I was doodling a noisy illustration sort of inspected by Francisco Souto where the main subject of the picture is a small part of the compostable. The rest was empty space but k suppose space isn’t that empty because the stars hold so much life and energy. I think in my pieces I wanted to talk about moving and visually communicate movement. I was lovely Vincent Van Gogh when I was doing this and even though it’s not intelligent design or clever I enjoyed doing it and I hope people can see joy and wonder when they see my doodle. I played with the idea of illustrating a design for a can of orange juice. I wanted to make a design for the sollier bomb ( it was a drink we got in Spain of orange juice with a scoop of orange ice cream inside). I thought it would be cute to design something that could hold and keep a happy memory inside. After you drink it you can keep the can as a keepsake. It was just a silly fun idea that I still want to do as I do want to continue practicing using the adobe suite.

Haven’t gotten a pay check yet, are human souls an effective method of donation?
Yet what could equal the value of a human soul?
(lol i mean the sentiment is nice that you would even want to donate anything!!)

I painted this picture from a couple of different photos I took of the tram waiting to leave to the Port of Palma from the church in Sollier. I began to think of the train as a vessel that transports the oranges from their warm and peaceful lives to their inevitable sweet and delicious death. I recently found out that my friend has Leukemia thats not responded to chemo and I found myself wishing that he too could be an orange in Spain, every journey blessed so quietly. Life would be so simple if we got to just grow in the sun and wander through the mountains. Our life would be so peaceful and our death would be so sweet bringing others so much joy. I really found myself missing having faith and hope that god blesses our movments through life and everything is going to be okay because we are not oranges and things are not okay.
I was interested in the story of the Willow Tree. Its the traditional picture you see on proper China plates. There are a few various different versions but the main gist of the tale is that two people fell in love, one who what high up in the chinese dynasty and one who was her inferior. The declared their love and it was not recieved well and they were forced to flee. The fled to a small island and he began to write. He became very scsessful but unfortunatley he was so sucsessful that word spread of his words and the emporor found them. They sent three warriors to the island and they burned the house down with the couple inside. The gods saw this happen and took pity on the couple and change them into doves. I love how this fable was eternalised through the medium of ceramic. I think theres something beautiful about taking a painful memory and changing it into something tangable that can outlast us all. I decided covert the story into a sort of mobile that can hang peacfully in a space.

I was in a slips and surfaces class as part of my ceramic elective and Gemma showed me how to transfer prints onto ceramic with crisp lines. You begin by mixing pigmented ceramic dust with water to make a runny paste. You then paint the mixture onto some glass and dry it thoroughly. you the gently place some newsprint paper on top and draw your line image. I loosely painted some shadows of the painting onto a slab of clay and once it dried I transferred the ceramic print.
I know there is no such thing as a magic train that takes you on a blessed and beautiful journey through life but I found it comforting to make something I can see and touch and cement a hope in that things are okay because life is sweet and uncomplicated. Ultimately, he wasn't on that holiday with me and did not get to take any of this magic that could do what medicine seems to be unable to do.
