the water, looking at Y/n curiously. Y/n looked behind the mermaid and noticed how much the normally long fins of the Butterfly Koi merman were short and jagged.
“You’re new,” the merman whispers, nose now inches from Y/n’s.
“I am,” Y/n smiles, reaching into his messenger bag and offering the small plastic container of cooked shrimp he had brought.
“Hey! Watch out!” Someone calls from behind Y/n.
The loud voice of the research manager, Warden spooks the mermaid, causing him to quickly grab the container of shrimp, turn tail and disappear back under the water. Looking over his shoulder, Y/n gives Warden a confused look.
“Watch out for what? We were doing introductions.” Y/n says casually, standing up and wiping off the water that had been splashed onto his arms by the merman.
“I’ve nearly lost two interns to that seamonster pulling them under,” Warden stood tall, arms crossed.
Y/n had quickly learned what kind of person Warden was. Multiple anonymous complaints was filed for this rehabilitation center for how they were treating their resuces. Things like barely feeding them, not maintaining enclosures, and profiting off of the merfolk instead of actual rehibiltaion and releasing those who can be. All things that went against the wildlife code of ethics. Which is why Y/n, one of the leading merfolk experts was sent in to asses the situation. Warden had already attempted to block Y/n from looking at certain rooms of the facility. Being interrupted when he was finally meeting one of the merfolk here felt like the last straw.
“Do you have incident reports from those two interns?” Y/n asked, body language matching Wardens.
“I probably do, in my office,” Warden turned, heading towards the front of the facility.
Probably? This man felt less like a rehabilitation specialist and more of a villain with every passing second. Digging into his bag, Y/n pulled out his work binder. Flipping between paper folders, he stops on one labeled Emergency Power Transfer Paperwork. Tapping on the back of the binder, Y/n turns back towards the tank, reading what information he’d need to get from Warden, hopefully without him realizing what he was doing. Y/n began filling out some of the paperwork as he waited. A quiet stuttering voice pulled Y/n’s attention to the water in front of him.
“Marine Poli-cy Speec- Speci…” The merman from before was squinting at the binder in Y/n’s hands trying to sound out the words on the front of it.
“Marine Policy Specialist. You can read?” Y/n asked, setting down the binder and pen as he squatted down to talk to the mermaid.
“No. Yes. A little.” The merman lit up a bit, his hands found the edge of the tank, pulling himself to mid chest out of the water so they were eye level.
“Nice, who taught you?” Y/n questioned.
“My old keeper. She stopped showing up on day when I was young,” the merman seemed to deflate at the memory.
“How long have you been here?” Y/n shifted so he was sitting with his legs crossed.
“My whole life.” He smiled at Y/n, excited to have someone to talk to.
Y/n paused. He had been born and raised here? How long has this mistreatment been going on? This merman couldn’t be much older than him, but unlicensed merfolk breeding had been outlawed since before either of them were born and this facility hadn’t reported rescuing any pregnant mermaids in all its time in operation.
“Are you in this tank alone?” Y/n’s head quirked to the side, trying to find anyone else in the large tank.
The merman sunk back into the water so only the top half of his face was showing, hair pooling around him. He shook head from side to side. Y/n’s eyes go wide. He knew Butterfly Koi merfolk lived in groups, or glints. How long had this merman been alone? That would explain the interns being dragged into the water. If this facility wasn’t going to re-release these merfolk back into the ocean, the least they could do was bring in enough for a small pod.
“I’m sorry our introduction was interrupted earlier. My name is Y/n. What’s yours?” Y/n reached his right hand out, palm facing the ceiling.
“Shoto,” he whispered, reaching out to lay his hand atop of Y/n.
The chill of merfolk was never something Y/n had become accustomed to. The hair on his arms raised.
“What did I say about that creature?” Warden boomed, running up and yanking Y/n back by the collar.
Y/n tore himself from Warden’s grip, turning back to where Shoto had been. A small puddle where Shoto had lifted his hand out of the tank was all that remained. Turning back to Warden, Y/n’s face was red and fuming.
“In accordance with the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association,” Y/n grabs and flips through his binder again, pulling out the folder he was looking at moments ago and shoving it into Warden’s arms, “I hereby take control of this facility as we restructure it. And don’t ever grab somebody like that, or you’re no better than what you think that merman is.”
Warden’s eyes go wide as he flips through the partially filled out forms, sputtering to find words.
“If you think this is a mistake, you are welcome to contact the board and have a second person come out and investigate, but I doubt they’ll disagree with my conclusion. Until then, I must request you hand over your keys,” Y/n aggressively adjusted his ruffled shirt as he spoke.
The next couple of hours were occupied by filling out paper work and closing the aquarium side of the facility until further notice. Y/n couldn’t ignore the smug smiles on the faces of some of the volunteers as Warden left in his car without saying a single goodbye.
Y/n reached into his lab coat pocket for his pen when he realized he had left it tank side in the flurry of commandeering the facility. He let out a soft sigh and weaved his way back through the facility and up the tank ladder to where he was earlier. At the edge of the tank stood the empty plastic container and his pen placed neatly next to it. Approaching them, he noticed the poorly scribbled word ‘thank’ on top in blue ink that smudged with the droplets of water on top. Y/n smiled, picking up the items and storing them in his bag. The shrimp was supposed to be a part his lunch, but he could always get something on the way home.
The next day, Y/n woke up at 3 am in an attempt to beat the restaurant owners to the local fish market. He had received a list of all the different merfolk being kept at the facility and wanted to make sure he bought all the preferred foods for each. But when his white van pulled into the fisherman dock, it was already bustling. Y/n jumps out of the van, grabbing his messenger bag as he does. Entering the large warehouse, the familiar smell of fish and the shouting voices of those around him assault’s Y/n’s sense.
“Y/n! Long time since we’ve seen you down here!” Eijiro, a fisherman who had let Y/n sail with him while he was in school, barked out across the aisle.
Y/n smiled, shifting between people to stand in front of Eijiro’s stand.
“I’m working at a new facility that desperately needs help. Think you can help me with what I need?” Y/n help out the shopping list he had thrown together.
Eijiro looked at the list in his hands, inspecting it and nodding every so often. Looking up, he handed the list back to Y/n.
“I can give you most of this stuff myself for free and what I can’t, I can get you a discount from the others.” Eijiro shouts.
“I can pay for it, Eiji! I don’t want to take advantage of your kindness” Y/n smiles.
“Absolutely not! You’re doing good work. Couldn’t take advantage if you tried.” Eijiro says over his shoulder, already packing what he could for Y/n.
“Fine, but I’m going to need this stuff consistently. This is the only time I’ll take it for free!” Y/n shouts back.
Eijiro just waves his hand aimlessly over his shoulder as he continues to pack fish. About two hours later, Y/n’s van is packed with crates of fish, crusteations, and even some fresh produce. Eijiro closed the back barn doors, leaning on it and looking down at Y/n.
“So, how bad is it?” Eijiro asks casually.
Y/n lets out a long sigh, “pretty bad. They aren’t even keeping the grouping merfolk together. There’s a butterfly koi merman who has never met another merfolk.
Eijiro let out a long low whistle before he spoke, “Didn’t you specialize in butterfly koi? Whatever. I just don’t understand some people. Merfolk are so important to our oceans, and they’ve got just as many emotions as we do. The operators of that place are lucky I wasn’t there, or else I would hav-”
“Well, we can’t all be big and buff like you, Eiji,” Y/n chuckles lightly, rubbing his eyes. “I need to go and get started on food prep. I’ll see you around.”
“Don’t over work yourself, Y/n,” Eijiro lightly shoved Y/n’s shoulder before disappearing back into the fish market.
The facilities small kitchen was packed with food and the four volunteers who agreed to show up at 5:30 am to start preparing the food with Y/n. He showed them each a few different food preps for the merfolk they were each assigned before getting to work on his own designated meals.
“Uh, Mr. Y/l/n? I know for a fact Momo, the Black Moor mermaid hates blood worms,” the volunteer Y/n had learned was named Uraraka mentions, walking up with the container of blood worms he had put in the Black Moor’s food box.
Y/n looked up from the large pan of shrimp he was cooking, smiling at her, “oh, well then don’t include those.”
“Really? But you bought them. Warden would have told us not to waste the money and feed them to her anyways.” Uraraka looked relieved at Y/n’s words.
“If a merfolk doesn’t like something, we won’t feed it to them. What if someone forced you to eat meatloaf, but you hated it?” Y/n turned to the other volunteers as he spoke, “if there is anything in the boxes that you know the merfolk won’t like, don’t force it. And if you could write a list of each merfolks likes and dislikes, I’ll be sure to adjust what I buy. And I want to add enrichment to their tanks. Mirrors, foliage, hideaways. Anything you can think of that we can get on the short term before we can really renovate the tanks would be great.”
They all nodded back to him, large smiles on their faces. Some took a few items out of their boxes or switched items with each other. It was 8 am before they were all ready to start delivering breakfast to them all. Y/n and Uraraka walked down one of the hallways together, each with a cart full of prepared food.
“When was the last time they had food prepared like this?” Y/n asked, side eyeing the volunteer.
Uraraka shrugged her shoulders, “I couldn’t tell you. Not since before I started volunteering here about 7 months ago.”
They separated at the fork. Y/n saved the Butterfly koi merman for last. The other Y/n delivered breakfast to didn’t look much better than him, some obviously ill. Y/n would have to get a merfolk doctor as soon as he could to check all of them. Y/n struggled up the last tank ladder with the tub of food. Getting to the top, he set down the tub, kneeling down at the edge of the water.
Y/n reached out, tapping the surface of the water a few times before sitting back with his legs crossed. Across the tank, similar red and white hair surfaced looking towards the water was disturbed. His eyes squint before landing on the man who had visited yesterday. Sinking back under the water, he quickly swam his way over. Reemerging from the water up to his shoulders, he could smell the food in the tub.
“Did you bring more of those little pink things?” He quizzed, craning his neck to get a look into the tub.
“Shrimp? Yes, I did. You’ve never had shrimp before that, have you?” Y/n smiled softly.
Shoto just shook his head lightly, reaching out for the tub. Y/n caught it before he could drag it into the water. Shoto looked back to Y/n confused.
“I have one question,” Y/n said quickly.
“More shrimp,” he quickly said.
When Shoto didn’t respond, Y/n continued, “is there anything you want? I can have it brought in.”
Y/n had asked all of the merfolk he had fed this, and he planned on asking the rest when he was finally able to make introductions with all of them. But this some how felt more important. This merman has never experienced what to ocean had to offer. Would he even have anything to wish for?
Y/ chuckled softly, “You’ll get plenty of shrimp. I meant something for your tank.”
Shoto looked into the tub with a thoughtful gaze before patting the edge and whispering, “More things with tops. I liked opening the thing you gave me yesterday.”
Y/n smiled at him, letting go of the tub. Shoto quickly yanked it, turning it over in the water as he sank it to the bottom to eat. Y/n sighed. Bucket with lids? All this merman could think of was something he had been introduced to yesterday? Y/n shook his head as he got up to go ask the rest of the merfolk things they wanted. He left confident the volunteers there would be able to handle dinner prep.
Y/n had noticed how dirty the merfolk enclosures were when touring the aquarium side of the facility later that week. He didn’t want to put anything into their tanks without some sort of basic cleaning being down. He started with partial water changes on all the tanks, stopping there for any merfolk who refused to let him into the tanks. Y/n had already cleaned most of what he could before getting to Shoto’s tank a second time that day.
Y/n climbed up the ladder with his scuba gear. The tub from breakfast was sitting neatly on the edge of the tank platform. Grabbing it, Y/n turned back towards the ladder, taking a step back towards the ladder to drop the tub down to the bottom. Before he could take another step, an ice cold hand wrapped tight around the ankle of his wetsuit. Look behind him, Shoto reached far out of his tank up to his waist, chest almost flush with the platform. He looked at Y/n’s wetsuit boots, avoiding eye contact.
“I’m just putting the tub where one of the volunteers can grab it. I’ll come right back,” Y/n said casually.
Shoto released Y/n’s ankle and watch as the bent over and dropped the tub to somewhere he couldn’t see. Turning around, Y/n walked back towards him, a bright smile on his face.
“I saw you across the way in the black mermaid tank. Are you going to get in mine?” Shoto’s face wasn’t readable to Y/n.
Y/n paused halfway, looking at him worried, “only if you want me to. I won’t do anything you don’t want me t--”
“Yes!” Shoto almost shouted, face lighting up.
“Okay,” Y/n’s smile back on his face, “but I can’t just hang out. I’m going to do some cleaning. And then,” Y/n pointed behind him to a large bag full of something Shoto couldn’t see, “I’ve got a surprise for you.”
Y/n geared up to jump into the 50 degrees Fahrenheit water. As he pulled the air mask over his face, Shoto looked at him confused.
“Why are you putting so much stuff just to swim?” He asked, tapping his hands in the puddle of water he had created on the platform where he waited.
“Because,” Y/n said, pulling the mask away from his face slightly so he wouldn't be muffled, “I can’t breath underwater like you can.”
This pulled an even more confused look from Shoto and suddenly his pulling down of those interns made even more sense. They were probably nice to him and he hadn't known they couldn’t breathe under the water. Y/n gave him a sad smile before pulling the clear full face mask back over his face.
Y/n sat at the edge of the platform, feet dipping into the water. he went to push off the edge of the platform when two hands grabbed his waist and yanked him into the water. The sudden all-over cold shocked Y/n for a second despite the thick wetsuit he wore but the excited look of the merman pulling him deeper into the water quickly distracted him. Shoto watched as Y/n’s scared look turned into a bright smile and how his hair started to float around his head exactly how Shoto had imagined it would.
Y/n tread water where Shoto had let go of him deep in the tank. Shoto swam back up to the top, grabbing both the bucket of cleaning brushes Y/n had brought and the sack of mystery Y/n had mentioned earlier. He let the sack float to the bottom of the tank as he carried the other box back to where Y/n swam.
“Here you go,” Shoto’s voice was clear as day to Y/n as he held the bucket between them.
Y/n started to clean the sides of the tank after years of algae buildup. It was obvious whoever the divers were before were instructed to only clean the main viewing window which was relatively spotless. After about ten minutes of Shoto carefully watching Y/n clean the sides of his cage, he was over, picking up a matching brush for the box and scrubbing next to him.
“Like this?” Shoto asks.
Slowly turning his head towards the Merman, Y/n chuckles, watching Shoto enthusiastically cleaning the side of his own tank. Y/n nods, hair following slowly behind. His hair reminded Shoto of the big fake seaweed plants that were in his home when he was young with how it moved. With the extra help, Y/n was able to scrub clean the sides as best he could. He packed up the cleaning box, having to try and convince Shoto to give back the brush he had been using but eventually gave up.
Y/n swam back up to the surface, hoisting the box up onto the platform. He took off his breathing mask and positioned his arms to hoist himself up onto the platform when a hand grabbed his ankle pulling him back under the water. Taking whatever breath he could before being submerged.
Shoto pulled them halfway down before looking up at Y/n. His excited face suddenly filled with panic when he noticed Y/n’s breathing mask floating a couple of feet above his head. He reached up trying to put it over Y/n’s face. Y/n shook his head back and forth frantically, trying to swim back to the surface. Shoto’s hands scooped under Y/n’s arms, swimming as fast as he could back to the surface. As they broke the surface, Y/n gasped for air.
“You could have killed me,” Y/n heaved between breaths.
Looking at Shoto, Y/n could see the fear in his eyes before he disappeared deep into his tank. Y/n caught their breath as they swam back to the platform, pulling himself up without interruption. His legs and flippers were still in the water, expecting Shoto to resurface eventually. After a few moments with no return of the merman, Y/n left Shoto’s area. The rest of the day until dinner would be filling out paperwork and checks for the medical care the different merfolk needed.
“Knock, knock,” Eijiro’s bright smile filled Y/n’s office a few hours later.
“Hey, Eiji. Ready for that tour?” Y/n asked, arms crossing and leaning forward onto his desk.
Y/n promised to give Eijiro and his crew a tour of the facility during dinner so he wouldn’t actually be helping with the delivery of food. Most of them had never seen merfolk up close and Eijiro next to begged Yn to let his crew see them. Y/n had reluctantly agreed of course. It was next to impossible to say no to Eijiro Kirishima when he gave those puppy dog eyes.
Y/n showed them first where they prepped the food and how the diets of different merfolk differed depending on where in the ocean they were found. Then he led them down the different hallways aquarium side. The boat crew was mesmerized by the merfolk who swam up to the glass once they saw Y/n had been walking with them. Y/n introduced the different merfolk with their names and where they were normally found in the oceans.
Walking up to Momo’s tank she was quick to swim up to the glass. One of the crew, Mashirao was humming a song and Momo could hear it through the glass. She tapped the glass in front of him, a wide smile on her face.
“You like that song, Momo?” Y/n asked her, he then turned to the crew, “I had a sound system set up so I’d be able to communicate with the merfolk while on this side of the glass. Which means any sound you make, they’ll be able to hear.”
Momo nodded her head quickly in agreement. Eijiro let out a deep bellied laugh, before turning to his crew.
“Well, give the lass what she wants!” Eijiro punched the shoulder of Mashirao.
Mashirao laughed in response and started to sing Randy Dandy-O, the song he had been humming. More of the crew joined in, causing the merfolk in neighboring tanks to swim up with their dinners to the glass to watch with excitement. Y/n stood a few feet from the group and looked around at the scene with a fond smile.
“I’ll have to bring you guys back more often if the merfolk like your singing so much!” Y/n called out to Eijiro who led his crew into a second song.
Y/n looked behind him at the glass of Shoto’s tank. He could faintly see the white and orange tail of the merman but he was keeping his distance for some reason. Walking over, he cupped his hands around his eyes and put his face up to the glass. Trying to focus deeper into the water, something suddenly came flying right where his face was, causing him to jump back. Looking at the bottom of the tank, a single shrimp lay there. Suddenly, a frantic looking Uraraka came scurrying up to Y/n.
“Um, excuse me. I’m sorry to interrupt, but Shoto is refusing to eat his food.” Uraraka looked at her feet.
“Why do you look so glum?” Eijiro’s booming voice asked, walking up to the pair.
“I’m sorry, Eiji. I’ve got to go deal with something. Uraraka. You used to give tours right? Could you show them the rest of the facility while I take care of this?” Y/n asked.
Uraraka agreed and Y/n quickly disappeared through one of the doors that led to the tank access area. Y/n puffed, ascending the ladder the Shoto’s tank platform, the sound of one of the volunteers bickering at the merman.
“Hey! Stop! Don’t throw your food at me!”
Y/n saw the sour-faced Shoto, arm reared back to throw another algae ball at the volunteer when he reached the top of the ladder.
“Hey!” Y/n barked.
Shoto’s head whipped to Y/n.
“Stop throwing food at him. He’s just doing his job. What’s got you so mad?” Y/n said, picking up pieces of food as he approached, dumping them all into the tub he snatched back from Shoto.
Shoto glared at the volunteer as he scurried out of sight down the ladder. Y/n tucked the tub under their left arm, his right hand found his hip. Tapping his foot, Y/n waited for Shoto’s response. Shoto watched Y/n’s feet, refusing to speak.
“Fine! Don’t tell me.” Y/n set the tub back in front of the merman. “Stop throwing your food at people.”
Y/n turned to leave. As he neared the ladder, he felt something thump against the back of his head, landing without a sound on the ground behind him. Turning back around, he sees a shrimp near his feet. Looking back up at the merman irritated, Shoto’s back was not turned away from him. Without hesitation, Y/n picked up the piece of shrimp, launching it back at the merman, hitting him in the back of the head with the shrimp before it sunk into the water below. Shoto turned around with an incredulous look on his face.
“Unlike my staff, if you’re going to throw food at me, I’ll throw it back at you,” Y/n spoke sternly with Shoto.
Y/n turned back around to leave before he was hit in the back of the head, this time with a ball of moss. He whipped back around, ready to chastise him when he saw the wide smile Shoto wore. He thought this was a game. Y/n’s stern look dropped, chuckling lightly as he picked up the ball of moss he had hidden in one of the containers he had given Shoto earlier that day.
Y/n crossed back over to the merman, squatting in front of him, holding out the ball. Shoto reached for the ball, but instead grabbed Y/n’s wrist, pulling him into the water. Y/n quickly bobbed back to the surface as Shoto swam around behind him, pushing him towards the center of the tank. Shoto turned Y/n quickly in the water to face him, hands staying on his shoulders. Y/n shivered in the water in his street clothes.
“Who is Eiji?” Shoto asks, eyebrows knitting together.
“Eijiro? He’s the captain of the boat I studied on. Why?” Y/n responded, confused.
“Why did you bring him here? Why is he the one you buy all our food from?” Shoto interrogated.
“He wanted to show his crew what merfolk were really like. And because he’s a friend. Hey, wait, why does that matter to you? Why did you pull me into your tank? It’s freezing to me,” Y/n questions back, placing his hands over Shoto’s to help him stay afloat in the cold water.
Shoto slid his hands out from underneath Y/n’s swimming a few feet away before speaking, “I don’t want to eat shrimp from him.”
Shoto disappeared back beneath the water without another word. Y/n rolled his eyes, paddling back to the platform, and getting out of the tank. By the time Y/n had found a towel and changed into dry clothes, Eijiro and his crew were gearing up to leave.
“Sorry I missed the second half. Shoto seems to be bothered by something.” Y/n apologized as he walked up to Eijiro, rubbing the towel into his hair.
Eijiro laughed at his soaked friend, “ I heard from Uraraka. Sounds like you’ve got a jealous siren on your hands.”
“Huh?” Y/n’s face filled with confusion.
“My dad used to tell me about how he became close with this mershark when he first started sailing. His first love, he’d always say. Would pick off any of the crew that got too close to him. Had to set some boundaries after the third first mate drowned. Anyways, We should head out. We’ve got an early day tomorrow.” Eijiro flashed his sharp teeth with a smile and pulled Y/n into a tight side hug before disappearing outside.
Y/n sat in his office, face in his hands as he sighed. Only about half of the merfolk were candidates for rerelease. Thankfully, the rest would be able to be used for education and research, granted they were willing to do so. The only one Y/n worried about was Shoto. He was the only one Shoto would really interact with, and even that had been sparse since Eijiro’s visit two days ago. Y/n wasn’t sure if he’d be able to stay at this facility or not. He had already filled and turned in the necessary paperwork for a permanent, but that wasn’t guaranteed. Y/n worried about what would happen if Shoto refused to cooperate with other marine biologists. Would they release him anyway? Hoping he’d be able to survive on his own? Shoto had never seen the world beyond what his tank would let him see. Y/n knew he wouldn’t last a day alone in the ocean. A harsh knock sounded on the office door before Uraraka came bursting in, out of breath.
“Baby merfolk. No mother. Way too cold.” She spoke quickly before disappearing back into the hall.
Y/n jumped out of his desk chair, following behind Uraraka to the loading dock. Opening the door, Y/n saw Tenya, the newest volunteer, running towards them, a tiny Butterfly Koi merpup in his arms. Transferring the baby to Y/n, he rushes down the hall towards the incubator before coming to a skidding stop.
“Why are you stopping?” Tenya asked, slowing down so he wouldn’t run into Y/n’s back.
“The incubator will be too hot for him,” Y/n said, turning and running through the doors towards the tanks.
Uraraka followed him fast, “but we don’t have any mothers.”
“I know,” called Y/n, climbing a ladder as fast as he could.
Once on the platform, Y/n ran, taking a deep breath in, and jumped into the water. He held the baby close to his chest and gave it as much of his own body heat as he could. Uraraka skid to a stop at the edge of the tank, watching Shoto swim faster than he ever had to the sinking Y/n. Shoto grabbed either arm of Y/n ready to pull them back to the service before he noticed the baby in his arms. Y/n shoved the child into Shoto’s arms, which he quickly took. Y/n swam back to the surface as fast as he could, gasping once he finally made it back to the surface.
“You think he’ll know what to do?” Uraraka asked frantically.
Y/n pulled himself out of the water with the help of Uraraka, “there’s only one way of knowing.”
Y/n slid down the ladder and ran around to the glass of Shoto’s cage. He stopped, heaving as he attempted to catch his breath. Tenya was soon next to him, wrapping a towel around his shoulders. Looking into the tank, Y/n could see Shoto curled into a ball in the corner that kept his bed. Y/n let out a deep sigh.
“It worked,” Y/n whispered, falling to the ground and sitting.
Tenya and Uraraka did the same as they watched Shoto start to fret over the child as it tried to wiggle out of his grasp as it warmed up.
“How’d you know that’d work?” Uraraka asked, a smile on her face.
“I didn’t,” Y/n admitted. “I sure prayed it would though. There wouldn’t have been a mother. Butterfly Koi mermen are the ones who care for the young. Are they sure there weren’t any merfolk in the area that was watching the baby?”
“Yeah,” Tenya started, “I watched the pup for the last three days and not a single merfolk ever approached the baby.”
“You did the right thing, Tenya.” Y/n said, falling onto their back, suddenly exhausted.

Sunkissed
Pairing: Ex!Tamaki Amajiki x Reader, Yo Shindo x Reader
Word Count: 2578
Summary: Part 2 of One Step Forward, Three Steps Back. After the Hero Commission decides Y/n Bakugo and Yo Shindo will pretend to be a couple, the two attend their first official hero event together. Shindo begrudgingly could only compare Y/n that of the Sun, leaving a sun kissed feeling on his skin whenever they touch. Shindo then meets Y/n’s now infamous ex, Suneater. Loosely inspired by Sunkissed by Khai Dreams.
Warnings: general angst. minor alcohol consumption
A/N: I was never going to write a part two to this, but it just kind of happened. I think this is the longest single chapter I've written and I cut it short. Oops.
The cold evening air enveloped Y/n, sending a shiver down her spine. The only solace being the large warm hand on her low back leading her down the red carpet. The constant flashing of cameras and hollering from paparazzi was something one got used to when being a pro hero, but tonight was different. All cameras were pointed at Y/n and the man standing next to her, Yo Shindo. Everything had been planned from the way her gold slip dress matched his gold jaw guards to his pocket square and tie, and her eye makeup matching the distinct green normally found on her hero costume. The walk from the car they arrived in to the entrance felt miles away as they slowly made their way into the gala.
“The Hero Commission has decided to pair you with Pro Hero Grand. You’ll have to act as a couple for as long as the Commissions sees fit.” Hawks says, looking at the papers in his hand.
“Excuse me? They can’t just do something like that! I won’t do it.” Y/n spoke, shocked that hawks would green-light such a thing.
“Considering that stunt you pulled 6 months ago with your ex, you don’t really get much say in the matter. You may be popular but that left a lot of fans of the two of you with him and Hado to look towards. The Hero Commission thought it good to keep your fans following you over him.” Hawks tossed the packet of papers in front of Y/n as he spoke.
Y/n stalked down the red carpet with the same detached smile she had come accustomed to using until gentle fingers on her chin pulled her attention away from the cameras. Shindo smiled down towards her, just like they had practiced. He leaned down to whisper into her ear.
Shindo’s deep voice filling her senses, “try not to look so miserable. We’re supposed to be a happy couple, remember?”
“Do I really look that miserable?” Y/n turns her face to look Shindo in the eyes, their faces centimetres apart.
Shindo tucks a loose piece of hair behind Y/n’s ear, the pair frozen for a few seconds too long, warm breath mingling as they stared at each other. Clearing his throat, Shindo pulls away from her, smoothing his black suit blazer, and holding a hand out towards her. Y/n watches as he does this, blush visible at the tips of her ears. She can do this, she thinks, she can pretend to be happy with this man she barely knew. Taking his hand, she intertwined their fingers.
“Villain above you!” A loud voice shouted from behind Y/n, causing her to look up and send a large explosion towards the villain.
Turning towards the voice that helped her, Y/n saw a man in black pants and vest put his hands against the building she had just shot the villain back into. His gold jaw guard shined in the mid day sun. The next second, the building began to shake, causing the group of villains that had set their base up in the abandoned building to rush out the lower level exits. Y/n watched as chunks of concrete began to fall, and blasting any pieces that threaten to fall onto onlookers.
“Hey! Watch it! There are civilians around and we can’t have debris falling on them!” Y/n shouted at the other hero who had shown up last minute to assist in the raid.
“Maybe if you had a quirk that better suited this raid, I wouldn’t have to swoop in and help in the first place!” The mystery hero shouted back, rushing towards a small group villains.
Amajiki and Hado had arrived two cars after Y/n and Shindo, not noticing the other couple ahead of them until a small commotion by paparazzi pulled his attention from posing for photos. He wanted to believe her dating Yo Shindo was just a rumor, but he was proven wrong. He watched as the new couple looked at each other and how Y/n seemed to melt into his touch as they spoke far to quiet for anyone else to hear. Amajiki’s stomach turned with jealousy. It had been nearly 7 months since Y/n had broken up with him; he had told himself he wouldn’t be jealous when she finally finds someone else. It was his own fault after all. But watching her take the hand of that man made him feel sick to his stomach. A small tug of his arm brought him back to reality.
“Come one, Tamaki. We don’t want to hold up the line,” Hado smiles softly up to him.
He did as he was told, following her lead as they slowly made there way into the event.
Meanwhile, Y/n stood introducing her friends to her new partner.
“So, you don’t talk to any of us for nearly 4 months and now you show up with a man none of us have met?” Mina’s voice was hushed and abrasive.
Y/n looked towards the hardwood, head hung with uneasy. Mina was right, she shouldn’t have blocked any of them out like that, but she didn’t know how to respond.
“Well, technically we have met. At the provisional hero’s lisence test when we were all still in school,” Shindo interjected, arm scratching the back of his neck as he spoke. “I’m the one who created all those earthquakes. When I heard so many of you first years had passed, I was honestly impressed.”
Katsuki’s face washed with confusion trying to remember who he was.
“Oh, yeah,” Momo started, “you’re that guy who got headbutted by Gang Orca!”
The realization of who he was clicked in the small group of old 1-A students, some laughing quietly at the memory, Katsuki loudest of all. Shindo’s eyes went wide and cheeks flushed a light pink as his hand that was behind his neck found its way to the small of Y/n’s back and tapping three times. It was a code they had agreed on when one was ready to leave the conversation.
“That’s really the part you guys latched onto, huh?” Shindo grumbles out.
“I promise we’ll hang out soon. We need to keep making our rounds to the different tables,” Y/n hummed to her friends, taking Mina’s hand and squeezing it. “Movie night at my place when we can find the time?”
“I’m holding you to that, Pop Rocks,” Katsuki barks at his older sister.
“And what possessed you to start dating Squid Boy?” Katsuki sat spread out of the couch in the family room, glaring daggers at Amajiki.
Amajiki shift in his seat across from Y/n’s intense looking younger brother. Y/n reentered the room from the kitchen, water bottles in hand and hitting the back of her brothers head with one of the bottles and handing it to him.
“Don’t be a dick. You have to make a good impression just as much as he does. Mom taught you better than that.” Y/n barks at Katsuki crossing the room and sitting next to Amajiki.
“Yeah, I did! What did I do?” Matsuki barked at the same volume as her children as she entered through the front door, arms covered in too many grocery bags.
“Taught Katsuki to not be such a dick to someone his loving sister likes,” Y/n laughs while looking to her mother.
Close behind her was Masaru, holding a high stack of toilet paper, paper towels, and boxes of soda. Katsuki and Y/n stood up, taking some things from their parents and following them to the kitchen. Amajiki watched, stuck to the couch in fear.
Once out of ear shot, Masaru spoke matter of fact, “he failed the first test. He didn’t help with the groceries even though our hands were obviously overflowing.”
“Dad! That’s not fair. I already told you he’s not good with new people!” Y/n whined at her father.
Amajiki couldn’t make out the muffled words on the other side of the kitchen door, but they were talking long enough that they would have come out to the living room if it wasn’t about him. Finally, the door swung open to an exasperated Y/n, and an irritated Katsuki close on her heels. Katsuki flopped onto the couch he was on before as Y/n bee lined her way towards Amajiki.
“Let’s go, Amajiki,” Y/n said, pulling him up by the collar of his uniform blazer.
“W- we’re going already?” Amajiki hiccuped out.
“I’ll see you at family game night this weekend,” Y/n called to her younger brother.
“I’m holding you to that, Pop Rocks,” Katsuki hollered as Y/n shut the door behind them.
“Thank you,” Shindo whispered into Y/n’s ear once they were far enough away from the loud group of friends.
“I didn’t realize you got blasted by Gang Orc. That’s hilarious.” Y/n smiles up at Shindo, stifling the laugh that bubbled in her throat.
“You sure are a Bakugo,” Shindo says, pinching her side his hand rested on causing her to jump into him and letting out her laugh she was holding in.
“Yeah, that’s a nice way of putting it,” a voice from behind them hissed.
Y/n frozen in their spot, not daring to confirm who it was. Looking over his shoulder, Shindo saw a cheery faced woman in a light blue summer dress nearly skipping up to meet them with a tired looking man in a dark purple suit following timidly behind. He noticed how their outfits did not match.
“Hello, I’m Yo Shindo. Are you friends of Y/n?” He turned fully towards the couple, ignoring Y/n’s frantic tapping.
Hado’s eyes shifted from friendly to suspicious in an instant before speaking, “Oh, did Y/n not tell you who we are?”
“Yo, let’s just go,” Y/n whispered to her partner, reaching for his wrist to pull him away.
Instead of pulling him away, Y/n gets spun around and pulled closer to Shindo, his hand finding a low spot on her hip in view of the other two.
“Not yet, I was just being introduced to some more of your school friends.” Shindo’s kind smile slowly fell as he spoke, “these two obviously went to UA. You can tell by how they carry themselves like their better than me.”
Hado chuckled out, “and what makes you think we aren’t better than you?”
Y/n’s head snaps towards Hado at her comment, disbelief covering her face. She squeezed Shindo’s hand that was on her hip leaving a light glycerol residue that warmed his skin before pulling away and stepping forward.
“Excuse me?” Y/n starts, hands popping with tiny explosions. “You really want to play the whose better game right now? I must have forgotten who between the two of us ranks twenty spots high that the other.”
“Hey, you’re rank chaser of a boyfriend is the one who started it. We can all see it. Kind of sad you don’t.” Hado’s voice dripped of false sympathy towards Y/n before looking up at Shindo, “What are you ranked? 45? 46? And she’s ranked #12 in all of Japan. Kind of pathetic if you think about it.”
Louder pops started to sound from Y/n’s palm. Shindo’s large hand enveloped her wrist, pulling her back to his side. He couldn’t think of why Y/n would feel the need to play this irritated at Hado’s jabs at him, except that anything Hado said would elicit this kind of response.
“You’re just going to let her go off like that on your ex-girlfriend?” Shindo’s voice sounded gruffer than normal as he looked over Hado’s shoulder to the man of similar height who looked like he was trying to disappear.
“Oh, so you do know who we are?” Hado scoffed out. “She tell you all about him?”
“Y/n didn’t have to. Hard to not know about the homewrecker and the man who let her weasel her way in when it’s plastered all over the tabloids for nearly a month.” Shindo shot back, tilting his chin up so he could look down to her.
Fourth Kind walked around his desk to stand in front of his sidekick, Grand, holding out a folder. Opening the folder, Shindo sees a snapshot of another hero emerging from a burning building with a child in their arms paper clipped to a bio sheet that read ‘The Incendiary Hero: Detacord’. He recognized the hero uniform from a villain base raid a couple weeks before. What his boss said next caused Shindo to look at him in disbelief.
“You’re next assignment comes straight from the Commission,” Fourth Kind started. “You are to pretend to be in a relationship with Y/n Bakugo, Hawk’s top sidekick. This will prove fruitful for you if you can pull it off. You’re in desperate need to increase your rank on the popularity chart.”
“And what good does this do for her?” Shindo asks, turning his attention back to the folder, flipping through the pages, finding a picture of a couple who also looked familiar to him.
“She went through a nasty public breakup earlier this year. While it hasn’t hurt her in the popularity charts yet, she’s becoming increasingly sloppy with her work. The Commission is hoping the assignment will give her something to focus on.” Fourth Kind spoke, walking across his office to start making tea for the guest who were about to arrive. “Now, go change into your hero uniform. Hawks and Detacord will be here shortly.”
“Don’t speak to my girlfriend like that,” Amajiki had finally spoken.
The other three looked at him, all a bit surprised to hear him speak finally. Shindo scoffed, shaking his head as he pulled Y/n be her elbow away across the venue. He could feel her shaking like a leaf. Taking two flutes of champagne from a waiter, Shindo hands one to Y/n. She takes a slow long sip from her glass.
“I thought the great Detacord was always cool under pressure. At least that’s what Teen Bop says about you.” Shindo smirks down at her, trying to alleviate the tension that was like a dark cloud around her.
“You read Teen Bop Magazine?” Y/n asks behind the glass.
“No, but my little sister does. She says she wants to be just like you one day.” Shindo says casually, looking out towards the crowd, spotting a now arguing couple they had just walked away from.
When no response from Y/n came, he looked back towards her. She was also watching Amajiki and Hado fight, an amused look on her face.
“What?” Shindo asked.
“At least now I know he fights like that with anyone he’s with.” Y/n says, finishing the champagne in her glass and putting the empty glass onto the tray of a passing waiter. “Have you ever been in a real relationship, Yo? Like an honest head over heels relationship?”
Shindo had ignored her calling him by his first name earlier when they were in front of her ex, assuming it was to prove a point. But he couldn’t ignore it now that no one else was in earshot of their conversation.
“Yeah, I have been,” his response came out much quieter than he had meant it to.

Bruno with a Short Reader HC
Pairing: Bruno Madrigal x Reader
Requested: By Anon
A/N: Thank you for your request! So, I've always been the short one in the relationship. I'm the same height as Bruno and found it really difficult to imagine a so shorter than me. So sorry this one is so... short.
Okay, listen, Bruno is 5’4”. A short king. A manlet. Most people his age in the Encanto are either the same height or taller than him.
When you knocked on the Encanto doors with a small crying Luisa in your arms and he had to look down to make eye contact, he was surprised.
“Hi, I found this little one lost in the Encanto and figured I should bring her home.”
You two became fast friends over your shared shortness. You’d share how you climbed on counters to get things and he’d share how to get into the small places around Casita.
You two looked proportional when it came to your heights.
The first time you kissed, you had to raise your heels off the ground slightly, and he had to lean down. His hands cupping your face, and your hands pulling you up by his shoulders.
His favorite thing to call you was mi Cielito (my little heaven)
You quickly were adopted into the family as a tio/tia to his three nieces.
Bruno discovers he prefers being the little spoon, but instead of a big spoon, you’re more of a jetpack latched on behind him.
One thing Bruno still had to get used to was being asked for help reaching for things.

One Step Forward, Three Steps Back
Pairing: Tamaki Amajiki x BakugoSibiling!Reader
Word Count: 1893
Summary: Part one to Sunkissed. The truth of what Amajiki has been doing behind his girlfriend Y/n Bakugo’s back comes to light during a hero conference and the fallout is anything but glamorous. All Y/n can think about are the past memories of their relationship.
Warnings: Yelling, Cheating, Reader uses her quirk against Amajiki
A/N: I was given a writing prompt based on ‘1 step forward, 3 steps back’ and ‘enough of you’ by Olivia Rodrigo and got so lost in the Sause. I highly recommend listening to the song while you read this.
“You are all I’ve ever had! I have given you EVERYTHING!” The walls seemed to shake as her voice boomed in the once chattering room of Pro Heros.
“Please, be quiet,” Amajiki urged Y/n, hand reaching out towards her cheek.
Amajiki’s hand gets thrown back down to his side, wrist warm from the sparks coming from her hands. His hood falls from his head. She had never spoken to him like this, never fought his affection like this. Tears fell from her eyes.
Her voice shook, filled with venom through gritted teeth, “no! You do not get to play the hero this time!”
Cherry blossom petals float through the sky like a fairytale. The air fills with laughter from the lovers. Amajiki and Y/n had just finished classes for the day and had the weekend to plan for their spring break trip. Amajiki had brought a bottle of Y/n’s favorite juice.
“No, you don’t understand the full story,” Tamaki whispered, hoping his partner would follow.
“What’s going on?” Bakugo’s deep voice booms as he crosses the room in a rush.
“This doesn’t involve you,” Amajiki tried to assure Bakugo.
“Like hell it does. My older sister is crying in the middle of a work conference,” Bakugo speaks matter of factly. “What’s happening, Y/n.”
“Go ahead. Tell him, Tamaki!” Y/n demanded, hand pointing towards her brother.
The tips of Amajiki’s ears flush red when being put on the spot. His breathing starts to pick up and become labored. Before him were two of the most popular heroes, the Bakugo siblings. He knew he was in the wrong, but how was he supposed to admit that in a room full of his bosses and colleagues?
“Out with it? What did you do this time, Squid Boy?” Bakugo’s voice booms almost as loud as Y/n’s.
Bakugo could hear his sister on the phone in the other room.
“Yeah, yeah, it’s fine… I understand… Things come up, you know?... yeah, we can reschedule for another day… Yeah. I- I love you too… Bye”
Y/n starts to walk towards the living room. He turns the tv on, pretending he wasn’t listening.
“Who were you on the phone with?” Bakugo asks.
“Oh,” a small sniffle comes from Y/n, not expecting to see her brother. “Tamaki. He has to reschedule our date. Something about Fatgum asking him to come in for a last minute raid.”
Bakugo looks over towards his sister. She had obviously spent a long time getting ready. Her hair was perfectly placed, her dress was pressed and wrinkle free, but her eyes were tinted red.
“Man, how last minute was it this time?” Bakugo scoffs.
“He was supposed to be here an hour ago,” Y/n whispers towards the hardwood of their family home.
Bakugo’s eyebrows knit together. Sure, Amajiki canceled their plans a lot but he never waited until they were already supposed to be out to call.
“Want me to call Ashido? She probably has plans to go out tonight,” Bakugo asks, already pulling out his cellphone.
Y/n smiles, wiping her eyes carefully, looks up to her brother, “yeah, that sounds fun.”
“I always have to be sooo perfect for you, Tamaki! God forbid I say something that’ll embarrass you in front of all your precious fans! You don’t even let me spend real time with my own fans!” Y/n’s voice began to raise again.
“Woah, woah, woah. What’s happening over here?” Togata’s cheery voice fills the air as he steps between his two friends.
“Oh, good, Mirio. Have you seen Hado anywhere? I’d like to talk to her.” Y/n’s voice shifts suddenly to one of innocence and cheer.
“Hado? You mean Nejire? Why are you calling her by her last name?” Togata asks, confused.
“Don’t tell her where Nejire is,” commands Amajiki.
“Wait, why shouldn’t I tell her?” Togata now looks even more confused towards Amajiki.
“You don’t know? I’m shocked! I thought your little lap dog tells you everything.” Y/n’s voice was condescending and full of malice.
“Did you just call me a lap dog?” Amajiki’s anger began to rise.
Togata looks back to Y/n with shock, “hey now, I don’t know what’s going one but there’s no reas-”
He was cut off by Y/n’s loud cries and popping hands. “He fucked her! He canceled our aniversary dinner to FUCK HER!”
A loud boom echoes in the meeting hall and Amajiki is thrown across the room. Before she was able to run in for a second blast, Y/n was being held back by her brother’s strong arms. Her arms and legs thrashed against the body holding her as words spilled from her lips faster than she could think of them. Hado was at Amajiki’s side in an instant.
“3… 2… 1… Go!” Togata hollars at the two girls at the other end of the track.
The two students take off at breakneck speeds. One floats forward on waves of energy, the other with loud blasts from her hands. Loud laughs could be heard from both. Cheers and whoops from their friends and Class 1-A fueled them forward.
“Come on, Bunny! You’ve got this!” Amajiki called for his girlfriend.
The two heroes cross the track in seconds, the exciting race coming to a quick end. Aizawa wanted the group of third years to help his class gain speed with the help of their quirks. Aizawa looked at the two friends who had each other wrapped in a tight side hug.
“Detacord wins,” Aizawa’s flat voice is cut off by the cheers of class 1-a.
Y/n jumps away and up in victory. Celebrating with a little dance.
“I think that’s the first time I've beaten you in a race!” Y/n chuckles towards her friends.
Hado laughs in response pulling her friend in for a hug, “I think you’re right! I knew you could do it!”
“Humility in victory and such,” Aizawa says towards his students. “Everyone up. Pick one of the four to help you specifically.”
Y/n’s resistance slowed as her attacking words dissolved into heart wrenching sobs. She slowly sank to the floor, the once tight grip around her arms loosened. Y/n was quickly pulled to standing and out of the conference hall by a group of people she couldn’t make out through her tears. She’s led into what she assumes is one of their hotel rooms and sat on a couch. A pair of familiarly pink arms wrap around her.
“Shhh, it’s okay,” Ashido’s voice was soft.
Y/n’s breath sputtered as she tried to catch her breath. Bakugo’s voice thundered from down the hall. The words were indistinguishable but the anger was apparent. Then some more booms and multiple voices being shouted.
Y/n found out a week later what had happened. Amajiki apparently tried to defend his actions to those who would listen but Bakugo wasn’t going to waste his time with his excuses. Instead, Bakugo sent a half powered AP Shot right at Amajiki’s chest. ‘Nothing that would permanently damage him,’ Bakugo had assured her, ‘but strong enough to remind him where he stands compared to me.’ News and tabloid headlines read of the events of that night and the newly single Pro Hero.
It took another month before Y/n was moved out of her shared home with Amajiki. The whole time he would be apologizing, begging her not to go, promising something like this would never happen again. He even tried to have Hado talk to her, saying it was her fault, not Y/n’s or Amajiki’s. Bakugo wouldn’t let her be there alone after that. He planned someone to be with her since he knew he couldn’t because of work. It was a rotating group of his friends who would come on their days off to help her.
“No, Y/n,” the tipsy Amajiki giggles out. “Staaay with me. Why must you sit over there with the girls?”
Y/n laughs as her lips meet Amajiki’s before pulling away and looking down at her boyfriend, “I invited them over to hang out, not to watch us kissing you all night.”
“But I never get to see you know that we work at different agencies,” pouted Amajiki.
“Oh, shove it, Tamaki!” Hado laughs.
“Yeah, you get her every single night! We get her when she remembers to text us back.” Ashido tuts.
“Fiiine,” Amajiki feigns death.
The girls laugh, getting comfortable on the other side of the couch, turning on a movie to watch.
“Take everything,” Ashido pushed. “Anything you bought, take with you. I know you put the most into that house. Remind him of just how much he’s losing. We’ll all come over during one of his patrol shifts and move it all out at once.”
Y/n agreed with a small head nod. Her expressions had muted since the hero conference and it was painfully obvious to everyone around her.
The group did just what Ashido suggested. On the last day of clearing out Y/n’s belongings, half of class 1-a and even Togata gathered everything Y/n could identify that she bought. She didn’t need to lift a finger as bodies passed around her, packing the rest of her belongings, including her couch and bed. Yaoyorozu had been petty enough to take the frames and leave the photos even. When all was done, the house looked almost empty.
Not long after Amajiki and Y/n’s split, Hado moved in with Amajiki and they isolated themselves from the rest of the friend group. Y/n was surrounded with her friends but moved through life a shell of her former self. She busied herself with hero work, jumping up the next year’s hero ratings to the number 12 spot and being promoted to the top sidekick for Pro Hero Hawks. She had never been more popular and she should feel happier than she ever has. Y/n wore a smile through all of it, but it never reached her eyes. She would find herself listening to old voicemails from Amajiki when she was alone. The ones where he would rant about having to make phone calls before he realizes he’s leaving a voicemail and quickly says ‘I love you’ and ends the call.
“I miss you,” Y/n whispers as she hugs her phone close.
Amajiki became sharper, and more harsh at work, tiring himself out before ever getting home. He walked through the front door of his house, tired and battered from his patrol shift. He noticed the air smelled like cookies as he took off his shoes. His eyes closed as he took a deep breath in, picturing Y/n in the kitchen's threshold, hand on her hip saying something snarky about how he’s late again and calling him squid boy as a punctuation at the end. When he opens his eyes, instead he sees a softly smiling Hado.
“Welcome home, love. Work was tough today?” Her voice was soft and flowed like honey.
“Uh, yeah.” Amajiki groans out, moving across the house towards what was once Y/n’s office, now his own.
He closes in the door quietly behind him. He leans his head against the wall beside the door. Taking another deep breath in, he holds it before whispering out, “I miss you.”

Cherry Blossom Secrets p.1
Part 2
Pairing: Eijiro Kirishima x Reader
Word Count: 1341
Summary: Eijiro knew the one thing to never say to Y/n, the one thing that could only hurt coming from him, and he uses it as a weapon against them. Now he’s realizing just how much his life had begun to orbit around Y/n’s.
Inspired by She Used To Be Mine by Chloe Adams
Warnings: general angst. Bakugo’s normal name calling. The spilling of secrets.
A/N: It’s sad boi hours. I’ve been in the worst writing slump and I’m hoping writing and posting this will help me out of it.
Eijiro pulled the top half of his hair into a bun, tying it with a scrunchie Y/n had left in his dorm months ago. He examined the inch of black grow out near his scalp, much longer than he was comfortable with. He hadn’t bleach and dyed his hair without help in almost a year and suddenly felt nervous while looking at the mixed bleach infront of him. He held the brush and bowl in his hand for a moment more before giving it one last mix and getting to work on his roots. Eijiro had forgotten how much effort went into hold your arms in all those weird positions to get the bleach everywhere. He called it a night, convincing himself he’ll dye it red in the morning before breakfast.
Laying in bed, Eijiro stared at the ceiling, taking a deep breath before turning onto his side and pulling the heavy blanket over his shoulders. A breeze from the window wafted the scent of cherry blossoms into the room and filling his senses. They hadn’t spoken to hime since then. Everything around him reminded him of them, from the way they would move his head around to make sure they hadn’t missed a single strand of hair without dye to how he’d found cherry blossom petals in his pocket after they had told him something they hadn’t told anyone else.
Eijiro Kirishima had never considered himself a coward since coming to UA, but that was changed with just one sentence that came out before he could think of what he was saying. His mouth went dry thinking about what had happened during training nearly a month ago. He shifted onto his back, looking up at the ceiling that was decorated in the glow in the dark stars Y/n had gifted him.
He knew better than to say what he did, but he was offended for Bakugo. The worst part was that they hadn’t been wrong. Bakugo wasn’t a team player whenever the two of them were partnered together, they wouldn’t be allowed a word of opinion when they were. But what he said was definitely lie, one that was meant to sting. It had even surprised Bakugo when he said it. But it was too late, he had already said it out loud: “maybe you’re just jealous cause Mineta’s quirk is more powerful then yours will ever be and you know it.” Had he said it to Kaminari or Mina, it would have been laughed off as a joke between friends, but Y/n wasn’t just one of the boys.
Y/n was the only other person other than Mina to know about his natural hair color, they knew he still sometimes slept with his old Crimson Riot plushy when he missed home, they knew Eijiro saw the sun and the stars when he looked into their eyes. And Eijiro knew the one thing to never say to Y/n was that they would never be as strong as the rest of class 3-A. Eijiro twisted and turned for hours until sleep finally over took him.
Eijiro woke up the next morning to his blaring alarm, reminding him he had to dye his hair before classes. He had barely made it to his seat when the bell rang and Mr Aizawa walking into the classroom.
“Since it is Monday, I will once again go over this weeks training,” Aizawa began to drone the same training schedule as the last few weeks to the class.
Eijiro took the time to look around the classroom and that’s when he notice’s Y/n desk was empty. He looks back forward, lost in thought of where they could be. They had never missed class, except when they had the stomach flu and Aizawa forced them to go back to the dorms to rest. A small blast on his desk pulled his attention from his thoughts. Bakugo spoke brash but Eijiro hadn’t heard the words he said.
“I’m sorry, what did you say?” Eijiro asks, shaking his head to gather his thoughts.
“I said, let’s go, Shitty Hair. It’s time to get changed for training. You good, Bro?” Bakugo repeated himself, his eyebrows knit together in confusion at the red head.
That’s when Eijiro realizes he dissociated for the entirety of first period.
“Where’s Y/n?” Eijiro asks before he can stop himself, a bad habit he has seemed to pick up recently.
“Y/n? Did you not hear what Aizawa said? Something about having a meeting with Principle Nezu or something. I assumed you were payin’ attention.” Bakugo said casually, walking towards the classroom door.
Eijiro’s blood ran cold at the mention of Principle Nezu. You didn’t get a private meeting with him unless it was something really serious. He continued to fester in his own thoughts throughout the rest of his classes. The school day was over before it started and Eijiro now sat on one of the common room couches, listening to Denki and Mina fight over who the better Smash player was. He felt someone walk behind him before stopping, as he went to turn around, a small chunk of his hair is pulled up towards the ceiling, causing his face to turn towards the carpet.
Y/n’s voice rang out for everyone to hear, little emotion attached to it, “looks like you missed a chunk of black while you were dying your hair.”
Eijiro quickly swipes the piece of hair down, turning to look at Y/n in disbelief.
“Oh, did I say something I shouldn’t have? Something you didn’t want everyone else knowing?” Y/n’s eyes were cold as they spoke.
Eijiro opened his mouth to speak, but Y/n turned and started walking away before he could say a word. He was shocked they would do something like that so casually, something that was such a big secret, and as Eijiro watched Y/n wait for the elevator, it made perfect sense why they did it. An eye for an eye, they had told him once, taking a black pawn that had just taken one of theirs. They had always been smarter than him when it came to strategy. They had also always been better at comebacks when insults were being thrown between them and Bakugo.
Mina and Y/n now sat in Mina’s dorm catching Y/n on the notes they had missed that day.
“So, why’d you have to miss all day of classes just to talk to the Big Mouse?” Mina’s cheery voice warms the room.
“I talked to more than just Principle Nezu,” Y/n sighed, continuing to copy Mina’s notes.
“Are you really going to leave the hero program?” Mina’s voice was now filled with concerned.
Y/n stopped writing, looking up to her best friend. “Who said I was leaving the hero course?”
“It’s all Kirishima has been muttering about since you got back to the dorms. He’s convinced he’s the reason you’re leaving the program. I tried to tell him if you were, it wouldn’t be because of something he had said on accident, but he wouldn’t listen. He made me promise I wouldn’t mention it to you. Finally, he stormed out and towards the running track. But I just have to ask, because this class would be so boring without you bossing Bakugo and Kirishima around.” Mina spoke quickly, the way she does when she knew she was spilling secret that she shouldn’t.
“N- no, I’m not leaving the hero course. He really thinks him being an asshole to me would make me drop the hero course? I’ve heard worse things from my own mother. It’s honestly very bold of him to think it’d be because something he said.” Y/n finished with a scoff, going back to copying Mina’s notes.
“So, you’re set on cutting him from your life then?” Mina’s voice was somewhere between irritated and sad.
“That is yet to be decided,” Y/n response, pretending to be more focused on their notes than the conversation.
